Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Teenagers again - so sorry to hear your news. I can't imagine what you must be feeling like, particularly when our family situations are so similar age-wise (ours and kids)

I'm attempting to clear out our garage at the moment - reading all the bad news on here I keep wondering if I should be just putting my feet up and watching telly, but then again watever is meant to be for me will be so I'd best get on with it.

I don't mind buying maternity clothes (dashed to mothercare for a pair of cropped trousers this morning after the button on my only remaining fitting pair went "ping"!) and I was in Mamas and Papas in Oxford St yesterday where I saw a gorgeous newborn white all-in-one - ideal for a unisex "going-home-outfit" - but i couldn't bring myself to buy that yet. Think I'll feel different when she/he moves and I can feel it.

After Skibump's news I was back to worrying again - I thought once you'd seen the heartbeat, unless you had definite mc signs all was OK - didn't realise it could just "stop". Why do we put ourselves through this? Oh yes, that wonderful feeling when you have that newborn baby in your arms and just think "wow"...

Big smiles to all for a good day

Babato · 13/06/2007 13:20

Hi there
I am new to this website.
I am 9 weeks exactly and due on 16th january with my first.
Just wondering if anyone can tell me when I should expect to hear from hospital/midwife as I saw my doctor 4 weeks ago and not much happened there - she didn't even confirm pregnancy by doing another test - just said home tests are so effective that she didn't have to.
Said would make a referral to the hospital but wish I had asked how much notice I would get of my booking appointment/scan.
Can anyone help?
Babato [smile}

beller · 13/06/2007 13:21

whats UTI??

Gingeme and Bettymamma -
she had a pool int he living room and was 4 cm, her hubbie had somehow erected a rope from the ceiling (didnt show you how), and she was int h epoosl on her front swinging from it.....this went on for about 4 hours..then contractions stopped and didnt start for another 2 days!!
Did make me lasugh when she went down stairs for some fish and eggs half way through! Hadnt thought of a home birth, maybe i will, although like i said, could be dificult if i have sold my house and in middle of setting up the nursery!

Naetha · 13/06/2007 14:26

Have just got myself into a complete tiz about getting water poisoning because I've drunk about 4 pints of water in the last 4 hours to try and help with this damn cystitis!

I think I'm just being a little bit daft, but I'd better eat some salt and vinegar crisps just to be safe!

Silly what you get worked up over isn't it!

Babato · 13/06/2007 14:27

Thanks for adding me to the list Awen and for your advice - I will probably call my doc if I haven't heard anything by end of the week

PinkElephant · 13/06/2007 16:43

Hi all,

Really daft question of the day here....but just thought I'd better check....is it ok to use fake tan whilst pregnant?

Naetha - ouch to cystitis! Got any lemon barley or cranberry juice? Its far more effective than water on its own.

Interesting re these home births.....

PinkElephant · 13/06/2007 16:44

Babato - I would phone your midwife up at 8wks and have a chat with her about an appointment over te next few weeks and she can book you in for your 12wks scan

plummymummy · 13/06/2007 16:45

teenagersagain - so very sad to hear of your loss It's horrible when you've had no symptoms of m/c and only find out at scan that it's not viable. Hope you and dh are able to decide what's best for you. I hear the op is often reversible too.

Bettymamma · 13/06/2007 16:46

Hope you're ok Naetha - I often have these types of panics too. Normally that I've overdosed the baby with too much salt because of my cravings of all things processed.

welcome babato

beller that is hilarious!

oh dear. Colleague at work (and mum of 4) has just spotted the bump (it so grows this time of the day). A bloke asked me earlier if I've had a boob job as well. My mum said I wouldn't get away with the secret for much longer!

sabinar · 13/06/2007 17:15

hey PinkElephant - I'm not sure but I was wondering the same thing this morning, so that's two of us with the same daft question

plummymummy · 13/06/2007 19:02

Dunno about fake tan but can't see how it would be harmful. Maybe google fake tan in pregnancy and see if anything comes up.

Coriander73 · 13/06/2007 19:26

hijack...Pussycat, don't know if you know but Trace has had her baby girl called Chloe!! She's on birth annoucements.....hope you are well

Naetha · 13/06/2007 19:55

Yeah a couple of (observant) people guessed straight away due to the fact that I had huge and very unhideable nipples for the first couple of weeks!

