Anyone else?

I have quite long cycles but using OPKs, I have a rough idea of when I ovulated and have just got the faintest of lines. So 30 April or 1 May for me! Eek.

Starmist · 06/09/2018 15:23

Really sorry to hear that @excitingtimesahead please take care of yourself xx

Excitingthingsahead · 06/09/2018 15:29

I hope so too :) I always think of its meant to be it'll be. Got a lovely weekend away with my partner this weekend so I can relax and try again x

MimiSunshine · 06/09/2018 15:44

Lots of love and luck for the future @Exitingthingsahead xx

For those planning building work, in all honesty I’d say push ahead as much as you can before birth.
Nothing gives builders and plumbers etc an incentive like a heavily pregnant woman they fear could end up midwifing for.

Plus the weather will (hopefully) be nice and once you’re on your feet you can get out of the house as much as possible for hopefully what are just the last fittings / decorating bits.

Where as delaying until the end of summer into autumn means the weather on the turn and dust everywhere, getting on everything (it just does and will travel to all rooms)

rosettesforjill · 06/09/2018 16:03

@MimiSunshine I'm coming round to that way of thinking - the main issue is that we'll be moving the staircase and so we'll have to move out for a bit... although I guess newborns are portable! Potentially scuppers any home birth plans though Sad

tinyradish · 06/09/2018 16:11

So sorry @excitingthingsahead - take care of yourself xx

Happysbno4 · 06/09/2018 16:28

Great day here. I've just been told that if I don't attend a managers meeting in Spain on 20th I can kiss goodbye to my job. Given I had a MMC in May at 9 weeks after flying at 7 weeks I feel I need to now chose between my pregnancy and my job.

MimiSunshine · 06/09/2018 17:09

@Happysbno4 is international travel part of your job description?

Regardless getbon the phone to ACAS and speak to them. See if disclosing a pregnancy would get you out of it even if it’s a contracted requirement.

If it’s not in your contract then see what you need to do to hold them off until you’re ready to disclose but if they’re already saying it’s a do it or be fired approach then be prepared for this to be a black mark against you that won’t go away so you may want to disclose now anyway in order to get yourself some extra protection.

Unfortunately I know from experience that company’s can and will screw you over

UntilTheVeryEnd · 06/09/2018 17:22

@excitingthingsahead take care and be kind to yourself Flowers

@Happysbno4 you need to inform your boss of your pregnancy. Mothers are highly protected in the work place - he cannot fire you for refusing if you have a pregnancy related reason not to go. Go straight to your GP and get a note. If he tries to put pressure on you about the safety of your job you can report him to HR x

positivepineapple · 06/09/2018 18:09

So so sorry to hear this @Excitingthingsahead xx

seeingdots · 06/09/2018 19:03

@Excitingthingsahead, so sorry to hear that. Take good care of yourself and wishing you all the best for next time. My granny used to say "what's for ye'll no go past ye", and I do think that's pretty true. Thanks

Nulanoo · 06/09/2018 19:20

Hi tentatively joining after doing 3 positive tests this week. Think I’m due around 16th May. Will be our third, we have a boy 4 and a girl almost 3

Firstbornunicorn · 06/09/2018 19:30

@excitingthingahead, so sorry to hear that. Make sure you look after yourself

Firstbornunicorn · 06/09/2018 19:32

@happysbno4, you don't have to go, but you might have to disclose your pregnancy. I should have a copy of ACAS somewhere, I'll see if I can find the bit a about expectant mothers

Firstbornunicorn · 06/09/2018 19:34

Is anyone else finding the anxiety of not knowing what's going on in there is driving them batty?!?

I've had bad abdominal pains all day, and although they felt exactly like the IBS pains I've known and loved for 15 years, I still spend the whole day panicking that something was going to happen to baby.

Still haven't even reached the 6 week mark... Time is moving so slowly.

Happysbno4 · 06/09/2018 19:56

@firstbornunicorn thank you that really kind of you. I'm going to speak to someone tommrow thinking acas or citizens advice. I feel i like they have been trying to force me out of my role since my miscarriage in May. I'm feeling so anxious.

Happysbno4 · 06/09/2018 20:00

@mimisunshine that is exactly what's happened since my misscarrage in May.

Its exhausting to dealing with this...just feel like crying.

zoClueless · 06/09/2018 20:01

Sorry to hear your update @Excitingthingsahead I hope you are back on one of these threads soon

@MimiSunshine hmm, that is a good point. We were leaning towards putting it off til August but now I'm just not sure! We have a few weeks til our early scan and think we'll stick with waiting til then to make a decision, just in case it's not good news.
@rosettesforjill sorry your build has been delayed too!

MimiSunshine · 06/09/2018 20:37

@Happysbno4 I have been in a similar situation.

It’s horrible knowing they want you out (I quite frankly can not wait to announce this pregnancy 🤞🏼to the fuckers 🖕🏻).

Take advice and do what’s best for you, personally if at all worried they were going to go for a breach of contract or something I’d tell them now that I was pregnant. Not ideal but the extra protection would outweigh the privacy etc

MimiSunshine · 06/09/2018 20:44

@zoClueless I can’t remember if this is your first baby or not. All I can say is that when I had my first I honestly would have rather had a few more weeks of disruption after she was born than know I had absolute upheaval coming my way for who knows how long when she was a few months old and we were starting to have the playmat out all the time and toys etc plus the ability to put little fists and anything else she could gum in her mouth.

Newborns literally need a bed, clothes and milk. If you breastfeed that’s even easier as you can decamp to an air b&b for a short while which basically two large bags of essentials

SurfingOwl · 06/09/2018 21:08

I’m sorry @Excitingthingsahead

@Happysbno4 have you told work you are pregnant yet? As soon as you do, you are protected against maternity discrimination and a risk assessment needs to be carried out to make sure your working conditions are suitable.

I think I would prefer the upheaval of building works with a newborn to babies who are more awake or on the move. Hopefully all the building issues are resolved and the work carried out quickly.

How is everyone today?

MrsReader · 06/09/2018 22:01

Hi @SurfingOwl, I'm good apart from not feeling any symptoms! I feel like I'll be reassured when I get nausea Confused

How are you?

Curlylemon · 06/09/2018 22:07

Hi all, I've been lurking a while but thought I should say hi. I'm 5+3 today, symptoms coming and going. Mainly tiredness and sore boobs, feel a bit icky occasionally. Total anxiety meltdowns aplenty, I'm my own worst enemy! Time is going soooo slowly, I agree.

UntilTheVeryEnd · 07/09/2018 07:42

Welcome @Curleylemon nice to have you with us Smile

Got a wee bit of good news today - my MW phoned to say that the consultant has approved my early scan so I should get getting a letter to confirm an appointment - thinking the week after next. Not as early but They want to be cautious as my dates are squiffy so that we see a heartbeat. Really excited that it was approved and I don’t have to pay private.

Hope every day a lovely (as much as possible) day xx
