Honestly in the first trimester apart from folic acid and vit D I wouldn't worry about the other vitamins, when things settle in T2 you can worry about the others then. I know iron can contribute to constipation so if you're not anaemic then you might want to drop anything that contains that for a bit.

cardboard33 · 17/08/2018 11:04

I'm not taking anything other than vit D and folic acid (5mg) as we've seen lots of people whilst TTC and had a lot of blood taken etc and every time I've asked if I should be taking anything else I've been told no but I can do if it will make me feel better... So I'm just not bothering. I'm 8 weeks and have been fine so far. This week I feel positively not pregnant.

We got 2 photos for free at our early scan in the EPU and then the letter we've had with the 12 week scan details said you can pay £5 for 2 photos. This is SW London.

toastfiend · 17/08/2018 11:23

@TheOneWithTheBaby I had exactly the same problem for a few weeks. Constipation followed by diarrhoea in a cycle. Really unpleasant. I found fresh orange juice helped a little, snacking on dried fruit and getting out walking as much as possible. Nothing solved it completely though, but it went by itself when I hit about 11 weeks and I'm 'back to normal' now, thank God. Its horrible whilst it's ongoing, you have my sympathies!

LittleKitty1985 · 17/08/2018 12:00

I'm having horrible constipation and bloating too, probably because of how much pizza I've been eating! & also probably because of the iron tablets I've been taking because of being vegetarian.

It's not all bad though, the other day I was standing on a busy train rubbing my belly (& letting it all hang out if you know what I mean) and someone gave me their seat! Pregnancy win! GrinBlush

TheOneWithTheBaby · 17/08/2018 12:20

Thanks again everyone! I'm sorry to basically have taken over his thread with my poo issues Blush

I have separate folic Acid pills anyway. I don't have any vitamin d ones though. I wk def whether I could get away without taking them for 5 days as I'm currently in Cyprus. Natural vitamin D? Don't want to risk anything though obviously.

@toastfiend sorry to hear you had the same issues. So reassuring to hear it went away! I am 8+6 today so hopefully not too long to go.

Shampooeeee · 17/08/2018 12:31

You should be fine for Vit D in Cyrus. Just be sure to get outside without suncream on for a little while each day (morning or late afternoon so you don’t get burnt).

TheOneWithTheBaby · 17/08/2018 12:33

Thank you so much @Shampooeeee. I might just do that. We're home early enough on Wednesday for me to then get vitamin d tablets from Sainsbury in the evening. So it would only be 5 days over all. I'll see how I feel today after my load of fruit and juice and movement.

melissa112 · 17/08/2018 12:53

Hi all, I'm jumping over from the other thread. I'm currently 9+5, no previous children but my partner has a 9 year old son from a previous relationship who I love vert much.

For the last 4 weeks all I feel I've done is be sick, cry, feel sick, and cry some more! How are you all coping with the morning (all day) sickness? Is anyone starting to feel better yet?

I'm just wondering if anyone had any advice as to when we should tell my partners son. I've had 2 early scans already due to bad one sided pain early on, the last one when I was 7+3 and we saw baby's heartbeat. I'd love to book in for a reassurance scan this weekend but we have my step son for the next two weeks and so he'd have to come with us. I'd be 10 weeks when we have the scan, do you think this is too early?

Murphyrocks · 17/08/2018 13:26

Hi @Melissa112, welcome! Sounds a similar situation to me 2 years ago, my stepson was 9 when I was pregnant with our first, my current DS who just turned 2. That time we didn't tell him until after the 12 week scan, I didn't feel too bad so it was easier to hide, but this time we told him after the 8 week viability scan we paid for as he's a bit older and can understand better, plus I've had such a rough first trimester we wanted him to understand why I'm being a bit rubbish! Really depends on maturity levels and what you feel is best, but that's how we played it. Happy to chat through further on PM if you'd like as the situations are quite similar!

Got my 12 week scan on Wednesday, currently 11+4, and touch wood I've been feeling much better the last week or so with just some occasional nausea (after being signed off work at 6 weeks with HG and fainting) and some residual tiredness. Hope you start to feel better soon too!

Velcro88 · 17/08/2018 14:49

Wow sounds like my Trust is way more expensive! That's shocking. Will see what I get but the letter does elude to just 'a photograph' so probably the same one image as you guys seem to get a few a few quid. I know they've got to make money where they can but this seems a bit much... especially when you could take a snap on your phone for free... sigh. Guess they see us coming eh!

Olivia2019 · 17/08/2018 16:19

@frenchgal I live in the North East but I will be moving to Germany in 7 weeks Shock

Gronk27 · 17/08/2018 17:38

It's taken me a long time to catch up on all this!

