@DragonFlew - aww it does! The waiting is a killer! We didn't find out with our first so now I've got my head around finding out I'm really excited! Can't wait to hear all is OK too and to see my lovely bean again x

Fiep · 08/09/2018 16:54

@twiglet you inspired me and I just bought a bunch of stuff from Lidl. Really reasonable. Their cycling and ski gear is good quality so I'm hoping the maternity wear is as well. My local Lidl was rammed with preggo ladies!

Baby160P · 08/09/2018 17:22

We just had a sneaky peek private scan but we didn't find out the gender as our 20 week scan is on OH birthday so it would be nice to see. It felt painful the answer just being there and having to close our eyes for the checks!!

I love private scans they go into so much more detail than NHS. Looking at the little kidneys, lungs, heart and all the insides.... checking all fingers and toes etc. 😍

DragonFlew · 08/09/2018 17:55

@Baby160P you're tempting me into a private scan! I've decided I'm going to have one next weekend - but will book last minute. I really want DS1 and DS2 to have the experience with us! I'm 16 weeks on Monday so hoping they'll be able to establish the gender by the Sunday 16+6!

Baby160P · 08/09/2018 18:02

@DragonFlew I should be on commission lol. We're 16+2 today and they got us to close our eyes as it would be obvious what were having so I'm sure you'll be fine.

This is our first but the people before us took their children in and they come out really excited saying they're having a sister!

The difference from our 12 week scan to now was amazing too! I recommend. ❤️

DragonFlew · 08/09/2018 18:10

@Baby160P ah that's beautiful! Ok you've convinced me!
At my clinic they do a sneak peek in 4d as well!
It's strange at this stage of pregnancy because we're not feeling movements properly yet, but the morning sickness etc is fading. So it would be good to have another look, before 20w!

twiglet · 08/09/2018 18:19

@Fiep I've got their leggings on today really comfy and soft! Glad the share helped it took me by surprise that I liked the stuff and the price!

Baby160P · 08/09/2018 18:33

@DragonFlew I agree! I wasn't even anxious today which makes a change. Was just lovely to see it!

Fiep · 08/09/2018 19:22

@twiglet Yeah I wouldn't have known so your share deffo helped! I really like the sports clothes - my usual workout clothes were getting a bit uncomfortable. The dresses are smart and comfy too if you like the tight maternity style (as opposed to flowy) and suitable for work.

@DragonFlew I checked out my local nct page too which was helpful - thank you for the tip.

DragonFlew · 08/09/2018 19:27

Got some fab maternity bargains in H&M online today. Join their club for free and you get 10% off and free delivery too. Loads of maternity wear is in the sale

sickmumma · 08/09/2018 19:55

We are having a 16 week scan on Thursday! I can't wait! It will be nice for the children to join in! Our daughter is counting down the sleeps!

I haven't brought any maternity items yet, if anything my jeans seem to be a bit too baggy on me and everyone is saying I have lost weight (haven't told school mums etc yet!) I have been really ill so it's not a huge surprise, even today at 15 weeks I just feel rubbish! Can't wait to be able to eat again normally! I haven't officially weighed myself but perhaps will give DMIL scales a try tomorrow as I'm curious now! ( don't actually own scales 😂🙈)

I have finally brought two items - a sleepyhead and a baby record book today!

Alice what items were at the baby fair in sundown? We drove past it today! We went to the mothercare in weybridge as they were selling everything off! Saw a bugaboo fox for £600 but can't stretch to that just right now as it's our sons birthday in 2 weeks and then another 3 weeks after that! I think once they are out the way we'll start properly buying and also once we know the sex!!

Lulabell1 · 09/09/2018 00:43

@baby160p i found that also with private scan...i guess they may get less patients than hosp and that makes it a little bit more fun for them to make it personal. We had our dating scan and gender scan private was lovely to have my mum DP and even DD come along 15 minute scan and the same with gender and we got our gender balloon included u also get too choose your pictures in our one and they come out on actual photo paper.

