@Velcro88 what a beautiful place to conceive a baby!

Wineandchoccy · 16/08/2018 19:15

@Welshgal18 Im not sure mine has my age but not my date of birth. Must be different information that each hospital inputs on the computer

cardboard33 · 16/08/2018 20:39

@bluebelltulip @badbadbeans thanks, I hope you're right!! They already have so much of my blood... I'd never had blood taken until 3 years ago and now I'm a complete pro but as my hands are always freezing it's always so funny watching people attempt to find a vein. I think I've already met the specialist midwife as she's teamed up with my epilepsy nurse who knew we were ttc so added me to her expectant mums appointments as then the link midwife is there too. I had an early scan due to aforementioned health and they gave me a form to fill out that had a really really small box for medical history and then another small box for previous operations. My husband was like they've seen your notes, do they honestly think you're going to fit it all in there?! It was barely big enough to write N/A in let alone anything else.

That said my neuro-oncologist is basically like you're just another woman having a baby and chances are if they didn't already know then they wouldn't know that anything was "wrong" with you but because they do know they'll make a lot of assumptions that aren't right for your situation. He's warned us that the maternity people will likely make a massive deal out of everything because I'm automatically deemed high risk and say things like I must have a C section. I've already kind of noticed this as the day after I was referred by my GP (as urgent...) they phoned to book me in for an early scan and then they phoned the next day trying to book me in to see the specialist midwife a few days later, but we were on holiday so tomorrow is the next available appointment that suited everyone. I imagine the whole pregnancy is going to be like this, which is a bit annoying given I literally am a completely standard woman, it's just I will also be having chemo whilst on maternity leave but again, that's not exactly uncommon either. That said I'd rather they go over board then under board I suppose!!

cardboard33 · 16/08/2018 20:47

Also, meant to add - we've also not had much sex recently so it's good to know others feel the same. We have had loads on which has meant we've both been tired all of the time, whereas when we were trying we kinda treated like life admin that just had to be done when I was in my fertile period and we were both tired.

wordsmithereens · 16/08/2018 22:36

Just checking in - here I was like an idiot refreshing the old thread and wondering why nobody was posting. D'oh. Bit of an eventful week, too knackered to fill in at present.

Jadeelx · 16/08/2018 22:46

Checking in! Am 8+4 today. Feel like time is going pretty quickly. Getting fed up of dull nauseous feeling daily 😪

toastfiend · 16/08/2018 22:59

Reassured to hear lots of others are in the same boat DTD wise! I think we've managed it about twice since finding out. It just doesn't feel very comfortable at the moment and we're both so worried about causing the bleeding I had earlier in the pregnancy to start again that we've been avoiding it. Hoping the second trimester will see a return to normal.

I'm definitely feeling "heavier" today. I've only put on about a lb in total so it's not that, but I'm not able to hold in my stomach any more and today I really feel like my belly has "popped out". We made it more public after the scan the other day and lots of people have commented on my "bump" already. I'm only 11 + 5 and it's my first pregnancy and my core is pretty strong as I do lots of riding and was in the gym a lot before getting pregnant and feeling rubbish all the time do I thought it would be ages until any hint of a bump showed up! Confused I had the first person rub my tummy today. I didn't think this happened until much later in pregnancy?! It was meant in a nice way but it made me cringe a bit. I'm not very touchy freely or huggy at all, so it was a bit much for me. I'm going to get some kind of sign for later in pregnancy I think!

TheOneWithTheBaby · 16/08/2018 23:10

Just trying to catch up on everyone's news.

Wow for the twin news! I am not surprised it's a shock but you will manage!

Love the 12 week scans, the babies look like people in them.

I am massive at the moment but I'm wondering whether ....TMI alert .... this is constipation related. I just can't go for days and then suddenly develop the opposite problem for a few hours. I drink fruit juice and eat cereal but I have to be honest and say my diet is rather beige at the moment as I can't stomach much else. I do eat fruit though and hoped that would help but I now haven't been for 3 days again.

Velcro88 · 17/08/2018 07:38

@TheOneWithTheBaby you need prune juice! Honestly, just a small glass got things moving for me when I was really struggling! Good luck, that sounds desperately uncomfortable.

@Funnybunnyfluff @LittleKitty1985 @Marmite2018 thanks for the holiday tips! Will have a look today to see what's left in those places and how much things are and see where I get to!

Velcro88 · 17/08/2018 07:42

P.s. just out of interest, for those who have had 12 week nhs scans, how much did you have to pay for the picture? Our trust charges £15 - and they explicitly say that we can't take pics from the screen, but I'm still going to ask! I want a vid! Might be ok if we still spend the money for the print out. Seems so mean!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 17/08/2018 07:50

Wow £15 is a lot - I think we paid £4 but that was in 2015. How can they justify so much!!!

