Thanks ladies. Just went to EPu for a blood test and have to go back in 48 hours so they can compare my hormone levels. They do not do scans at this stage apparently. Hopefully when my results come back this afternoon the hormone levels will be high enough for me to take comfort but they will only know fully picture after 2nd blood test. I had a tiny bit more pink this morning but no pains so fingers crossed all is well.

dreaminofholidays · 31/10/2018 12:05

@newbie21 Good you got in for blood tests and will hear some results this afternoon.
Frustrating they wouldn't do a scan, how far along are you? Would you consider going for a private one for reassurance? xxx

Swisbest2 · 31/10/2018 14:44

@pancakes7 woohoo another milestone thats fab news 😁 i almost dont want to tell anybody at all its quite nice having something private

xJune88 · 31/10/2018 19:29

Shitting myself for my scan tomorrow even though I only saw baby on Sunday. Feeling mega anxious tonight and hubby is v.quiet too think he's feeling it :( were going to the same hospital we did last time when they told us baby had died. Shitting myself to be honest. 🤞🤞 And I'm scared even if baby is ok the testing is going to find something this worry is bloody awful. X

Newbie21 · 31/10/2018 19:44

@xJune88 hope all goes well. Hope you and hubby manage to get some sleep and don't worry too much. X

I called the EPU at 4pm to get my results, they told me they weren't back yet so to call again after 6pm. I called at 6.02pm was on hold for 1 hour 15mins waiting to get through. Then called the switchboard on another line and they told me EPU was now closed so little bit annoyed and anxious. I know the first test doesn't reveal everything but it would be good to know my levels are in the realms of normal. :-(

HidCat · 31/10/2018 20:54

@Newbie21 if it's too early for a scan it could be implantation! I had a spot of blood at 7weeks due to implantation. Fingers crossed for you and all the others who are having anxiety at the moment. xxx

Newbie21 · 31/10/2018 21:05

@HidCat I don't think it is too early for a scan I'm 7+5. It's just my healthcare trust doesn't offer them in these situations. They said the blood test was a better indicator of whether pregnancy is progressing how it should be. Although they said the concern was where the baby was so you would think a scan would be the quickest (albeit a more expensive) way of working that out but 🤷‍♀️. I could have a private scan but I think I will wait for the blood tests. If they can't give me my results by tomorrow, I'll go for a scan.

Pancakes7 · 01/11/2018 00:04

@Newbie21 I hope all is ok and you got your bloods back. @xJune88 How did your scan go today? I hope it went well.

Pancakes7 · 01/11/2018 07:53

I just realised it was past midnight last night lol so you're both having results and scan today. Silly me! Baby brain is in full force!

Newbie21 · 01/11/2018 08:21

Hi girls, so I got my first set of bloods back this morning - HCG at 8,082 so the lower side of normal (7,650-229,000) but that could be my normal but they really can't tell anything until I have my results from my test tomorrow. I haven't had any more bleeding so hopefully things are ok. Fingers crossed the levels jump up by tomorrow. And everything is on track.

xJune88 · 01/11/2018 08:36

Hope all is well @newbie21 got no sleep at all absolouley dreading today x

Newbie21 · 01/11/2018 09:23

@xJune88 best of luck. I'm sure all will be well x

Jessabean · 01/11/2018 09:30

@xJune88 good luck today with the scan today! Will be thinking of you.

@Newbie21 glad your first result was ok. Keeping fingers crossed for you for your repeat & that it's just implantation bleeding!

xJune88 · 01/11/2018 11:10

All good phew. She said measurements looked fine but I'll get a letter next week with a ratio score thing. She also found a bruise under the sac which she was pretty sure was causing the bleeding and said it won't effect the pregnancy so feeling abit better but I know the worrying won't stop haha x

Newbie21 · 01/11/2018 11:13

@xJune88 fantastic news! And it's good you have an explanation for the bleeding was that your 12 week scan? Did they give you a date?

xJune88 · 01/11/2018 11:26

Due on 12th May at the minute (my Dad passed away this year on the 11th) so would be a nice time for baby to come xx

Pancakes7 · 01/11/2018 13:25

@xJune88 Aw I'm so glad all is well and also explanation for bleeding is good. Now try to enjoy it. I want my dating scan noooooww!! Still 10 days to wait. Get the fear every now ans then. Trying to stop myself.

