@ashley992 I was but stopped after getting my BFP just because I’d read somewhere that it can just make you Moreno anxious (and I definitely don’t need that!!)

AmyRhodes · 23/08/2018 22:49

@Footymum81 Wow, my doctor didn't do any of that! He literally took my word for it and told me to go to reception to book in with the midwife.

What's Emma's Diary?

Footymum81 · 23/08/2018 22:55

@AmyRhodes it's this booklet that they give you, been going for years as I got one 15 years ago when pregnant with DD. Bits of info, offers etc and a diary section week by week from the viewpoint of 'Emma'. There's also a form to pick up some samples etc from boots.
With DD I was going through the pregnancy alone, at 21 (had support from family but not ex) so found it hard to relate to this 'smug married' happy pregnancy.

zarala · 23/08/2018 23:08

@AmyRhodes I totally feel you! Everyone just takes our word' and just leave us to get on with it!

When I first was pregnant with my dd I immediately went to my GP- because I thought that's what we had to do and she looked at me and said- what are you doing here? Do you not want the baby?
And I was like what??? No!
She was like you don't need to come to doctor just self refer yourself to any hospital and they'll see you around 9 weeks!

Crazy!

AmyRhodes · 23/08/2018 23:10

@zarala @Footymum81

See I don't know any of this! 😅

rampantrose · 24/08/2018 01:30

Congratulations ladies on your pregnancies! I'm currently almost 6 weeks in guessing! Midwife argues 10 weeks but we will soon see. Feeling horrific. Sickness is overbearing and everything is making me feel worse. Can't stand any smells at all. Cant sleep. Just want to sit and sob all the time for no reason. Have never felt like this before in both my previous pregnancies and feel so alone as scared to tell people we are expecting as terrified something will go wrong. Wish I could get past this anxiety and sickness and enjoy my pregnancy. Xxx

monkerina · 24/08/2018 07:42

So sorry @dartmoor xx

It's still not feeling real here either, despite the face I saw flickering splodge a fortnight ago! Private scans are £80 here too, no groupons/wowchers, so I'm living for the next few days when I can get my doppler out and find a heartbeat 🙈 found it with a bit of searching at 8+6 with DS and last pregnancy, so only 6 days to go!!

I also find it hard to connect with Emma's Diary, the way she Just Gets Pregnant then isn't massively anxious and NOTHING GOES WRONG just doesn't mesh with my experience at all!

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 24/08/2018 07:46

Congrats rampantrose, have you had a scan yet? I don’t want to scare you but that’s exactly how I felt with my twins and weeks 8-10 were the worst!
I need to get up but just feel so rubbish.....

Treaclepie19 · 24/08/2018 08:20

I've woken up really energised and motivated. So now I'm worried 😂
Going to make the most of it as no doubt I'll be feeling crap later on.
I realised with my son the nausea must've got to its worst at 10 weeks as I didn't see the midwife until 9+4/5 and it wasn't too bad until after that.
So there's still time for it to get worse 🙈 Last time it was awful so I thought I was escaping with it just coming and going.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 24/08/2018 08:22

Another word on Emma’s Diary - I naively filled in all the forms etc they sent first time round and they definitely sold my details to other companies. I know because we’d only just moved and there was no way anyone else had access to that address. They were in the news recently for doing similar so although I hoped it had changed in 7 years it seems not...

Similarly, Bounty packs are useful for the freebies and leaflets but you don’t have to sign up for stuff with them. I didn’t have the pushy photo lady in the post natal ward with my first but I did have a pushy lady saying I couldn’t get my child benefit form if I didn’t fill in her pack. I later found out you can get them from the post office, of course.

rampantrose · 24/08/2018 09:29

@SheRaTheAllPowerful. No scan yet. Other halfs mum keeps telling me we are having twins! It runs in the family. Only people who know are immediate family! Went bed 8:30pm was awake 11:30pm-3am feeling horrific and never really got back to sleep. Just Wish I knew how to ease the sickness. Hopefully it will ease off soon! Xx

NorthernStep · 24/08/2018 09:38

Hi Ladies,
Mind if I join? I'm only 5+4 and by my calculations due on the 23rd April. Not gonna lie, this pregnancy is a bit of a shock, my DD is 1 on Sunday and the plan was to start trying for a second after her birthday, considering it took a year to catch with her, to fall pregnant without actively trying was a surprise! Still very nervous about it all as I had a late miscarriage at 16 weeks in 2016 and the dates for this pregnancy are damn near exactly the same as that one, just 3 years on, so it's all a bit weird! I'll pm Organised to join the fb group when I figure out how to do that!
Sending you all healthy vibes x Smile

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 24/08/2018 09:48

@Treaclepie19 I felt like that yesterday and got loads done, today I feel like crap again Wink so I guess it doesn’t mean anything but that we’ll have good days and bad ones Hmm

Mejse · 24/08/2018 10:25

Called our gp today and have an appointment for the 13th of September. I start my final teaching experience on Monday and will be there the next 7 weeks, I really don't know what to say to them about my appointment.

