Ooh not long to go now guys! A fellow 'lots of braxton hicks' mum here, I didn't get them much in first pregnancy so they still freak me out a bit. All the bump hardening etc is what happens for me.

@AGirlinLondon period cramps and lower back ache is exactly how my first labour started. Took me ages to realise that's what it was, you sound much more on it! You'll thank yourself that the bathroom is done before baby arrives - we had ours done when my son was 10 days old and it was a nightmare. I just hope you get a nice pre baby bath in the new bathroom!

AGirlinLondon · 06/11/2018 11:02

Haha thank you @kaytees - I have been using the bath even though the bathroom is a complete state - literally bathing in a building site. I need my bath!!!!

AGirlinLondon · 06/11/2018 11:10

I also feel like surely there can’t be any more room in there - any second time mums ant advice on that?!

0lgaDaPolga · 06/11/2018 21:53

I definitely feel like there’s no room left. I can feel him move in every part of my bump at once! I think it was like this with my son towards the end too. I had a growth scan last week at 36 weeks and he was an estimated 6lb5 so should have a little room left to grow.

Loads of Braxton Hicks here too especially when I’m tired or haven’t drank much. I was having loads yesterday and was feeling a bit paranoid as my husband is working away in New York at the moment so could do without going into labour right now!

AGirlinLondon · 07/11/2018 14:45

Tried my aniball today. HILARIOUS. 😑

December2018 · 07/11/2018 15:05

Erm ladies.... what's an aniball
Isn't that a horrible film about a doll 😂

balalalala · 07/11/2018 15:51

@agirlinlondon I tried it yesterday for the first time. I was genuinely worried I was going to give myself another tear! Haven't built up the courage to do it again today yet... I mentioned it in an appointment I had yesterday with the senior midwife at my hospital (got the all clear for birth centre!) and she made me doubt it when she asked why you would ever want to squeeze something that size out more times in life than your babies.... I'm definitely not planning to get all the way up to 30cm.
@december2018 it's basically a stretching training device....

December2018 · 07/11/2018 15:53

So it's a ball you put in your fadge...
so it's a fannyball 😂😂
I'll have a look at those sounds.... interesting!

December2018 · 07/11/2018 15:54

..... what if it gets stuck!!....😖🙀

kaytees · 07/11/2018 16:34

Oh is that what an aniball is! I saw an ad for it but didn't pay much attention. Is it designed to prevent tears?

@AGirlinLondon the 'surely there can be no more room' is such an unpleasant stage... has your baby dropped down a bit yet? I found it a tiny bit easier once my son had (but he was a big 'un so there actually wasn't any room for him!).

I've been getting braxton hicks (at least I hope they are) consistently in my back since yesterday, with period cramps and general heaviness down low. I don't want to be an idiot worrying over nothing, so if anyone else has had this and can reassure me (so I don't end up going to hospital in a panic) that would be wonderful!

December2018 · 07/11/2018 17:00

Kaytees might sound a bit daft but I was having exactly the same a couple of days ago, I thought I was in labour the cramps where that bad, especially in my lower back, it turned out I was just very constipated, after a... ahem!
Poo! And lots of water it stopped

balalalala · 07/11/2018 18:11

@december2018 that's exactly what it is lol! I don't want to think about it getting stuck... You can deflate it down to it's smallest size though at any stage. It's smallest size is terrifying though lol!

kaytees · 07/11/2018 19:59

@December2018 not daft at all - totally know what you mean as I had that problem a lot in second trimester! Everything is running as it should in that department now haha. I shall wait and see what surprises my body has in store for me tomorrow...

Athers666 · 08/11/2018 13:13

Phoned in sick today. Am in so much pain with ribs and backache that I just couldn't face it! Just cannot cope! Getting Braxton Hicks frequently as well whilst walking around. Just pure hell isn't it in this final stretch! Can't believe we'll have babies next month though, omg. Anybody excited yet? Or just too busy struggling through the days/nights?

