Can I join please? I had a pre-op yesterday and said I had a feeling I could be pregnant and got a positive test! It's a shock to us, we'd just had our IVF referral done as my partner was told he couldn't have children after leukaemia treatment so we're over the moon! Due date should be 9th July 2019

Capybaras · 01/11/2018 08:40

Can I join please? Haven’t had a chance to rtft yet (hi everyone) but just got my BFP at potentially 9dpo. It’s a clear line so maybe later! This will be dc1 and our first cycle trying!
Really shocked as my dp had testicular torsion as a teen as was warned he may be infertile so didn’t expect this at all!
Haven’t told him yet.

Hope everyone else is good!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 01/11/2018 08:58

@Laburna I wouldn’t worry about that. I discovered recently that I was taking DH’s part of the pregnacare conception tablets for a couple of weeks after ovulation so was getting all kinds of testosterone building “man vitamins” instead of lovely pregnancy ones. Didn’t stop us conceiving, although DH is convinced this means we will have a boy 😁

@pancakes22 it’s your baby too so it’s only right you have a say especially if it has a chance of impacting on one of your closest friendships. DH will get over it in time. In a matter of weeks everyone will know anyway

@Brainfried1986 I’m with you on the twin thing it would be a nightmare all round! It is quite odd to get 3+ at your stage though!

@ffiffi8 I have the problem with the active toddler jumping all over me too. I’m hoping it won’t affect anything but I do try to stop her jumping on my stomach or pelvic area.

Welcome @MapleSpice and @capybaras. There are lots of people on this thread who got lucky first cycle it seems. We must be a particularly lucky group!

I’ve told work because i’ve already been sent 3 hospital appointments to attend and there’s no way i’m using my annual leave for those so had to tell manager to get it all down as antenatal appointments leave

TwittleBee · 01/11/2018 09:05

Hello to all the New people! Welcome! And good luck with a healthy pregnancy!

ffiffi8 tell me about it. And we can't run on loads of caffeine now either. Already had comments about how I've moved to decaf from colleagues 🤦‍♀️

Laburna · 01/11/2018 09:13

@brainfried1986 there's a threshold for the weeks thing, for an average of what is expected at that point, they are super arbitrary so I wouldn't worry about it having gone to 3+ a bit earlier than expected. It /could/ be a sign of twins but more probable that your HCG has risen well - each woman is different remember!

@ffiffi8 I have a toddler and a dog, had the dog last time, he knocked me over a few times in the early stages too and it was all fine!

@pancakes22 totally with the others on this one, there's nothing worse than stringing someone along after with holding information. She will need to know so the sooner the better, even if it just puts your mind at ease! He'll snap out of it, and you shouldn't feel like you need to 'make it up to him'!

@allthegoodnamesalreadytaken I did have a Google and it says I'll wee it out, but it can damage the baby's organs....which it doesn't have yet, does it? I've switched now so I'm sure it'll be ok! Did you get any side effects from the testosterone enhancing ones? At what point in conception/development is the sex decided, I've never thought about that before. I know over 37ish you are less likely to get a girl, which I only know because my sister was desperate for one! I've never out much stock in all the old wives tales about what helps either way or what shows what you're having! Though if you have a boy now, he'll tell everyone that's why! 🤣😂

amanda2809 · 01/11/2018 09:30

Howdy :) Looks like I'm in this club, got my positive on Friday (the day I was going to Holland for a family reunion! successfully avoided booze!) but that was a few days before my period was due. Think my due date is 8th July :)

Frazzlerock · 01/11/2018 09:32

@pancakes22 Oi! Don't you dare feel guilty!

It's not up to your DH whether you tell people or not. You can tell your friends and, if he wants to keep it from his friends, then that is up to him.
It is your pregnancy too and you are the one that has all the physical symptoms so it is so much harder to keep it from people.

@TwinkleDay I think if it is brown discharge then that is old blood? It sounds like whatever that pink was on Monday night has cleared itself up.

@Laburna sex is decided the moment the sperm meets the egg. Sperm can carry either an X or a Y chromosome, and an egg is always an X. So if the sperm that wins is a Y then baby will be an XY = Boy. Or, if it is an X then baby will be XX = girl.

Morning btw Grin

Frazzlerock · 01/11/2018 09:32

Oh and welcome to the group all the new ones!

Please add yourselves to the list (check previous pages) Grin

Laburna · 01/11/2018 09:35

@frazzlerock I need to read my 'where willy went' book again 😂

Hello new people! We're really gaining a gang now!

leggybrunette · 01/11/2018 09:48

Morning everyone, can I join too please?

