@BadBadBeans have you chased them up about your scan date? You might be able to request a certain date if they can fit you in. Your DH sounds lovely Smile. Sorry your sickness was bad last night! If bed was what you needed then so be it!

thefirsttimer · 23/08/2018 08:40

Good luck @puravida31 Smile

BadBadBeans · 23/08/2018 08:44

@thefirsttimer I only had my booking appointment on Monday so I don't expect to get a date for another few days. If it comes through for when we're away I'll just have to see what they can do in terms of rescheduling. Not ideal but I suppose it must happen fairly regularly. Yes it was actually very out of character for my husband to do something like that so I'm totally thrilled! We told DS today that we would all be going on a plane and he cried, though 😂 He loves spotting planes in the sky but maybe the idea of going on one is a bit intimidating!

Good luck with your scan @puravida31

TheWanderlust · 23/08/2018 08:46

@BadBadBeans I think I'm next on the scan front after @puravida31 ... scan is tomorrow afternoon when in theory I am 12+3

wordsmithereens · 23/08/2018 08:50

Thanks @BadBadBeans. Hope you get your scan date through soon (maybe a chase would help?). So lovely of your DH to book a surprise holiday though! Sounds like you're doing the right thing in looking after your sickness as well - hope it passes soon.

thefirsttimer · 23/08/2018 08:55

@BadBadBeans ah that makes sense then, hopefully you'll get a bit of luck with the dates 🤞🏼. Bless your DS how old is he? I'm sure the anticipation will be much worse than the reality! And he gets a lovely holiday at the end of it!

Good luck tomorrow @TheWanderlust Smile

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 23/08/2018 09:42

I've got my scan tomorrow at 2.30. All your pictures are making me so excited. Although, I'm still quite apprehensive as I'm convinced they're going to tell me there's nothing there... I was also convinced that I'd be infertile so... Fingers crossed everything turns out okay.

Velcro88 · 23/08/2018 09:44

Good luck all those with scans coming up! Fingers crossed for you @thecherryontop I hope things go smoothly for you today. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Shampooeeee · 23/08/2018 10:17

AssumeItWasSomethingClever I’ve got mine tomorrow too. Scanxiety is kicking in now. I just got a call from the hospital and I’d convinced myself it would be something bad they’d found in my bloods but it was just to confirm the appointment.

wordsmithereens · 23/08/2018 10:22

Fingers crossed for everyone with upcoming scans! I think a bit of scanxiety (love that, Shampooeeee!) is totally normal. Totally got a bit teary when they turned on the screen and I saw blob, myself. :)

puravida31 · 23/08/2018 10:33

Scan went well, it’s such a relief! First time we have seen little pip and it was amazing! Due date has now moved forward to 01/03/19

Velcro88 · 23/08/2018 10:41

Congrats @puravida31! Lovely little profile! Amazing to see what's been going on in there isn't it?

ballanj · 23/08/2018 10:49

@puravida31 lovely scan picture!

I'm really feeling scanxiety this week. I'm just so worried to go in and be told bad news and struggling to feel any excitement at all for it. I think the last couple of weeks have just been hard generally with not telling people and having so much on. Everytime I'm out with people I'm stressing about not saying anything and at the same time I don't want the world to know until we know everything is okay. There's nothing to make me think all won't be well at the scan but I'm half excited and more half dreading it. I think because I've read about MMCs too much this week and have had family/friends this has happened to so it's hard to convince myself that things will go right for me. Has anyone else felt like this?

ladycarlotta · 23/08/2018 11:11

@puravida31 lovely scan! So glad it went well!

@BadbadBeans bless your boy! Hopefully you've got time to prep him about how great it's going to be...

@shampooeeee scanxiety!!

@ballanj, totally - I think lots of us have been braced for bad news, and to be honest I'd almost rather go in feeling as little as possible. I find it terrifying to get excited, because of the risk of it all going wrong (and I'm amazed to have got this far in my pregnancy, I never managed before), but I also kind of feel that you have to risk going into this stuff with your heart open. I'm trying to be pragmatic but also optimistic, if that makes sense? It's a vulnerable time and there's nothing that can change that.

Solidarity and crossed fingers for @thewanderlust @thecherryontop @Assumeitwassomethingclever and everybody else with impending scans.

Gronk27 · 23/08/2018 11:52

Scanxiety-Brilliant.