We're on holiday in the Lakes, managed really well with walking and site seeing but I'm in a weird cycle of hunger, nausea and constipation. The joy!

I've finally crashed and just had a two hour nap.

I already look pregnant and I'm only 9+6! Really bloated. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

Nightmanagerfan · 17/08/2018 18:03

Just caught up too. @gronk27 I’m 9 weeks today and so bloated by the end of the day that I have to undo my trousers. It must all be bloat/wind though (sorry if TMI but my digestive system has been on overdrive for weeks!)

Sorry some of you are still being so sick. I seem to be able to avoid vomiting if I eat every three hours - carbs are best -but I’m getting bored of toast/crackers/pasta now.

Booking appointment tomorrow morning so will be good to get that out of the way!

Gronk27 · 17/08/2018 18:24

@Nightmanagerfan I'm also eating every 2 hours to stop feeling icky and eating mostly beige.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 17/08/2018 18:25

All went wl at booking in. Will have extra scans at 28, 32 & 34 weeks because DS was small for dates. Now just waiting for the letter for our 12 week scan!

HidCat · 17/08/2018 18:33

Just had the first evening meal I could manage in about 4 days. I really hope this is the sickness easing. Guess I'll find out when I try to brush my teeth.

My scan letter doesn't say anything about the cost of pictures. May need to call my midwife to check so I know I have enough money on me.

Gronk27 · 17/08/2018 18:37

@hidcat I struggle to brush my teeth anyway but it's been ridiculous.

TeaRexx · 17/08/2018 18:43

Checking in and catching up on posts after a few days! 8 weeks today Smile

I completely empathise with the heightened sense of smell.... it’s like a superpower! I had to turn my glade air freshener off because it was so strong but I swear I can still smell it Confused

Nausea is still being a bugger but managing to eat slightly more now which is a big relief.
I treated myself to a subway today and it was so good!

BadBadBeans · 17/08/2018 19:01

@Velcro88 with DS we were supposed to be charged £10 for four photos - no option to get fewer as I remember. At the 20 week scan though they gave me six and didn't charge me. They had found something during the scan that meant a referral to a consultant - I cried in the car on the way home as I thought they were being kind and giving me free photos because there was something seriously wrong. DH then informed me they had actually just run out of receipts! DS was fine...

I have been feeling so frumpy and grumpy about my appearance recently that I have booked myself in for a good haircut and promised myself to squander one of DS's nursery days shopping for clothes and shoes. Most of my wardrobe is second hand and always has been, and DH owns more shoes than I do, and my maternity gear from last time was mostly cast offs from friends and colleagues. If my scan is okay the week after next then I'm going to treat myself to some decent maternity clothes for autumn/ winter. If it's not okay then I shall be buying some decent non maternity clothes! Can't walk around looking like an urchin any longer... I have spent next to no time on my personal appearance since having DS - working from home doesn't help - but I am resolved to make a change!

Jenlou1992 · 17/08/2018 19:17

I'm with you on feeling crap about myself . Some days jeans wont fit. I'm so scared to get weighed on my next app . Because weight has always been a massive thing for me and I can see it really effecting me. I'm getting some twinge s in my tummy . I have DTD with OH today . Second time since positive test and I am feeling a bit paranoid . My scan isn't till the 6th Sep which from LMP makes me 13 weeks. So not fair . I didn't want to get an early scan but I might do because don't want to wait any longer .

Was saying to OH I am the only one who says I'm pregnant . Till that scan nothing is real 😩

Wineandchoccy · 17/08/2018 19:44

@SquirtlesMumAgain Glad everything went ok, what did ds weigh? Good you will get extra scans x

fanks · 17/08/2018 20:07

Bit of a weird question but has anyone experienced a buzzing feeling Down below?? Sounds really odd but I keep getting it!

Going for scan tomorrow at 8 weeks so scared as I miscarried last time at this point.

@TheOneWithTheBaby roasted veg especially onions helps me when I'm constipated

Wineandchoccy · 17/08/2018 20:08

fanks I keep feeling something but even though it is my second I’m sure it’s to early

Gronk27 · 17/08/2018 22:02

Are mouth sores/ulcers a pregnancy thing?

Have a lot of you paid for early scans then? I've still got to wait two weeks finding it hard being in a sort of 'limbo'.

frenchgal · 17/08/2018 22:16

@Gronk27 I did at 7 weeks and it was the best 90 pounds I spent this year.

Also got another scan with the panorama but I understand not everyone wants to spend 500 pounds for that one.
