@AwkwardAsAllGetout thank you, hopefully they will not keep me waiting for long.

ashley992 · 01/09/2018 21:23

@supersonicwoman1 I had a scan at 7 weeks and they tried abdomen first but couldn't see anything so had to do internal which they made me go to toilet before having. It really isn't that bad x

Tinypause · 02/09/2018 02:48

Hi ladies, can I join in? Pregnant with my first...had a confusing time with due dates as LMP makes me due 3.4.19 but had an early scan last week and they have said 19.4.19! Scan all looked normal and we saw the hb which was reassuring. Quite a difference in dates but we were travelling at the time so I guess that messed my cycle up a bit. I am actually a midwife and finding it very odd being on the other side. People have always discussed morning sickness and boob tenderness with me but nobody (including friends) has ever mentioned this horrendous bloating...I constantly feel like I am about to explode...Can't wait for this to subside! Have also managed to develop sciatica already...argh! Hope you are already having a lovely weekend!

Fluffy475 · 02/09/2018 07:39

Welcome @Tinypause the first trimester is always the hardest because you're body is just all over the place! Are you community or ward re midwife, will you have to be on your feet all the time? Hopefully it's the former so you can try and rest as much as poss, sciatica is horrible!! There's a secret facebook as well btw, if you dm @organised5 she'll send you an invite

Fluffy475 · 02/09/2018 07:43

@AwkwardAsAllGetout glad you've found someone at sw to help. I have suffered since a teenager around body confidence and have had to deal with eating disorders. In the last couple of years it's the first time I've really let go and then gained a load of weight so gone the other way and ended up back where I started with actual real reasons this time!! I've never been worried about pg weight as I've always embraced my body for what it's doing. Once my body has stopped some of the tweaking and stretching going on at the moment I'm going back to Zumba to help keep up my cardio and I'm also going to do pg yoga as I had SPD second
Time round which I'd like to avoid!! Good luck with SW and just get to be kind to yourself and sensible as much as possible. If you feel you're moving to a darker place with anything then don't feel afraid to reach out to gp/midwife, happy mum, happy bump and all that xx

Tinypause · 02/09/2018 09:34

Thanks Fluffy475! I'm not on Facebook at the mo...got sick and tired of all the ads etc. I am a caseload midwife so work in all aspects of maternity care including labour care...I have a lovely team so I know they will support me when I am having a busy time. Very much looking forward to maternity leave already though!

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 02/09/2018 10:13

I want to keep it a secret until after my scan but my MIL has already commented to my husband, tat my fave looks different and why didn’t I have wine with dinner....
I spent the last week with my mum but even if she had guessed she hasn’t commented because I should be able to say when I want rather than it being poked out of me.
Am feeling rather emotional and huffy :(
It’s just that I’d like to tell my girls first but need to have a scan to know it’s all ok. I’m 7 weeks today, and my booking in appointment is in 8 days so scan will probably be a few weeks after that.
Have you guys told people??

MigMog · 02/09/2018 10:17

Is anyone else always hungry? If I have a meal give me a few hours and I'm starving again. Spending my time nibbling on dry fruit and nuts to keep the hunger at bay.

Mejse · 02/09/2018 12:27

@SheRaTheAllPowerful we have told my parents, my sister and a few close friends, they know it's still early days. We will tell other close friends and family when it comes up, we aren't in a rush but not keeping it a secret either. If the worst happens we would speak to them about it anyway.

Dh told dss already and we told him right away last time. We tried to explain in a way that he will understand, that my body is trying to grow a baby but it doesn't work out every time, that we will find out at the 12 weeks scan if things have gone well. We thought it would be worse if he overheard us or we slipped up and said something in front of him. Also if anything did happen I think he would know that something was up and be worried.

It's a really personal thing though and you should do it when it feels right to you. I don't understand why people ask into it, surely they will find out when you are ready. Bil asked us when we are having another on the day we got a very faint positive at 9dpo and there was no way we were saying anything when there was the potential of a chemical. Don't feel pressured to tell anyone if that's not what you want

littleemma1 · 02/09/2018 18:41

@AwkwardAsAllGetout ive followed slimming world for a lot of years and I’ve just told my consultant that I’m pregnant yesterday. I’m only 6+2 today so telling someone other then immediate family felt so naughty and tempting fate but I CANNOT let myself go.
I did really well at one point and lost 4 stone, then I moved in with DH and put 2 stone back on. Since coming off the pill and TTC I’ve fought tooth and nail to control my weight as I have PCOS so now I’m pregnant I don’t want my weight to become more of a problem.
Currently my BMI is 34-35 so I’m gonna be high risk when I go for my booking in but I’m hoping they’ll say I can still steadily lose weight with SW.
My consultant gave me a booklet and had a good chat with me yesterday and I’ll get the forms off her next week to take to my booking in.
For me, I’m terrified of seeing the scales going up as that doesn’t do my head any good but I know deep down it’s for a good thing and for something I want so bad so I’m willing to do it.
Hope you cope ok with it and feel free to drop me a message xx

shamofamockery · 02/09/2018 20:04

Hi all - can I join the Facebook group please? Also, need a quick straw poll: how impossible would it be for me to go to a wedding 20 days after giving birth (best case scenario) and 10 days after (worst case)?? Weird one I know.

