I found the content good - esp the breastfeeding session tbh. And I made very good friends out of it so win win.

Since2016 · 07/09/2018 09:42

Ps. Anyone looking for bargains. Joules outlet on eBay is doing a 25% discount offer - baby grows reduced to £10.36 - I’ve stocked up for friends’ babies but great for anyone who knows what they’re having - they’re gorgeous and lovely quality x

Baby160P · 07/09/2018 11:07

@AliceRR I haven't signed up. I looked at them but I'm going to do the NHS hypnobirthing.

I have friends with children and some pregnant so I don't feel the need to go really.
We will also be moving out of this town when the baby is here.

Notquiteagandt · 07/09/2018 11:24

Heard babies hb this morning all clear and strong so reassuring.

Gender theories for hb though >140bpm girl

AliceRR · 07/09/2018 15:28

@Baby160P I was reading a bit about hypnobirthing. What does the NHS offer? I suppose it might vary by region

Baby160P · 07/09/2018 15:43

@AliceRR

This is the information I read on it.

It's like a relaxation way through birth. A friend used it and said it was much better than her first labour.

The nhs offer a course on it where I am in Essex. My midwife gave me all the info.

Ooh thanks for the tip Since2016, I love Joules.

Has anyone done the Chinese gender predictor thing online? Mine says girl so far, finding out tomorrow! It was right for DS.

Lookingforadvice123 · 07/09/2018 15:47

Although some of the websites for the Chinese predictor are saying boy now! Ha. Clearly accurate then Grin

Rowse · 07/09/2018 17:44

@AliceRR I booked in for an NCT antenatal course and there was an option to pay a deposit now and the rest is due at Christmas. If they do that in your area it might be a good option to give you a bit of time.

FrowningFlamingo · 07/09/2018 18:24

I still can't decide on NCT. I'm right between two areas so I'm worried I won't meet anyone local. The one closest is in a not nice part of the nearest town - I'm not really worried about the type of people or anything it's just that I'm a proper country villager these days so I'm worried i won't fit in! The other one is further away but with more surrounding villages so I could go there but then they might be from the other side of that town so even further away... And I'm worried they'll be judgey that I'm having a section too.

lanalawr · 07/09/2018 19:36

@FrowningFlamingo There may we'll be a mix of birth plans in the NCT group. It depends on your leader and group but ours was very much of the mindset that you get through it the best way for you. She wasn't judgy about pain relief or planned sections. We had one planned section and one probable section (twins) with everyone else planning vaginal births. We ended up with one planned section, two emergency sections, two epidurals and one induction. Everyone had a different experience but at the end of the day we all ended up with healthy babies and are still good friends two years on.

18 weeks today and didn't realise how big my bump was until i just tried to tidy my "cough" nether region hair in the shower and was aghast to discover I couldn't see over my bump! Not even with holding the bump up a bit Blush So have had to do it blind which is a bit nerve wracking!!

On another note I've just bought some Jojo maternity dungarees second hand and try are literally the most comfortable thing in the world. Going to get a lot of use I think/ just so nice to wear trousers without any pressure on or under the bump.

Has anyone experienced any shooting pains down there? It's kind of like a mix between a period pain and that feeling you have if you push your belly button? It's starting in the vaginal area and like going up into my lower abdomen? I'm 17 weeks and I've read online it could be growing pains but I duno?

Lookingforadvice123 · 07/09/2018 20:16

1stTimeTina sounds like possible round ligament pain? Which I've definitely have, mine tends to be the right side of my belly button down into the groin though. V common at this stage!

1stTimeTina · 07/09/2018 20:50

Thanks @Lookingforadvice123 very re-assuring! Each day there just seems to be something else strange going on, never thought pregnancy would be such a rollercoaster!

Surprisedmom · 07/09/2018 20:52

@1stTimeTina yes i’ve had that, googled it and some people call it vagina lightening - seems appropriate to me.

I don’t know if anybody is, but to anybody wanting to paint baby furniture I did a lot of research and found that the rust oleum furniture paint (not the chalk ones though) are toy safe. B&Q sell them.

I’m painting the cot my parents have given me that me and my siblings all slept in. It’s 60 years old and my mom got it for a £1 at a car boot! It’s lovely but I thought i’d give it a fresh lick of paint rather than leaving it bright yellow.

DragonFlew · 07/09/2018 20:56

@1stTimeTina I have been having this for a week or so now! Perfectly normal but I agree it's a strange feeling!

DragonFlew · 07/09/2018 20:56

@surprisedmom that's beautiful! What a lovely heirloom to inherit!

AliceRR · 07/09/2018 21:15

Can’t decide about NCT. Will discuss with DH. Is it a thing you take your partner to or go alone?

I’ve had weird vagina pains today. Sharp shooting pains quite low down, not v long lasting, really weird. I’ve had pain in my upper inner thighs / pelvis for weeks as well.

I thought tonight it DH gives me any stress this weekend I’ll be like “just leave me along, my vagina hurts” 😂

Had my second preg yoga class today and recommend that if you can find a good instructor in your area!

1stTimeTina · 07/09/2018 21:29

@Surprisedmom vagina lightning 😂 - I agree!

Rowse · 07/09/2018 21:39

NCT antenatal courses are set up for you and your partner, or a birthing partner if it's not the father. I imagine to give you support during the birth.

You could look at NHS antenatal classes too.

I've had the vagina lightening too, thought it was just me!

Surprisedmom · 07/09/2018 21:49

@DragonFlew Thankyou, my dad saw it out and said he’d forgotten it was so nice. When we looked through the baby clothes my mom kept, however, there were some bee questionable pieces that made us all laugh.

@AliceRR I second you on the yoga front, I went yesterday and it was great. Lots of useful breathing techniques and also lovely to meet other pregnant ladies.

FrowningFlamingo · 07/09/2018 23:23

Haha in my friendship group I believe what you're describing is known as 'fanny daggers' Grin

twiglet · 08/09/2018 07:19

I just got a load of maternity items yesterday - leggings, tights, a dress and sports wear from lidl of all places they are having a maternity and baby week started on Thursday. It was pretty reasonable. They had maternity jeans for £10 but they were all skinny jeans which I don't like. Nothing was more than £10.

It was my DH who found out about it after watching me for several evenings getting frustrated with what to spend on maternity clothes but having limited clothes to wear. I raised an eyebrow but agreed to check it out not thinking I would get anything! DH was smug when we came out lol 😂
I'm trying to save as much as possible for baby stuff and maternity wear was frustrating me with cost as I feel bad spending loads on something for a few months.

Cheery1 · 08/09/2018 07:28

@twiglet - I know the feeling not wanting to spend much. eBay is great for second hand stuff, all sorts that only been worn for a few months so cheap and in good condition. Might not be your thing but I’ve found it so helpful for saving money! Brilliant for baby clothes and toys too x