@rampantrose we have twins in my family too so people always tease me about having twins

Treaclepie19 · 24/08/2018 10:27

Haha @ChocolateChipMuffin2016, it didnt last long. Already back to worn out and nauseous.

SPR1107 · 24/08/2018 10:35

Really sorry to hear that @DartmoorDoughnut. Take care of yourself x

AwkwardAsAllGetout · 24/08/2018 11:59

I had my booking in today so it’s all feeling very real. I’ve been told to scan appointment will be sent in the post and that I’ve also been referred to a consultant who’ll see me at about 20 weeks due to a previous bad bleed I had during a miscarriage at 10 weeks. My midwife is confident that they’ll refer me straight back to midwife care and I really hope that’s the case as I’ve never had a high risk pregnancy before and I’d rather be in the midwife unit to give birth. I won’t see the midwife now for another two months! I’m really worried about getting through the next two weeks and past 10 weeks as that’s when we had our bad loss, and I’ve also realised that my dates are pretty much exactly the same for this pregnancy as they were in that one.

sachabloom · 24/08/2018 12:18

@AwkwardAsAllGetout fingers crossed for you for the next couple of weeks ❤️

What did you do at your booking appointment? First timer here so no idea what to expect.

Mine is next week. I had a scan this week where they couldn't find babies heartbeat so I have to go back next week so I am feeling a bit panicked at the moment x

OP posts:
AwkwardAsAllGetout · 24/08/2018 12:27

Well it was earmarked for an hour but I had to take 2dc with me as I’ve already called in too many babysitting favours this summer Grin and it actually only took 30 minutes or so as she knew I’d heard most of it before. I had urine tested and bloods taken, BP, height and weight were measured, and was talked through the local system as I had my dc in another county. My hospital is paperless so there’s an app I’ll get where all my info will be stored. It’s reassuringly old hat to me, but I know I’m older this time and previous miscarriages do put me more at risk so we’ll see how things progress. My scan should be in about a month and I’ve consented to all the blood tests that will happen then too. My midwife was lovely, and also has a dc with ASD so it was nice that she’ll understand the kind of pressure I’m under daily and not make too big a deal of it or make silly suggestions about taking it easy!

ashley992 · 24/08/2018 12:52

We have just had an early scan and a heartbeat was found and everything seemed to match my dates which was a relief. The only thing worrying me is the bleed which is detailed on the scan notes I've attached. They said it's only been discovered as I've had an early scan. Has anyone experienced this before?

April 2019 babies continued
AmyRhodes · 24/08/2018 12:58

@ashley992 I've no advice or experience about the bleed I'm afraid, did they not say anything to you about it?

But you heard the heartbeat! That's wonderful. Congratulations x

ashley992 · 24/08/2018 13:03

@AmyRhodes Thank you. They just said that anyone could have it and not know as not everyone has an early scan. We came away without any leaflets about it so that's usually a good sign! We have another scan in a couple of weeks due to me having 2 previous MC so hopefully it's cleared up by then.

AmyRhodes · 24/08/2018 13:12

If they weren't worried about it, I'd say you're fine 😊

5tarlight · 24/08/2018 13:15

Hi ladies! Been lurking for a week or 2 but feeling a bit braver to join you as am 6weeks today! Had been starting fertility investigations so very pleased to be here instead! Due 19th April.
So sorry to those with early bad news, hope you are taking care of yourselves. Flowers
Had quite a lot of spotting in the run up to taking the Pg test at 4 wks, and low progesterone at my day 21 bloods this cycle, so have managed after many phone calls to persuade them to give me an early scan. That's next Weds (I'll be 6+5, hoping it's not too early to see something). A bit frustrating as when you read around low progesterone in early Pg, so many American ladies are given a progesterone pessary as a matter of course, here after much pushing I have been told that this is never done in naturally conceived pregnancies. So, am trying to be positive as I've no further issues in the meantime, and just keeping everything crossed that everything is going ok in there.
Midwife booking in appointment next week also.
Symptom-wise not too bad at all, am a little sleepier than usual and boobs are sore, but my main issue so far is the bloat, ugh its huge! I can't wear any trousers apart from old joggers for longer than an hour! I may have to tell people early just so am not judged on my bizarre and unflattering fashion choices Grin - or bite the bullet and buy mat jeans? Confused
Anyway congrats to all and hope you're all doing well.

TheMagicTorch · 24/08/2018 13:50

@AwkwardAsAllGetout that sounds like a positive experience! Thanks for sharing for those of us first-timers 🙂 I've just got my appointment for mine on 11th September, seems ages away!

@ashley992 Sounds like they're not worried about it, lovely that you heard a heartbeat too!

Can't wait to have my early scan, hopefully all goes well
