Posting in the vain hope I’ll manage to keep up 😂

Is anyone going for a private gender scan? I’m thinking of booking one about 16-17 weeks.

UndercoverLauren · 01/08/2018 13:18

When we had our first midwife appointment they gave us a form for the classes, sent it off the next day but we haven't heard back yet.
There's a pregnancy information evening next week, so we're going along to that.

thismeansnothing · 01/08/2018 13:27

@5Makes9 I'm looking to book a 4D scan at around 30 weeks. We couldn't get DDs sex at her 20 week scan as she was asleep with her legs crossed and wasn't for budging. I neeeeeeeeded to know and despite husband saying they are creepy and a waste of money we had a 4D one to find out and he said it was the best thing ever. when she was born she looked so much like the scan. Plan to do the same this time, but more so DD can come along and find out if she's going to get a little brother or sister.

thismeansnothing · 01/08/2018 13:31

As for ante natal classes I'm not bothering with NCT. Would rather spend the money on baby stuff, plus I'm having an ELCS this time so don't want to go if it's all geared around labour and 'natural' birth. Looks like even the NHS zones have changed since I had DD, it's done in combo with the county council and the few remaining children centres that are still open. Again visiting labour Ward will be a bit pointless this time. Only one I'm going to is the breast feeding one more for a refresher and some reassurance.

craftymum01 · 01/08/2018 13:36

I did NCT last time but not doing anything this time. I would though if I had moved to a new area as it is a good way of meeting people and there is always at least one person who knows every activity group going on in the local area which is handy

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/08/2018 13:37

Place marking as I responded to the old thread by mistake! Lookingatthestars my reflux (if that's what it is) is literally a lump in my throat, it's horrible and makes me feel more sick.

Can we take gaviscon in the first trimester??

LookingAtTheStars89 · 01/08/2018 13:43

@Lookingforadvice123 I have been taking that. I've taken it during pregnancy before too.

jeanzbeanz · 01/08/2018 13:45

I was supposed to have a phone call from the Dr between 11:30 and 13:30, and not heard anything yet. I feel disproportionately upset 😭 probably mainly because I haven't kept much of my food down for the last few days and I'm feeling so weak and wobbly. Torn whether to call the Dr surgery or not... don't want to hassle them, and if I've missed my telephone slot for today then I'm not going to be able to speak to anyone anyway 😑

LookingAtTheStars89 · 01/08/2018 14:02

@5Makes9. We are booking a 16 week scan :-)

LookingAtTheStars89 · 01/08/2018 14:02

@jeanzbeanz. Why don't you phone 111?

AliceRR · 01/08/2018 14:21

@lookingatthestars brushing my teeth nearly makes me sick too! I have been sick a couple of times but usually resist.

I also get something in my chest but it’s basically like string hunger pains or trapped wind. I never know what it is but makes me feel sick and often happens not long after eating

Since2016 · 01/08/2018 14:22

We did a Christmas Nct group as DD was due in Jan and we’d only lived in the area for a short while. Won’t bother a second time - I have lots of friends through it / being on mat leave.

My sickness has definitely abated - 11 weeks on Friday and scan on Monday. I’m absolutely terrified. DD said on way home from nursery yesterday - mummy can I have a baby sister please. 🙄💔 she doesn’t know yet so I think they must have been talking about babies etc at nursery!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 01/08/2018 14:31

@AliceRR. 😂 I went to the GP with mine and told them to tell me that I wasn't having a heart attack lol

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/08/2018 15:00

Oh great thanks lookingatthestars, think I'll give it a try!

jeanzbeanz · 01/08/2018 15:27

Well the Dr did ring eventually. Said I shouldn't go back on cyclizine but I could try a different drug called pro.... something? Went to the pharmacy to collect it, and they wouldn't give it to me, they wanted to speak to the Dr first to ask why he had prescribed that rather than another drug!?

Is it normal for a pharmacy to not dispense what they are told?! So gutted - back home now and really hoping I'll get a call today saying I can collect my medicine - getting a bit too close to closing time for my liking 😔

happydays1802 · 01/08/2018 15:40

Hi everyone! First time poster here - baby #2 is due 18 Feb. I'm still suffering with morning sickness, but hoping it will stop soon... 12 week scan is booked for 10 August and looking forward to seeing this little one and how things are going... I've already got a bump (90% icecream I believe)

Hope everyone's morning sickness is starting to finish off xx

Since2016 · 01/08/2018 15:41

Possibly because it’s contraindicated in pregnancy @jeanzbeanz ? They’re just being super cautious I’d bet but can appreciate how frustrating it must be

jeanzbeanz · 01/08/2018 15:52

@Since2016 Yes I should be grateful for their care really. Anyway they did get hold of the Dr who stuck to his initial prescription, and so they have let me have it 😊

Anyone else had prochlorperazine? 🤔

Bluelagoon25 · 01/08/2018 15:52

I am finally starting to have days where I am not throwing up! Grin I am 12.3 and have my scan Friday... can't wait to make sure everything is okay Thanks

Notquiteagandt · 01/08/2018 15:52

@jeanzbeanz is it procetraline (sp?) Or something simular. That one melts on your gums so much easier to take if you are struggling to keep anything down. Didnt work for me but I know others that have sworn by it.

I am on Ondansetron now. Only thing thats touched the sides. Wonder drug.

Feel like a new woman. Down to 2x a day being sick from 50+ times.

The UK is so far behind with HG I think unfortunately alot comes down to what DR you see. So I really feel for you.

Its funny I am such a hollistic natural person. Very into alternitive therapies etc and a bit of a hippy.

Never thought id be begging for more drugs espesially during in pregnancy. But they are quite literally a life saver!!

Notquiteagandt · 01/08/2018 15:53

@jeanzbeanz cross posts. Yeah same one I just couldnt remember the spelling.

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/08/2018 15:58

Welcome happydays

Your post has reminded me of some very important advice the midwife gave me last week...it's ok to eat McFlurrys!!! I thought it wasn't so this was literally the best news ever for me, I had one on Sat and am tempted to have one tonight Grin

Camsie30 · 01/08/2018 15:59

I did NCT with my daughter but won't do it again. I will definitely do a hypnobirthing refresher though and start listening to my affirmations and meditations again at 20 weeks or so. It was amazing with my first birth.

Have eaten almost an entire bag of liquorice allsorts today and feel sick sick sick now!!

AliceRR · 01/08/2018 16:09

@lookingathestars89 not sure what it is but it not pleasant

@happydays my scan is on 10th too - counting down the days! I also have a bump but doesn’t seem to be my uterus so is either bloat or fat 🤣

jeanzbeanz · 01/08/2018 16:13

@Notquiteagandt 50+ times a day 😱 I need to count my blessings that it's only a handful of times a day for me!!!

I'm not keen on taking medicine normally either, no particular reason why, but now I've got morning sickness I'm just like give me aaaallll the drugs pleez!!

I agree that MS/HG is not taken seriously enough. My midwife just said "never mind hopefully you will feel better soon" when I told her I was struggling with it. To be fair, the Dr I have been speaking to has been absolutely great. I should have called him a lot sooner!

Possibly an unfair observation but I do sometimes wonder if men had experienced morning sickness... whether there would be more research into a "cure" or at least making it more bearable? Obviously it's very difficult to do (can't exactly test drugs on pregnant women!).
