Anyone else?

I have quite long cycles but using OPKs, I have a rough idea of when I ovulated and have just got the faintest of lines. So 30 April or 1 May for me! Eek.

No, @seeingdots, but my hospital is being quite kind to me because of my anxiety. They usually charge for it so I am really grateful that they are waiving that for me. I’m sure in time it will become the standard pregnancy test and the combined blood test will be a thing of the past.

minnierose3 · 05/09/2018 20:15

How are you certain@surfingowl?. Xx

zoClueless · 05/09/2018 20:23

Ladies, we have just found out the house extension we were planning on starting in Feb now can't start til march - there was a mix up and now some other clients are in front of us. I've been so emotional all evening, realistically starting in March will mean that the work is still going on when I'm due. Are we mental to be considering this?
We might have to tell the builder to see if he takes pity and asks the other clients about swapping with us - not ideal as the builder knows family members who don't know the news.

SurfingOwl · 05/09/2018 20:44

It’s just a gut feeling @minnierose3 and I figure I have a 50% chance of being right!

How frustrating @zoClueless and I really hope you get something sorted. How long is the building work likely to last?

minnierose3 · 05/09/2018 20:52

Ahh I've always been wrong before @surfingowl!! Haaha so think I'm expecting blue since i think girl! Feel like s* as I did with my DD!!! but that's pretty much all I'm going on. 😂😂

zoClueless · 05/09/2018 21:01

@SurfingOwl extremely frustrating. The estimates were 8-12 weeks I think. Extension will be 4m out the back. new kitchen in extension, new downstairs loo in some of the space where kitchen currently is meaning some new internal walls need to go in downstairs. Upstairs not being effected - the original plan was to also redecorate the hallway, stairs and landing but this could wait if would make it easier.

seeingdots · 05/09/2018 21:04

That's great your hospital has a flexible approach @SurfingOwl and are going to offer you that peace of mind. I do hope it becomes standard in time everywhere.

That's so disappointing for you @zoClueless. Tbh in your position I would get a different contractor that can do the work earlier or put it off if possible. Do you need that space for the baby coming?

SurfingOwl · 05/09/2018 21:10

We’ll have to look back on this in May and see whether we were right @minnierose3 Grin

That sounds a huge amount of work @zoClueless but it sounds like it will give you loads more space afterwards. I really hope you can get it done soon.

They are being really good @seeingdots and I do appreciate it.

If anyone else would like to join the secret Facebook group, just send me a message when the email address you use to log into FB and I’ll send you the link. Smile

zoClueless · 05/09/2018 21:21

It'll be great for extra space when it's done - downstairs loo will be useful I imagine! The extra space downstairs will also mean that we can move some of the stuff that's in the room which will be he baby's downstairs.

Think DH will have to have an honest convo with builder and stress that no family know yet to see what he thinks about how it'll work with a newborn around.

I can't work out whether we would be better just getting on with it or waiting - better to have started it already when pregnant so less time with building work ongoing after baby or delaying til summer but having the full lot of working going on with still a baby in the house so impacting us for longer

rosettesforjill · 05/09/2018 21:49

@zoClueless oh no, what a nightmare! We've got an extension planned to start at the end of this month and I'm stressed enough about that being done in time. Hope something can be sorted!

UntilTheVeryEnd · 05/09/2018 21:49

@zoClueless it’s a tough situation! From my very recent experience of a 2 storey extension which ever option has its good an bad points.
We exactly the same as you had a start date of Feb which ended up March due to weather. We moved in 4 week ago but the upstairs is far from finished. This extension was done with two small children running around- I swear to god the muck it causes is just unreal.
If it was me I would be inclined to get as much as humanly possible done before baby arrives. I don’t think completing the job with a new born would be an easy feat but it is not easy doing it with toddlers. Newborns are happily contained, toddlers are not!
Genuinely don’t think telling the contractors will make them come sooner. But worth a shot if nothing else x

Starmist · 06/09/2018 05:19

@positivepineapple I’m really pleased your scan went well, that’s such great news.

There’s a clinic that my friend recommended & early scans there are £65 so not too bad. It’s an hour away though but it’ll be worth the trip. There’s one in town but that’s £99 & I’ve not heard good reviews about it.

