Dmp1984 · 13/08/2018 22:47

Hi everyone. I'm new here tonight. I'm due my 2nd boy on the 26th Dec 🤗 I'm looking into having a c-section though due to a slight complication with the large cyst I've had since 8 weeks...we thought we were 12 weeks but the scan said 8 weeks.

Look forward to getting to know you all.

December2018 · 14/08/2018 10:31

This is my bump pic ladies... feels like I'm expanding by the second lol 😂

Hi everyone, I've not been around for a while as currently in the process of moving house! It's dragging on a bit but hoping to be in in the next few weeks and then I feel I'll be able to really enjoy being pregnant and finally start buying baby stuff! Had my anomaly scan yesterday and found out we're having a little boy! Very happy and excited. Hope everyone is okay, I'm going to have a proper catch up on all the posts later!x

Stephisaur · 14/08/2018 12:24

Congrats Marth!

I went for my whooping cough jab today. Had a really lovely nurse and I was in and out quickly but didn’t feel rushed :)

Scan on Thursday to check bub’s heart again, hopefully he’s not hiding it this time 🙄 they couldn’t see any issues before but he wouldn’t stay still long enough for them to get what they needed!

AGirlinLondon · 14/08/2018 12:53

I also had whooping cough too, yesterday - my top tip with the NHS is to get the first appointment of the day - never late, always takes five mins 😊

DottyA · 14/08/2018 13:04

Congrats Martha!

Just back from my 20 week scan and it's another boy for me! Was convinced it was a girl. Names will be tough as I think we used the only boy name we could agree on last time.

Also got an anterior placenta which explains why I've not felt much - last time was the same though I felt nothing at all until around 22 weeks so at least I'm getting something.

Cakelaur · 14/08/2018 19:37

@marthvader @DottyA 💙💙💙💙💙 more boys!!! 😍 welcome to team blue ladies!!

I've just booked my whooping cough jab for 25 weeks once I'm back from hols.

0lgaDaPolga · 14/08/2018 19:47

@SW2010 I will pm you about the Facebook group

I’ve just booked my whooping cough jab too. I hope I don’t have any side effects. I felt really ill for a day or so after the jabs I needed for my honeymoon. I’ll make sure dh is not working away then in case I need help with our toddler.

Lilly1207 · 14/08/2018 19:54

Hi All, I've been off here for a little while and just mainly on the FB group! Forgot about this too!

@MagicalCreatures I don't know how to do the spreadsheet 🙈 sorry I'm rubbish at it!

@December2018 When I was trying to add my details on the spreadsheet I noticed that you're super close to me 😁

Xx

December2018 · 14/08/2018 20:18

Hey Lilly do you mean due date wise or location haha
Sorry I have no brain what so ever at the minute 😂

December2018 · 14/08/2018 20:19

@marthvader @DottyA team blue!! 💙💙💙💙 boy things are just super cute in the shops lately!
Congrats huns 😘

Lilly1207 · 14/08/2018 20:25

@December2018 both! 😂 I'm due on the 20th and I live in St Helens! Looks like most others live quite far away xx

December2018 · 14/08/2018 20:27

Haha omg that is close 😆
I've got family in St. Helens actually we go up quite regular
..... it's a small world we live in!

Gemsie1984 · 14/08/2018 21:11

I need a bit of a moan and I'm sorry. I'm frustrated and hormonal, in my defence.

So as I've said my daughter has hand foot & mouth, caught from her baby cousin. Classical symptoms of mouth ulcers, fever, malaise but she's had no rash on her hands or feet. My son caught it too, but to a lesser extent but my daughter was, and is, really suffering with it.

There's not much to be done with the illness, apart from comfort measures, fluids and analgesia. Anyway, she went to her grandads today, on his request. We're not talking at the moment (he and my dad requested I abort current pregnancy) but I'm being civil for the kids. He text me and said that the ulcers in Alex's mouth are really bad. I said yes, they're really bad. I had, previously in the day had a telephone consultation with the GP, to make sure I'm covering all bases. Reason for this is that HF&M is highly contagious. GP said nothing to do, apart from what I'm doing.