MigMog · 02/09/2018 20:06

@shameofamockery I have the exact same thing. a wedding to go to 20 days after due date. Not even going to think about this for a while! They are really close friends and my OH is an usher

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 02/09/2018 20:08

It depends how far the wedding is and if you’ll still be recovering from the birth, 10 days post section I don’t think I would have wanted to go to a party but after 3 weeks it’s more likely, if not too far from home.obviously much easier if you’re breastfeeding so you don’t have to cart bottles etc with you and babies do sleep a lot (although not when you want them too.
I was also surprised at how pregnant I still looked once I’d given birth, you feel bloated for days, and it takes awhile for your uterus to start shrinking.
Sorry that probably doesn’t help much.

shamofamockery · 02/09/2018 20:12

Helps loads, wedding is over 100 miles away from home but 40 mins from in laws so could use as a base. It's my oldest friend - not in the wedding party but really feel obligated to go. Already can't make the hen as don't fancy giving birth on a hen do!! Grin thanks ladies!

monkerina · 02/09/2018 20:54

@shamofamockery we went to a wedding when DS was 6 weeks, about 60 miles from home, drove there then stayed overnight in a hotel nearby. I'd had a pretty straightforward waterbirth and was breastfeeding, think I could have done it (just!) 3 weeks pp but probably not earlier if that helps? I think a lot depends on 1) how the birth goes and recovery after, and 2) what kind of person you are, I'm a bit anxious!

shamofamockery · 02/09/2018 21:02

I'm meeting the bride to be this week to explain about hen etc, I'll just explain that it will all depend on the birth and I can give her at least a weeks notice if I can't make it. Ah well!

organised5 · 02/09/2018 21:08

Hi guys, for those asking you just need to PM me your email address and you will get an invite to join the fb group. And yes it's completely secret so your Facebook friends won't be able to see you are a member Smile

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 02/09/2018 22:53

We went to a wedding where my dh was best man when my dd was about 6 weeks old. It was ok, even though it involved an overnight stay in a dodgy hotel. I’d had a straightforward birth and was bf.

I took her to the olympics at three weeks old and it was a blimmin mission. I’m sure you could do it at ten days but it might not be very relaxing!

TheMagicTorch · 03/09/2018 14:06

Lots of helpful stories here for me too, I'm due 21 April 19 and my friend gets married 4th May. I've told her I can't be bridesmaid anymore, but hope to still attend the wedding. My DP Is best man and I really don't want him to miss out.

monkerina · 03/09/2018 17:01

Just had my booking in appointment, same midwife as in my last pregnancy- she'd just read my miscarriage notes and gave me a big hug Smile lots of forms, blood taken and wee sample, then she gave me my blue book (we're not technological in my area!) and sent off to the hospital for my 12 week scan. Unfortunately the hospital don't like my dates (long cycles so although my last period was 1st June, I didn't ovulate til mid-July making me 9+3 today) so they've insisted I come in for a dating scan next Monday, yay extra scan!

Who else has got scans/midwife appointments coming up soon?

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 03/09/2018 17:14

I have to wait until the 10th for my booking in scan. Can’t wait for my scan!

Ohnonotanotherusername · 03/09/2018 17:15

Also had my booking in appointment today. Seems more real now I've seen someone. I've been referred to the consultant as I have a type of arthritis - I'm hoping that the consultant will refer me back to midwifery though as I'm otherwise low risk.

She said I should get a scan date shortly and it should be at the end of next week/beginning of the following week. Hopefully not too much longer to wait!

shamofamockery · 03/09/2018 17:55

Have had daily (dark) bleeding since BFP, so had an early can and am having a scan at 10 weeks too, have 12 week scan in 4 weeks. So utterly nerve wracking! Symptoms seem to be getting worse per day though so I must definitely still be pregnant - nausea is horrific!!! Nothing helps it at all - ginger in any form makes me instantly gag. Aaaagh!

italianwifey · 03/09/2018 18:10

@monkerina I’ve got my booking in tomorrow - I’m glad you’ve got a nice midwife, that sounds promising! I’m jealous of your scan - I really want to book a private one but DH won’t let me as we had one at the EPU last week that showed a heartbeat and he is quite rightly pointing out it will only reassure me for a day or two then back to worrying again.
@ohnonotanotherusername that’s good, how far along are you?
@shamofamockery sorry to hear about the bleeding, must be hard not to worry - but the sickness sounds like a very promising (yet horrible) sign!! Have you had a scan already?
I’m having a wobble as my sickness seems to have reduced the past few days... boobs still sore though and still tired so trying not to worry too much.

Ohnonotanotherusername · 03/09/2018 18:12

@italianwifey 10+3 today, so I'll be 12 weeks a week on Friday.