Got a bfp yesterday which puts my EDD at 12th July. Still in a little shock if I'm honest and had to do another one just to make sure I didn't imagine it.

Now starting to worry about people guessing before we're ready to tell them as I've got my friends wedding which I'm a bridesmaid at, 2 Xmas parties and a friends 30th all in the next 4 weeks and people will be suspicious if they realise I'm not drinking (and my friends are infamous for rounds of shots).

Frazzlerock · 01/11/2018 09:51

@leggybrunette morning and welcome. Please add yourself to the list. If you don't want anyone to know then say you're giving up alcohol for a month to detox ready for Xmas/NY?

amanda2809 · 01/11/2018 09:54

@leggybrunette I know what you mean! I've got a works xmas do and there is no way they'll let me get away with "i'm on antibiotics" or any other excuse like that! I've told one person at work (she kept asking if I was ok on tuesday when I was shattered! It's nice to have a confidant! I'll probably tell a few more before xmas but not my boss until I'm probably nearer 20 weeks if I can...!

We're seeing my uni friends and their families (me plus 3 girls, all now with husbands and kids!) the weekend before xmas so will have to tell them then, even though I don't think I'll have had a scan by then. But the way I see it, if anything went wrong I'd want them to know so no problem letting them know before a scan.

Frazzlerock · 01/11/2018 10:13

I'm really bored at work so I will add all the new joiners to the list Grin

TheScaredyKat · 01/11/2018 10:15

I'm an avid tea drinker and my work colleagues are already suspicious why I'm turning down a cup of tea! I've got a hideous cold so at the moment I'm hopefully getting away with switching it for hot lemon water but I won't get away with that for long!

thirty five little bubbas in the making!!

(at least, there could be twins or more in a least one of us Shock)

ffiffi8 · 01/11/2018 10:37

My sister has twin girls and my partner has twin brothers 😣🙈

itsallgreek · 01/11/2018 10:45

My dad has twin sisters and my mum twin uncles Hmm

Laburna · 01/11/2018 10:52

Non-identical twins on the mother's side are the genetic ones to watch, so if you have twins in your family the chances are higher. Identical twins are anyone's games, and the older you are the more likely you are to have them, so I'm guessing at least one of us is harbouring two babies and doesn't know 😂

(I jest, but inside I panic!)

Holly5633 · 01/11/2018 10:53

Thanks for adding me to the list ladies.
I feel like nobody is happy for me. I have told my three best friends but because I had a loss last month they all just replied ‘wait and see’ or maybe even though I showed them a positive pregnancy test. I know they are probably being cautious because they saw how upset I was last month but I would still like a bit of happiness and excitement from them: they are all making me feel like I shouldn’t be happy about it or like I’m going to lose it again before I’ve even given it a chance. It’s making me feel white sad :(

HchyScott · 01/11/2018 10:55

DC1 EDD 6/7/19

I’m starting to worry that I haven’t really had any symptoms yet, my boobs aren’t even sore when the usually get tender when I’m due on... had digestive symptoms but that’s not unusual.. the only really unusual thing is not being able to sleep at night! It’s driving me mad, I’m a girl that needs 8 hours at least, famous for sleeping for 10 regularly and now I’m getting about 5 so totally knackered during the day.
I’m praying I’m going to get a scan before Xmas, I’d love to be able to announce it them but I guess it all depends what my dr says Monday. First timer, so I really don’t know what to expect.

ratherbeshowjumping · 01/11/2018 10:59

Hi to the new people. We've got a lovely big group now 😊

@TheScaredyKat this is my biggest issue too! I'm getting lots of funny looks about the lack of tea I'm drinking. It's incredible how quickly you can go off something you love.

Has anyone else started having cravings yet? I think there's an old wives tale - salt for a boy, sugar for a girl. I'm unsure how true that is though!

Very, very exciting that there could be twins on the thread. We have no history of twins on either side, however saying that a friend of mine had two absolutely gorgeous identical twin boys in the summer, with no previous history of twins in either family.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 01/11/2018 11:08

@HchyScott I'm the same. No symptoms at all. Boobs feel normal. But I've really struggled to sleep at night. Yesterday I was an emotional zombie from lack of sleep.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 01/11/2018 11:13

My EDD 9th July

Capybaras · 01/11/2018 11:19

Hi @frazzlerock thanks for including the list! My EDD is 17/7/19!
Can not concentrate in work at all!

How soon should you approach you GP to tell them you’re pregnant?
