6 weeks and 5 days and I’m still worried :( I’m so scared something is going to go wrong, that they’ll scan me and there won’t be anything there. Trying to hold off a little longer for a scan, my first line was faint on dc27 which makes me think maybe I found out early and I may be less pregnant than I think. Also just want to book one so I can see if it’s ok

SassehMonsta · 26/10/2018 09:33

Gosh @coastergirl - not what you needed! Glad to hear DS is ok. DD came down with a sudden temp last night, so dosed her up on calpol and she asked to leave grannie and granddads - unheard of! We have to drag her screaming most evenings we are there. She fell asleep in the car before dinner and then was up in the night every half hr from 2:30 until 6, when she decided it was time to get up. I spent a few hours in her room on the floor. Also not a good night for me!

I am wearing my Halloween t-shirt today to work :) Not too much of a bump, but enough to show :) Casual Fridays ftw!

I'm shattered though. Zzzzz

coles85 · 26/10/2018 09:57

Hello everyone!

Nice to hear the positive stories from those who have had their scans, and fingers crossed for all the lovely ladies who are going through stresses with spotting or just having horrid morning sickness. It's such a scary time, and so unpredictable.

We got an early scan yesterday, and it was so exciting to see a little heartbeat! So far everything is fine. She dated me at 6 weeks when I was sure I was 7+3 (if 6 weeks is accurate then I conceived when I was travelling with work Hmm haha!) so now counting down the days to my official scan at the start of Dec! The lady was so so lovely that did the scan, she really got my excitement going!

Can someone remind me who I should PM to get added to the FB group? x

Pigriver · 26/10/2018 10:01

@coastergirl, what a nightmare. This has happened to me with ds before. That feeling is terrible. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon and you get some respite.
Still weeks away from anything happening here, 3 weeks til booking in and then another 3 for a scan. We didn't pay for extra with DS so will try to hold out.i was hoping this first trimester wouldn't be as slow second time round but it seems I was wrong

toomanyflatwhites · 26/10/2018 10:11

@coastergirl how scary, so glad it was nothing serious in the end but still no fun.
I went to see the GP this morning because of my on off stomach pain since Tuesday (including 2 sleepless nights). He checked thoroughly and said it's most likely acid overload caused by stress or diet and he is confident it's not directly related to pregnancy. Only thing he could recommend was gaviscon...
I do feel slightly reassured but also still have the stomach ache (not as bad as it was though) and am knackered from not sleeping. Booked today as annual leave and was planning on doing something nice (DD at nursery!) but not sure if I'm up to anything more than laying on the sofa!

JBCG · 26/10/2018 10:23

Good luck to all those waiting scans today xx

I just wondered if anyone else finds it painful to sleep on one side? If I try and sleep on my left side, my boobs are in absolute agony and I can't get to sleep/ it wakes me up. My right side is absolutely fine and not painful (and I'm desperately trying not to sleep on my back!). Is this normal? My boobs are pretty huge and sore now anyway but it is so so painful on that side! Bit of a random question I know, sorry!

rollerskaterdata · 26/10/2018 10:37

Thank you for the well wishes ladies. Had no more spotting, it was only twice when I wiped yesterday evening. Spoke to GP this morning and she won't refer me to the EPU so I've booked a private scan for this afternoon. I really do hate early pregnancy and can't wait for the 12 week mark. Also can't wait for hubby to come home this weekend. Best wishes to others having scans in the coming days x

@coastergirl sorry to hear about your DS that must've been very scary. Something similar happened to my DS a few weeks ago and it was really terrifying, turns out he had a nasty ear infection. I'm glad your LO is on the mend now x

MadeInCornwallx3 · 26/10/2018 11:15

Glad you've had no further spotting @rollerskaterdata / hopefully the scan later gives you the reassurance you need.

@poppyseed2 Good luck for today! Fingers crossed!

