I get a letter every year telling me to have a blood test re gd Confused

Anni what a nightmare journey in, please tell me you told work and you can sit down with a cup of tea to recover?

I am counting the minutes until my gp apt on Friday morning where we are discussing a plan for my pg nausea. Last time it was so bad it wrecked me. I saw my gp before getting pg and said I wanted to get pg but I was so scared because of the issues around sickness. Fx it goes well as everything in my life is literally focused on it

Skee · 23/10/2018 09:35

That’s really good going @pollykins! Well done! It took me 6 months to lose the 15kg I gained through pregnancy!

@annihall, bloody hell! That sounds terrifying! Are you ok? I hope you’ve told your work - can you tell them you’re feeling unwell and head home early? x x x

annihall · 23/10/2018 09:59

Thanks everyone, I'm ok but this just took my last bit of energy this morning and now I'm struggling through the day.
I have told them but I'm the only woman in the office and the guys don't really pay much attention to what I'm saying ha, so they were all like "oh well that's annoying" and moved on...
I've treated myself to a half an hour break and a cuppa, can't go home as I'm on tight deadlines and already stayed home yesterday, so I guess I'll just have to get through the day and have a really early night tonight ;)

Ilovesuperman · 23/10/2018 10:13

Hello everyone, new to Mumsnet and this discussion. I got my faint positive at 8dpo and it's got stronger now at 11dpo! It will be my second child due end of June if all goes well :0)
I had an emcs with first, PTSD and then pnd so am feeling fragile, excited and terrified when I think about it too much! Please say I'm not the only one.
Thanks for reading

Littleray84 · 23/10/2018 10:56

Hi all I'm now 5 +5 . Very nauseas throughout the day I've only actually been sick twice but have been dry heaving lots 😂 sorry tmi.

I've been having some really niggily cramps tho on the left side over the last 2 days and what I think is round ligament pain if I turn over in bed or stand up too quickly.

I've booked a gp appointment for 430 to try and get them to put my mind at rest.

How's everyone else doing? X

Tazz18 · 23/10/2018 10:58

Just found out I'm pregnant on Monday.

Still I'm shock but have an early scan for Thursday which can't come quick enough tbh! I should be due 1st of June.

Skee · 23/10/2018 11:05

Hope the rest of your day goes quickly and uneventfully @annihall

Welcome and congratulations @ilovesuperman, @littleray and @tazz! x x

LeslieYep · 23/10/2018 11:06

Can I join? Just had a bfp this morning!

Have a DD who's just turned 2 and due 26th June!

Skee · 23/10/2018 11:10

Hi @LeslieYep 👋 congratulations! x

LeslieYep · 23/10/2018 11:13

Thanks! @skee
Congratulations to everyone else with their bfp's!

poppyseed2 · 23/10/2018 11:49

Congrats to the newcomers, and to those with successful scans!!

@annihall hope the day isn't dragging too much, and that you can crawl into bed nice and early tonight!

I had a sleepless night, and a busy day, so have treated myself to a proper coffee to keep me going, so good after the last two week of decaf

fee1234 · 23/10/2018 11:57

I've turned into a crazy scan obsessed person and booked another one for tonight. They are only £30 at the place just down from my work and it's so tempting passing by every night!

Kescilly · 23/10/2018 12:27

Congrats to our newbies on their BFPs! It’s exciting to still have newcomers on this thread.

My first scan is tomorrow evening and it’s all that I can think about. I still can’t believe I was lucky enough to get pregnant. It seems a little too good to be true.

sk17 · 23/10/2018 12:29

Hii,

Im due in June too. Just found out a week ago and absolutely terrified. My first time Sad

Feel soooo nauseous at work all the time! HELP pls

LeslieYep · 23/10/2018 12:53

Congrats #sk17
It is scary, but with the sickness you have to find what works (or otherwise) for you.
PP have mentioned ginger and mints. My friend nibbled crackers almost constantly as eating was the only thing to alleviate it.

I didn't find anything to help, but I was never actually sick. I just felt like I couldn't be further than dashing distance of a toilet...

SM2016 · 23/10/2018 13:10

Hi ladies I’m due around 12th June. I got pregnant after coming off the pill so I’m not sure how they’ll calculate my due date anyone else in the same position? Have my midwife booking appointment next week. This will be my second baby I’ve been having bad nausea and been off work since last week because I just can’t face the 2hr commute! I suffered with Morning sickness in my first pregnancy for a few weeks but not this early! Any tips would be appreciated x

SassehMonsta · 23/10/2018 13:11

Hello first timers and new faces!