Swisbest2 · 01/11/2018 14:33

@june88 thats fab news 😁

Question to all... my nurse saif i have a small sch halfway up towards my cervix and that i might have some discharge or a glob 😐 at some point does anybofy know if this is dangerous or anything she didnt seem bothered just said if i want to avoid mess avoid sex cos it might dislodge it and be uncomfortable

awakeatnight · 01/11/2018 19:19

Ladies can I join you? I was previously here as 'Doddlebobs' - currently 4w5d - due 6 July so not a spring baby by any stretch! I tried an antenatal thread but it's scary over there and I don't know any one whereas here feels like a more natural progression from the TTC after loss thread. I haven't read much of the thread since I had to leave in August but good to see you all doing so well 😘

Newbie21 · 01/11/2018 19:27

Glad to have you here @awakeatnight I'm a mid June baby all being well so also technically not Spring so it's nice to have you on board. I recognise your names from other threads.

kisses4u · 01/11/2018 19:29

Welcome @awakeatnight this thread is for everyone no mater the due date! Hope you will find some comfort support here with us!
Hey everyone, been reading every day but haven't written on here in ages, good to see that things are fine with you @xJune88 such a relief for you!

Hey @Pancakes7 not long for our scans now! Think there are a few of us going in on Monday for 12 weeks scans? 5th nov? Can't remember who now!

@Swisbest2 I also have a SCH and was reassured at my 7 week scan that it shouldn't cause any problems accept that I might spot occasionally. I've not have any bleeds since 6 weeks so hopefully it's been reabsorbed now.

frankiefumbles · 01/11/2018 20:11

@kisses4u I wonder if we should make the group name more inclusive on the new thread? I think it's a great "concept" for a thread and not really tied to a particular due date.

I'm in on the 7th Nov for the 12 week scan but excitingly have NIPT tomorrow for a chance to check on bean. If anything I wish the two scans were a little further apart to give a bit more security! I'm making the bold move to take mum, dad and gran (92!!) with me to the scan tomorrow. It feels risky at only 11+4 tomorrow but I desperately want my gran to see and she will have never seen an ultrasound like that. I want her to see baby move but naturally I'm panicked it might all backfire terribly. They say they would want to be with me to support me if it's bad news so they seem okay with it!

Swisbest2 · 01/11/2018 20:12

Hi @awakeatnight congratulations and welcome 😁

@kissesforyou yeah im not sure how they tell cos nothing yet but she did say it might just be reabsorbed. Just something else im now obsessing over. My anxiety is so bad agm im checking ive locked up work twice every door and going back to the ocd behaviours i had as a young teenager. Its probably.because i have no control over the situation

kisses4u · 01/11/2018 21:11

@frankiefumbles are you going private for the NIPT? I didn't think this was offered on the NHS? How much is it to do?

frankiefumbles · 01/11/2018 21:43

@kisses4u I'm going private. It's probably overkill. It's 399 in a few places I've looked. Slightly more in London.

The main reason I'm doing it is DH is older so there is minimal research to indicate higher levels of chromosomal abnormalities in sperm. And supported by the fact that I want to know ASAP. I don't want to have to wait until the 12 week scan, then a further week for the bloods to go though, wait for an NIPT appointment and then a week for results...you could easily end up having to make a "difficult decision" at close to 15 weeks rather than close to 12. My friend ended up with a high risk result at 18 weeks and then went for her NIPT and it would have been heart wrending to decide to abort an obviously unhealthy baby so much further on (in the case of some of the conditions) and she said it would have been worth every penny to have the NIPT earlier. Her results came through clear on NIPT.

Honestly I think everything should come back fine and we will have just found out the gender and had a reassurance scan in a really expensive fashion! I'm going with harmony as that's all they do in the SW but I'd have preferred Panorama. I don't have the additional abnormalities being tested as there is some evidence to say it's less reliable.

I'm also interested in the research that says many stillbirths can be predicted or prevented by an ultrasound scan of the placenta/umbilical blood flow - because a lot of the issues surrounding poor blood supply are linked to stillbirths. I think I'm just a bit paranoid after two early MCs but I just kind of saved up the money knowing it would help my sanity to try and test thoroughly.