Step-dad then messages me: I'm taking Alex to the GP today at 4:40 as her ulcers are bad. He then drops her back.. texts me to say she has thrush and GP says it's not HF&M it's thrush that's caused the mouth ulcers?! How does that explain my niece, nephew, daughter and son all having the same symptoms? I text him and said that I think it's still HF&M but he said on who's diagnosis? Yours? The doctor has told me it's not.. it's got me raging and just feel like he shouldn't have taken it on himself to take a potentially infectious child to the GP! Then undermine me.. it's his style but I'm getting so pissed off with his antics ☹️

MagicalCreatures · 14/08/2018 21:36

@Lilly1207 list all the details on here and I’ll add them for you.
@DottyA and @marthvader congrats on your little boys!!!!! I agree, there are some gorgeous boy bits in the shops at the minute. I’ve got so much already in the sales.
@Gemsie1984 you really are having a tough time aren’t you. Rant all you want!!!
I’d be so angry if someone took it upon themselves to make that decision and take my child without my consent. Some people do it because they genuinely want to help but judging by your dad and grandads attitude lately, I’d suggest they are just sticking their noses in.

Thanks for the bump comments. I’m loving it at the moment.
Love your bump too @December2018

Can anybody help me please? Looking for antenatal classes around southend-leigh-Thorpe bay Essex area. I want to learn about breast feeding and birthing not yoga!! How much should I also expect to pay? I’ve been quoted £88 for a 2 hour workshop which seems a lot- thanks

Ameliaclem · 15/08/2018 00:00

Another question on a seperate note.. has anybody used grobags before? What tog do I buy and how many? Thanks again :)

RomPom · 15/08/2018 07:27

@Ameliaclem this was my go to guide when I had my daughter. We've got quite a warm house so I was always trying to make sure she wasn't too warm.

Arriving late but I'm here helllloooo!

balalalala · 15/08/2018 08:22

We used sleeping bags but you need to wait until baby is big enough. We had a grow bag, but it was my least favourite brand. I liked the white company 2.5tg ones, the John Lewis 1.5tg ones and the jojo or aden anais muslin ones!

Cakelaur · 15/08/2018 08:26

@Gemsie1984 sorry for all the grief babe. Sounds like he was just sticking his nose in. Hope the kids are all ok. And hopefully the rest of pregnancy can start to go smoothly for you.

@RomPom that is an excellent chart thank you.

@Ameliaclem so I booked nct classes in SW London and they're £250. But that's 6 classes and a reunion (I think this one is more about making friends! Haha)

DottyA · 15/08/2018 08:53

@Ameliaclem we've always just had a couple of 2.5 bags and then more or fewer layers of clothes with them depending on the temp. Sometimes a blanket over the top if really cold. I never bought the thinner ones - just used a cellular blanket/nothing on hot nights. Though I would have if I'd known it would be so hot for so long!

I think the minimum weight for most 0-6 months bags is 8 pounds so you might not be able to use them at first - we just had blankets tucked into his nest thing for the first few weeks.

kaytees · 15/08/2018 10:38

@Gemsie1984 you can't seem to catch a break at the moment - I really feel for you!

@Ameliaclem antenatal classes are generally pretty expensive sadly - NCT is good for learning about birth in my experience, plus it's a good way to meet other local mums. I did it with my son and found it useful. And on the gro bags I am a big fan - still using them now and he's 2 and 4 months (I know I need to upgrade to bedding but I love them so much!). The guide @RomPom posted is what we used too, the 2.5 fog are the most versatile. We used them from birth (my son was over 9 pounds) and funnily enough one of my non gro bag favourites was the Ikea own brand one!

DottyA · 15/08/2018 12:11

I found NCT useful too - we don't meet up much any now everyone's working but our whatsapp group is still pretty active. It's really good to have a few people at the same stage as you nearby.

There's not much in the classes themselves you can't find out easily online or in books but it was still good to go through it, and I think my partner found it especially useful. He didn't really read much about the birth/feeding etc but going to the class meant he knew what to expect.
