Lozza - sorry to hear you news ..big hugs
(((((((((Lozza))))))))))

Housemum · 18/06/2007 13:07

PBirdy - I would imagine that unless you have a very good EPU at your local hosp they will just tell you to wait until Friday - nothing since must be a good sign, and there is the thing that brown = old blood - at nearly 12 weeks you are at the stage where the placenta starts to work properly (which is why this is the stage that ms often goes, as the placenta takes a bigger role - one of the medical people on this thread can tell you more I'm sure!) - maybe that's triggered the loss of some old blood near the cervix.

Sorry if a personal question - had you had sex? That can cause a little bleeding from the cervix.

Fingers crossed for Friday! I know it's not easy at this stage but stay positive. I was feeling really good but having seen the news from Lozza, Teenagers and Skibump I'm back to worrying again. I just hope that the fact I am definitely expanding is a good sign. I did see a heartbeat at 7 weeks, but having seen other stories even that's no guarantee.

Right, enough of that - let's be cheerful!

PBirdy · 18/06/2007 13:49

Housemum, I am a private patient (we are Australian - long story, DH's work pays for it, we aren't millionaires or anything) so I think I can call them up and request a scan at any time. Part of me wants to do it now and know and part of me is saying, just be cool and wait, it could be anything. I think I am also a bit scared about hearing bad news as well which might be why I am not so keen to call them. I think I will just wait until Friday. All these stories have made me worried though I must say.

The brown blood is a bit of a mystery. We hadn't had sex. I feel so nauseous still that it is the last thing I feel like! Poor DH, all I ever say to him is "I feel sick get off me".

We had been out on a boat for the day though and as I was sitting there with the vibrations from the motor I sort of thought, i wonder is this good or bad. It was also hot weather where we were. Who knows. I am equally trying not to get too stressed about it because that can't be good. Easier said than done.

efmc · 18/06/2007 14:06

oh lozza, so sorry ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) can't imagine how your feeling, i'm thinking of you though xxx

Naetha · 18/06/2007 14:31

goingfor3 · 18/06/2007 14:41

I went to see the dr and he told me the lump was probably a bloked pore or something. I can now wear deodrant!

nicky6 · 18/06/2007 14:59

BWMum · 18/06/2007 15:06

Hi all,

Really sorry to hear about your mc Lozza70. My thoughts are with you and I hope you have lots of support at the moment.

We were away for the weekend and came home to find the letter from St George's with a date for our nuchal scan . It's next Friday so I'm now counting down the days until that. Although we had a scan at 8 weeks where the MW told us it was 97% "safe", the recent mcs have made me very nervous. On the plus side, my boobs are still growing at a rate of knots - I have cleavage for the first time in my life! - although ms seems to have worn off.

At the moment my main hassle is that I am sick of fruit juice! What is everyone drinking? The only options seem to be sweet drinks - fruit juice or fizzy drinks - or water but you can only drink so much water before you're sick of it. It's becomming a real pain, especially added to the fact that I've gone right off tea so can't even swap with that .

We went to a music festival near Venice for the weekend. Were meant to see The Killers, My Chemical Romance and Pearl Jam. However, just as MCR started, a freak storm blew in and it started to rain, then hail and then the most incredible winds started to blow. DH and I were sheltering under the edge of a bar tent and when the hail started they let people shelter behind the bar. The winds blew the canvas off the umbrellas in the next tent, the tarps off the main stage and, worst of all, blew over 6 tall scaffolds holding the speakers for the concert which landed on some of the people below. Luckly no one was badly injured. We were ok behind the bar, although it was pretty scary watching the winds trying to flip the bar counter up. DH found me a sheltered spot between a fridge and a stack of cans and kept shouting at me to keep my head down. Told me afterwards he was terrified something was going to happen to his family - which made me feel really happy, even though I was soaked to the skin and chilly!

