Evening all and welcome to the newbies.

I've just had an incredibly sharp pain in my lower back on the left side which shot straight to my shoulder.. it stopped me from walking and made me cry out, it was only for a few seconds. I instantly worried as I know the shoulder pain is a sign of ectopic but I don't have stomach pain or any spotting. Does anyone have any idea what that was?! X

RC000 · 20/10/2018 21:24

@curlywurly3 have you done anything different today? Sounds like a nerve twinge? Absence of other symptoms very positive.

Welcome newbies x

socktastic · 20/10/2018 21:31

@curlywurly3 I get pinching sensations in various parts of my body when pregnant. Apparently it's the muscles reacting to the progesterone in your body. Possible it was just that? If you're worried even in the slightest though, get it seen to at the doc or mw.

Curlywurly3 · 20/10/2018 21:33

@RC000 nothing out of the ordinary, I was lay on the sofa with my legs over DP and I sat up and swing my legs off to go to the toilet then I had the super sharp pain in lower back/left buttock. I can't feel anything in my shoulder but the pain in my back/buttock is more like a dull pain now x

Curlywurly3 · 20/10/2018 21:35

@socktastic it was more than pinching it was like a sharp shooting pain which stopped me from taking another step for a couple of seconds. It was really painful but now just a dull ache where the shooting pain was x

marshallskychase · 20/10/2018 21:38

Tentatively joining and hope I'll get to stick around!

EDD is 1st July but i'm having an ELCS so likely to be last week in June.

1DD aged 2 (I recognise sunnyscot and socktastic from the June and July 2016 antenatal boards (waves) those boards and the subsequent facebook groups were a lifesaver from me during pregnancy and the early days of parenting.

Still in a bit of shock about the bfp as it's first month trying. It took 6 months with DD!

Finding it a lot more challenging this time round with an active toddler who likes to jump on my tummy really hard and pretend to play "horsey". I'm absolutely exhausted today and had to resort to a little bit of paw patrol to make it through the day!

ThatPlanWorked · 20/10/2018 23:25

Soooo there I was thinking I had awkward cycles, patiently waiting for AF to start so I could track my cycle to start TTC in December and BOOM, BFP this eve. We only had sex once, and naively thought pulling out would be fine Blush.

Going by that I think I’m 4+6, due 23rd June 2019. DH not impressed as had expected things to ‘take time’.

Not intended to offend anyone so apologies in advance. We have DS who is 2. Would be good to make some new friends!

LivingOnAPear · 21/10/2018 06:54

Ugh morning sickness has really ramped up now.
Yesterday even the sun shining through the window made me feel sick.
Can only eat beige food, mints, and apples.

I only actually through up once yesterday but spent the whole day feeling nauseas unless lying down. I’m wondering how bad it has to be to get prescribed something. I just had acupuncture last time but it didn’t work that well.

Hope everyone else is ok this morning.

socktastic · 21/10/2018 07:36

@marshallskychase waves back. Hope all is going well with you. My wee one likes to throw himself around too so I'll need to watch that as I get bigger.

@livingonapear how far along are you? Are you managing to keep things down ok?

toasterstrudle · 21/10/2018 07:59

@LivingOnAPear I was prescribed cyclizine for sickness in my last pregnancy, I think it was because the nausea and vomiting was preventing me from managing my day to day. There's no set test of how much you're vomiting etc - if you feel you need them to get by then they'll prescribe them.

ProseccoBee · 21/10/2018 09:08

Hi everyone, can I join in? Got BFP Friday and very early days at the moment about 4-5 weeks! I think our predicted delivery date is June 29th. I am Ridiculously excited but nervous at the same time! I’m 31 and this will be our first. Congrats to you all also on your BFP!

