becklespeckledfrog · 01/06/2007 18:39

Has anyone heard from Pecka lately? Been wondering how she is.

bambino1andbump · 01/06/2007 18:43

I was thinking that this morning about Pecka. Didn't know if I had missed anything. Hope she is ok.
My friend is now in full established labour not long now!!! Can't wait til its me!

ConnieDescending · 01/06/2007 20:57

joined this thread a while ago, haven't posted much but have read it. I noticed my name has been deleted from the due date list and have just read another thread where several posters said they hated me.

Was just wondering if I am welcome on this thread or not? please be honest

cazzybabs · 01/06/2007 21:29

ConnieDescending - I have no idea what you have or haven't done on other threads, but as long as you are not racist, nasty, etc etc you are more than welcome. we like (well actually I shall speak for myself nice fluffy people)

but not being rude or offensive I don't remember you at all..are you sure you have been on this thread?

ohh have ordered some maternity clothes!

cazzybabs · 01/06/2007 21:32

Oh beg your pardon I have found you on the other thread - sorry. god I am being rude!

ohh and no idea why but you don't like too fluffy so Iguess this thread is not fluffy but more like jagged toenails stabbing you in the night as you roll over (bloody dh)...

cazzybabs · 01/06/2007 22:26

Have posted my scan photo on my profile page! Mind you 1 14 week old fetus looks very much like another!

AHHHHH think dd2 is allowing me to practise before Dec. She is lying in the cot crying!

mad4girls · 01/06/2007 22:44

cazzybabs · 01/06/2007 23:05

Have persuaded dh to go for a 4d scan at about 26 weeks! Am so excited!

It is so crap you only get 1 scan! Should be the same for everyone. we all need at least 2 scans!

cazzybabs your photo is brill. Far better than mine.

Conniedescending - like someone said I think the due date list was prob taken off an old one. Add yourself in. Of course you're welcome. Saw your thread on the other board - hope you're feeling a bit better about your preg now. Have you got your first scan soon?

Was very bad last night. Had a small glass of white wine with a chinese (over 13 wks now and followed by a big pint glass of water). It was lush - made me feel almost human again, and not just a baby making machine as my dp has started lovingly calling me. How romantic!

Nbg · 02/06/2007 09:09

Oh BB, I took a small bottle of Peroni Beer out of the fridge a couple of days ago and dh was stood watching me saying no no.
I dont normally drink but I could have just drunk that.

Cazzybabs, great news on the scan and wow at your picture! It really is very clear.

Someone was asking about Pecka? I spoke to her the other day and shes ok. Still sick but she thinks it could be easing a bit now.

I've woke up this morning with stinking cold again and poor ds cant open one of his eyes. So it'll be trawling round to a walk in place at some point today!

Housemum · 02/06/2007 09:29

Hiya - miss MN for one day and there are so many messages to catch up on!

Good to hear that Pecka's still holding on there - hope the sickness goes soon.

Beachbunni - you were asking about cribs - a baby can sleep in a cot/cotbed from day 1 but most people use a crib or moses basket or carrycot as they are smaller, and a little tiny baby can look a bit "lost" in a huge bed. If you do use a cot, you need to put baby on it's back to sleep, in a "feet to foot" position ie you put them in the cot with their feet near the bottome, and when you put the covers on, most of the cover is tucked under the mattress and there is just enough to pull up to the chin (easier to see in pictures - MW will give you info about that at some point - it's so little babies don't end up under the covers). If you are getting a pushchair system with a carrycot (rigid sides and a mattress, not the soft squishy type) you can use this as a crib usually.

Sit-ups - TheLady is right - I did a postnatal exercise class and the instructor told us that if you do sit ups in pregnancy or before the muscles have gone back together, you can end up with a v unattractive "hollow" in your tummy as the muscles tone up but stay apart and the skin sags in the middle!! (No danger if you've been doing sit-ups already, the muscles don't start to separate yet so don't panic, but just don't do sit-ups any more)

BeachBunni · 02/06/2007 09:48

Nbg - Dp was hanging over me making comments like 'you're enjoying that a bit too much' and 'you'd better not turn into a lush'. As if.

