Fingers crossed for those going to the epu.

I had my midwife appointment this morning which was basically a lot of admin. I rang the hospital this afternoon to book a scan and they told me I was already booked in for one in half an hour! I didn’t get the letter so really lucky I rang then. I was really nervous but there’s a baby in the right place and we saw a heartbeat. They said 8 weeks +1 so only a day off what I thought! Really glad I can tell a few close family and friends now!

Curlywurly3 · 25/10/2018 16:39

Congrats @stellarfox! How come they already had you booked in for a scan at 8 weeks before you even called them? That's great service! :) x

Martini123 · 25/10/2018 16:49

Hi All,

Nice to meet you all - this is my second pregnancy. My first ended in miscarriage and now I'm due on my birthday - 8th June! If this pregnancy goes full term it will be the best birthday present ever 😀😀

Just thought I'd say hi! Xxx

stellarfox · 25/10/2018 17:17

@Curlywurly3 It seems the lady I booked my midwife appointment with (a different midwife to the one I saw this morning) must have arranged it and I just didn’t get the letter. I’ve had it early because if you go on my period dates I could have been 14 weeks by now. I said I didn’t think I’m that far along but they said it’s best to check. I’ve got a 12 week scan booked in for in 4 weeks too!

Welcome @Martini123 Lovely that your due on your birthday!

Reastiepeace · 25/10/2018 17:36

Hi everyone,

Seeing my gp tomorrow to discuss sickness medication and work. Have been pinning all my hopes on gp being helpful so crossing fingers. Think I’ll burst into tears if they can’t give me more drugs! Accomplishing minimal of anything here. Had a rest after lunch and then changed dds bedsheets but the exertion made me feel so sick I had to lie down for the rest of the afternoon Confused . And I’m only 5 1/2 weeks, last time this went on until 20 weeks!

Kescilly · 25/10/2018 18:00

I hope that you’re doing okay @skee. Sorry they couldn’t fit you in, @poppyseed2. Hoping for the best tomorrow.

Pigriver · 25/10/2018 18:00

I've been in agony all day with a dodgy hip. I really struggled towards the end of my last pregnancy so I'm terrified it's kicking in already. I twisted funny in bed so keep telling myself it's just a coincidence. 1 more day till half term where I'll be in charge of just one three year old instead of 20....

JBCG · 25/10/2018 18:38

Anyone else really struggling with the waiting? I feel I have learnt over the last two weeks just how impatient I am! My follow up scan from my cramping earlier this week isn't until the 5th november and I just received my booking in appointment which is on the 15th November! I can't believe how hard I'm finding it! Just want to know everything is okay now!

rollerskaterdata · 25/10/2018 20:51

Hi all, dropped off the radar a bit as I moved house this week and it's been manic. I'll catch up on posts later. I'm freaking out at the moment as I'm spotting, didn't have this with DS and my husband is out of the country with work at the moment so I'm all alone until Saturday. I called my out of hours and they said because I'm not in pain and it's light bleeding I don't fit the criteria to be referred to my local EPU. So it's watch and wait at the moment. I'd booked a private scan for next week so will see if I can move that to sooner. I still feel pregnant and have symptoms but I'm a mess at the moment and I think it's the being alone without DH that is making it that much worse

Ilovesuperman · 25/10/2018 21:14

Hi rollerskaterdata I had red bleeding with my son and he's a healthy five year old. Try not to worry if you can. Thoughts are with you tonight. How far are you? Could it be late implantation blood?

MadeInCornwallx3 · 25/10/2018 21:22

How are you @Skee ? Did you have a scan?

Thinking of you!

socktastic · 25/10/2018 21:41

@JBCG I'm pretty impatient too so I hate the waiting. Time seems to slow down and what makes it worse is I've had a couple of mcs about this time too so I'm constantly symptom spotting too!

Not nauseous yet (touch wood) but boobs are so sore, I'm tired (yet can't sleep well) having the most bizarre and vivid dreams - which I actually look forward to now too. And I cannot stop eating. Gone to bed before I eat the contents of the fridge!

socktastic · 25/10/2018 21:43

Meant to add @JBCG how is your cramping now? Hopefully it's a good sign they've given you a scan date for later down the line? I do hope you're feeling ok though

Kimbishop86 · 25/10/2018 21:47

@rollerskaterdata try not to worry, I had bleeding for 8-9 days some red, some brown and the scan showed absolutely everything is fine.i also didn’t have it with DS so was freaking out but I’m sure you’ll be the same so try not to worry. If you have no pain and it’s just spotting I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about. Hopefully you can get the scan moved forward to put your mind at rest. X

JBCG · 25/10/2018 22:20

Hope you're okay @rollerskaterdata x

@socktastic this is my first pregnancy so I just have no idea what to expect so that's why I'm freaking out a little bit! Plus I know it shouldn't necessarily have an effect on me but DP has gone through two MCs with an ex so he is really nervous. Cramping has stopped for now thank god. I was spotting too for a few days but I'm trying to put it down to being earlier than I thought I was and it being implantation bleeding.. but I'm not sure. I'm just nervous and impatient!

toomanyflatwhites · 26/10/2018 06:19

Hope you're ok @rollerskaterdata, my DP was away for a week early in my last pregnancy and even though nothing particular happened I was a wreck being alone.
Thinking of you too @Skee and anyone else having a worrying time.
I've had another mostly sleepless night with severe stomach ache - I think I might have an issue with eating peppers as just realised I have had them in every meal the last 3 days where the pain has started afterwards. It's high up, just under my ribs, so pretty sure it's digestive (and/or stress related) but wondering if I should maybe see the doctor just to be on the safe side?

