@ballanj I completely understand it's hard before you've had the 12 week scan, last time I was very restricted.

Gronk27 · 20/08/2018 16:22

@ALRM Haha thanks! I do come out with some humdingers my DH tweets a lot of what I say lol.
@wineandchoccy Snap-work admin on sofa feeling exhausted
@ballanj Scan twins! I can't wait to tell everyone I'm pregnant so I can just chill with it.

As soon as I’ve had scan I’m getting some maternity jeans and bras feeling so frumpy at the mo. Loving the stabby pains in my uterus. I'll also be able to start getting excited proper and fingers crossed get to the glowy, Mother Earth, serene stage. That's a thing right?

ballanj · 20/08/2018 16:27

@Gronk27 I told my boss on Friday and she was incredibly supportive. And rather excited in that she jumped up from her chair and hugged me! She's got two kids and said she remembers getting all her energy back in the second trimester so let's hope we get past this tough bit. I think once I can relax and actually tell people after the scan it will all feel a little easier. And I can moan aloud to anyone how fat/unattractive/knackered I feel 😂😂😂😂😂

ballanj · 20/08/2018 16:28

@Gronk27 remind me when your scan is?

ballanj · 20/08/2018 16:29

@Gronk27 ignore that last comment....doh! 😂 meant to ask what time is yours? Mines at 9:40. Have you any idea how long it will last for? My first rodeo....!

Gronk27 · 20/08/2018 16:40

@ballanj I'll tell my bosses after the scan, can't wait to get it out in the open. I'm freelance and just got a new job-wondering how to broach it with them.

Haha it's at 11. My first rodeo too. I've been given barely any info, not even about drinking water. Just date, time, location!

ballanj · 20/08/2018 16:51

@Gronk27 my letter was quite informative but one thing I did notice as that it said I DO NOT need a full bladder, but from reading online it's suggested to have one as helps get a more clear picture. Thoughts everyone?

Hans123 · 20/08/2018 16:58

@ballanj
Hello. I would just go in with a full bladder and if needed to pass some they will say. You get a clearer photo of them when you drink enough. This was my first scan with my first X

ladycarlotta · 20/08/2018 17:15

@ballanj I haven't had any info either, but asked my friend about this the other day - she said that it had helped to go with a full-ish bladder as they asked her to empty it to try to make the baby move about a bit, so I guess it's good to have the option.

But for my first scan at the EPU I'd drunk WAY too much and was bursting, and sonographer felt that my bladder was really much fuller than it needed to be.

Maybe have a pint of water before you go? Fullish but not uncomfortable?

Newbie2703 · 20/08/2018 17:22

Anybody got any tips on telling y your boss ? I'm so so nervous. 9 +2 but I'm going back to work tomorrow after going home sick again on Saturday. My vision went blury due to a migraine and I was feeling very sick ! My work are really strict on sickness, even if you have 1 day off you have to have a back to work interview :/ this is the second time now.

MistakenHoliday · 20/08/2018 17:45

@ballanj I feel the same - doughy and dumpy and my bra is killing me 🙁

But if a PSA though - ASOS has got 20% off all full price stuff today so it might be worth a look at some bits? You can pay with Klarna and you have a month to pay it back a really useful when you spend a fortune and then send everything apart from one plain t-shirt back Grin

Funnybunnyfluff · 20/08/2018 17:50

Lovely scan photos ladies xxx
It's such a waiting game and I hate waiting.

puravida31 · 20/08/2018 18:15

@BadBadBeans I didn’t have my booking in appointment until 11+5, I was going out of my mind but they seemed very lax about it all. I think I got the date a couple of weeks before, so I would keep chasing them this week if I were you. Hope you get the date soon!

ballanj · 20/08/2018 18:23

@Newbie2703 If I were in your situation, I would let someone you work with know as soon as possible. If not your boss, at least your HR department, as I don't think they can count your sick days against you if they're pregnancy related....? I'd just ask your superior if you can have a word in private and tell them as much as you want to, but do be sure to tell them that you're not feeling great with it and that's the reason for your sick days.

ballanj · 20/08/2018 18:24

Thanks for the tip @MistakenHoliday I might just do that! I've picked up some elasticated culllottes in Zara this evening and a shirt that will see me through a few months. I knew I'd struggle with the weight/body change but didn't anticipate I'd feel so different quite so early on.

BadBadBeans · 20/08/2018 19:32

@puravida31 As it happened the midwife called and asked me if I could come in at short notice this afternoon, so I am now booked in! Woohoo! I looked a hot mess as I had to leave the house in a rush, but hey ho. Discovered I have put on 2kg in 5 weeks which is slightly alarming as I am now 2kg heavier than I was at this point in the pregnancy with DS, with whom I put on barely any weight in the first trimester! I'm not surprised though as I've puffed out at the tummy quite quickly. Midwife didn't seem bothered so I shall try not to be twitchy about it and just see it as a good sign of things progressing!

SDP84 · 20/08/2018 20:01

Is anyone else struggling with not sleeping at night? It's driving me bonkers I'm so exhausted but just constantly wake up and it can take hours to get back to sleep. It's making the days so hard especially as I have zero motivation anyway!

TheWanderlust · 20/08/2018 20:09

@Pearcrumble your midwife sounds like mine. I was petrified of mentioning anything but she made me feel completely at ease. I've been referred to the perinatal team and she's given me her mobile number to keep in touch ... hopefully reducing some anxiety

TheWanderlust · 20/08/2018 20:11

@SDP84 sorry I hit post before I finished my reply - and yes! If I wake in the night it's usually for hours. Over the weekend I woke at 1.15am and that was me up for the day!

orangekitkat13 · 20/08/2018 20:12

@SDP84 I'm exactly the same! Haven't sent a full night since my BFP!

Loving all the scan pictures. Got mine tomorrow afternoon, I'm so nervous!

ballanj · 20/08/2018 20:19

@orangekitkat13 @TheWanderlust @SDP84 my sleep pattern has been a bit all over the show lately. Really bizarre dreams and had a nightmare last night and woke up feeling like I couldn't breathe, my poor OH thought there was something wrong with me and bud bud. I'm not helping his anxiety at all 😬😬

orangekitkat13 · 20/08/2018 20:23

@ballanj a brass band would wake up my DH! I've had a few bad dreams, when I get them they are so vivid that it takes me ages to calm down and get back to sleep.

Wineandchoccy · 20/08/2018 20:25

Yes the insomnia is awful I had it last time as well I’m sure it’s to prepare you for a newborn 😭

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 20/08/2018 20:43

I'm not suffering with insomnia yet. I could sleep for Britain at the moment! I am waking up pretty early but I think that's because I'm usually asleep by half nine. I'm waking up about 3-4 times a night to pee though 😫

HidCat · 20/08/2018 20:55

@purpleflower1983 that's a lush scan pic!

@ballanj @Gronk27 my scan is on 30th too but not until 12pm. That's going to be a very long morning.

I'm waking 2-3 times a night to pee but apart from tat I'm sleeping ok. If my mind starts racing I start thinking of that shark song (baby shark doo doo do do do doo etc) and that clears my head enough to fall asleep quickly. I think any repetitive song would do it though.
