Hiya! I’m 29 and 6 weeks +1 with my 2nd dc, if my dates are right. Symptoms so far are sore nipples, feeling sick and an aversion to hot drinks. Our ds is 3 in October.
I’ve been in touch with the midwife and she has nothing available til September 10th for my booking in appt. I hate waiting, but hoping that I won’t have to wait long for my scan afterwards. Does anyone else keep poking their boobs to see if they’re still hurting?! I forgot how nerve-wracking these first few weeks are!

AmyRhodes · 26/08/2018 23:10

@Ymamiss I'm symptomless apart from the sore boobs so yes!
I thought it was standard to see your midwife at around week 8 then nothing until week 12?

Ymamiss · 26/08/2018 23:54

Ah I was under the impression that lots of you have already seen your midwife? I'm sure I was seen before 8 weeks last time.
I had an EMCS last time after going over by 13 days, an induction and getting to 6cm before I was scanned and it was found that baby was breech. Found the C section fine and am leaning towards an elective this time, I don't know why but I really don't think I'd be able to cope with a natural birth - I just don't see things going smoothly!

AmyRhodes · 27/08/2018 00:00

@Ymamiss Not me, I saw my doctor on 14th August, who booked me in with midwife for 11th September. I'll be 9+3 by then.

Got impatient so I've booked a private scan next week.

Ohnonotanotherusername · 27/08/2018 06:54

I'm 9+3 at the moment and booking in appointment isn't until next week - hopefully I won't have to wait too long for my scan after that.

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 27/08/2018 07:57

I’m 7+2 and am booking in on Thursday! I thought it was a bit early but am looking forward to getting the process started (won’t get a scan date till after the midwife appointment).

kettleonplease · 27/08/2018 07:57

Hello everyone, looking for some reassurance if anyone can offer me some! I'm so nervous and full of anxiety :(. I just had an early scan today and thought going by my dates that I was 6+3, however they said that I was measuring 5+3. I only had one period since breastfeeding so have no idea of my cycle length so I guess this could be ok?

There was also no heartbeat as yet, which scared me. The lady said this was normal based on the size?

Sorry don't mean to be negative, I'm just feeling a bit depressed now as I've been feeling so awful for the last week and kept telling myself at least I was 6 weeks, now I'm back a week and feeling worried :(.

Lolabelle29 · 27/08/2018 08:42

It is normal not to find a heartbeat at 5 weeks so try not to worry. It’s hard but stay positive and wait for another scan x

AmyRhodes · 27/08/2018 08:52

@kettleonplease

Very normal to not find a heartbeat at 5 weeks. The embryo's heart doesn't actually start beating until week 6 and even then it is usually not detectable until week 7 or 8.

Try not to worry.

kettleonplease · 27/08/2018 09:32

Thank you both, that's such a relief to hear. I've been googling all afternoon 🙈. I guess I'll just have to put it to the back of my mind for a few weeks. Pregnancy turns me into a ball of anxiety!

donna474 · 27/08/2018 09:39

If you know when you ovulated due to opk testing and tracking is that a more accurate calculation for due date? Will midwifes change date based on that or is it still usually kept with lmp even if you know the date you ovulated?

AmyRhodes · 27/08/2018 09:45

@kettleonplease I totally get it. I'm anxious too. Actually wishing for symptoms to put my mind at rest. Can't wait for a scan.

@donna474 I thought that knowing when you ovulated could give you a more accurate date, but when I mentioned that to my doctor he wasn't interested. They always go by gestation (date since last period) rather than conception (ovulation) when they talk about how far along you are.

You'll get your most accurate idea at 12 week scan when they measure the embryo.

organised5 · 27/08/2018 09:45

@kettleonplease 5+3 would be incredibly early to see a heartbeat. How sure are you of your LMP date? You could have ovulated late in your cycle - say a week late. Would that tie up with when you DTD?

