Thanks @Cheery1 I'm happy to use ebay but I can get caught up with bidding previously so have ended up in the past with less of a bargain 😂

I could watch stuff on my DH account and get him to do the bids for me though which will limit the risk!

Cheery1 · 08/09/2018 07:47

Ha! Yeah @twiglet, you have to be strict with yourself on how much you’re willing to bid! There are a few apps that bid for you then you don’t end up paying too much x

Lulabell1 · 08/09/2018 08:03

So im really starting to regret the fact i never kept anything from DD including my limited edition bugaboo cameleon!! I just looked how much for it all again £1200 no thankyou. So i think i will go with the Icandy peach i can get 25% off as my bestie works at john lewis anyone had one?

Lookingforadvice123 · 08/09/2018 08:19

I'm struggling for maternity clothes too, I think I'm just much bigger this time round so I need stuff earlier. I've had to order some black skinny smart trousers from Asos as I'll need some for work. I have about 3 work dresses I can wear (one is maternity, two are just stretchy/loose) but I'm waiting for a load of my tops to be returned by my SIL as I lent them to her for her pregnancy. She's said she's got a few work style smart tops as well that I can have so hopefully I won't have to buy too much!

I'm looking at eBay too!

welshweasel · 08/09/2018 08:29

@lulabell1 - we didn’t keep much from last time either. We’re gwtting a bugaboo Cam 3 second hand for £100. I had the peach last time, it’s a nice pram but I wouldn’t pay for a new one - there’s loads in near perfect condition on Facebook/gumtree for £200-£300. I found it got too heavy and bulky by the time DS was a year old.

Since2016 · 08/09/2018 08:39

This is what I found re maternity clothes - I didn’t buy much last time as I showed late so didn’t really need much but this time....!! I’d second eBay. Have had donations from friends too which is great. I just can’t justify a fortune on clothes I see as temporary... even though I’m not sure a third isn’t on the cards 😳🤭🤫

MrsY87 · 08/09/2018 08:53

I've got bags full of maternity clothes from the last two times although as my DD and DS are sept & Oct babies everything is summer rather than winter so lots of lovely dresses but not much in the way of jumpers etc. Hoping some of my normal baggy ones will do me or I'll just buy some cheap bits from H&M or ask my SIL if she's still got her stuff from her Feb baby. Also so much is work stuff that I won't need this time around, I might see if I can sell it to fund my winter maternity wardrobe!

Just weighed myself for the first time since about 8w as our cleaner broke our scales and I only just bought new ones so was pleasantly surprised to see I've only put on about 6lbs so far, I was expecting it to be more given it's a twin pregnancy and I seem to be living off carbs! I'm sure i'll start to pile it on now though! How is everyone else doing on the weight front?

Since2016 · 08/09/2018 09:29

I haven’t weighed myself since my booking appt.... dreading it!!!! I reckon at least 10kg in total so far. With DD I put on over 25kg. 😳 but it came off!!

Surprisedmom · 08/09/2018 09:39

I am also an eBay fan for both maternity and baby things. I’ve got several dresses and some smart black corduroy trousers for work and I’ve spent no more than a fiver on anything, so it’s a pretty cheap wardrobe but I like the things I’ve got.

The baby stuff has been even more of a bargain though, I bought a bundle of 20 babygrows for £4.50 the other day, all gap/John Lewis etc. so good quality and barely worn. My trick is to search by ending soonest and bid on stuff which is ending in the next few hours then just leave it to stop myself getting into bidding wars. The pic is of my favourite eBay buy yet - I can’t wait to see him in it!

If you have good charity shops near you i’d also give them a look, i’ve picked up some lovely things all for 50p and some even still had tags on.

Yakadee · 08/09/2018 09:54

@Since2016 - weighed myself a few weeks ago and had put on about 8/9 lbs. Not sure I want to anymore 🤦‍♀️

Notquiteagandt · 08/09/2018 10:29

@MrsY87 I dropped nearly 10kg in my 1st trimester (thank you hyperemesis) finally 1kg away from my prepregnancy weight.

