Thought I'd get the new thread started as no one objected to my title suggestion

Polar mummy
I drink mugs too...

MrsFish · 26/06/2007 09:12

Step away from the keyboard if you are getting wound up... its not worth it that comes from experience btw, I have had issues with people on another forum I frequent and used to get myself into such a state, till I told myself it wasn't worth it for someone I didn't know in RL

Apricott · 26/06/2007 09:21

Morning ladies,

Inzi - great news about the scan.

Welcome Designerbaby. Don't worry about the notes. Not your fault.

Sorry if I've got muddled and got either of your names wrong - preggie brain issues here constantly.

I know what you all mean about scary characters out there on general MN. I rarely venture beyond here myself. Find it all a bit intimidating. Do you reckon we'll descend into irrascibility and temper tantrums too as we heave our swelling bellies through the predicted heatwave of July and August ?

... I don't think so.

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 09:31

Good advice Mrs Fish
If you all fancy a laugh have a look at the mercedes thread to see me getting my knickers in a twist!
Going OUT now, stepping AWAY from the keyboard and going to soft play with ds1 and friends.

Ta for support, this is a lovely thread

nellieloula · 26/06/2007 09:33

I haven't really seen any of the other contentious threads either - just not worth getting into those kind of debates. Mrs Fish is right to just step away. let's just stick to this lovely one instead!

designerbaby · 26/06/2007 10:23

Morning all... sorry not to have replied last night, but mainly just post at work in the odd spare minute. We have internet at home but DH is surgically attached to it, I think... Not that I'm complaining as he does all our admin .

Thanks for the welcome all - it's MUCH nicer here that on the other board - people can be mean over there, which I wasn't expecting. Isn't there an unwritten code somewhere about being nice to each other when we're pregnant!? There should be...

Floria - I just read back through the posts a bit to find out what the story was... having gathered that I'd missed something quite important. FWIW I think you're tremendously brave...

We had 5 weeks of uncertainty while various things were ruled out one by one (Edwards, anencephaly, exompahalos, heart problems and so forth) and I can honestly say it was the very worst 5 weeks of my life. I can only imagine what it must be like living with that kind of uncertainty over a longer period. Thankfully everything turned out to be fine with our little one - which makes you wonder "WTF that was all about"...

Really really hope you get the outcome you so obviously deserve.

Nothing to add on the CS Vs VBA (is that the correct acronym?) as this is my first, other than to say that CS just look really scarey... mind you the other kind doesn't look like a walk in the park. To be honest I'm just getting more anxious about the whole thing with every passing week .

Right, I'm going to read back a bt more so I can understand you lovely people a bit better and find out what you're all up to.

BTW have just has a Starbucks Frappuccino - which is really bad on so many levels caffeine aside... It's my daily reward for surviving an hour on the tube! However I think I've got my system fooled into believing that decaff tea is the real thing. Refusing to incriminate myself by disclosing my chocolate intake though . Funny thing is, I was never much of a chocolate eater before...

You're all lovely - can wait to get to know you better...

morning all

muppetgirl - seriously there are people on other threads that have very strong views on issues, that imo talk a load of rubbish, but each to there own i suppose, i usually humour or ignore them.

erm thats all i can remember what people said! i'm so crap, sorry

well its stopped raining badly here, just drizzling, dd's school is shut again today but we're going to try and go for a walk to shop and to find my missing cat who no doubt will be at my old house. i need my car

also, my friend rung me this morning to say her and her dc's have started with chest pains like i've been getting so i've probably got a virus or something, and its not related to the pg, which is a bit of a relief.

i'm still not sleeping very well, as soon as i lay down i get heartburn or indigestion or something, never had it before, but i assume its that, so having to have gaviscon-eugh!!

hope everyone is well, sorry that all i've done is talk about me again, i feel like thats all i do on this thread!

j20baby · 26/06/2007 10:28

oh yes, just read through and remembered about the caffine thing, i normally have 2 to 4 cups a day of coffee, which i think is ok

j20baby · 26/06/2007 10:32

p.s Am I Being Unreasonable...to expect my dd to let me sit on mumsnet without nagging me to get dressed and go out before it rains again?!

hmph!!!

nellieloula · 26/06/2007 10:33

I have another question/observation - has anyone else noticed that they feel worse (more shattered, more hormonal, wanting to eat crap, feeling low etc etc) at the time their period would have ordinarily been? Or is this, like so many other things!!, just in my head??

MrsFish · 26/06/2007 10:41

J20 - Remegel or Rennee chewy sweets are so much nicer than gaviscon

FloriaTosca · 26/06/2007 11:12

Thanks Designerbaby. I think Alice must be right, when I'm writing I must come over all eloquent and seem to be a nice intelligent rational and selfless sort when the sadly the opposite is true...my Mum would tell you that I'm simply selfish and stupid... perhaps I'm just slightly cracked in believing that eventually luck must change in our favour and every wriggle and kick that I get (and boy am I getting a lot this morning, like Lo is saying "yes Mum!")I think that just perhaps, fingers crossed, it has at last. I'm so glad that everything has turned out alright in the long run for you.
I'm also grateful for finding MN, though I haven't really ventured beyond this wonderful group of fantastic women.
Cant remember who brought up the caffine issue (sorry...blame baby brain)but normally I live on coffee and pepsi max..the first sign of pregnancy for me every time is that they both suddenly taste utterly disgusting... seriously upchuck disgusting.. and I cant bear the smell let alone the taste. So my caffine intake is down to 1 or 2 small mugs of quite weak tea a day . (I'm not going to even try counting the chocolate intake however ...wierd when I've never realy had a sweet tooth before.)
However, though I havent read anything negative about quinine in pregnancy I cant help thinking it cant be too good for the LO and I'm having serious trouble resticting my intake of bitter-lemon ...I've become addicted! Particulary mixed with fresh orange juice, mmmm! It realy helps my rotten indigestion, but so does fizzy water so that is no excuse

Oh, am I wierd or something...I actually like Gaviscon ...I need to, I'm demolishing a bottle of it a week at the moment!

