So what do you use until baby is big enough for a sleeping bag. It’s gonna be cold when we’ve all got our newborns x

My first was a february baby and I just used cellular blankets...also he wore a vest and babygrow most of the time for the first few weeks.

Stephisaur · 15/08/2018 13:55

@Ameliaclem it's worth seeing whether your hospital does any antenatal classes. We're going to one at our hospital in October, which is an all day thing, and then I have a separate BFing class booked the following Thursday as part of that. They're free to patients of that hospital.

I have signed up for a NCT yoga class, mainly because it includes tea and cake Grin but it also seemed less hippy dippy than some of the others. I do love yoga anyway, but some of them sounded a bit too woo even for me!

AGirlinLondon · 15/08/2018 15:18

This gro bag chat is very helpful indeed! Did anyone swaddle? I’ve bought a couple and a gro bag to see what the baby prefers?

balalalala · 15/08/2018 21:00

Yes, we swaddled till she was big enough for a grow bag. Reckon she must have been about 6 or 8 weeks. When it was cold, we put an extra blanket round too, but remember that each time you wrap it it counts as a layer. We still use a sleeping bag now at very nearly 2 but it's just a muslin jojo one. Dd is rather obsessed with it so not sure it's going anywhere soon! We did switch back to just a blanket for a while but the muslin bag with just a nappy underneath was great for the hot weather.

balalalala · 15/08/2018 21:02

Also, on NCT, it was the best thing we did last time. I still see some of the girls a few times a week either with or without dc, and the whole group still meet up from time to time. Not sure what I'm going to do this time round without them going through the same thing!

kaytees · 15/08/2018 21:20

I had totally forgotten about swaddling! I need to go and look for some. My son broke out of his swaddle so many times in hospital the midwife just gave him to me. But maybe this baby won't have the strength and appearance of a sumo wrestler...

Hi ladies a bit TMI but....
I went out shopping today and sort of felt a bit of a gush (down below)
So I went to the loo and there was nothing there, it happened again about 30 mins ago sort of felt like I let out a bit of wee 😖
So I went the loo again and my pj bottoms are wet... I don't think it's wee, it Dosent smell at all but I'm worrying myself now and I don't know what to think.... sorry if that Doesn't even make sense I'm so tired today...

Thank you everybody for all your advise! Really helped with the gro bags... I have got 1x 2.5 tog and will get a selection.

With the antenatal classes I think the one that was £88 for 2 hours seems excessive I will look into NCT and ask my midwife! Can’t seem to find anything on google except yoga!

Gemsie1984 · 15/08/2018 22:51

@December2018 a similar thing happened to me last week but I put mine down to weakening pelvic floor. Put a pad on and keep an eye overnight and if you're still leaking then go to FMU to get assessed. Fingers crossed for you x

MagicalCreatures · 15/08/2018 23:32

@December2018 when you wake up in the morning, stand up and see if anymore comes out. Th and have a pad ready to catch it if it does. Then take it straight to hospital and they will do a ph test on it to see if it’s urine or amniotic fluid.
It’s very rare apparently to leak fluid at this stage but best to get checked just incase. They can also do an internal swab on you. This is what my pediatric nurse friend told me anyway.
I’ve been scared stiff of it happening as I’m constantly finding wet patches and feeling gushes down there but I am convinced now it’s either little bits of urine (I have a bladder condition so that wouldn’t be surprising) or just very runny, watery discharge.
If you’ve been drinking a lot of water coz of the weather then there is a chance that your urine would be so diluted that it wouldn’t have much of a smell.
But definitely check in the morning. Apparently if it is amniotic fluid, then it will leak and pool in the vagina over night. So when you stand it will just come out. X

@December2018 I had something similar, though much later in my pregnancy, where the midwife thought my hind waters had gone. She sent me up to the birth centre and they just put this paper test in you and they can tell if it's amniotic fluid. You wouldn't even know they were testing you, quick and didn't feel it. If you're worried, pop up and see them. It's always a case of safe than sorry, the midwives will always say the same. But yeah, it's probably your pelvic floor going! Sneezing, laughing, coughing is going to be laced with fear from now on!

December2018 · 16/08/2018 06:36

Awww thanks my loves!
I fell asleep shortly after posting lol
Well I've just stood up and nothing fell out 😂
I think I'll put a panty liner on and see what happens I'm working from 7-2 today and if it happens again I'll take myself up to the hospital when I finish
I think the diluted wee thing is probably right I'm drinking sooo much water

balalalala · 16/08/2018 20:57

@December2018 how have you been today?

Trailbunny · 17/08/2018 09:50

Hi,

Im new to this and my first baby. I'm due 19th Dec 2018 and would love to join the group please.

We had our second part of the 20 week scan the other day as the baby was facing the wrong way at the 20 week. Got some good pictures. There's a person in there!!!!

Look forward to chatting with you all :) xxxxx

Paranormalbouquet · 17/08/2018 11:03

December I always have lots of discharge when pregnant. Seems to be pretty common.

Does anyone else have a really high bump? Mine is just under my ribs at 22 weeks!

December2018 · 17/08/2018 12:37

Hey hunni ive been ok no more problems so far so I'm hoping it was just a one off 🙀

December2018 · 17/08/2018 12:37

balalalala · 17/08/2018 12:45

Great news! Fingers crossed it stays that way.

December2018 · 17/08/2018 13:24

Paranormal mine is quite high I've started getting round under my bust... looks more like a beach ball 😂

FluffyBunnyTails · 17/08/2018 14:46

@Paranormalbouquet mine is high too. I told myself it's just fat but it's hard. Looks like I've stuck a ball to my stomach

AGirlinLondon · 17/08/2018 14:57

I am allllllllll bump. Fairly high and round and hard. Rest of me doesn’t seem to have changed (yet!)

DoAsDreamersDo · 17/08/2018 16:09

Welcome @Trailbunny x

my bump is definitely high up! When I'm sat down at work it's definitely up under my bust! Yesterday i had to get up and go for a walk to see if she'd move down at all (she did and then spent all night kicking me in my bits instead!)

Bora8 · 17/08/2018 17:10

My bump is sooooo low, I just look like I have a big muffin top 😂

Cakelaur · 17/08/2018 17:13

My bump is so low!! 😂 I have to walk around holding it most days. He's sat transverse right at the bottom and then placenta below that so it's really heavy down low!! I waddle already. Almost 23 weeks