Which means ive put on nearly 10kg in a matter of weeks!!! Eeek.

My bumps still tiny so cant even blame that. think im gonna go HUGE.

Lulabell1 · 08/09/2018 10:33

@welshweasel i loved my cam! But its very big i do have a 4x4 this time but i found it hard if we ever went out to eat or someones house who was quit small it took up so much room the icandy is a lot smaller so iv opted for that. DP will not do second hand buggy unfortunately but i wont complain because its down too him to pay for it! X

Lulabell1 · 08/09/2018 10:35

@mrsY87 im actually down 7kg still i went down10 but iv put 2 back on!

twiglet · 08/09/2018 10:47

I'm up 9lb at 18 weeks still 1.5 stone less than when I started SW this time last year but none of my trousers or smart fitted dresses from last year fit due to bump.

I generally eat pretty healthy but only just able in the last 2 weeks been able to cook without being ill so have been getting on the go lunchs (can't eat bread) my DH has been cooking and he adds cheese to alot of things.... Add to that having to up my salt intake to stop me fainting of a bag of crisps (midwife suggestion of quickest and easiest way) I am feeling like a whale 😞

I'm hoping to get my soup maker back out when back from holiday in the hope to control a bit better and feel less like a hefferlump Blush

Surprisedmom · 08/09/2018 12:30

@Notquiteagandt I also lost weight to begin with due to a lack of appetite in the unbearable heat, all I wanted was drinks.

I’ve managed to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight now though and hoping to keep going steadily upwards as the weight loss had me panicking.

Lookingforadvice123 · 08/09/2018 12:36

So we our gender scan - and it's a boy!

A little part of me is disappointed with the fact that I'll never have a daughter. But I'm super excited for DS to have a little brother and he's such a lovely, gentle little boy, I hope this one is the same!

Also superficial but I'm excited to dress them the same Grin

Surprisedmom · 08/09/2018 13:49

@Lookingforadvice123 congratulations! There are a lot of boy babies on this thread.

Since2016 · 08/09/2018 13:52

Congratulations! @lookingforadvice123 - I’ve no clue what we’re having... 3 weeks to go!!

DragonFlew · 08/09/2018 14:11

My neighbour is moving away next week and has gifted me her silver cross pram and car seat! It's in fab condition and I'm so so pleased with it! Plus it's saving us a fortune!
We've got a local NCT nearly new sale in a couple of weeks that I'll be checking out for bit and pieces too, if anyone else has a group locally I'd highly recommend them for excellent bargains!

Fiep · 08/09/2018 14:26

@DragonFlew how did you find out about the nearly new sales? I'm keen to get second hand stuff as I would rather use the money to stretch out my terrible mat leave policy! I have joined NCT.

DragonFlew · 08/09/2018 14:57

@fiep I actually found the event on Facebook. My local NCT group has a Facebook page and lists all the baby groups and courses/events on there.
If you're not on Facebook it would be worth emailing them to see as they usually have one about this time But they're all different. This one in September is equipment and clothes and there's another in a few months that's just toys.

Yakadee · 08/09/2018 15:21

Loads of boys on this! Congratulations @Lookingforadvice123,

We find out on 18th September! Xxx

Notquiteagandt · 08/09/2018 15:41

@fiep they are all on their website under events you can filter on nearly new sales.

Mum2mum markets are a simular concept also. And all over the place.

DragonFlew · 08/09/2018 15:44

@yakadee so soon! We don't find out until 12th October! Feels like a lifetime away!

Alicejj8x · 08/09/2018 15:47

Went to the baby and toddler show in sandown cannot recommend these ever enough!!

We got so so much and saved sooo much. We made sure we checked prices too as we didn't want to be ripped off but everything we brought we saved so much on. Very happy :)