OP posts:
MrsFish · 26/06/2007 11:18

eurgghh! it makes me heave [shudder]

FloriaTosca · 26/06/2007 11:19

Sorry Nellie..I'm shattered, hormonal and want to eat crap ALL the time not just when my period would have been due!

OP posts:
Mumpbump · 26/06/2007 11:21

Good morning all!

I think we should impose a daily word limit on posts so that it doesn't take so long to catch up... Whaddyareckon??

Welcome to designerbaby! Don't let them make you feel bad. I don't think I had my bloods until very late in the first pg as the m/w didn't do my height and weight so told me to bin them and she'd send a reprint in the post which didn't arrive until almost 30 weeks! If you're worried, just pop along to your doctor's and get them to run the bloods again.

Congratulations on your positive scan, inzi!

Someone mentioned a while ago the possibility of a Welsh get together. Is there anyone else on this thread who works in or very near to the City part of London? Perhaps we could organise a get together at some point in the next couple of months before we all start disappearing on maternity leave... That would give us all something to look forward to now the scans are over...

Ds slept through again last night so has definitely finished teething. But I can see his canines lurking so goodness knows how long the respite will last. It makes so much difference having a good night's sleep! Managing to feed at night a newborn and ds' teething will be interesting... Suspect dh might not get away so lightly in terms of night-wakings this time around!!!

Can't remember all the stuff that everyone has posted so am not even going to try, but hope that everyone is doing well and counting down to the third trimester!!

MrsFish · 26/06/2007 11:21

Same here - she says just polishing off a cupcake

ejt1764 · 26/06/2007 11:38

morning ... 26 weeks today - hurray! Have nearly made it to the third trimester!

Am not going to say anything else except hot drinks :bleeeeeuuuuuuugggggghhhhh! Poor dh has to go outside to drink his coffe if I'm around - the smell, especially in the mornings, makes me hurl! nice!

Forgot to tell you yesterday that GP has signed me off again - but that she agrees with me that it'll be easier for me if I go back for the last day of term - however, that now means I've got shedloads of stuff to do at home!

I must do some work today!

designerbaby · 26/06/2007 11:39

Floria - I think you should just try and face the fact that you're actually a pretty brave, capable, intelligent and generally fantastic person. It's a tough thing to admit, I'm sure, but the sooner you so so the sooner you can figure out how to live with it. It wont be easy but we're all here for you...

Mumpbump - I'm in Bayswater which is just a short hop along the central line if that helps? I'd be up for a get-together at some point although the City makes me feel nervous and underdressed amongst all those suits - I'm just a scruffy designer, see...

I do have a suit somewhere, I'm sure, but I definitely won't fit into it any more!!

Designerbaby..pmsl!!!...if you only knew!!!I'd show that one liner to my DH when he comes home but I dont want to have to wash his underwear and mop the floor!!!!
Mump, I'm sorry, I'll try to limit myself to short posts honest...its this eloquence it just comes over me! (Sorry, sorry Alice I couldnt resist....see message to Designer above...if he'd read your message it would have had the same reaction too!)

OP posts:
PolarMummy · 26/06/2007 11:56

Mrs Fish I am with you about the Gaviscon it makes me want to hurl as well, it is so think I can feel it sliding down yuck yuck yuck. And I am sorry Floria but I just have to say that yes you are weird

I am interested in you saying about the Remegel etc Mrs Fish as I was advised to only take Gaviscon as the others can give the baby colic after it is born, not sure if this is right or not though anyone else heard this?

MrsFish · 26/06/2007 12:00

Well both those I mentioned say you can take whilst pregnant and breastfeeding, didn't know about the colic issue, but I don't care, I'll deal with the colic afterwards if I have to, there is no way I could stop taking the remegel as I really can not take Gaviscon.

FloriaTosca · 26/06/2007 12:03

Muppet; just read the mercedes thread...oooh classic! I needed a laugh! I second the women who said they'd like to give being a kept woman a try: My dh has plans for me to take a couple of paracetamol and be back out in the paddy fields within an hour of giving birth !!!
Did you see the thread someones dh started asking if anyone had seen his wife?...he'd last seen her heading for the attic to do the ironing and having put their ds to bed wondered where she was as ds was asking for her! That had me in tears too!..wish I had written down the title.

OP posts:
designerbaby · 26/06/2007 12:12

Where is this mercedes thread? Sounds lieke a classic and I'm a bit bored today..

FloriaTosca · 26/06/2007 12:17

its titled something like "am I being unreasonable to expect my husband to buy me the mercedes parked outside our house" a light hearted giggle that got really funny when the fem brigade marched in all serious...muppet did get her knickers in a bit of a twist
