How is everyone doing? Anyone else got their dating scan coming up? When are people telling their work?

Swisbest2 · 09/11/2018 06:53

Thought nausea getting better i was wrong and exhausted. Scan 26th will be 13 weeks probably after that. How are you @pancakes7?

Pancakes7 · 09/11/2018 07:26

Same here. Still nausea and so tired. Also having back pain/twinges down my bum and leg. Waaah. Hopefully will ease for us both soon. 26th not too long now.

HalfBloodPrincess · 09/11/2018 07:43

I seem to be getting my symptoms one at a time. Nausea was replaced by dizziness, That’s gone now and my boobs have started hurting 😩

Swisbest2 · 09/11/2018 07:53

@halfbloodprincess boob pain is horrible isnt it especially when the oh is completely mesmerized bt their new size. Im struggling with work atm its a heavy physical workload and ten hours on feet and feel like crying in mornings wondering how ill get through but also dont want to tell anybody yet after last 2 times 😣

Pancakes7 · 09/11/2018 08:40

@Swisbest2 Oh gosh, that must be difficult having a heavy physical job. I hope today goes ok. Atleast it's Friday. Hopefully you don't work weekends? I guess I'm lucky mines a desk job. Feeling a bit anxious now but excited too. Monday's the big day.

Pancakes7 · 09/11/2018 08:41

@TheHalfBloodPrince I had constant Boob pain at the beginning. Now it's on and off. Accidentally knocked my nipple this morning ouch!! Lol

HalfBloodPrincess · 09/11/2018 09:06

I thought I’d gotten away with it. Makes no difference bra on or off, they just hurt 😫

dreaminofholidays · 09/11/2018 09:21

@pancakes7 least Monday is almost here. It's just such a long wait to get to the dating scan isn't it?!

I had mine on Monday so told work on Tuesday. I'm planning to start mat leave 11 weeks before my due date so wanted to tell them pretty early!

13 weeks today and I've been sick twice so far today... fingers crossed it eases off soon xxx

Pancakes7 · 09/11/2018 10:01

@Dreaminofholidays Can I ask, why are you starting maternity so early? I feel I want the most time possible with baby, so plan to start as late as possible. Just curious. So you told the next day? I'm just worried regarding the blood tests. Feel maybe I should wait a couple of days to make sure no bad news calls. Just a bit paranoid I guess and yes omg the wait for dating scan has been soooooo long! Excited it's nearly here. I hope baby is ok.

Swisbest2 · 09/11/2018 11:21

@pancakes7 everything crossed for you for mon such a milestone 😁 yep its a 7 day business lol. Really struggling today im very aware i look grey and am not with it because i feel really feint but if im sick i dont get paid even though its salaried (tight company) so im just plodding lol.

Right now i wish i could take maternity before the busy christmas lol 😂

kisses4u · 09/11/2018 12:42

I've already had the results of the combined screening I had on Monday. I had a letter in the post yesterday and I'm deemed low risk. Phew 😅

Pancakes7 · 09/11/2018 12:53

@Kisses4u Wow that's quick. I hope mine comes that quickly. I'm glad you're low risk. Great news. @Swisbest2 Oh no, do you have Sunday off atleast? Poor you, harsh no pay if sick. Hopefully when you tell them after your scan, they'll make some changes for you to make things easier.

Jessabean · 09/11/2018 14:09

Sorry haven't posted in a while!

Those of you guys getting near the end of the first trimester now- my nausea and tiredness did eventually go about week 13 and second trimester has been much better if it's any consolation- you're almost there!

@kisses4u congrats on your scan & screening! I think looks like a girl nub- very similar angle that mine was at dating scan if that is the numb I can see!

@Pancakes7 good luck for Monday!