MagicalCreatures · 08/11/2018 15:53

Loving the Aniball/Fannyball chat. I must admit, I had to look it up when you mentioned it. Never heard of it before. When I found a picture of it, I tilted my head to the side like a dog In real confusion, and then when I got what it was/meant for, just pushed myself laughing. Even considered deleting my search history incase DH though I was in the lookout for a new friend.
😂
@Athers666 you poor thing. How many weeks are you. I’m not struggling with the rib problem yet. I’m only 33 weeks tomorrow though so maybe I’ve still got it to come.
Finally back home now with a new bathroom and I slept like a dream last night. Even snores to my hearts content. That’s coz I’ve got abit of this sore throat going around though. I sound very sexy husky at the moment.
Getting really excited and mum came round today to help me spritz the living room. Set up my little rocking crib in there too so just gotta put the sheets on when we’re ready x

Athers666 · 08/11/2018 15:59

@magicalcreatures I'm 34 weeks, 35 on Saturday. I hope the painful ribs doesn't happen to you at all, lol, it's so awful.
The rocking crib sounds adorable. We've just set up the Moses basket recently and it has a rocking stand, too cute. I hope he likes it!

kaytees · 08/11/2018 16:20

Ohhh @Athers666 isn't rib pain hideous! I haven't had it yet this time but remember it from first baby, it's exhausting. Has the rest helped?

I bit the bullet and went to day assessment today - they were fantastic. There did seem to be the odd tightening but nothing worrying. Turns out baby is breech, back to back and oblique which would be causing me some back pain too. Not a cooperative baby, I think!

MagicalCreatures · 08/11/2018 17:31

@Athers666 here’s my rocking crib. It’s a John Lewes one which I got off EBay for £10. It’s almost immaculate condition so I wiped it thoroughly over with Dettol wipes and just bought a new mattress for £7.
I love it.
It’s crazy the things we do and buy for them isn’t it. Hoping they’ll like it. That how I feel about everything. And people keep reminding me that he wouldn’t know the difference between that and a cardboard box 😂

Looks lovely! 😍

AGirlinLondon · 08/11/2018 20:38

Hi everyone - @magical your crib is lovely! And @kaytees sounds like you’ve been through the mill a bit - stay strong! @athers I think you did right staying at home. It’s getring tougher.

So - time for an aniball update!!! 😂

Today was day 2. It’s definitely up there (literally...) with the weirdest things I’ve ever done in my life and having never given birth before I have no idea if it compares. But I have the tightest pelvic floor known to man, and it’s teaching me to let go a bit. Even though I KNOW this whole ‘breathe baby out’ thing is utter bollocks, I sort of understand the concept having tried this. You really do have to let go and relax or you’re doomed. But anyway - my baby’s head is already 33cm at 36 weeks so god help me.

balalalala · 08/11/2018 21:08

Yes, I totally get what you mean. I think it's teaching me to relax and let my body do it's thing.... When I had my daughter I was so high on gas and air at that point and honestly can't remember the sensation or anything so I can't even tell you if it's similar, but I'm hoping that this time round I'll be a bit more with it and when they tell me not to push I'll get the idea a bit better! I'm also hoping that it'll be easier this time round as I was a keen horse rider previously and therefore had a strong pelvic floor. Having only ridden once in the past 2.5 years, I'm hoping they've relaxed!

emwithme · 09/11/2018 11:39

Off for a presentation scan in half an hour, to see if Madam is still breech. I can't work out whether she's turned (although she's been her super-fidgety self all week, just like her mum) but there's either a head or an arse in my ribs!

balalalala · 09/11/2018 12:20

Fingers crossed for you!

December2018 · 09/11/2018 12:26

I'm having a terrible day ladies I just need to get this off my chest...
ok so... my mum has had a terrible drink problem since I was about 12 and she's been sober for 10 months doing really well, anyway last night she got completely hammered (she's a nasty drunk) and she punched my brother in the face, he had a glass in his hand with juice in it...
well me being a stupid arse, tried to separate them (I know stupid) I've slipped and landed in the glass on the floor on my knee, so I've got a hole in my knee about an inch long and it's down to the bone, I felt no movement from baby on my way to the hospital last night but we got checked and he's fine, thank god!!!
But I feel like I've been hit by a bus this morning I'm aching all over, and I'm so upset I can't believe she's done this to me when I've got less than 6 weeks to go
I've just cried & cried & cried I'm heartbroken
How can I let this baby have anything to do with her?? But she's still my mum... I don't know what to do.
Sorry super long post but I don't feel like I've got anyone to talk too xx

AGirlinLondon · 09/11/2018 12:37

@December2018 you poor thing I am so, so sorry. Alcoholism in the family is an evil destructive force. You need to put you first now. Pull up the drawbridge, get away from everyone and everything if you can. Be selfish. I’m sure you have spent many years trying to fix your mum and it’s so disappointing that she isn’t putting you first but you know it is a disease and there is no reasoning with it. Please look after yourself and take strength from the ones around you who care about you and love you. You know you need to focus now. X