Kimbishop86 · 21/10/2018 09:14

Annoyingly I’ve had some more bleeding, only a little but for the last couple of days. Had some for about three days last week so was very frustrated to see it again yesterday. I rang the local birthing centre and they advised an emergency gp appointment on Monday and referral for a scan so really hoping I can get an appointment and that the scan is ok! The blood is mainly brown and haven’t had any fresh this time (althoigj I did last week) so fingers crossed. Anyone else experiencing the same? Or has in the last? Worrying myself thinking it’s a mmc

coastergirl · 21/10/2018 09:46

@Kimbishop86 when I had my little boy, I bled on and off until about 9 weeks and had a couple of early scans. He's now three and a half.

I did a cb digital this morning and it came up with 2-3 weeks, which is a bit of a surprise. I guess my dates might be more accurate than I thought.

Kimbishop86 · 21/10/2018 10:08

@coastergirl Glad all worked out for you! That’s very reassuring! I didn’t have this with my last pregnancy so I guess that’s why I’m worried! But no point in dwelling on It! I’m sure it’ll all be fine! Thank you!

mindthechaos · 21/10/2018 10:34

@Kimbishop86 I had brown spotting and the usual twinges with dd1 up until about 8 weeks. I know it doesn’t stop the worry but a bit of spotting is common. I hope you manage to get a scan tomorrow and everything is fine

Kescilly · 21/10/2018 10:41

We really wanted to wait till twelve weeks to tell people, but I can't imagine waiting another month! Anyone else dying to tell their family or friends?

jacquejacque · 21/10/2018 10:51

@Kescilly we have told my mum and my best friend and I had to tell my boss because the spotting happened the night I was supposed to be working an event. We will likely tell MIL and DF tomorrow after the early scan, and maybe some close friends. The rest of the world will have to wait

jacquejacque · 21/10/2018 10:52

But I agree it is TORTURE!

toomanyflatwhites · 21/10/2018 10:55

Morning everyone - hi and welcome to the new joiners and sorry to those of you having spotting. So scary - and I know many people who had it and everything turned out just fine, but it is of course terrifying even if you know that.
I'm 5+5 today and the exhaustion and insatiable hunger seems to have kicked in - just want to eat the WORLD. I piled on so much weight in my first pregnancy (20kg 😳) and am determined not to do the same again, which is easy in theory...but then I just ate a sausage roll and a babybel while making DD a sandwich for a car journey and am still bloody ravenous!! And it's not even 11am!

Kescilly · 21/10/2018 11:11

@jacquejacque was it helpful to have the support when you were spotting? How are you feeling now?

We told my parents a few days after I got my BFP because they live overseas and we happened to be visiting. I knew we wouldn't have another chance to tell them in person. I really want to tell my brother and his wife, but I can't go telling my whole family while waiting a month to say anything to my in-laws.

My family and friends are all in a different country so at least I don't have to actively hide it from them either.

What's everyone up to today?

Kimbishop86 · 21/10/2018 11:12

@mindthechaos thank you! I hope so too, I’ll update the group if I manage to get a scan!

twig1234 · 21/10/2018 11:16

Hello everyone,
Is anyone feeling really dizzy and weak? It's horrible and I didn't have this in previous pregnancies.
I hope the spotting stops for those who are experiencing. I have had it before and all was fine x

Curlywurly3 · 21/10/2018 11:18

Morning Everyone,

@kimbishop try and keep positive and spotting is common, FX you get your scan tomorrow x

Advice needed... We're due to go to Antigua for a wedding in Feb, I'll be 24 weeks then. Does anyone know what the update is with Zika?

twig1234 · 21/10/2018 11:21

Curly, Antigua has moderate risk for zika at present and guidelines are to avoid non essential travel there if pregnant. Have a look on website travel pro health x

Kescilly · 21/10/2018 11:22

Unfortunately the CDC recommends that pregnant women do not travel to Antigua.

"Zika Virus in Pregnancy

A pregnant woman can pass Zika virus to her fetus. Infection during pregnancy can cause serious birth defects. Zika can spread through mosquito bites and sex. CDC recommends special precautions for the following groups:

Women who are pregnant:
You should not travel to Antigua and Barbuda.
If you have a partner who lives in or has traveled to Antigua and Barbuda or any other area with risk of Zika, either use condoms or do not have sex for the rest of the pregnancy."
