Lovely scans ladies!! One of my friends found out the gender at the 12 week scan which terrified me a little... I thought that wasn't usually until 20 weeks?!

I've spent the day at work listening to people enthusiastically talk about all of the (either alcohol or physical activity or most likely both) related things they want to do for our team away day in October. Due to various things at work (ie: a restructure) I don't want to tell them I'm pregnant until I've either got no choice or its all finalised as I don't want the fact I'm going on mat leave to influence decisions. But I also know that there's no way that I'll be able to do any of the activities they're planning either due to insurance reasons and/or I won't be drinking. But I cant risk telling anyone at work. It's such a difficult situation and one I could be in for several months yet... Maybe I'll just book the day off when they've decided when it is and/or say I've got a medical appointment.

Sophlou · 22/08/2018 18:10

@Jojoevans I've felt awful I've not been back to work since I was 6 weeks I've lost a stone. I'm 13 weeks now and it's getting easier I'm still being sick though. I feel so miserable and then guilty for feeling miserable. I know I should feel happy and lucky to be pregnant. This is my 3rd baby and I wasn't like this with my other 2. Looking forward to leaving this trimester behind.

Sophlou · 22/08/2018 18:22

Also @Jojoevans if your not keeping fluids down you do need to get checked out.

PurpleFlower1983 · 22/08/2018 18:44

@cardboard33 There are definite clues there at 12 weeks but it’s not that reliable until 16 weeks I don’t think. The sonographer must have been pretty confident to have told them though as there is time for things to change.

I think I know what I’m having but will have to wait for next scan to find out!

HidCat · 22/08/2018 18:51

@cardboard33 that's so frustrating, I hope you manage to find a way out. Could you fake a back injury and say you can't drink due to pain meds?

MistakenHoliday · 22/08/2018 19:25

@Murphyrocks @ladycarlotta I got an
amended due date of the 3rd March today! EDD buddies!

MiniHoliday wouldn't play ball at the scan today! 30 minutes of prodding and poking and jumping up and down, wiggly my belly etc. and it refused to get into a good position for measurements. Finally decided to cooperate when the Sonographer threatened rebooking the appointment. I think we've got trouble on our hands 😂

Everything looked good though: strong heartbeats and the NF measurement was good. Just got to wait for bloods back but I feel a huge sense of relief!

@BadBadBeans I've had those pains when turning over in bed - normal, I think?

MistakenHoliday · 22/08/2018 19:26

And scan pic Grin

Wineandchoccy · 22/08/2018 19:31

Lovely scan photo @MistakenHoliday sounds like you need a rest after all that jumping around Grin

ladycarlotta · 22/08/2018 19:35

@Mistakenholiday the sonographer had me doing some HIGHLY undignified wiggling. Baby seemed most put out like a little cartoon character. Glad it wasn't just me. Brilliant scan though! I'm so glad it's looking good.

Murphyrocks · 22/08/2018 19:43

Sounds like you've had some fun on your scans @MistakenHoliday and @ladycarlotta! Mine sounds rather sedate by comparison! Yey for due date buddies!

Just watching QI and apparently the uterus is the strongest muscle in the body and can exert the same force as a longbow. No wonder contractions hurts!

SDP84 · 22/08/2018 19:52

Here's my little jumping bean from today. All went well. Baby was quite a wriggle bum and kept turning it's back to us! So glad it's all over with

The March-ers 2019 #4
orangekitkat13 · 22/08/2018 19:55

I had to do the undignified dance as well! Plus the sonography pushed so hard on my belly I'm really quiet bruised!

orangekitkat13 · 22/08/2018 19:55

@SDP84 lovely picture!

Velcro88 · 22/08/2018 20:09

Lovely scan pic @SDP84! So nice to see them all coming up.

I had to do the wiggle too! And have a wee to give baby a bit more space - probably better to go with too much in there and you can let some out rather than too little. I'd had about a pint and a half before I went.

@orangekitkat13 I think we've matching due dates again - I went from 3rd March to 27 Feb?!

ladycarlotta · 22/08/2018 20:43

@orangekitkat13 yes! I am also feeling quite bruised today. She was pressing really hard!

@SDP84 it's even wriggling in the scan! I hadn't imagined they'd look so cute, but mine kept rolling over too and it seemed like such a characterful little thing. I wonder if they'll be as full of beans on the outside as they are in there?

