@beardotdo If scans were that cheap where I am I'd be down there every week!! I'm also deciding when I will go. I'm thinking in two weeks time when I'll be 8+2. Scans are £95 here!! I'm so nervous as I had a missed miscarriage last year and didn't find out till I was 9 and a half weeks. Ended up having to have an ERPC when I would have been almost 17 weeks. I'm feeling a bit 'ignorance is bliss' at the moment, but at the same time I'd love to see a tiny heartbeat.

Curlywurly3 · 19/10/2018 13:27

They cost between £89 and £99 here too, I'm thinking I might have one at 8 weeks. I took my form into the doctors to register with the midwife yesterday.. this is all new to me and is very exciting! I'm also nervous!

curlypasta · 19/10/2018 13:31

Scans are between 80 and 90 here but a gender scan at 16 weeks is only £39?!

Stormwhale · 19/10/2018 13:54

Not a good day here. I woke up and all symptoms are gone and I'm in pain. I called the epu and they can't scan me until Monday. They have told me to go straight to a&e if I start bleeding or pain gets worse in the mean time.

I only had a scan two days ago, but this just seems not right. I have been very tearful today, and really worried.

Curlywurly3 · 19/10/2018 13:58

@stormwhale sorry to hear that, perhaps go to a&e, you don't want to be worrying all over the weekend xx

jacquejacque · 19/10/2018 13:59

@Stormwhale oh love I'm sorry you're going through this horrible uncertainty too. Holding your hand

SassehMonsta · 19/10/2018 14:06

Hand holding for StormWhale - don't forget, symptoms.do come and go. I hope things pick up and the weekends not too long for you xx

Welcome to the new faces!

I'm about to take a relaxing bath as DD is at my mum's and DH is at work until 4pm. My work chucks us out at 1pm on a Friday now (I only work until 2pm the rest of the week though!). Peace.

This evening can't come fast enough. I'm so nervous- I don't remember being this bad last time, but then had a super-early scan last time compared to this one.

My apps are giving me different dates so hopefully the scan will help set those to rest. One says I'm 8+2, 8+1, (based on ov) and original guess was 7+4 (based on LMP).

Stormwhale · 19/10/2018 14:33

Thanks guys. I'm trying to keep a shred of hope, but I'm struggling. I won't go to a&e unless things get worse as our a&e is massively over stretched as it is. It's so worrying, but it's not an emergency and my life isn't at risk. I'm going to distract myself by doing things with dd and hope the weekend passes quickly. Thank you for being kind to me.

mindthechaos · 19/10/2018 14:47

@stormwhale so sorry you're going through this. Hoping this is a good weekend for you that passes quickly x

Skee · 19/10/2018 16:27

Oh I’m struggling to keep up!

@Stormwhale, hand holding, I hope the weekend passes quickly for you and fingers crossed all is well x x x

Skee · 19/10/2018 16:27

Glad to hear things have improved a little @jacquejacque x x x

Skee · 19/10/2018 16:31

Hi 👋And congratulations to the new joiners! 🎉 x x x

Is anyone else getting totally different symptoms compared to previous pregnancies? I knew I was pregnant with DC1 because my boobs were so sore, but this time they don’t seem to hurt at all? I do however, feel like my stomach is burning a hole in itself 😩 Been feeling absolutely dreadful since yesterday afternoon... I did get heartburn until about 32wks last time?! x x

poppyseed2 · 19/10/2018 17:01

@Stormwhale handholding, I hope things improve over the weekend.

Reastie · 19/10/2018 17:35

Storm and Jacque thinking of you both. Waiting for symptoms and scans can seem a lifetime away when it’s so all encompassing and you’re so desperate to know. Storm, if it helps I remember last time about 8 weeks I suddenly had a day or two where I felt fine and was convinced I was having a mc, I rung my gp but she couldn’t get emergency scan apt until 2 weeks after but it was ok in the end, as soon as I stared feeling dire again of course I started wishing I felt human again!

I’m so tired today. Don’t know how you workers are concentrating! Have been pottering round the holiday use but dm called about half a hour ago and I had to dash out to do an errand. It knocked me for six just walking upstairs the road quickly to get something done. I had to go home and lie down to recover Blush . Although I’ll take every other symptom over nausea. Does anyone know if tiredness gets progressively worse through first trimester or ifnit just sort of maintains its level? I can’t see how I will do anything if it gets worse continually for two months!

Skee · 19/10/2018 17:42

@Reastie, I don’t remember feeling overly exhausted last time round, (this time I have a toddler though, so it’s already more challenging 😬) but I do remember feeling much better in the semiconductor trimester, although I suffered with pregsomnia 😴

Reastie · 19/10/2018 17:44

I remember last time not having a decent nights sleep the entire pg, something in the hormones meant no matter how tired I was I would wake up all the time every niGht from even before I found out I was pg! In good news at least somfar I’ve slept well. My eyes were falling asleep last night at 7:30,it’s getting earlier every night!

Skee · 19/10/2018 17:54

Semiconductor. No idea how that happened 🧐

Glad to hear you’re sleeping better Reastie! I was awake most of last night with an acidy stomach 😩

curlypasta · 19/10/2018 18:20

Semiconductor Grin I’m still relatively symptom free apart from looking 5months gone already. Calm
Before the storm!
But talking last night and 12 weeks is December which is mad at work, so we’ve decided to wait til jan to tell everyone there Shock it’s going to be so hard! (Will tell boss but not the team I manage) luckily winter clothes cover a multitude of things!!

Pigriver · 19/10/2018 18:25

God I was utterly exhausted during the first trimester with my first. I used to have a nap when I got home from work every night! It's not kicked in yet but I've earned dh I need to keep on top of the tiredness as a toddler plus running a nursery means I'm shattered at the best of times anyway. I'm only 5 weeks but hoping I have a few weeks before the nausea andbthe acute sense of smell kicks in.

hexagon01 · 19/10/2018 19:03

@Skee same boobs wise but I’m not sure if it’s because I’m still breastfeeding DS so everything is a little bit different. Symptoms wise I have the odd day of complete exhaustion and a severe case of bloat but nothing much yet! I’m feeling a thousand times more laid back about everything this time though, I don’t think I can emotionally exhaust myself the way I did last time with a toddler to think about.

Skee · 19/10/2018 19:44

Long may it continue @curlypasta and @Pigriver - sorry to hear about feeling bloated though, I’m a bit that way tonight.

Reassuring to hear @hexagon, although I stopped feeding a while back now, maybe my boobs have stretched to max so it’s just like refilling a balloon 😳 certainly feels that way 😂

Kimbishop86 · 19/10/2018 20:19

Have a look on Groupon for early scans, only £39 where I am!

curlyrebel · 19/10/2018 22:48

Thanks @Curlywurly3. Lol I noticed that too! Hopefully it won't get confusing.

Does anyone else have a sensitive nose? I keep smelling food but it can't be from my house

curlyrebel · 19/10/2018 22:53

@Skee yes totally different to the first time round. No sore boobs, not as much nausea (so far), not as tired. Basically I'd hardly know I was pregnant! I am more bloated though. Heartburn sounds horrible and so early on too!

Kescilly · 19/10/2018 23:03

@curlyrebel my sense of smell is usually terrible but I started smelling everything at four weeks. I think it’s eased up a bit now but it’s hard to say for sure.
