Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BeckyAu · 25/06/2007 16:05

Hello to all! I've just got home having had my first scan. DH was transfixed looking at the screen as we saw bean, heard the heartbeat, then watched as beanie was prodded to make him do something. Clearly beanie is just like his father as he was very comfy just lying there doing nothing but when prodded for a bit did jumping around looking like dancing apparently. I couldn't see the screen throughout but DH could and I did see bean. How weird it is seeing all this happen on screen but not being able to feel anything. It is odd but I feel less of a fraud now as we have proof of a bean! So good luck to all those with scans. Having been so worries about it the relief is incredible. Will get complete results in a few days but for now I am celebrating by eating the biggest iced bun known to mankind . Oh... and my due date has changed to 13th Jan xxx

gingeme · 25/06/2007 16:10

Oh yeah mine has changed to 13th Jan too. Excelent isnt it Becky?

BeckyAu · 25/06/2007 16:26

Yay Gingeme!Sounds like a good day to me :-)

barristermum · 25/06/2007 17:30

Well done gingeme and beckyau - good luck for awen and going43 tomorrow.
Naetha - what dreadful news on your op - none of your options sound enticing - what are you going to do?
Glad plummy's party went well.
Welcome to all the newbies and efmc you must stay now -we want it all to go well for the people we are in this together with.
(((hugs))) to all - roll on 2nd trimester - beller you lucky dog!

katyt1 · 25/06/2007 19:10

hi all, well done gingeme & becky on todays scans, more out of the way - in a good way
and lots of positive wishes for tomorrow

naetha - when do you have to decide, all sounds not great. what are risks to bean if you go ahead as planned?

gingeme - at least you get a bonus scan

well found new food that works for me - popcorn! with lots of salt tho, prob not great but figure my body is asking for it.
also custard creams instead of old faithful ginger nuts.
think i am going off chocolate !
choice of
a) minstrel packet
b) satsuma....

i chose satsuma, omg i'm very worried!!!!

welcome VP, i had lots of bleeding last time and ds was fine.

right this thread goes from 13+5-ish (beller) to 8+3 (VV). 13 weeks is 2nd trimester right? so just 5 weeks to go and we are all there....wishing time away, moi?

mummyto2littleprincess · 25/06/2007 19:28

beckyau and gingerme iv been giving 13th jan by docs but will find out on the next monday when i have my scan

goingfor3 · 25/06/2007 19:31

katyt1 - I've also gone of chocolate and I was a real chocoholic, I really crave salt which is not good as my blood pressure was slighty high when I saw the midwife.

Rainbowdays · 25/06/2007 19:37

Goingfor3 - thanks so much for the congrats on the other thread, just popped back here to say that and saw your off chocolate/crave salt comment and wanted to say you are obviously having a boy???!!! I had exactly the same with my ds!!!! Hope you are doing well, I might trawl back through some of your posts here and "stalk" you too

Naetha · 25/06/2007 19:41

Glad to hear BeckyAu and Gingeme have had good scans - it makes you feel so much more relaxed about the whole thing! That is until you get the next tummy twinge, then you start worrying all over again!

At the moment I'm in limbo about my op waiting for the hospital to get back to me - they need to inform the anaesthetist and find out if s/he is still happy to go ahead with the op.

Overall the risks aren't that high of things going wrong with the bean, but as always there's always a chance. As I'm still fairly early but out of the 1st trimester danger zone, the bean shouldn't get in the way (gall bladder is kinda under your right ribs) but its just a case of how they do the anaesthetic - whether its a general or local anaesthetic and sedation. Selfish though it sounds, I really hope it doesn't come to option 3 (not have it taken out) as chances are it will cause me lots of pain in the last trimester, and it may be if something goes wrong (for example a gall-stone gets trapped in the bile duct) I'd have to have an emergency operation anyway, so best on my terms really! Also, is there ever a good time with a small child to have an operation? I thought not!

At the end of the day although I'm frustrated at the doctors for not communicating with eachother, there's only so much I can do, so I'm going to try and go back to not thinking about it!

goingfor3 · 25/06/2007 19:45

Rainbowdays - It's so nice to hear from you. I really hope everything goes well for you. I'm really glad you didn't give up!

gingeme · 25/06/2007 21:11

Re going off chocolate now I think about it I went off choc with the last two pregnancies and craved salty stuff. I love anything sweet at the moment. I had pork for dinner yesterday and covered it in apple sauce and had seconds of pudding. God I sound like a right piggy

MamaMaiasaura · 25/06/2007 21:22

Gingeme & Beckyau - fab fab news about your scan

Katy1 - your brain is working sooo much better than mine.. roll on 5.5 weeks then

Naetha - arggh what a predicament about your surgery

Thanks barristermum for good luck wishes, am really nervous about it.

Naetha · 25/06/2007 21:40

Ooh me and DH have just thought of a lovely name if its a girl - cheered me up no end

ayrshirelolo · 25/06/2007 21:42

Hi all,Glad the scans went well, ladies! And good luck for everyone who's gonna see their bean this week!
Naetha - wot a nightmare! hope they can sort everything out for you, and yeah, wouldn't it be nice if they all spoke to each other?
goingfor3, thanks for letting me know i'm not going mad about the car thing! I think it might be pg hormones too, both mum and sister have been a bit iffy about it as dd is only just 1 and they think it's a "lot to take on"(Grrrrrr! tell me something i don't know!)but as dh and i are 80 years old when you add us together we don't have forever to space them out and i'm really happy!I LOVE being a mum! (sorry this is so long and has turned into a rant!)
Hope you all had a good Monday and that Tuesday is even better - good luck guys! xx

beller · 26/06/2007 07:52

Morning all!
HOusemum - and of course hubbie, well done on your race for life! x

Naetha- Thats dreadful! Must admit, the options do not sound enticing...did they suggest which one they thought best? or waiting to hear from the aneathetist? Good luck!! x

Plummymummy- I have had an awful headache for 2 days now! Really is bad...and cant shake it...drinking plenty of water and even gave into paracetomol yesturday as i felt like crying and was at work....any tips anyone? Have also tried that "forhead" stuff....nothing...