@coastergirl That sounds awful! I hate it when they are ill and go like that, it's such a worrying time. Hopefully on the mend now and you can have an easier time of it!

Reastiepeace · 26/10/2018 11:36

Can I ask what’s probably a really obvious question and I feel I should know Blush . Could someone tell me how I work out how many weeks/days I am? LMP 21 sept, AF due 16th Oct (short cycle) so going by days since af late I’m 5 + 3 but gp this morning put me on 5 weeks as it’s 5 weeks since LMP. I know it’s only the difference of 3 days but 5 1/2 weeks seems better than 5 weeks!

JBCG I seem to remember last time I felt more comfortable on my I think left side but there didn’t seem to be an obvious reason for it

Roller good luck for scan this afternoon, crossing fingers.

coastergirl · 26/10/2018 12:02

Thanks for all your thoughts. He's actually driving me crazy today! Obviously feeling way better.

NatalieBee · 26/10/2018 12:10

Hi everyone, just checking in! I have been reading the thread but god it moves so fast! Haven't been around much as like @coastergirl my little girl hasn't been well and we've been at hospital with her, she has ongoing bladder/kidney issues that got horrendous again at the weekend.

Hello to all newbiesStar
And loving all the early scans Grin I'm continuing to have weekly ones because of my recurrent mc history had my 9 week one and it's so bloody lovely to see all the growth and flickering on it!

Kescilly · 26/10/2018 12:17

Sorry that I’m struggling to keep up and missing people!

@coastergirl that sounds so scary, I’m glad he’s feeling better now. How are you doing now?

@Napssavelives I wasn’t able to relax until we had our early scan. It was expensive but I think worth it. Honestly I think it would have been the best possible place for me to receive bad news, if it had come to that. The room was so comfortable and she was absolutely brilliant. When are you thinking of booking your scan?

@Reastiepeace you might just have to wait for a dating scan, I think most people have some discrepancy. Going by LMP my DD should have been June 4th, I thought it was June 1st based on OPKs, and my scan put me at May 31st. I mentally went by LMP because I figured that’s what the NHS would do initially.

Congrats @coles85! I’m not on FB so can’t remember who it is, but if you scroll back a bit I’m sure you’ll find the name.

Is anyone taking B6 for nausea? I was taking it while TTC and never stopped. I didn’t realize until today that it could affect nausea, but I haven’t had much, so I was wondering if that was partially the reason. Or maybe just a coincidence? Worth a shot for those suffering, perhaps.

Napssavelives · 26/10/2018 12:41

@Kescilly for 8 weeks, so next Monday hopefully.

Kescilly · 26/10/2018 12:45

That’s exciting! Now you just need something to distract you until then.

SassehMonsta · 26/10/2018 12:56

I dated myself originally based on LMP - I would have been 8 weeks this week. However, when I reviewed my data log of period stuff, I spotted I ovulated on the 5th Sept and we also dtd (first time since DHs op, so wrote it in!). I re-dated myself from there, knowing that I have a very short time between end of period and ovulation.

My scan then put me forward another 3 days and I am now going with the 9+3 today.

Reastiepeace · 26/10/2018 13:09

Thanks, I’m thinking of getting an early scan around the 9 week mark so that I have something closer to work towards aiming for. Gp referred me to Mws this morning and signed me off work

Canters15 · 26/10/2018 13:11

Can I join you ladies?
I'm 32 and am 7+3 with DC 2, due 11th June. Have a DS who is almost 2 and we also had a miscarriage earlier this year at 10 weeks.
I'm in Singapore currently though am British, care is v different here, I have already had one scan and have a second scan next week. Still quite anxious as we saw a heartbeat at 6 and 8 weeks last time too though.
Just started some anti emetics for nausea, I usually get HG so pleased it's 'just' nausea this time though was feeling totally grim until the tablets kicked in!

stellarfox · 26/10/2018 13:24

@coastergirl sounds awful! Hugs

@Napssavelives I think the sooner you have a scan the better for your anxiety. You’re far enough that they should be able to see something so I’d just get it booked if I were you!

