@peonylover congratulations on a little boy! They'll be lovely together. Does the panorama scan make you any safer to tell people or would you prefer to wait? I'm so sorry you're off to a funeral.

@BadBadBeans oh gosh, maybe I'll try to get hold of a midwife then, just to be safe. I think they're only worried about headaches after 20 weeks in terms of high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia, but worth checking in. It sounds like headaches aren't too uncommon around this point, but frankly I could do without.

BadBadBeans · 21/08/2018 12:26

@ladycarlotta with our first my husband was totally gobsmacked to see it moving. Despite being a Man of Science he had somehow imagined it just being... static in there! Congratulations on your gorgeous scan.

@Nightmanagerfan I did see some maternity cigarette trousers somewhere during my browsing if you want smart but not wide? X

BadBadBeans · 21/08/2018 12:28

@ladycarlotta I thought that too about it being more of an issue later on, but she just gave me a blanket list of symtpoms to call her about. I'm sure it is totally fine but always worth a quick check! X

Velcro88 · 21/08/2018 12:33

@ladycarlotta what a lovely scan pic! Oh congrats, and I'm glad baby played ball in the end!

Thanks for the maternity wear tips. Will check them out this eve and hopefully get some ordered. I can just about wear my big jeans but the waistband is starting to get a bit uncomfortable...

Got my maternity exemption certificate through today too; it's all going on!

Velcro88 · 21/08/2018 12:45

@ladycarlotta did they confirm your due date and give your your risk factors there and then?

ladycarlotta · 21/08/2018 13:09

@BadBadBeans totally appreciate the heads-up. I'd rather be safe than sorry really.

Speaking of Man of Science, baby definitely busy recapitulating phylogeny - it seems to have graduated from a squid to a sea otter.

@Velcro88 they confirmed due date - now officially 3rd of March, but she got two different measurements depending on whether baby was stretching or curled up, so I can believe it might stick with 2nd.

With risk factors she didn't mention anything re the nuchal fold measurement she took, but they do bloods too (is this just for Edwards and Patau? Not sure), which take a few days to come back if high-risk, and if low-risk they send you a letter in due course. I wouldn't expect to find out anything on the day.

HidCat · 21/08/2018 14:09

@ladycarlotta lovely scan picture! I just want mine to come around now.

Just had a steak at lunch, ordered it well done and they deliver it decidedly medium. Always makes me laugh how some chefs simply refuse to cook steak through.

Nightmanagerfan · 21/08/2018 14:23

@ladycarlotta gorgeous pic! The bloods are combined with the nuchal fold measurement and maternal age to give a risk factor for Downs, Edwards, Patau and also various heart/genetic probs. In my trust (London) we get these results in the scan appointment as they have an on-site lab, but you’ll hear soon enough by the sounds of it.

@hidcat I know steak is such an annoyance in pregnancy! When I was feeling ok-ish last week I went to cote brasserie for steak-frites - same as you, came out bloody although I’d asked for well done! I wonder if saying I’m pregnant would help?

BadBadBeans · 21/08/2018 14:25

@Nightmanagerfan @HidCat I went to a Michelin starred pub for my birthday when pregnant with DS. Had to ask for my poached egg in my starter to be cooked through as at that time runny eggs were a no-no. I did explain it was due to pregnancy and the chef did oblige, although prob thought I was ruining the dish!

ballanj · 21/08/2018 14:41

@ladycarlotta what a lovely scan picture!!! Look forward to seeing others over the next few days/week. I hope to have an equally lovely one to share myself next Thursday! Anyone else feel apprehensive?!

Nightmanagerfan · 21/08/2018 14:43

@badbadbeans it does seem such a faff eating out and not wanting to make a fuss! I am very glad runny (lion mark) eggs are ok though. We usually buy eggs from a farmers’ market (that makes it sound posher than it is, but it’s a market and we buy from the farmer) as their hens aren’t vaccinated. I felt bad and explained to the lady last week as we eat so many eggs!

Nightmanagerfan · 21/08/2018 14:45

@ballanj good luck for your scan. Mines not til 10th sept so a bit to go. I’m probably more nervous than I’m letting on as we had bad news at a previous 12 week scan, but that is rare and most people are fine. I definitely can’t wait to be past that milestone though.

puravida31 · 21/08/2018 14:48

What a wonderful scan @ladycarlotta! I’m so pleased you saw little one happily wriggling around!

@ballanj yep very apprehensive! Mines this Thursday and now I’m really wishing i’d got a private one sooner!

MistakenHoliday · 21/08/2018 14:57

@ladycarlotta that's such a lovely pic!

@peonylover22 so glad everything's come back low risk and congratulations on your boy! Who's getting their scan tomorrow? Mine's at 10am and excited/nervous!

Some great maternity recommendations here. I get paid on Friday so I'll have a look on the H and M website for jeans.

PurpleFlower1983 · 21/08/2018 16:13

@ladycarlotta Gorgeous scan! Congratulations!

Squashbanana1 · 21/08/2018 16:15

Aww congrats on all the ladies and their scan pictures!! @MistakenHoliday mine is also tomorrow!! Nervous and excited to see our little one!!

My lack of symptoms last week led me into a false sense of security as I'd thought I'd reached the 12 week calming stage ... alas no, I feel so drained and tired these past few days I had to leave work early!

Squashbanana1 · 21/08/2018 16:19

@ladycarlotta I have been getting banging headaches too! I think we have mats hung due dates (if you are sticking to the 2nd!) although all may change at the scan tomorrow

orangekitkat13 · 21/08/2018 17:17

Just back from our scan. We have one healthy wriggly baby! 😍 they also said that the fold measurement looked low so positive sign for that to be ok but need to wait for the bloods for certain. I'm so relieved!

thefirsttimer · 21/08/2018 17:20

Great scan pics @ladycarlotta and @orangekitkat13!

We also had ours today; I have an updated due date of 23rd February! I think that makes me the soonest due?! Shock

Shampooeeee · 21/08/2018 17:22

Lovely scan pic ladycarlotta. Are you telling everyone now? Hope the other scans today went well.

I’m not sure what to do about mat clothes, I have a skirt and two pairs of jeans left from last time but the jeans are skinny which are kind of out of fashion now. I remember one pair were pretty tight by the end too, so I’m scared to try them on! I haven’t put any weight on since last pregnancy but I feel a bit less toned. My favourites last time were not mat wear but smart sportswear trousers with slim legs and an elasticated waist.

Spoke too soon about the nausea passing. I had to do some form filling at the bank today and I rushed it to run outside. A combination of a hot building and someone nearby with overpowering perfume!

orangekitkat13 · 21/08/2018 17:23

@thefirsttimer this it might be! How exciting, we'll all be looking to you for tips!

They updated mine to 27th Feb.

Shampooeeee · 21/08/2018 17:24

Cross posts. Congratulations kitkat and thefirsttimer!

ladycarlotta · 21/08/2018 17:24

oooooh @orangekitkat13 how lovely! congratulations! Isn't it a relief to see it there? And knowing it's probably low risk is a massive weight off. Congratulations, hope you're celebrating. I've got Gu in for pudding tonight.

orangekitkat13 · 21/08/2018 17:32

@ladycarlotta so great to see it wriggling away! I've got a curry and some chocolate buttons to celebrate with! Just hope the curry doesn't give me heart burn! 😰