Luckily DH speaks Italian (his family is Italian) so we managed to find a bus and train back to Venice where we were staying. Our friends weren't so luckly and landed up walking 7km back to Venice in wet clothes. I was very glad to get back and have a warm shower. So, beanie has had its first major adventure - although probably more excitement than we had planned!

toomanyshoes · 18/06/2007 15:07

I'm so, so sorry Lozza

PBirdy - try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know) I have been bleeding off and on since 7 weeks (am 12 now) and the number of people I know who have said 'oh yes, i bled in all my pregnancies!' has amazed me. When I was discharged from the EPU the consultant said that if it was old blood, in small amounts, and not accompanied by pain then I didn't need to go back and the chances were that it was just one of those things. It's so hard to relax about it though so i really do know how you feel!

My scan is this evening so keep your fingers crossed for me!

PBirdy · 18/06/2007 15:17

Toomanyshoes - thanks, I have read that as well and I am trying my best to be positive. Being bored at work and having the internet at your finger tips can be a mixed blessing when you are stressing about something. Good luck for tonight let us know how it goes.

BWMum - classic story although I suspect much more frightening at the time! I cannot stand drinking tea at the moment either, which is so weird for me I used to have 4 - 5 cups a day. Water is the main thing I feel like. Often I go for sparkling water - lemonade is also good although I feel bad about the sugar (I just feel fat at the moment I cannot wait to get a bump). Another good option is a cup of tea with a slice of lemon in in. It is a bit old granny but it works for me.

X

plummymummy · 18/06/2007 19:11

Hi Scorpio - will pop into the ttc thread later to see how you all are. Thanks so much for remembering me Yes I had my scan this morning. Good news - baby seen and heartbeat. They measured me a week smaller than my dates but sonographer didn't seem bothered as she said it's very difficult to pinpoint exactly when ovulation occurs. More importantly their dates tally with the scan they did two weeks ago so at least it is growing. Dh came with me and we are both very happy.

Lozza - I am so sorry to hear of your m/c. Thinking of you as have been through it myself twice and know how it feels Take care hun x

Awen - sorry to hear about ds but glad he's ok.

Welcome all newcomers

Oh Lozza, I'm so sorry. Hope your dh is giving you lots of tlc

fruitful · 18/06/2007 19:44

Just putting myself back a couple of days - I phoned the hosp to get my scan date and they read my notes and said that was the date from my last scan. Getting info out of those people is like drawing teeth tho! Scan on 12th July.

fruitful · 18/06/2007 19:46

efmc - Welcome!

awen - I got into maternity clothes much quicker second time around. I think your body just remembers whats going to happen and does it straight away

My clothes still fit but I've only 1 bra left that is comfy, so I've just got some very cheap non-wired bras in a size up from Tescos, to keep me going till I dig out my maternity ones. Which must be in a box somewhere...

beckyau -

goingfor3 - read the instructions on your new fridge when you get it; the delivery guy told us it had to settle for 24hrs but the instructions said 30 minutes! So we did that and it is fine

Spud - group mw session? That'll be nice and private won't it. I guess it means she only has to say all the standard stuff once, and you get to meet some other local women who are at teh same stage as you? Bit wierd tho

PBirdy, sounds scary. I keep being told that if it isn't bright red and it doesn't hurt, its ok. Can you phone and ask for your scan to be brought forward a bit? I couldn't stand the waiting.

BWMum - herbal teas? Personally I'm on chocolate milk but that may not be your thing . I was about to get that you'd been to Venice till I read the rest of your story! Your dh is very sweet, I love how they go all caveman-protective.

Katyt1 - I am existing on ginger nuts. Have to smuggle them in when ds isn't looking

Plummy - excellent about your scan!

