SPD/PGP has been horrendous today, had to move my legs apart to lay down on sofa earlier and cried out in pain, felt like I was being ripped in two. Ugh!

SW2010 · 11/08/2018 10:34

Hi everyone. Just joined mumsnet as this is my first baby. Am due 17th dec and having a little boy. Look forward to getting to know you all. Will try and add my details to the spreadsheet. Smile

December2018 · 11/08/2018 11:06

Gemsie I'm so sorry you've been in pain babe... how you feeling this morning??

December2018 · 11/08/2018 11:07

SW2010 hi sweetie I'm due on the 19th and also my 1st and also expecting a little tiny man 💙

AGirlinLondon · 11/08/2018 11:19

Ughhhhhh @Gemsie I am sorry about your pain - have you managed to see someone yet?

I have had a palaver this weekend. My family are convinced they are attending the birth and being there the second it is over too. ‘You can’t stop us’ was said several times this morning. Any thoughts/advice? Sadly they know my due date and hospital we are at and plan to stay in the area from my due date on. I do not want any of this. I am V annoyed at them.

Gemsie1984 · 11/08/2018 12:43

Welcome @SW2010 - everyone is lovely here and there's a wealth of knowledge between us all, so if you have any questions, just ask :)

I've got physio for my SPD/PGP but only at the end of the month! I'll be 25 weeks. It feels better this morning, just have the pubic pain. It was the hip pain combined with the pubic pain that was unbearable. My OH response was "you didn't do that much walking today!" Trying to explain that it doesn't matter - it flares up when it wants to! 🙄 Not as grumpy today as I was like a bear with a sore head last night. Think it was the weeks of insomnia/restless legs and the pain was getting to me..

kaytees · 11/08/2018 13:18

@Gemsie1984 poor you - SPD is one of my greatest fears (had it in first preg and literally wake up every day expecting it to have reared it's ugly head). I think with OHs it's difficult for them to get it unless they've been through it too! Glad it's feeling better today, hopefully just a brief flare up for you. If all else fails, lie with a cushion between your legs at all times!

@AGirlinLondon that sounds so difficult. Do most hospitals not have rules around how many people can be in the room for a c section (I think you're having one but I may be wrong) - could you get the hospital to provide documentation to say they won't be allowed in? And with being there after there's usually pretty enforced visiting hours so they'd get booted out even if they did turn up right away. I'm sorry you're having to deal with it though, you really just want that time to be about you, partner and baby.

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 11/08/2018 14:12

@AGirlinLondon Wow saying 'you can't stop us' is such an aggressive statement, even when said playfully! I bet the hospital get this all the time and will be used to chucking out unwanted relatives. I'm starting at home and hopefully having a Home birth and have already told all family that it's going to me me, DP and one pre selected friend and then the doors are bolted 😂 maybe try and use this time to practice small boundaries in the run up and you might find they step back a bit? Good luck!!!!!

MagicalCreatures · 11/08/2018 16:59

@SW2010 hi Hun. If you have trouble doing the spreadsheet then let me know. But same here, first baby and a little boy. 😁

@AGirlinLondon that sounds awful. I’d hate hate hate that. It makes you so angry when people are like that. I think you need to toughen up abit and just put your foot down.

@Gemsie1984 sending you all my sympathy. My pain has been no where near as bad as yours sounds but all day today I’ve had these pulses of pain in my hip bone and my public bone. Worse when I move around or walk. X

My day just got better.. not!
My ex SIL sees my older two a lot and she has two children. Her little one has just had hand, foot and mouth. My daughter said she was feeling ropey earlier, didn't think much of it but now she's got ulcers on her tongue.. ☹️

AGirlinLondon · 11/08/2018 17:37

Thanks girls 😊

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 11/08/2018 19:04

No @Gemsie1984 !!!! Fingers crossed it's coincidence but sounds like a call to the doc is in order. What bad timing! Really feel for you x

balalalala · 12/08/2018 07:49

@agirlinlondon that sounds awful for you. Firstly, just don't tell them when you're in labour but also give the midwife clear instructions that you don't want visitors let in! What an added stress!

On a different note, the aldi baby and toddler event went online today and has some incredible deals! I might have gotten a bit carried away!

WhatAnAbsolutePenis · 12/08/2018 10:34

Just smile and ignore AGirlinLondon.
They may know your due date but the baby could come two weeks before or two weeks after and anywhere in between.

Just don't tell them the baby is here until you're home.

I hear this a lot, families demanding to be there, as though it's some kind of right.
But it's easily remedied.

And if you're being induced on say, day 11. Tell them you're not being induced until day 14.

AGirlinLondon · 12/08/2018 13:07

Thank you everyone for all your advice. I’ve been blown away by how selfish they are being. In their own way I’m sure it’s because they are excited and care - but it’s the last thing I need! 😊

0lgaDaPolga · 12/08/2018 19:57

@agirlinlondon you absolutely can stop them. The hospital won’t let them in if you don’t want them there. How awful of them to be putting themselves ahead of you when you will be the one giving birth. I barely wanted my husband there last time let alone anyone else!

December2018 · 12/08/2018 20:35

agirlinlondon I'm just reading thru now and I can't believe they even said that to you..
what a horrible predicament to put you in, I'd do as been said before and just not let them in... or I'd be very clear with them that you do not want them in there and put your foot down girl
Big hugs tho sounds like you need them chuck xx

December2018 · 12/08/2018 20:36

Hey gemsie hows your little girl today?
Has she still got ulcers in her mouth?

AGirlinLondon · 12/08/2018 22:09

Ha @olga I actually said that to them - I’m going to be kicking my OH out of the room, I’m sure of it! Thank you everyone for being so supportive and thanks for the hugs @December xx

MagicalCreatures · 13/08/2018 00:13

@December2018 yeah the poor girl had lots in her mouth now, she's in lots of pain with them and there's very little I can do apart from giving her analgesia, child bonjela and make sure she drinks loads of water. She's miserable. My son had one last night before going to bed so don't know what he'll wake up like. I don't have any but feel under the weather so not sure if I've contracted the virus too.

Stephisaur · 13/08/2018 09:13

Morning ladies!

Just trying to catch up...

@AGirlinLondon how crap of them! As above, the hospital won't stand for that nonsense :)
@Gemsie1984 sorry to hear about your pain :( hope your daughter's ulcers clear up soon. My dad always used to make me rinse with salt water, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone!
@MagicalCreatures look at that gorgeous bump! Mine is beginning to round out, but still resembles a cake belly ;)

AGirlinLondon · 13/08/2018 11:12

@magical looking good!!!

@balalala - thanks for the tip on Aldi! I bought a ton!

December2018 · 13/08/2018 12:12

MagicalCreatures beautiful bump!!
I'll post one when I finish work for the day I do love a bump pic! 😁

SW2010 · 13/08/2018 12:17

Happy Monday all

@December2018 Hi, its all very exciting, congrats on your little man.

@Gemsie1984 thanks, hope your pain is feeling a bit better. I have been struggling with hip pain too, after sleeping for the last few nights with a pillow between my legs its starting to ease off a bit.

@MagicalCreatures thanks, I managed to add my details on. Congrats on your little boy. Lovely bump.
Is there a facebook group that I could be added too?
