twiglet that's just how it's felt for me early on with both pregnancies, a flick from the inside!

Speaking of well-cushioned, DS has kicked me in the stomach twice this week. We're on holiday and it was in the swimming pool so not as hard as it would've been on dry land. It didn't hurt all that much and didn't hurt afterwards. Assuming that's ok? I'm very relaxed in this pregnancy and now concerned I'm being too relaxed!

Since2016 · 06/09/2018 09:29

@lookingforadvice123 I think you’re fine - DD has kicked me in the tummy during swimming and at bed time - all fine and I had a scan on Monday! Enjoy your holiday! I’m soooo relaxed now - esp after all the stress of the first few weeks and the bleeding although I suppose all the additional monitoring is helping!

Picklesandpies · 06/09/2018 10:38

Just received my bbhugme pillow. I think I may never get up from my bed again. Absolute heaven.

AliceRR · 06/09/2018 11:01

I just has my 16w appt.

I mentioned hitting myself in the belly which had bothered me. She said “did it make you cry?” I said no. “She said did it make you double over in pain like someone had hit you?” I said no. She said not to worry at all...

I got to hear heartbeat for the first time 💗 which was lovely - I wanted to cry(!) but I didn’t!!

Baby160P · 06/09/2018 11:20

@AliceRR so happy you managed to hear it.

I thought of you this morning when some idiot had parked too close and I had to slightly squeeze myself through a gap and then worried the last few hours that I've put some pressure on my bump 🙈

AliceRR · 06/09/2018 11:24

@Baby160P I was so worried she wouldn’t find it!

I’m sure you’ll be fine but we will always worry! Think of my MW checklist - did it make you cry or double over in pain? If not, don’t even worry! 🙂

Baby160P · 06/09/2018 12:21

@AliceRR that's good advice. It didn't hurt at all. 🙈

AliceRR · 06/09/2018 13:11

Also thought I’d mention jabs as I had read about getting flu jab (since I have had a few colds) but no one had mentioned it. A preg colleague at work mentioned whooping cough but no one has mentioned that (unless it is in notes and I haven’t seen it)

I asked MW about flu jab today and she said to get that and also mentioned whooping cough for after 20 w so to just book in for both at same time

Might be worth considering/ asking if it hasn’t been mentioned to you

She said diabetes test should be around 26w

Alicejj8x · 06/09/2018 13:29

Had my 16 week midwife today :)
She listened to the HB and found it easily :) feeling so relived and happy even thou I have Doppler at home it's nice to know what I find at home is defo baby 😊
Now need to book in whooping cough jab and GP for 25 weeks and then back to MW for 28 weeks

Alicejj8x · 06/09/2018 13:30

@twiglet
Mine felt like popcorn popping and I said that to Mw today and she said that was defo baby xx

lanalawr · 06/09/2018 13:45

@AliceRR Have you been told you can't have the whooping cough vaccination until after 20 weeks? If you have, then that's old information (it changed about 2-3 years ago - I remember the bulletin coming out in work (I work for the NHS)). They now say that the ideal time to be vaccinated is 16-32 weeks. There's nothing wrong with having it after 20 weeks but you don't have to wait that long. You can have it later than 32 weeks but there are concerns about how well protected the baby will be after this point.

So pleased that so many of you have been reassured by hearing the heartbeat. I've got a long wait for that but only a couple of weeks until the anomaly scan!

AliceRR · 06/09/2018 13:52

@Alicejj8x 🙂💗

@lanalawr Yes that’s what she said. That’s interesting 🤔 I am nearly 18 week’s now anyway so not so long to wait to 20wk

UndercoverLauren · 06/09/2018 14:19

@AliceRR I'm getting the whooping cough vaccine with the 20 week scan. It may be worth giving them a call and asking if you can have it then.

Alicejj8x · 06/09/2018 14:46

@AliceRR
I was told today by MW to ring the GP and book whopping cough for after 20 weeks and then when I see stuff about flu jab get that but coz it's not in season atm she said leave it till you see the signs about it. And then see the GP for my 25w appointment too

Alicejj8x · 06/09/2018 14:49

However this says this from the NHS website so I guess you can get it any time from 16 weeks?

Yakadee · 06/09/2018 15:03

My midwife said to book in for whooping and flu after 20 weeks so I'm booked in for both that same week x

lanalawr · 06/09/2018 15:06

It frustrates me that they're still giving out old advice after so long. It's not particularly harmful but there is a school of thought that earlier may be better. The flu jab is usually available from some point in September. You can have the flu and whooping cough vaccines at the same time too so it may be worth ringing your surgery to find out when their stock of vaccine will be delivered.
I'm lucky that I get the flu jab through work anyway so don't need to take time off for it but for most people two appointments in one go would be better.

Yakadee · 06/09/2018 15:12

@lanalawr - Yeah I'm booked in for both at the same time c

AliceRR · 06/09/2018 15:15

I can get the flu jab at work too but if I have to go into the medical centre for whooping cough vaccine I may as well go in for both...

AliceRR · 06/09/2018 15:18

Apparently flu jab is not available til October so I have just booked in for both on 1 October when I will be 21 weeks which should be ok?

Notquiteagandt · 06/09/2018 15:20

Those who are feeling baby move? How often are you. I have no idea how often I should be feeling it and when they get into a routine. Over thinking I know...

Yakadee · 06/09/2018 15:33

@Notquiteagandt - I wouldn't worry too much right now. You probably won't notice a pattern etc for a while yet. I am feeling my baby now. It's every day but only a few times. They're so small still it's nothing to worry about x

Alicejj8x · 06/09/2018 15:41

I've booked my in for end of September so I'll be basically 20 weeks when I have mine anyway

AliceRR · 06/09/2018 15:45

@notquiteagandt I have felt movement (I think) at intervals of something like five days which is odd but I assume they will get more regular but it is still quite early. And perhaps we only feel them more when we are still / quiet etc compared to when we are busy and in noisy environments

Rowse · 06/09/2018 15:49

@Picklesandpies I love my bbhugme pillow! And it even kept cool enough to use during the summer heatwave.