@Maydot good luck for your 20 weeks scan also! From what I remember you had a gender scan but it wasn't conclusive - does this mean you'll hopefully find out more definitively at this scan?
I'm counting down to my 20weeks scan now is in just under 2 weeks time- feels like ages away!!

kisses4u · 09/11/2018 16:12

So glad to hear the tiredness and sickness has subsided at 13 weeks @Jessabean I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and starting to feel better this week already. Still on 3x a day cyclizine and ondansetron for the hyperemesis though. Feeling very acidic in my throat as the day goes by. But it's great that I've stopped vomiting now. Interesting that you think girl. No one has suggested girl yet. Only family and friends who say they have a 'feeling' it's a boy. Nobody has looked at scan pic from a 'nun theory' point of view. I think girl tho too based on the scan pic... I'm so intrigued I might post a new thread to see what others think! 😂 (the impatience has kicked in!)
Good luck for your scan @Pancakes7 on Monday! Will be thinking of you

Swisbest2 · 09/11/2018 18:31

Thats great news @kisses4u 😊 and that everything going well

Great to hear the positive stories about second trimester and everybody doing well

Pancakes7 · 09/11/2018 19:31

Thanks @Jessabean and @kisses4u I'm so excited. @Jessabean I'm glad your nausea and tiredness has eased. I'm looking forward to that. @Kisses4u I'm glad your sickness has stopped.

dreaminofholidays · 09/11/2018 21:48

@pancakes7 good luck for Monday!

Of course you can ask why I'm starting mat leave so early.Partly it's down to being unhappy at work so I won't be going back there post mat leave. I also have a horrible commute so will look to move jobs to somewhere more local to home to make things easier with nursery etc.
Xxx

Pancakes7 · 10/11/2018 06:59

@Dreaminofholidays Oh ok that makes sense then. I'm sorry to hear your unhappy at your job. I hope you find somewhere better after maternity. I'm nervous to tell my boss next week. Anyone else get nervous? I do think he may have guessed anyway. As he knows about what happened in May as I had to be off.

awakeatnight · 10/11/2018 09:06

@Pancakes7 good luck telling your boss! It won't be this bad... I had the weirdest experience telling my (female, psychopath, narcissist) boss. She was not long in position and I was (rightly) concerned my announcement would affect our relationship. Anyway ... the conversation went something like this
im pregnant- about 14 weeks.
that's exciting (chuckles)
(puzzled face)
sorry, whenever I hear someone is pregnant, I just always think of them having sex. Haha you just had to tell your boss you had sex.
I never thought of it like that (....thinking... what are we, 8?!)

kisses4u · 10/11/2018 09:36

@awakeatnight omg your boss sounds like a right plonker! How embarrassing (for her more than you)
Telling work is a worry but where I work it's completely normal to have a couple of pregnant ladies at the same time! I often got asked if I was pregnant since I've got a 2 year old, everyone 'expects' you to have another one! Haha!

Pancakes7 · 10/11/2018 12:15

@awakeatnight Oh dear how childish, for anyone, nevermind a boss. I think my boss will be fine tbh. I just know it'll be hard to get someone up to speed to cover me. I do tend to help alot of people with things.

SurfingOwl · 10/11/2018 13:22

@@awakeatnight your boss sounds like a right idiot and clearly completely ignorant of that fact that these days many babies are as a result of IVF so maybe the parents haven’t had sex at all!

I’m now at the stage of suffering from constant headaches and just moving my head makes my vision juddery and hurts. Due to an early planned section, next week I can say that I am at least half way through.

Swisbest2 · 10/11/2018 19:31

Bit of an emotional wreck tonight oh gone for drinks for a birthday and im feeling fat looking all haggard and tired in my dressing gown and just feeling like general shit

shinyblackdog · 10/11/2018 19:43

Evening all, can I join? I'm 40, nearly 22 weeks with dd2 (due mid-March), and have been panicking for the last few days that I haven't felt her move as much as dd1 at the same stage. EDDs this month for my last two pregnancies, which were unsuccessful - mmc at 11 weeks in April (baby gone at 7+3, the day after an early scan) and tfmr following a horrible 20 week scan in June last year. Dd1 was three in June.

I am now terrified about late miscarriage and stillbirth. I "went public" at work this week after my 20 week scan - I couldn't handle breathing in a second longer - but now I really feel like I've tempted fate. I've been in therapy for the tfmr for a few months - it took me a while to recognise that I needed it - but it doesn't seem to be helping with this fear. She talks all the time about statistics and how unlikely it is but the fact is I was low risk and still had to have a tfmr and I know people who have gone through worse. I just wish I could relax and enjoy this pregnancy. Anyone got any tips??
