Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MamaMaiasaura · 18/06/2007 22:19

Sprite or 7up is very good for ms x

Naetha · 18/06/2007 22:24

Ooh didn't see your post flamingnora - Welcome to the thread

Chances are you won't see a doctor, but you will see a midwife for your booking in appointment before your scan. This is just an appointment where they talk to you about your medical history, explain to you whats happening and whats going to happen, do some blood tests, take your blood pressure etc etc.

Constant nausea and huge sore boobs unfortunately are par for the course at least for the first 12 weeks, although don't expect it to stop overnight as you go into your 13th week! Or at least, it hasn't happened here yet!

Lots of first timers on this thread which is really reassuring - I've found out a lot more from talking to people on Mumsnet and reading threads in the pregnancy and childbirth forums than from any books or so-called informative websites. Its also great to be able to ask all those questions you feel are daft, but it turns out everyone else is worrying about it too!

Sorry, I really do talk too much!

gingeme · 18/06/2007 22:42

Welcome flamingnora love your name and congrtulations on baby number one
So sorry for your loss Lozza keep resting.
I feel like a bad Mummy today. My ds3 is poorly and has a horrible cough and I just havnt had any patience with him what so ever today Feel like a very bad Mummy. Will buy him some Milky Bar buttons tommorrow to ease my guilt as they are his favourites and he only has them for a treat on a Saturday. Off to bed now.

toomanyshoes · 18/06/2007 23:23

Had my scan tonight and everything is fine! Such a relief after so much spotting. It was incredibly clear and you could see the babies fingers, toes, face etc. At one point it had a giant stretch then started sucking its thumb
It was much clearer than the scans I had with DD. The nuchal measurement was low so looks like my risk will be fairly low, however have to wait 3 days for blood test results to get final answer on downs risk.
Telling work tomorrow - eek!!
Hope everybody well, will have proper catch up of thread tomorrow as am falling asleep over keyboard - had forgotten how knackering this pregnancy business is!

beller · 19/06/2007 07:52

Gd morning!

Got another headache...well hasnt really gone from yesturday ...
Ex came round last night, think he may come round at some point, to what level I dont know, and I dont know if we will get back toegther, but had a good evening. Chatted alot, he is still too freaked out to come to the scan today, but my sister is coming. He asked me to forgive him,and said he knew he was being pants, but needs to do all this in his own time, and cant seemt o get his head out of the sand.......soooooo we will see!
Scan this afternoon , realy scared that something will be wrong, but I dont see any reason why it should..My sister is coming with me.

Welcome flamingnora- your symptoms are exactly how mine are...boobs still hurt and im 12 weeks, still tired, plus getting headaches! Like Naetha said, you will have a booking in appt first, so maybe check that has been set up?

Naetha - glad you enjoyed your spin! x

Toomanyshoes- wow, your scan sounds amazing, im a similar date, so hopefully mine will be as clear! will let you know..
Have a good day everyone xx

gingeme · 19/06/2007 09:52

Morning everyone. Good luck with your scan today beller. Also glad youve had a chance to chat with your ex. Thats probably where your headache came from. Stress.
First scans are pretty amazing especialy if baby is on the move. What are your feelings about asking the sex of baby at your 20 week scan? I know that some hospitals dont tell you. Im going to find out for practical reasons if nothing else.
My hair is realy crap recently. SOOOO greasy. Its like being back at school what with spots on my chin too yuk! Hormones have a lot to answer for
Well have a good day all. Take care xxx

beller · 19/06/2007 09:58

gingeme- I dont think i am going to find out....the only practical reasons are blue/ or pink, and i think im going to do the nursery cream, with disney characters anyway...But we will see....i might be to nosey! My hair has gone quite dry...and thicker....i had spots to start with, but nothing now xx

plummymummy · 19/06/2007 10:11

Beller - best of luck with your scan tonight. What time is it?

beller · 19/06/2007 10:21

3.25!! Eeeek...so excited...but a tad nervous too xx

PBirdy · 19/06/2007 10:49

Good morning all,

Beller - hope it all goes well this afternoon - how exciting! I had headaches a few days ago that lasted for about 3 days. I think it was just tension. I took paracetamol which I understand is absolutely fine to take. Hope it improves.

Toomanyshoes - fab scan result - when I read "fingers and toes" I started to get really excited - if that is what you saw then I should be the same on Friday (fingers crossed) since we are at the same due date.

Barristermum - you are right about the positive thinking and I believe that too. I am trying not to stress out and to just go with the flow. That is why I don't want to rush in early for the scan, everyone has said it is probably fine so that is what I am trying to believe.

Having read that back I am not sure who I am trying to convince!

Welcome to all the new people!

PBirdy XX

PBirdy · 19/06/2007 10:50

Gingeme - I am going to keep it as a suprise. What are the practical reasons other than the blue/pink clothes?

gingeme · 19/06/2007 11:07

None I suppose but when youve had 4 boys its nice to know you can buy a bit of pink for a change plus all my boys baby clothes can be passed on to my friend whos just had her first boy.

Naetha · 19/06/2007 11:43

Slight nod off-topic here, but does anyone know where I can buy button extenders?

