Scan all good, despite getting a parking ticket due to being at the hospital for over 3 hours! But everything seems as it should be, confirmed due date 3rd March, totally worth it 😍

@thefirsttimer GTT's are horrible. I had one in my first pregnancy, but that was around 28 weeks, so I wasn't feeling sick, and I knew baby girl was growing fine. It was lucozade to drink back then (before the recipe change!), and I despised lucozade.
I know they use a different drink now, but the waiting around for two hours with nothing in your stomach except water and glucose is torturous!
Definitely fingers crossed!

BadBadBeans · 22/08/2018 14:01

@MrsLCW I'm so sorry to hear about your previous loss. Hoping this pregnancy is a smooth one for you.

@Murphyrocks GORGEOUS! Congratumalations :D

Girls, anyone else occasionally getting a brief sharp pain in their lower abdomen if they stand up too quickly? Almost like I'm pinching a nerve or something. I've had it two or three times in the last couple of weeks - this morning I dropped to my knees with it and the change of position made it go away instantly. I'm guessing it's probably not something serious because if it were, I would be getting it more frequently or having some other bad symptoms by now. But it is quite ouchie! The midwife did say to ring about any pain, but I kind of feel like this isn't severe enough to ring about...

Murphyrocks · 22/08/2018 14:10

Thanks @BadBadBeans! That sounds like round ligament pain, has started for the last couple of weeks too, generally goes away with a change in position. Just stretching out!

Bluebelltulip · 22/08/2018 14:52

Good scan Murphy rocks shame about the parking ticket though.

Velcro88 · 22/08/2018 15:32

Great scan @Murphyrocks! Bugger about the parking ticket- you were there a long time!!

ladycarlotta · 22/08/2018 15:48

@MurphyRocks hooray! Baby looks great! So we're EDD buddies! (I haven't decided yet if I'm ready to relinquish the 2nd).

@BadBadBeans definitely sounds like round ligament pain. The joy just keeps on coming!

Murphyrocks · 22/08/2018 15:53

Thanks everyone! I knew I was parking in a 2 hour limited zone but didn't even occur to me I'd be longer than that!

Nightmanagerfan · 22/08/2018 15:58

Congrats on the scan @murphyrocks! I’ve had the sharp pains too @badbadbeans - this morning was particularly bad getting up out of bed!

Feeling decidedly rough - back at work and vomiting every few hours. Eating my weight in oat cakes, crisps and rice cakes to stave off the nausea... awful! I am so over this now. 12 week scan not for three weeks yet Shock

ballanj · 22/08/2018 16:05

@Murphyrocks lovely scan picture. The only time in your life you've not been mad about a parking ticket I'll bet! I wanted to ask you and others on here actually how long the 12 week scan usually takes? Will be having the nuchal test too

Nightmanagerfan · 22/08/2018 16:25

@ballanj at my hospital (Kings in London) the scan takes up to an hour (v thorough) and you wait around for the blood results - I think our appointment was about two hours total. I think this is unusual though - if you have blood results that come back later then the scan can be quick.

Velcro88 · 22/08/2018 16:35

@ballanj from when I was first called (had to have a chat first about whether I wanted the screening, then called again for scan, then again for blood test and confirmation of new due date) it was about 40 mins before we were out. Most of that time was me being scanned, happily. The sonographer told us the nuchal measurement was nice and low but we get our risk factors through the post I think once the bloods are done; it wasn't there and then.

melissa112 · 22/08/2018 16:40

@MurphyRocks gorgeous scan!!

Thanks for the replies about when to buy stuff, sounds similar to my own thoughts. My OH did buy a few sleepsuits the other day though! Don't think he could resist.

For the 12 week scans did everyone have to have a full bladder? Sounds silly but I find it hard to drink much without being sick so a little worried about having to drink a lot at once!

@badbadbeans I've had those pains too, mostly when switching sides in the night, sometimes it's almost like a sharp cramp when I turn. If I carry on turning or go back to the previous position it eases but hoping it's just the round ligament pains that others have mentioned

Wineandchoccy · 22/08/2018 16:54

@ballanj my letter said please allow 2 hours it probably took 1 hour 45min

ballanj · 22/08/2018 16:55

Thanks @Velcro88 yes the nurse at my booking in said we'd get the results in the post afterwards, so fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Wineandchoccy · 22/08/2018 16:56

@melissa112 yes unfortunately you do Sad my letter said to drink 2 pints I probably managed 1 1/2 and they sent me to the toilet because my bladder was to full

ballanj · 22/08/2018 16:57

Thanks @Wineandchoccy wow it really varies depending on the hospital trust I reckon! I'm east Surrey and Sussex and relatively new to the area so will be my first visit to that hospital ever. Said to my other half we've not experienced anything like this before together so we'll probably both be anxious, nervous wrecks next Thursday!

ballanj · 22/08/2018 16:58

@melissa112 my letter said I don't need a full bladder for the 12 week scan, but I asked the same thing on here a while back. Lots of ladies said picture might be clearer. Thinking I'll go in with a full bladder and can always have a wee if they ask me to 👌🏼👍🏼

Jojoevans · 22/08/2018 17:25

Any one lost weight ? Lost a stone and a half because of the sickness feel so rotten even struggling to keep water down anyone als the same ?

Pearcrumble · 22/08/2018 17:36

@jojoevans Yes, also lost a stone, I'm not eating much and vomiting about every other day, but it sounds quite bad that you are struggling to keep water down, maybe you could go to the gp for some meds? There is a hyperemesis support group on Mumsnet too if you think it might be going that way.

@murphyrocks lovely scan picture! Makes me excited for mine, three weeks away tho!

Marmite2018 · 22/08/2018 17:48

Ooh I am getting so jealous of these gorgeous scan pics. We will have had our scan this time next week, can't come soon enough.

I am still riding out this nausea. @Jojoevans that's quite a lot to lose! Midwife might be able to help or your GP! I initially lost about half a stone but seem to have evened out now. Pretty sure the weight is on my boobs though, they are MASSIVE. My tummy also is making an appearance (pretty sure it's all bloat).

Murphyrocks · 22/08/2018 17:52

Thanks all! @Jojoevans I lost several kilos with both pregnancies early on but put it back on fine as soon as the sickness passed, as long as it's less than 29% of your body weight I think you're OK?

@Melissa112 yes you need a full bladder and I did the same this morning, downed it all then vomited all over the shower! I did it all again straightaway though and kept it down, and my appointment ended up being 30 minutes late so was fine by then! 2 pints is huge though, mine said 1 1/2 and I probably managed more like a pint and got great pics.

Jojoevans · 22/08/2018 17:53

Thanks glad I’m not alone only been a day or so of not keeping the water down but the eating longer. Going to my booking in appointment soon so hopefully I can hold out till then.
What are you finding you can eat ?

Marmite2018 · 22/08/2018 17:58

@Jojoevans carbs and chocolate milk. Chocolate milk is my go to!!!!! My midwife said eat what you can during this phase and don't stress about it. I was seriously concerned considering I'm pretty healthy and was exercising up to 4/5 times a week prior to being pregnant. Now I lie on the sofa, drinking chocolate milk, eating toast and reading MN all day!!!! How I'm going to go back to work in a week and a bit I have no idea! Feel better. I'm told it will pass and I do think mine is beginning to.

orangekitkat13 · 22/08/2018 18:01

Think my nausea is starting to ease to, felt sick less often the last few days thankfully!