SassehMonsta · 26/10/2018 06:47

Toomanyflatwhites - sounds like gallbladder pain in my experience. Was dinner particularly greasy, oily or fatty? It's horrendous pain and I suffered last time unknowingly - people kept telling me it was growing pains as it.hit 2nd trimester and third, but continued post birth. I had my gallbladder removed post-birth.

I hope it's not, for your sake! But do go see the doctor please.

toomanyflatwhites · 26/10/2018 06:53

Wow really @SassehMonsta? You poor thing! I just thought it was stress, pregnancy and crappy digestion but maybe I should be getting it checked out just in case it's actually something happening. Thank you!

Skee · 26/10/2018 07:03

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all of your kind messages, I really appreciate it x x

By the time I get back to my post, I’ve forgotten who’s question I’m answering, but I think you asked about symptoms @Curlywurly3?

I’ve been having some strong cramping and bleeding, and woke up yesterday with a dull achy pain on one side. Called the doc who gave me the epu number and they brought me in for a scan that afternoon to rule out ectopic pregnancy.

Thankfully not ectopic, the pain is most likely coming from a cyst on my ovary, so relieved about that. They found a wee sac and dated me at 5+2 which is exactly where I thought. But they’re a wee bit concerned about some bleeding in my womb, so I’ve to go back next week for another scan. Fingers crossed I make it, it’s going to be a long week 😩

Skee · 26/10/2018 07:21

Hope you’re ok @rollerskaterdata, moving house is pretty stressy on its own! Hope you’re DH is home soon x x

@JBCG, time seems to go backwards when you’re pregnant, I totally understand 😩

Absolutely no harm in going to the doc toomanyflatwhites, they’ll likely be able to give you something to help x x

@SassehMonsta, that sounds awful! 😱

I hope your appointment goes well today Reastiepeace and they give you something to help x x

Lovely news Stellarfox!

Thinking of you today @Poppyseed2, let us know how you get on x x

Much love to everyone else, and congratulations and welcome to the new joiners!! 👋🎉 x x

toasterstrudle · 26/10/2018 07:50

Congrats on the recent scans!

@Skee, fingers crossed your cramping and bleeds are all just part of the implantation process. It's not nice to be worried.

@JBCG I sympathise with the anxiety, I found pregnancy really stressful last time with all the worry. It actually made life with a newborn really easy though, because I suddenly felt like it wasn't just all down to me to be responsible for the life, if that makes sense!

I'm 6+3 today and my nausea has kicked in well and truly. Got to hold it together in front of 30 ten year olds, wish me luck! Thank god it's Friday!

Stormwhale · 26/10/2018 07:51

@Reastiepeace - good luck with your appointment. They seem to take hg very seriously now so hopefully they will really help you. You can't go on like this for another 15 weeks!

@rollerskaterdata - so sorry you are so scared sweet. Hopefully you have just overdone it a bit with the move and the spotting will settle down. Has it changed at all over night?

@skee - glad you were told baby is in the right place, but crossing fingers for you that next week your scan shows the bleeding in the womb was just a blip and everything is progressing ok.

@kescilly - I just grabbed some canestan cream as that is safe to use in pregnancy. I wanted to rip my bits off so wasn't going to wait for a gp appointment! Hope you find some relief soon. The cream has really helped me, but I was told last time the message is also safe, but to use my fingers to insert it instead of the applicator.

Very sick and exhausted here. I ended up having to tell dd about the baby as she was getting herself in a state worrying about what was going on. Being 5, she notices everything! She is absolutely thrilled and keeps checking to see if my belly is getting bigger. It's so cute. We went for a snooze together yesterday and she was stroking my tummy as we went to sleep. So lovely.

Stormwhale · 26/10/2018 07:55

*pessary not message

stellarfox · 26/10/2018 08:10

@Skee glad your first scan went well and good luck with the next one! I had a scan in the epu at 5 weeks and they said there was fluid in my womb then too (although I don’t know if they meant blood or other fluid?) but they wanted me to go back in but I wasnt able to due to a holiday so we left it and all looked ok yesterday. The doctor had said to me at the time that some fluid is normal so I wasn’t too worried. Definitely good to take any free scans though to give you peace of mind. I am so grateful for the nhs!

Thinking of those with scans today! I’m finally feeling a bit nauseous. Nearly threw up yesterday having breakfast.

coastergirl · 26/10/2018 08:53

Morning all. Hope you are all ok. Thinking of those who are worried or sick.

I had a GP appointment yesterday to discuss management of my anxiety during pregnancy. Unfortunately as the EPU have already said they will only scan me if there is a clinical reason, the gp said my only option for reassurance is a private scan. I think we are going to wait until 8 weeks and if all seems ok we will go for it. I'm 6+2 today, the exact day I started bleeding last time.

My little one has been poorly since the weekend. D & V overnight Saturday/Sunday then a cough from Monday and cold yesterday. I was going to ask the GP to have a quick look at him while I was there anyway, even though I wasn't unduly worried. Then literally as I was talking to the doctor he got suddenly much worse. So hot, floppy, falling asleep. We stripped him off super fast to check for a rash as it happened so fast (no rash). His temperature was 39.5, breathing and heart rate too fast. She could hear a murmur (he had one as a baby and a tiny hole was found in his heart but it resolved itself by 12 months) and his tonsils looked bad, so she sent us straight down to paediatric A&E. Scary. I didn't have any money, drinks, nappies etc with me as it was meant to be a quick appointment five minutes away. Anyway they got his temperature down in hospital but it took a while and he was so floppy until then. He has tonsillitis and an ear infection. Have to have his murmur checked up on in two weeks. Nightmare. He's on the mend now with regular painkillers and antibiotics but I'm so tired!

Sorry for the essay!
