All these lovely scans 😍 can't wait for mine tomorrow!! Off to the hospital now to see the haematologist again for some blood tests to check and see if my platelet count has gone up at all so keeping my fingers crossed for that!!
We've had a busy week, and have a busy weekend coming up, I feel like I need a day on the sofa but I'm at the hospital today and tomorrow!!
Never mind, needs must, so long as baby is ok!

Xxx

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 30/08/2018 14:40

Looking for a little bit of advice please.
I'm going on my hen do in 2 weekends time. No one knows about the pregnancy yet (except my mum and MIL).
I don't know whether or not to tell everyone that's coming on the hen do that I'm pregnant or whether to just pretend to drink. We're going to Spain from Saturday to Tuesday so it's quite a long time to get away with pretending. I also usually drink quite a bit when I'm out (I'm not an alcoholic, I swear!) so would be obvious if I abstain.
What would any of you do?

wordsmithereens · 30/08/2018 14:56

Lovely scan pics @Marmite2018 and @Gronk27. :D
@toastfiend, glad the GP appointment was helpful.

Welcome to any newbies as well. :)

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever, what would make you more comfortable? (And how far along are you?) We decided to tell a few people ahead of 12 weeks, and my general rule was that they were all people I could trust to be supportive if something went wrong - so in that sense it actually took a lot of pressure off. But I'm also someone who really likes to talk difficulties through when they happen. My husband didn't tell anyone before 12 weeks except family (and he probably wouldn't have minded keeping them in the dark for longer either), but he's not a very shary person in general.

So in your situation, if you think it's likely that people will suspect - would you find it more stressful pretending, and wondering what people might be thinking? Or would you find it more stressful to not have your privacy at this stage? There's no right or wrong answer, just what works for you (and OH).

Funnybunnyfluff · 30/08/2018 14:58

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever
How many weeks are you?
Are you to early to tell people.

I'm at a wedding tomorrow and not drinking it's going to be so hard to disguise. (Being a drinker)

I don't think you will get away with 3/4 days. In 2 weeks will you be able to tell people a day or so before you fly?

Could you pretend to be in medication for something? If not I think I would tell them.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 30/08/2018 15:04

I have my 12 week scan the day before we fly so there should be no reason not to tell them. It's more of a family thing anyway to be honest. I've only got 3 friends coming, all of whom I would tell soon afterwards. I'm just a bit worried that they've paid quite a bit of money to come and are looking forward to a boozy weekend. I just don't want them to feel like I've misled them or that they've wasted their money!

Angelmiracle · 30/08/2018 15:10

@Gronk27 such a cute scan pic!

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I would tell them after the scan they'll prob just be really surprised!! I'm sure they'll all do plenty of drinking any way - I don't drink at all but everyone else on my hen do drank loads lol.

wordsmithereens · 30/08/2018 15:25

I'd tell them after the scan as well then. You'll be able to chill, and nothing stops them from drinking as Angelmiracle says.

melissa112 · 30/08/2018 15:25

@Marmite2018 @Gronk27 congrats on the lovely scan pics!

@PurpleFlower1983 great news on the screening results!

@Starheart glad all was well with your scan Smile

@MrsLCW good luck with the blood tests today and bet you can't wait for the scan Smile

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I think if I were you I would tell them too as you'll have had your scan and especially as it's a lot of family and friends who would find out soon

melissa112 · 30/08/2018 15:32

Had our scan and the blood taken for the NIPT. We have our NHS dating scan next Friday. Baby measuring at 11+5 so one day ahead. I'm so gutted my OH is away and missed it. i got the appointment last minute but at least he'll be here for next week I suppose.

Have very wriggly baby. Saw hands, feet, nose etc and heard the heartbeat. The nuchal measurement looks good and classed as low risk based on scan alone but need to wait for bloods. I'm so in love already!

MistakenHoliday · 30/08/2018 15:53

@toastfiend same here! I'm going to have to go to the stretchy waistband ASAP.

sunnywithachanceofpanic · 30/08/2018 16:06

HELLOOOOO! Fellow marchers, how is everyone feeling? I finally feel confident enough to join. Had my scan Tuesday and everything looks good so far, due date of 5/03. Had a previous loss in February so the scan was a very tense time. Can't wait to share this journey with everyone.

Velcro88 · 30/08/2018 16:10

Lovely scans guys! Amazing to see them all, it's lovely!

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever personally if all good at the 12 week scan I'd be telling them - sounds like they're likely to be your support network if anything did go wrong, and I'm sure they're not just there for the booze!! 🙂

Maternity jeans arrived in the post today! I'm not sure if I'm just accommodating my heavy refined carb diet of previous weeks or if there's a little bump buried in there too, but either way they're exceptionally comfortable. Yay!

P.S. I found it really difficult to find any maternity gear on the high st, having to order these online. So I'd say go straight to the internet if anyone's thinking about buying stuff. After Lidl's thing next week of course! Thanks for the heads up...

wordsmithereens · 30/08/2018 16:19

Welcome @sunnywithachanceofpanic! So glad your scan went well and you can now relax a bit. :)

Wineandchoccy · 30/08/2018 16:31

Just a quick reminder to book your flu and whooping cough vaccinations when you can ladies Smile I have just been to the Drs and they reminded me even though I have got mine booked already.
I have just took my daughter for her pre school vaccinations it was awful but all done now and she has just cost me a fortune in the toy shop Grin

Gronk27 · 30/08/2018 17:21

@wineandchoccy do you have to approach Drs about it then rather than other way round?

Wineandchoccy · 30/08/2018 17:26

Here the midwife at booking in and when I had my scan told me to book them in but all areas seem to do things differently so thought I would mention it

HidCat · 30/08/2018 17:50

@Gronk27 and @melissa112 lovely scan pics - I'm so glad everything went well!

@toastfiend I'm glad you're getting everything seen to. I bet your FP was a bit worried there 😆

Our scan went well today too. Another wriggly baby getting into all the ring positions but we got everything done and all is well. Phew!

Jenfur · 30/08/2018 18:57

Congrats on all the lovely scan pics today! I can't wait for mine but still 2 weeks away.
My midwife said they'd sort vaccinations at my next appointment, probably 5 weeks or so away. Funny how things can be so different across the country

melissa112 · 30/08/2018 19:05

@HidCat congrats on your lovely scan pic! Glad all looks good!

Welshgal18 · 30/08/2018 19:17

Hi girls
I’m around 12+2 today, hoping the nausea eases soon i feel at my worst as soon as I wake up.

I’ve got my scan at 9am on Monday Grin. Can anyone tell me if the sonographer asks questions when in the the room, personal information etc.?

Gronk27 · 30/08/2018 19:37

@Welshgal18 they asked me whether I was white British, whether I'd had IVF and whether I was a smoker and then there were a few more questions after the scan with the other midwives.

puravida31 · 30/08/2018 19:37

Lovely scan pictures! Congratulations everyone.

@welshgal18 no they didn’t ask me anything during the scan, all the personal info was done during the booking in appointment with the midwife. Have you had your booking in yet?

ballanj · 30/08/2018 19:58

Hi everyone, it's been a busy but wonderful day. The scan was amazing and we have a very fidgety little monkey who was showing off lots! All appearing well and sobbed with relief when I saw the heartbeat. Totally worth the wait. Did laugh because at one point when the sonographer was trying to take a photo, baby seemed to cover it's eyes like this emoji 🙈 😂