We found out last time because I was desperate to know. DH didn’t want to know so as a compromise we found out but pretended to everyone that we didn’t know. Doing that actually wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. This time in a way I’d prefer not to know as I feel like the surprise would be lovely & something we’ve not experienced but DH really wants to find out this time & I’m pretty impatient anyway! We’ll have to tell people if we find out though because there’s no way they’ll believe we don’t know this time around!

earlybirdhasanap · 06/09/2018 07:09

Argh. Has anyone else got really bad insomnia? I've been wide awake early hours for a week now. My daughter im has been up since about 5 minutes after I fell back asleep. Today is going to be a very long day.

tinyradish · 06/09/2018 07:11

We will find out too :)

Wow, just spent the entire night awake feeling sick, heaving, going to the toilet & occasionally actually throwing up. What an experience. Definitely no work for me today (which I feel terrible about as we're short of people at & it puts pressure on who's left but what can you do??)

DesertBOO · 06/09/2018 07:26

Thanks @zoClueless and @Shazafied - I had HCG measured yesterday at it was in high range so all good, cramps not to be concerned about.

I'm going to try and hold out for a surprise.....I'm not very patient though........! I do have a sort of feeling it's a girl.....no real reason and tbh based on probably conception date (and if the Shettles method holds any truth) it's more likely a boy

zoClueless · 06/09/2018 08:03

Thanks for your insights everyone. I think what we are going to do it wait until after my early scan on 25th. I'll be 8+6 then. And all being well we'll call the builder then and see what he thinks about starting in March v delaying til Aug/Sept (that way I'll still have a young baby who be kept in one room but won't have the stress of it all going on when just given birth). So disappointing as it was all working out perfectly with timings originally.

mayago · 06/09/2018 09:30

Sorry you've had a rough night @tinyradish

Early scans can be so expensive! There's one I've seen for £79, but it's only 5 minutes scan time. Locally is £90, and there's one for £49 on Groupon, but it's an hour and a half away. I'm afraid to book the one further away as there's always a chance you'd have to go back if a heartbeat isn't visible yet. Not sure what to do! OH is happy to wait for the 12 week one. I am not!!

Starmist · 06/09/2018 10:04

Anyone else got really bad heartburn?

Sorry you’ve been feeling so sick @tinyradish, hope you feel better today after some rest. Don’t worry about work, they’ll survive, you need to look after yourself

UntilTheVeryEnd · 06/09/2018 10:26

Sorry you’re feeling shitty @tinyradish a day of work can’t be helped in these circumstances!

@starmist I’m with you with heartburn... I phoned the GP yesterday and got a prescription for dual action gaviscon. You don’t have to suffer - unfortunately it can last from start to finish, mine does!

I’m feeling all the guilts today - it’s half 10 and neither me or the kids are dressed, the kitchen looks like a bombs hit and I’ve had CBeebies on since they got up! I just feel so sick if I stand up and just feel exhausted. I know it won’t hurt them but my god I’m feeling all the guilts Sad

rosettesforjill · 06/09/2018 10:54

I wouldn't worry about it @UntilTheVeryEnd - bet your DC are loving it Grin

I had a mini breakdown last night because DS was being so difficult at bath time - he had a massive tantrum about me taking his clothes off and started hitting and biting me so I ended up telling him he couldn't have any bedtime stories - then I couldn't follow through with it when I saw his little face in his bed 😂 No idea how I'm going to cope with two!

Starmist · 06/09/2018 11:09

@untiltheveryend ah that’s great I’ll ask the doctor when I go, I’d just assume it was another thing we couldn’t take anything for. I never got heartburn last time so it’s new to me. Don’t feel guilty about the kids I bet they’re loving watching telly.

@rosettesforjill oh I feel like this sometimes too, how will we manage with 2 of them! I’m excited to see them playing together though, that’ll be lovely

tinyradish · 06/09/2018 11:21

Thank you everyone - weirdly it's passed a lot now & managed to eat some breakfast/move etc which is always nice Grin

@untiltheveryend no way should you feel guilty! Bet they're having a great time & you need to rest!

SurfingOwl · 06/09/2018 12:16

I’m suffering with heartburn and have had to take omeprazole a couple of times already.

This morning has already been really busy and lasted 24 hours! Now I need to do a whole load of speedy housework before visitors come round this afternoon. I’d much rather be having a nap!

Excitingthingsahead · 06/09/2018 13:52

I'm going to have to leave this group as I've had another chemical pregnancy. All test I've done the past two days have gotten lighter and lighter.

I wish the rest of you good luck on your pregnancy and enjoy it :)

rosettesforjill · 06/09/2018 14:10

Really sorry to hear that @Excitingthingsahead x

@zoClueless we are now in the same boat as you - builder has just called to say he now can't start until January and the project is expected to take 5 months... due date is 1st May 😭😭😭

We have to move out as well for part of it and I am not happy about having to do that with a newborn!