Has anyone elsr started to get heartburn Angry

Yakadee · 09/09/2018 07:52

19!weeks today, that 20 week scan is so close I can almost taste it!

My app said baby is as big as a game boy lol xx

Since2016 · 09/09/2018 07:58

Re scans - I’ve found all of our nhs scans to be very detailed and sonographers all very pleasant. With regard to the ‘difference’ - remember you’re paying for a private scan - so it’s in their interest to provide more detail / spend more time on the parts that are potentially less relevant medical wise - particularly as they want you to come back! I don’t think you can really compare! It’s a business!

Just my two pence!

kjonesey2 · 09/09/2018 08:34

Our 20 week scan for DS was also really detailed compared to the 12 week scan, simply because they can see more! The sonographer showed us the four chambers of his heart, and they count fingers/toes, check brain, face etc. So for the first timers that aren't having private scans and feel like they're missing out, don't worry :)

IndiX · 09/09/2018 08:37

Is anyone else suffering with sciatica? I got it in pregnancy with my DD but not til around 6/7 months. I've had it for a couple of weeks and it's agony. I'm usually really good with getting on with pain but I'm taking paracetamol every 4 hours and trying to stretch as much as poss but it's still so painful!
Also tried hot water bottle on it which helps for a short time but I think it's mainly becuase I can't rest as much as I have a toddler to chase around after🙈
Anyone experienced it or have any other tips? X

@IndiX I also suffered with sciatica recently, I think it probably started around week 15 and I’m now 19 weeks and I haven’t suffered for about a week now (touch wood it stays away!!) I hope yours settles down soon, it’s such a weird pain isn’t it?! I couldn’t find anything that would ease the pain but found it was worse when I was walking around more. I hope you find something that helps you.

sickmumma · 09/09/2018 14:01

@Alicejj8x ahh! I wish I had gone now! My friend went this morning and text me saying they had brought their buggy and got about £300 off! I have just asked for a quote from peppermint (I have a feeling this is the store in Kingston) as it is advertised on their website they are price matching all the baby show items so I will be interested to hear what they come back with! I've asked for quotes on about 3/4 buggies as we are still not sure what one we want!

I don't think we'll have time to pop into the show today, we have been at a birthday party this morning and off to MIL for diner in an hour or so!

Lulabell1 · 09/09/2018 15:35

Its always good to pop into mothercare in kingston as the always havr managers specials too on buggies. Also january sales! X

Koalatom1 · 09/09/2018 19:07

@lookingforadvice123 I felt the same after finding out my 2nd was a boy, and I won’t lie it took ages to get over it! But I’m really glad my eldest has a younger brother as he’s quite a cautious child so he follows his more confident younger brother and into similar things.
Plus boys are so cute and get a bad rep as being aggressive!

Lookingforadvice123 · 09/09/2018 20:11

Koalatom1 were you upset? I'm not upset, I'm really excited, it's just that "aw I'll never have a daughter" feeling as this is 100% our last. I've pictured us with two boys though since we had DS. I'm not one to buy into gender stereotypes either and I'm well aware all the reasons I wanted a girl are superficial eg buying pretty clothes!

Lookingforadvice123 · 09/09/2018 20:12

And your son sounds just like mine, he's sooo cautious/scared of loads of things, I love it about him though. He's still very sociable, it's more the physical side he's cautious about.

sickmumma · 09/09/2018 21:31

Honestly I have two boys then had a girl and hand on heart can say having two boys together is such a lovely experience! I love my girl but my is she hard work and tbh I am hoping this little one is a boy too! I love my daughter don't get me wrong but the boys are much less complicated and easier to please! Plus when you find you are having a girl the clothes aren't half as lovely as you expect and tbh I much prefer the boys clothes to girls! You can still dress boys edgy and cool! My two boys get on really well, me and my brother used to fight a lot!