I have more of a jelly belly than a bump, but its certainly growing bigger! Unfortunately, it just makes me look fat rather than pregnant!

gingeme · 13/06/2007 20:12

Thanks for that beller. Swinging on a rope eh cant realy see how that would help to be honest. Couldnt put a rope up in here if I pulled the ceiling down wed have upstairs in our living room
Someone mentioned they wouldnt want a home birth in case their neighbours heard. Im in flats and have people above and below me. Luckily Im not a noisy person when Im in labour so they didnt hear a thing. Though my neighbour above did try to trick me in saying I was realy shouting and swearing for hours and she was going to call the police because ehs was thought I was beong tortured. Its ok were good friends. She just gaveme a cuddle and winked at my dh
Welcome babato and congratulations
Went swimming today and dh couldnt keep his eyes off my boobs. MEN !!!

fruitful · 13/06/2007 21:32

The only thing I can think of with fake tan is that your skin can get more sensitive or be sensitive to different things - so you might want to try a little patch and leave it 24hrs in case you come out in horrid blotches!

MamaMaiasaura · 13/06/2007 21:35

veet can irritate too.. that was a whole different thread!

beller · 14/06/2007 07:15

I got home last night to a note through my door from the midwife with her mobile number for me to call her have left a message so hopfully will get an apt quickly...11 weeks today!!
I told a guy that im good friends with in my office yeaturday, he said all the guys on his desk had commented about my boobs!!( I work in a money brokers) He also said he thought it was great news, and I would make a fantastic single mother! hahah
In a weird twist of fate, I work with my ex husband, we are really good friends now, so its not a problem, but I think I will tell him today or tomorrow out of respect before anyone else finds out or guess's.
Hope we are all well today and you are feeling better Naetha xx

plummymummy · 14/06/2007 08:07

I have been looking for messages on the m/c section from skibump and teenagersagain but nothing. Hope they are ok Reading their posts made me start to feel negatively again as they were further along than I am. Told my mum yesterday and she upset me a bit (she didn't mean to)by saying not to count on it too much til week 14! I've been counting on it since week 3 Oh well, don't want to drag you all down. How's everyone today?

BeckyAu · 14/06/2007 08:07

Morning ladies! how are you all? Hope everything's good. I have something I hope someone will know the answer to.... I booked an appointment for nuchal scan at the fetal medicine unit in London (as advised by my midwife - it's a private scan and was for 2nd July). I had a letter this morning with a date for a NHS scan on 25th June at UCH London Fetal Medicine Unit. Is this the same thing? Do I go to one or both? Thank you! x

Housemum · 14/06/2007 08:35

Plummy - I know what you mean, I've got so far now that I don't want to think of all that could happen but I think all these fears are pretty much par for the course. After all, the worry doesn't stop when they are here - I used to poke both my girls when they were sleeping if they weren't moving much!

Anyway, lets think positive and think of all those bouncing New Year babies - and what great timing, should be able to pick up some baby clothes in the New year Sales!!

Housemum · 14/06/2007 08:37

Becky - I'd give them a call re your NHS one just to ask if it is for a nuchal scan - they may have just booked a dating scan. If it is for the nuchal scan, you could save yourself the money from the private one, but do check first.

beller · 14/06/2007 08:47

Becky- Not sure maybe give them a call?

I have had a call from the MW, and she is coming round to me at 2 o clock this afternoon, said she needs to do the notes before booking a scan! So half day at work for me Although I have to come back into town, as I am out with clinets tonight

(((((((Plummy))))))))))))
Chin up hun and think positive thoughts xxx

plummymummy · 14/06/2007 08:54

Hi ladies, yes you are right. Positive thoughts needed. Thank you for reminding me I have a scan on Monday morning. Sort of excited in a dreading kind of way!

gingeme · 14/06/2007 09:16

Morning ladies. Trying to be positive though I have terrible back ache and was up at 12 last night being sick. Woke up starving this morning so had some toast and feel a bit better now. Cant wait till my scan to make sure all is well. Im sure it is but yes your right you still worry and it certainly doesnt stop once there here does it Housemum?
hope your all well. Have a good day xx