@ballanj I'm sorry you're feeling that way. I must be stressy I just tend to internalise a lot and then I'm sure I'll have a break down big cry at some point. It being my first and having conceived on the first try I have the luxury(?) of trying to be cest le vie about it all but of course you do start to form an attachment, make plans and start imagining things. I'm trying to remember it's nothing we do, it's just down to nature and therefore out of our control. That's never easy! I know exactly how you feel about telling people. I'm tempted to tell my group of friends at a BBQ on Sat but then if it's bad news do I really want to have to tell them all after. That being said a friend of mine recently had a mortar pregnancy and she's really struggling and I think part of that is no-one at all knew and so she's almost trying to convince everyone that she was pregnant-not that she needs to of course. A week suddenly feels a long time but I'm sure it will start to tick by after today. x

Wineandchoccy · 23/08/2018 12:00

Lovely photo @puravida31

@ballanj I work myself up in such a state before every scan I have unfortunately had bad news at a scan in my 1st pregnancy the risk of mmc is very low so try and not worry I know that is much easier said than done though.

ballanj · 23/08/2018 12:13

@Gronk27 we are exactly the same, this is my first and we fell very quickly literally within the first month. I guess the irrational part of my brain thinks 'why should I have all the luck?' I just need to relax I think. And not read so much on the internet! What time is your scan next week? Mines at 9:40 so at least will have the rest of the day.

Gronk27 · 23/08/2018 12:21

@ballanj it's at 11. Defo stop reading the internet! I have friends who are the entire spectrum from infertile to a new born with downs and the parents had no idea so that gives a bit of perspective as well I think. Rather than luck I try to think it's biology. Try to relax, can you pamper yourself or treat yourself a bit this week? As if we both conceived straight away. I wonder what our due dates will be after scans if all is well!

Funnybunnyfluff · 23/08/2018 12:36

Oh ladies I am the same!

I realised I got my dates wrong after talking to my mum and we fell on our first try 6 days before we got married.

I have friends that have been struggling for 3/4 years going through ivf and I'm scared of my first scan that it can't be this straight forward. I'm 9+4 so have a few weeks to go.

Just typing this on panicked about he first scan.

Your all not alone.

Ps love the lovely scan pics Smile

melissa112 · 23/08/2018 13:01

Has anybody had a private NIPT test? I'm feeling quite paranoid although I guess I've no real need to. I'm 10+6 now and have my booking in appointment on Tuesday but still no scan date as they don't give you one til after the booking in (there was a mix up with the referral which is why it's all so late).

I'm really considering a private NIPT test but not sure on which one to go for. Is Harmony the best? Would the NHS still do their nuchal tests if I'd have a private test? I guess I just want to know the risks as much as I can

cardboard33 · 23/08/2018 13:16

@melissa112 I assume you'd still get everything on the NHS too. Ask how your hospital does their tests though at your booking app, as mine is part of a study pilot where they takes everything for the full tests (so the combined plus reflex etc) from everyone as standard, assuming you wan it. Then they put everyone through the first test and if you come up with high risks they automatically do the second tests and invite you back for the extra samples. If you don't get invited back as you're deemed low risk you can still go private at that stage but the cost will be lower as you've already had some of the tests on NHS and they've already taken the samples needed for the private tests.

BadBadBeans · 23/08/2018 13:18

Beautiful clear scan @puravida31!

@thefirsttimer @ladycarlotta he's just turned 2 and he loves ALL transport so I'm sure if I show him a few videos of people on planes he'll get excited. Maybe he doesn't realise what they're for when he sees them in the sky? It's so hard to know what their little minds have grasped!

@Melissa112 I'm having the Harmony. NHS will still do the nuchal screening. I think the panorama tells you about more conditions including microdeletions, but the extra conditions it covers have a slightly lower rate of accuracy.

My scan date came through - right for the middle of the holiday! I rang them straight away and they've rescheduled for the day before we go away. Less than three weeks to go!

melissa112 · 23/08/2018 13:23

Thanks for the replies Smile I'll speak to the midwife on Tuesday. I just got really paranoid that I'm going to miss the boat for the NHS tests.

@cardboard33 that's great that your hospital will do that with the tests, that sounds really good

@badbadbeans are you having your harmony before the 12 week NHS scan? I guess I've set my mind on having it now and won't know the results before my booking appt but should do before my dating scan

LovelyFishy · 23/08/2018 13:24

ballanj We’re in the same NHS area. Smile With my 1st I’m so sure the scan didn’t take anywhere near as long as everyone else’s seems to have! Either it’s my memory going funny or we have a very efficient trust!

I am also in that stage of afraid to get excited just in case. I remember having this last time too and I now have a beautiful lively toddler running about so you’d have thought I’d’ve learnt for this time but no! My morning sickness is starting to ease up to which is great but not helping paranoia! Bring on the 12 week scan!!

ballanj · 23/08/2018 14:12

@LovelyFishy good to hear from someone in my area!! What is your current due date? Sorry to hear you've been suffering from sickness. I got lucky on that score, as did my sister. Must be a family thing!