Gingeme- you get a bonus scan yay!! glad went well even if a bit early xx

Beckyau- Cool scan...so you and gingme are same date now!

Awen - good luck for today , let us know how you get on !

Well I AM in the second trimester..no real energy boost yet, and these blooming headaches wont seem to go ....But im 14 weeks this week...woo-hoo!! have my next 2 midwife appts,my next scan is 29th august!

I phoned one of my friends last night to tell her my news, and she came back with "so am I"..was a shock, she hasnt been with her boyfriend for very long, but they are going to make a go of it..he lives near me ( she met him on a night out with me), so I have told her she needs to move my way! would be cool!

Anyway, if i have missed anyone else having a scan today good luck!! xxx

LilyLoo · 26/06/2007 08:35

Hello all. Really exciting to see everyone having scans can't wait for mine on Thusday.

LilyLoo · 26/06/2007 08:49

imawurzel just saw your list of names and had to comment you have my ds name Harry and my dd's name Lily and we like Alfie or maybe Ella (although niece is Ellie) for this one , thought it was a bit weird! Let me know if you come up with any more girls names as we struggling on that one.

gingeme · 26/06/2007 08:56

Beller that would be fab to share your pregnancy with your friend.
My tummy feels sore from my scan today. Anyone else get that or is it because your all skinny beans and the sonographer had no trouble finding baby?
Was terribly sick last night about half past midnight. What a waste of spag boll. Sorry tmi
Feeling a bit better today.
Beller are you a tea or coffee drinker normaly and have stopped drinking them? You could be suffering from caffeine withdrawel. Think you should ring your mw or gp just to get checked out. Hope your feeling better soon.
Good luck with the scans today.
Take care all xx

beller · 26/06/2007 09:12

Gingeme- hope your feeling better, didnt feel sore after my scan? But she did dig, so can imagine you might? No i dont drink tea or coffee.....juts tons of water and th eodd cup of green, which i checked with the MW and she said that was ok?
Did read in one of my bookds though that you can get headaches due to hormones...cant really grumble, didnt get any MS! x

Bettymamma · 26/06/2007 10:45

Hi ladies

I need to catch up!! so apologies for not responsing to anyones news yet. I'll have a read through during tea break.

Had my nuchal scan yesterday - was so nervous but it was fabulous! Little blighter had one hand lying behind its head and the other scratching its bits with its feet up on my uterus. It looked like my dh watching footie. Finally have a due date - new years eve!

Joining you Beller in the 2nd trimester - could the nausea/tiredness fade a little please!

Next scan 27th August. Can't wait. It was such a relief.

Will now catch up with all the news (and change myself on the list)

I saw my baby. It did lots of rolling around, didn't seem to enjoy being prodded!

I had a doctors appointment but I was seen by midwife from heel first. The woman could barley read, I thought she was a care assistant(no offence) until she wrote in my notes that she was a midwife. She tried to explain why I need an anomoly scan, said it was to check dates and weight of the baby I thought the dating scan was to check dates and the anamoly was to check organs were normal! She then had to work out the dates for my next scan and blood test, she tried to use her dating wheel but couldn't work out how to do it so tired to use the calender, I had to do it myself. She gave me the dates and had written august instead of July on my blood test form. I was really drained after seeing her. The docotr arranged a date for my stitch and also an aneasthetist appointment which is good. I really hope I never have to see that midwife again, no wonder people opt for free birthing with midwives like her.

gingeme · 26/06/2007 10:56

Oh my gingfor3 she sounds a bit rubbish. I presume the stitch is for your uterus? How does that work exactly?
So glad your scan went well. Sounds like youve got a little wriggler ther

Bettymamma · 26/06/2007 10:59

Hiya again

Have caught up

Congrats to everyone who's had scans - Pussycatmomma, PBirdy, gingeme, Beckyau and goingfor3(apologies if I missed anyone!)

Sorry to hear about nightmare midwife goingfor3. She sounds rubbish.

Gingeme - hope you don't still hurt. They didn't press that hard on me but the baby seemed happy to comply with what she was doing.

Awen and VP good luck with your scans today. Let us know how they go.

Toomanyshoes - I've had an ear infection last week as well. Pregnancy symptom??!

Beller - I've started phoning friends announcing the news and have been shocked by how many friends are trying and I didn't have a clue.

Lastly, anyone been feeling weird flutters. I felt my dd at 15 weeks which I thought was incredibly early but I'm only 13 weeks now! I guess I know what I'm looking out for. It's whenever I raise my legs up towards my tummy and its the distinct butterfly feeling. I'm sure its too early but I'll never forget how it felt first time.

Finally! Who's having twins I wonder!

goingfor3 · 26/06/2007 11:06

Bettymamma - I've been having flutters too and I'm only 11+6!

gingeme - the stitch will go in my cervix to stop it from shortening and causing me to go into early labour hopefully. I'm having it on the 19th July, was supposed to have it on the 12th but I am going to a wedding on the 13th.