Booking in appointment today, and massive cramping again. Hope it's just stretching this time

TheOneWithTheBaby · 17/08/2018 07:52

@Velcro88, thank you! I am on holiday just now but will try it when I'm back home. Seriously, I can't go for ages and then have such bad cramps and the opposite problem-for hours. Meant to go on a trip tomorrow but if I can't poo today I can't risk it as I might then have to go during the trip.... Had some fresh orange juice on an empty stomach today. I hope that gets things moving a bit.

In regards to the photos, ours charges £3 per picture but you have to buy a minimum of 2. £15 is loads!

HidCat · 17/08/2018 08:14

@toastfiend wow that is really early. I've been lucky in the past not to experience the uninvited tummy grab but it's something I wouldn't enjoy and I am a hug person.

@TheOneWithTheBaby I've had the same problem. It's easing a little now and the bloating isn't as bad at present but I know that could all change again in a heartbeat.

@Velcro88 £15! I'd want a video too at that price. Mine was £2 per pic last time so expecting it to be £3 or £4 this time but they did only offer one image so if you get multiple different images then maybe £15 isn't so bad.

Murphyrocks · 17/08/2018 08:54

@Velcro88 £15 is crazy! I got a set of 3 pics last time, can't remember exactly how much it was but definitely wasn't into double figures! Definitely push for taking a video if you're paying that!

Wineandchoccy · 17/08/2018 09:31

@Velcro88 ours are £5 per photo I bought 4 yesterday 1 to put in a frame, 1 for the baby book that I won’t have time to fill in poor deglected 2nd child, 1 for my my parents and 1 for mil

Wineandchoccy · 17/08/2018 09:32

It was also the same price when I had scans in 2014 I was surprised they hadn’t gone up

Wineandchoccy · 17/08/2018 09:33

@TheOneWithTheBaby I second the prune juice or fresh orange juice.

Wineandchoccy · 17/08/2018 09:34

I must look pregnant today a nursery mum said congratulations to me this morning Shock

Murphyrocks · 17/08/2018 09:42

@Wineandchoccy I know what you mean - went out for lunch when my parents and DS the other day and 2 other Mums asked when I was due! Didn't have strangers aware I was pregnant until about 5 months last time!

Wineandchoccy · 17/08/2018 09:48

It’s weird feels like I’m public property already

sherbertdibdab · 17/08/2018 10:18

Today I threw up my nice healthy melon but have kept down the bacon sandwich, who am I to argue with my body!
Think it was £10 for pictures last time for me and we were given 4. Though I have a feeling the machine to get the voucher to exchange for pictures was broken so we didn't pay for them in the end!

TheOneWithTheBaby · 17/08/2018 10:26

@sherbertdibdab, my body is rejecting a lot of stuff at the moment. Meat is definitely trickier for me at the moment for example. I wouldn't worry too much at this stage.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I don't think I can get prune juice while on holiday here unfortunately. I will try some more fruit and swimming today and hopefully it will help. I have considered going to the pharmacy and asking them for something, but worried as I sometimes get diarrhoea after my constipation. I'd like a nice medium please lol. Pregnancy is not very glamurous, is it?

sherbertdibdab · 17/08/2018 10:34

Thanks @TheOneWithTheBaby, I'm not worried to be honest, I'll take any excuse to eat a bit of junk food! Hope you feel a bit better soon, you could ask the pharmacist for some lactulose I think it's safe in pregnancy (I had it when breastfeeding after DD, as my digestive system went a bit funny post birth last time) it's pretty gentle and might help. Also avoid bananas and eggs that can make things worse but apple juice can be helpful!

TheOneWithTheBaby · 17/08/2018 10:38

@sherbertdibdab thank you!

Definitely no eggs here. They say me next to the omelette station yesterday for breakfast and i almost died haha.
I might see where the pharmacy is and ask if it continues. I do think 4 days is enough.

I have considered the pre natal vitamins. I have a 5mg dose folic Acid pill from GP so all ok there. In addition to that I am taking the seven seas ones and I know they have some iron. Can I get away with just folic Acid for a few days? Back home on Wednesday evening. Are there other vitamins I might be missing out on though?

VillageFete · 17/08/2018 10:44

Just seen my baby! Very cute, and a nice strong heartbeat. I am 7 weeks 4 days today.

I feel like shit majority of the time. No vomiting, but just a sick and weak feeling. No food is appealing today.

In terms of vitamins, I cannot bare the pregnacare ones any more. They are huge and make me feel sick. I think i’m just going to take my folic acid and Vit D.