I stupidly forgot my second dose of odanestron last night, and paid for it this morning - I threw up the liquid I took this mornings dose with, along with plenty of bile. I did keep the tablet down, apparently, as I then managed breakfast and now lunch, and copious snacks in the meantime. I have reduced my cyclzine as well, as it wasn't needed so much unless I have a bad day.

Also, I went to bed before 7pm last night. It was WONDERFUL. I highly recommend it! (DD was in bed at half 6, and asleep by 6:50!).

She was really upset yesterday about not being a good big sister, because she doesn't always behave and gets told off a lot. I had to explain to her that her behaviour doesn't change that shes a good person and will make a wonderful sister. Then this morning, she asked "what if I stand on the baby?!" so we had a whole long "what if" conversation, and I informed her I wouldn't leave the baby on the floor without letting her know about it....! 3 year olds are very funny....

tron84 · 23/10/2018 13:19

Hi everyone! I am looking for some advice or where to go to get information. I visited my GP today to confirm my pregnancy and find out what happens next. She advised I will be referred to St. Georges, Guys & St. Thomas's or Chelsea & Westminster hospital and the choice is up to me.
I have no clue which is the best/worst and to be honest Google is so divided.
Its my first pregnancy and I am very anxious of the unknown. I have heard horror stories of NHS wards, at the same time Private Care is so expensive here.
Does anyone know how I can find a rating or clear tangible evidence to compare the three, particularly the quality of the staff and the venue.
Appreciate any tips as my GP said I have to decide asap

toomanyflatwhites · 23/10/2018 13:31

Hi @tron84 I had DD at st Thomas's and was asked by the doctor which hospital I wanted and answered on the spot without doing any research 🤣 Based it on location though. There is a website for nhs ratings - if you put nhs hospital maternity ranking into google it should be be top result. There is also a CQC report (care quality commission) carried out in 2017 where you can search by NHS trust.
But honestly, I would say it's probably best to go with the one you can travel to most easily if you don't have a preference (though saying that apparently St. George's is listed as "required improvement"...)

Reastiepeace · 23/10/2018 13:36

Tron is there a local to where you live fb mums group you can join and ask? I k ow where I live thus question comes up every now and again and you hear great first hand advice and opinions from people who have been to the various local hospitals.

I have a question re csections. I had an emergency c section last time. Does this mean if I request one I can have one this time or will they make me try vbac?

Reastiepeace · 23/10/2018 13:44

Posted too soon sass that sounds miserable but at least it shows how well the ondansetron is working. Does it help with feeling sick too?

Hello newbies

LeslieYep · 23/10/2018 13:49

Asked my DD2 this morning if she'd like a brother or sister.
Mr tumble was her response. Good to know.

hexagon01 · 23/10/2018 13:51

@Reastiepeace I think they’ll discuss your options with you, they might try to convince you to have a vbac but I’m fairly sure it’s ultimately your choice. I’m in the same boat after a difficult EMCS last time and feeling a bit nervous about it all.

I’ve come down with an absolute bastard of a cold, combined with nausea and general exhaustion and poorly toddler and I just want to never get out of bed (which is where I am at the moment “working from home”).

coastergirl · 23/10/2018 14:12

I've just called to self refer for antenatal care...eek! Due to my mc in August, the lady I spoke to asked me to call the early pregnancy unit and ask about getting an early scan. I did this but they said all the guidelines say to leave well alone unless there's a clinical reason ie pain or bleeding. I suffer really badly with anxiety and I'm going to find it a struggle. I'm seeing my lovely GP on Thursday, and last time I saw her she suggested trying to get me an early scan if I fell pregnant again. But going off what the EPU said I don't know that she'll get anywhere. I could go for a private scan but I'm a bit scared as that's how we found out things weren't going well last time. Then when I was referred to the hospital, they were quite scathing of the early scans.

On the plus side my gorgeous 3yo toddled in while I was on the phone and said "hello mummy, it's nice to see you!" ❤️

JBCG · 23/10/2018 14:13

@SM2016 same boat as you. I stopped taking the pill on 13th September so no real idea how far along I am (except no more than 5 weeks). Went for an early scan yesterday as I was experiencing cramping on my left side but I'm apparently too early for them to see if it's a viable pregnancy or ectopic. I have to go back for another scan in 2 weeks and the consultant advised me to cancel my holiday I was due to go on next Monday. So now having the joyous battle with the travel insurance company!