For reference my midwife appointment was 6+4 (first contact with anyone - was told by doctor I didn't need to see them) and I had a private scan at 7+5 where there was a heartbeat.

kettleonplease · 27/08/2018 10:21

I'm so confused as to what dates they go by! I know my last period was on the 12th July, which I thought made me 6+3, however if I ovulated late is it still possible to only be 5+3 (as per todays measurement)? So confusing!!!

monkerina · 27/08/2018 13:28

They almost always use your LMP dates until the 12 week scan when you'll be given a revised date. I got a panicked call from the midwife a couple of weeks ago telling me I was 11 weeks and they should really see me, but I know from OPKs and temps that I was only 7 weeks at the time; luckily I'd had an early scan that agreed with my dates so they're now happy to go with the sonographer's assessment. Dating accurately is really really hard when the embryo is so tiny, literally a millimeter makes a huge difference- try not to worry!

shamofamockery · 27/08/2018 21:48

I'm definitely poking my boobs every couple of hours to check they're still hurting too!! 7 weeks today, have had an early scan at 6+1 as had some bleeding, and had my booking in appt yesterday!

littleemma1 · 28/08/2018 07:50

@shamofamockery and @Ymamiss I poke my boobs too! After 1 miscarriage I’m rather anxious so just keep checking I have as many symptoms as possible 🤣 still early for me, only 5+4 today xx

Treaclepie19 · 28/08/2018 08:44

I'm 8 weeks today which feels slightly like getting somewhere. Seeing the midwife tomorrow.
My first pregnancy miscarried at 8+3 so this week will be a bit anxious (though we knew it was all going wrong then anyway)

I'm also analysing everything. Feel less sick and boobs less sore...
We're going away on Sunday for a couple of nights for my son's birthday so that will help a bit hopefully :)

MomoTheLemur · 28/08/2018 08:57

@Treaclepie19 I'm 8+3 today... Though feel like maybe I ovulated later in cycle... Who knows. Also feeling a touch nervous, my first pregnancy, but my mum when trying for baby number 1, had 2MCs before having success, both were around the 8/9 week mark. Rock on 2nd trimester!!! 😐

Treaclepie19 · 28/08/2018 09:02

Definitely @MomoTheLemur, I hate this constant wondering and not really being able to talk about it.
Currently trying to do some bits around the house to keep me busy.

TheMagicTorch · 28/08/2018 10:48

Another boob-poker here too 🤣 @littleemma1 @shamofamockery @Ymamiss

I keep thinking mine feel okay, then I take my bra off and they feel so heavy!!

My nausea is terrible now that I've hit 6w +, I feel sick until I eat something - feel better for 5 minutes then feel queasy again 😐

Early scan on Sunday, just hope it goes well. Should be 7+1 I think so should be able to see a heartbeat.

@Amyrhodes we've got our early scans on the same day and our first appointment with the midwife on the same day 🤣 think you're a week ahead of me on dates though.

monkerina · 28/08/2018 11:12

Yep constant assessment of symptoms going on here too, I might have made a tracker comparing all my symptoms for every day of every pregnancy so far Blush boobs really not hurting this time (or last) though! Past the point of failure with mc 1&2, just got to get through another 4.5 weeks to get past mc3.

Good luck to those with scans coming up, have just been casually browsing our local private scan place...

italianwifey · 28/08/2018 11:50

I’m awful with this too! Can’t bear it if my symptoms subside a little then am cursing myself later when feeling so sick!
@themagictorch I’m the same I think, feel generally queasy constantly.... the thought of any food turns my stomach but if I manage to force it down seems to provide a little bit of relief.
Has anyone else’s hips been hurting, walking up stairs or lying in bed at night? I’m not sure if it’s pregnancy related or not!

shamofamockery · 28/08/2018 12:10

Feeling very, very sick and tired today. Have had to take a day off of work as was puking all night and got no sleep at all. Struggling to move! Really hoping for a good nights sleep tonight so I'm back to form tomorrow!!

MigMog · 28/08/2018 12:18

@italianwifey totally had the ache joints for the last couple weeks. Hips. Knees. It changes and moves lots over the day. Totally pregnancy. Don't your joints soften and change a little due to hormones.

Also with you all there on symptoms. Week 5 and 6 I had constant irritated stomach and was really tired and couldn't sleep much. Week 7 these have subsided. Less symptoms. For a moment I get worried. But to be honest I'm taking this a day at a time, who knows, in a few days it could be worse again. I can predict it.