@Reastie I would go on your LMP as if you count 2 weeks back from your expected af it would be shorter I think. As midwifes etc tend to go on LMP I think that’s probably the best way unless you were tracking with OPKs and temping? That’s how I figured mine out and it was exact!

Mrsssmith11 · 26/10/2018 13:25

Wow, This thread does move fast. Hello to all the new people. I don't get a chance to get on every day.

I'm 8+0 today, had my booking appointment yesterday, all fine. She confirmed I'll get extra scans and monitoring this time due to my mid-trimester mc earlier this year. Our notes are all online and I was just reading them at lunch there and it looks like my scan will be 21 November. That seems ages away! I'll be 11+3

To those ladies who were feeling bad about worrying about all the thing you will be giving up. I felt exactly the same. I was 34 when I had dd, had a good job, a great social life, was always out partying. I can't lie, I found it hard for the first wee while after having her. I mourned the life I had before, I could no longer just decide to do stuff at the drop of a hat, and I breastfed her so I couldn't ever have anyone else look after her. It was tough, but now she is my absolute world. Had a bit of a wobble yesterday at my appointment because she was talking about breastfeeding, and I had a bit of a panic like "omg can I really do this again." I feel ok now though and I know we'll be grand.

Torsz · 26/10/2018 13:37

I'm feeling all frustrated at not having my 12 week scan booked in - we're hoping to announce to our parents immediately afterwards so want to know when it'll be so we can make plans to visit them all!

I had my booking in appointment on Tuesday and just phoned the hospital - they said they haven't had any paperwork through yet so can't book it until they do - and then I should get a letter in the next couple of weeks. I'm 9+2 today so don't want to be 11 weeks before even finding out the date of the scan?!

Frustrating that everywhere seems to do it differently 😒

poppyseed2 · 26/10/2018 13:44

Sorry to bring the mood down, but didn't want to disappear without saying goodbye. My scan this morning didn't go so well. They did an internal, but couldn't find any evidence of a pregnancy. Got to wait for repeat bloods in 48 hours, but it looks like I've already miscarried. Am trying to look on the bright side, that at least it wasn't too painful and I don't need any intervention.

Thank you all so much for the support over the last couple of weeks. You're a great bunch of ladies and I know you'll be a lifeline for each other through all the ups and downs of the next 8-ish months and beyond!

Wishing you all easy pregnancies, smooth births and healthy, adorable babies next June!

xxxx

hexagon01 · 26/10/2018 13:48

@JBCG are you trying not to sleep on your back because you're pregnant or because of another issue? If it's because you're pregnant, that's not something you have to worry about for quite a while yet! It's to do with the baby resting on one of your blood vessels and not getting enough blood flow, but that's not an issue until well into the second trimester. I think I was sleeping on my back until about 25 weeks last time :)

coastergirl · 26/10/2018 13:53

@poppyseed2 I'm very sorry. I was in the same situation of leaving the March group when I miscarried. I looked on the same bright side as you, my body clearly knew what it was doing and I didn't need any intervention except for them finding out it was actually happening. Take good care of yourself x

Sorry I can't remember who asked me how I am now...I'm fine thank you. Little one is driving me bananas so he's clearly feeling way better!

hexagon01 · 26/10/2018 13:57

Oh @poppyseed2 I'm so sorry. So much love, look after yourself xxx

toomanyflatwhites · 26/10/2018 14:10

@poppyseed2 I'm so sorry - I (like @coastergirl) was on an April EDD bus and had to leave too after an early loss. I was the same as you in that there was no major obvious miscarriage. My body knew what to do and I got my next period at the usual time, so hopefully you'll be in a similar boat. Even if you feel kind of ok it still sucks, I know. Hope you and your DP are ok.