Beller - good luck for tomorrow

barristermum · 18/06/2007 19:46

Hey all,
lozza - so so so sorry. Good luck for next time - we are all thinking of you.
plummy - I got chatting to a deeply zen midwife at my church yesterday and said how freaked I was about m/c etc and she said I should really try to think positive as it does make a difference and if you keep going for scans it actually adds to your stress levels - I've no idea, but thought I'd add it to the mix along with all agreement over brownness lack of pain ets all being good signs.
awen - I LOVED your son's flying bean moment! Dh isn't often away but he is on a conference in morocco at the moment at then end of which he is adding a few extra days to go off-road motor-biking thru the desert so I reckon I must have picked up substantial brownie points for such generosity of spirit!
Beckyau and BWmum - so jealous of your away stories although of the 2 I'd def have rather been with Beckyau!
welcome efmc.
Naetha - I have welsh roots too, and husband is irish so we are def going the celtic route on names I reckon, but I feel a tad guilty in case it just means a lifetime of spelling for little one.
big hugs all. trial in p'mth over, another starting in Southampton tomoz - cannot afford nausea as too much work to do, but going home and cossetting self as dh away - have the devil wears prada video, steak in the fridge and ice cream in the freezer - am in north london for those who fancy girlie night in!

barristermum · 18/06/2007 19:48

0oops - sorry - mixed up pbirdy and plummy in the last one.
also going for3 - they told us 24 hours for ours and we just did 30 mins and again it was fine.

plummymummy · 18/06/2007 20:44

Pbirdy I bled with my first pg and all was fine. Try to relax as best as you can and keep yourself occupied in a good way - rather than being pre-occupied iyswim.
BWmum - glad you enjoyed Venice - something to tell beanie when he's a bit older

plummymummy · 18/06/2007 20:47

Beckyau - your holiday in Spain sounded lovely. Glad you had a lovely rest

MamaMaiasaura · 18/06/2007 21:58

I love how busy this thread is Managed to keep my jeans on most of the day, def tighter than they where but have stretched a bit during the day (clean out of wash today). Had a very busy evening. DP gone out, ds getting ready for bed and I notice a black dot on his neck. Thinking it is a small scab I looked closer.. it was a........ TIC [yuck] Took me a while to get it out and wasnt sure I had got it all. My mum was panicking down the phone saying he needed antibiotics etc so off to the drs. Got back at 9 and he is fast asleep now. 2 trips to drs in one day! Had to dose him with ibuprofen for his leg too.. It doesnt stop does it? Was his toe the other week, bead yesterday, leg today and now a sodding tic. Gotta laugh.

Plummy glad to hear your scan went well hunny, it is so relieving to see little bean on the screen. My next one is next tuesday, cant wait.

Barristermum - devil wear prada is fab hoped you have a lovely relaxing evening.. what ice cream was it? If ben and jerrys pass us some! Watched hot fuzz on Saturday night, very funny.

Fruitful - I think you are right about body remmebering, also I have a lack of tone down there.. never got rid of mummy apron.

Katy1 - sympathy about ms - is horrible feeling. Lemonade is fab tho.

efmc - glad you added yourself in certainly not treading on anyones toes xx

beller - good luck with your scan tomorrow hunny

Naetha and [drool] at lovely bike.

flamingnora · 18/06/2007 22:08

Hi All

Well, having been on the Feb thread it appears I am, in fact due on January 30th. May I please join here?!
This is my first baby and I am very apprehensive and feeling pretty clueless about the whole thing. I am also nauseous a lot (although I have not actually vomited -apologies if too much info!)& very tired. My boobs feel enormous and sore.
Having my scan on July 20th and, apparently, I won't need to see a doctor before then if all goes well - does this sound right?!

Naetha · 18/06/2007 22:17

I did a naughty

After DH rode the bike back from the dealers I took it for a spin around the back roads (its great living near Ilkley moor!) and although I had a great ride, I went over a couple of pretty nasty pot-holes that gave me right jolts. I've been worrying myself sick over the last 4 hours and checking my knickers for any sign of m/c every 10 minutes. I just feel really really stupid - I had a great time, but its just NOT worth it. Not one bit.

Bike is officially on hold for 8 months at least.

On a (slightly!) brighter note, I'm also in a dilemma about what to drink. First time I threw up from MS was when I downed a glass of water, and ever since then drinking anything in other than tiny sips makes my tummy very unhappy. I'm getting around it by having a sports bottle of water in the fridge that I just swig out of. The fact its cold makes a big difference. Also gone through every flavour of Robinsons squash, but getting very bored of that now!