I didn't really look at my scan letter until we were setting off in the morning Blush but it turns out it DID say to come with a full bladder. Mine was just full-ish but she didn't say anything about it, so I assume it was good enough.

orangekitkat13 · 22/08/2018 20:51

@Velcro88 yep that's the same as me! How funny would it be if they actually arrive on the same date too!

@ladycarlotta glad I'm not the only one!!

wordsmithereens · 22/08/2018 21:44

Been absent for a while, but so thrilled to see everyone's scan pics and hear how things are progressing!

Here's our little one - it was very lazy and refused to shift position from where it was relaxing in my pelvis. Had to jiggle and walk a lot, and at one point it flailed its arms about as the technician tried to judge it into position. So cute. NT measurement apparently as they would expect as well, and official due date is now 2nd March.

I also quit my job last week, which is a long story. Scary decision, but I think ultimately for the best. Looking after myself and blob is just the most important thing right now.

Still struggling with the sickness a lot. Meds are helping a bit, but it also makes it hard to work out whether it is actually improving on some days. I so look forward to eating veg again once this passes!

HidCat · 22/08/2018 22:12

Lovely scans ladies!

@orangekitkat13 yikes, I hope the bruising isn't too bad. You should mention it to your midwife.

@wordsmithereens I've never seen a baby so snuggled down in a scan before - how cute is that?

wordsmithereens · 22/08/2018 22:44

@HidCat it was adorable! At one point the technician was like "Nope, just chilling out". It's probably all the lying on the couch I've done from being sick, it's already getting used to a life of leisure. Grin

ladycarlotta · 22/08/2018 23:27

@wordsmithereens good to know they have quiet time too! It looks thoroughly relaxed in there. And wow, there's such a cohort of us due 2nd-4th March now. It's nice to know there are other people going through it.

I'm sorry things sound less than ideal for you now in terms of work and nausea, but I'm glad you can make the best choices for yourself and baby. Here's to a serene 2nd trimester.

Squashbanana1 · 23/08/2018 07:46

Had the scan yesterday and it's so amazing to actually see your little one in there! SmileAll measurements were fine and due date is now 26th Feb! It feels great to gain some days on the pregnancy! Yes can't remember who said it but the sonographer does press down hard Confused

Good luck with all your scans ladies I'm sure from now we shall see them coming!!

thefirsttimer · 23/08/2018 07:53

Also had to do the undignified wiggle over here too! These babies are not going to give us an easy ride are they?!

Lovely scan pictures coming through now from everyone! Such a relief to be leaving the first trimester behind - it won't be long for the rest of you with scans in the next few weeks too!

After a looooong 6/7 weeks, my nausea is finally starting to tail off. Still feeling sick, but haven't actually vomited since the weekend now, which feels like nothing short of a miracle! Now where is that glow I've been promised...

wordsmithereens · 23/08/2018 07:56

Thanks @ladycarlotta! I feel lucky I'm able to make this choice, really, when many can't. We won't be rich but it's doable, and thankfully maternity allowance looks straightforward. DH deserves a gold star for being supportive, too.

It'll be fun to see how all those close due dates turn out in practice! I'm not sure they quite know what they're doing with mine, ultrasound picture says I'm 12w4d, report says 12w3d, by lmp it was 12w1d, but they've also put down two different lmp dates in my notes now. Figure it'll all come out in the wash.

BadBadBeans · 23/08/2018 08:05

Congrats on all the amazing scans people! What a flurry we have had! Who's next? I haven't even got a scan date yet, and DH informed me last night that he's booked a surprise holiday for us from when I'm 12+4 to 13+1! He didn't think about potential scan dates of course, so I'm just hoping my scan comes through for the first half of that week.

@wordsmithereens sounds like you've made a great decision about work. From my experience last time round with due dates, they didn't mean much in reality! In my last antenatal club we ranged from 10 weeks early (baby is doing fine now) to two weeks late (me and several others)!

@thefirsttimer I'm glad to hear the sickness is reducing for you. Mine came back full force last night and I ended up in bed at 8pm! I was supposed to be working as I have a big deadline this week but I just could not sit up.

Thanks to everyone who said they had had similar pains and that it might be round ligament pain! I didn't have it last time round. All new!

puravida31 · 23/08/2018 08:39

Love all the scan pictures! We’ve got ours this morning so keeping everything crossed!!