I remember my stepmum had a couple when she was pregnant with my brother. Its just a little loop of elastic that hooks around your existing button attached to another button that goes into the normal button hole...

Anyone know where you can get them in the UK? I can only find them on US sites. I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to make a couple, but that sounds a bit...domestic for me!

Bettymamma · 19/06/2007 12:05

Morning ladies

Long time no speak. HOpe you're all well. Let's play catchup time. I'll never catch up! I've missed so much

Lozza so sorry to hear your news. I'm so sorry. Big hugs to you. Take it easy.

Welcome new peeps.

Plummy good news on the scan.

Toomanyshoes - how cute - stretching and sucking thumb. How lovely!

Awen - I can't believe you don't like the night garden - Makka Pakka, Akka wakka, Mikka Makka moo. I'm still in my jeans (just!)

Twins, it'll be someone.

My scan next Monday - never thought I'd get there. 12 weeks on Thurs. Told my bestfriend who was very sad. Long story but shes having trouble with her husband and she was just gutted that I'm pg again. I do understand. When i was ttc i remember my mate telling me she was pg and having to grit my teeth and smile. And now I feel very bad for doing that.

Hope everyone is well!

Beller - good luck with scan today. I want to know all the details seeing as we're due around the same time.

MamaMaiasaura · 19/06/2007 12:48

Toomanyshoes - scan sounded lovely. Have you got some good pics? Am so excited as mine is next week and hoping to see that sort of detail

Beller - lots of luck for your scan today

Gingeme - not sure about finding out sex. I did with ds and didnt feel it took away from the wonder of him being born. I already had a name for him and the best bit was finding out what he looked like. DP really wants to find out sex and tbh I am vearing to saying yes as a way for him to feel more involved. Also means we can narrow down on names. Not sure we would tell everyone else babies sex tho, although would be hard not to tell ds.

Nearly threw up in shopping bag today . Been busy, done lots of ironing again and general housework stuff. Am glad had the energy to do it as have felt soo tired lately.

Ds back to school today. The tic bite area looks ok and his leg is better, only limping slightly. bless him.

scorpio1 · 19/06/2007 12:57

plummy. SO SO pleased for you!

PBirdy · 19/06/2007 13:33

gingeme - it makes more sense since you have other kids - I had forgotten about that. I am sure it makes you way more practical

Bettymamma · 19/06/2007 13:45

I want to find out if its a boy or girl so I can forewarn my dd toddler. I have asked if she'd like a brother and sister and she has said she'd like 'nothing'. At least shes honest.

Awen always keep a shopping bag on you I think. (Do you think you could be having the twins! - it'll be me now I've said that)

Bettymamma · 19/06/2007 13:46

I meant brother or sister! not brother and sister -!!

gingeme · 19/06/2007 14:53

Ah thats ok PBirdy. Oh Im finding it sooooo hard to keep awake this afternoon. Have to stay awake as my two lo's are awake and dh is in bed cause hes on earlies this week. Oh just to rest my eyes for half an hour
Bettymama I asked my ds what he would like and he said 'Bob The Builder' .

LilyLoo · 19/06/2007 15:37

Glad it's not just me Gingeme with the greasy hair.
Indegestion kicking in now forgot about this one used to get through a bottle of gaviscon every couple of days with other two
Sorry to hear your news Lozza take care x
Wow toomanyshoes that scan sounds great for an early one , counting the days to mine.
Welcome all new mum to be's hope you all as well as can be expected.
This thread is going to be more demandind than the dc's to keep up with
Some lovely names there we both know what we having for a boy. We did with the other two as well but used our only two favourite names on dd for a girl ! Quite like Imogen though will sound dp out on that one when he gets home. It's funny actually as the names we had for the other sex of dc's we have both gone off now .

LilyLoo · 19/06/2007 15:40

Good luck Beller you are probably having it right this minute x

nicky6 · 19/06/2007 15:44

Your messages do make me feel a bit less worried, had a bit of spotting myslef, but it seems to be of the not to worry too much kind if there is such a thing. Spoke to my midwife on the phone who said do you still feel pregnant - ie lousy if so that is a good thing!

I am finding orange juice and 7up a good combo - plus 7up comes in caffeine free no sugar variety so no reason to feel bad.

i dont know if anyone else has this problem but to be perfectly honest i am so off food that i am pleased to manage to eat anything that doesnt make me gag. i feel sorry for my poor teeth as they are not getting their usual brushing quota as toothbrush in my mouth has me practically vomitting - not a good look my dh tells me.

Excellent news on the scans.

DO they tell you at the 12 week scan about the nuchal thing as my scan is 19/7 but blood not til 30th and go on hols on 1/8?? as am on that 35 boundary quite anxious about that.

gingeme · 19/06/2007 15:45

I dont believe this dh asleep in his bed,ds4 asleep in his cot and just looked at ds3 and hes asleep on the floor. I dont feel tired now bloody typical eh ?

goingfor3 · 19/06/2007 15:48

nicky6 - some hospitals don't do the nucheal fold test at the 12 week scan, mine only does the blood test. Ring your hospital to find out.