Thank you for the crib info housemum. I Wouldn't have bought one myself but since it's a pressie I'll use it. Yes the mw gave me loads of info on how to lie the baby. It was quite good as she explained how growbags and bumpers were unsafe which I didn't know but makes sense. Makes me wonder why they sell things like that if they're not safe.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 02/06/2007 09:59

Hiya

As NBG says Im still hanging in here but just very sick of feeling sick.

Feel really depressed about it today, my DH is working a horrible run of shifts at the moment so I'm on my own a lot and feel like the whole day is taken up with just treading water and trying to get through it.

Im PRAYING for some energy and freedom from the sickness soon (Im nearly 11 weeks)

I keep thinking its getting better then having another horrible day.

Still havent had appointment through for 12 week scan, wont truly relax until I see a baby on that screen!!!!

How is everyone else feeling weight gain wise? The diet of carbs to curb sickness is definitely taking its tole here .

BeachBunni · 02/06/2007 10:12

Hi Pecka. Good to hear from you again.

Not much conscillation (can't spell today) but at least the sickness is a good sign. Do you have your scan next wk?

I haven't really seemed to put on much weight, altho very lucky and had no ms, but my stomach has started ballooning out the past couple of days. I'm beginning to look pregnant now judging by the amount of people I've had rubbing my belly

Housemum · 02/06/2007 10:17

Pecka - I have been stuffing my face, but only gained 2 pounds. However, the waist has gone - I am so lardy at the mo, but no bump yet. Shopping in Mothercare is the only way to make me feel slim!!!! Am going to a wedding evening do in a few weeks and tried on the dress I was hoping to wear (bias cut, slightly stretchy fabric, was a bit big last summer) - well, after squeezing it over the norks, it looked like a sack of spuds. So venturing to the maternity shops this afternoon to see if there's something pretty but that I can wear ordinarily as well, I don't want to spend a load on a single-occasion outfit.

Beachbunni - what's the grobag advice? I used these with DD2 - I don't think you can use them from birth, but i used them from 3 months. Bumper advice keeps changing, I made a really pretty one for DD1 but by the time DD2 was born they were a total no-no. Then by the time she could sit up, the advice was you can use one until they can sit up!

cazzybabs · 02/06/2007 10:18

Pecka - yes to the diet of carbs whilst starving off morning sickness is not helping the waist line! I have to eat else I feel terrible and yet it is not like I have done anything all day apart from lie bed so therefore I need very few calories!

BeachBunni · 02/06/2007 10:19

Obviously can't read either. You don't have the date for you're scan yet - is there anywhere you can ring to check? I hated waiting for my date to come through - running for the post to be disappointed when it wasn't anything from the hospital.

My dp has been away quite a bit too so I can sympathise. His isn't work related - more golf, stag wkends aways, trips to scotland to see friends etc. Not really minding, quite enjoying watching crap tv, painting nails, catching up on reading. Might feel different if I was feeling awful and he has promised this wkend is for the two of us.

cazzybabs · 02/06/2007 10:22

We have to phone up and book our scans ourself! And also if we have had an early one becaue of bleeding etc then we don't get another one ar 12 weeks!

Oh god dd has just spelt her bloody hamma beads all over the floor AGAIN!

BeachBunni · 02/06/2007 10:25

The mw told me not to use grobags for a year because of the chance of overheating. If they have a fit because of overheating it can possibly damage the brain. She said after a year they can pretty much pull themselves out of it if they get too hot.

The advice seems to change so much. I had a friend's mum tell me to prevent cotdeath put the baby on it's stomach!! Mind you her youngest is 24 so that's going back a few years.

ConnieDescending · 02/06/2007 13:25

Thankyou.

I have my scan this coming week so am a bit nervous.

Grobags are a godsend imo! Particulaly as we'll have winter babies. Most of them come with thermometers which tell you wat layering of clothes to use on baby to avoid overheating.

cazzybabs · 02/06/2007 15:58

We use Grobags - trust me in December in our house there is no blooming chance of over heating.

BTW anyone else napping in the afternoon - I just can't stay awake! God I don't want to go back to work! And i can't seem to drink enough at the moment - I guess it because I am must ne increasing my blood supply, but finding things I want to drink is very difficult. I do quite fancy a nice cold larger or some pimms though......

fifisworld · 02/06/2007 16:45

hello everyone

Ive got my scan on Tuesday, Im excited and terrified at the same time.
Ive been absolutley ill with sickness and now have a sore throat virus which is making me feel worse, ive had to take the past 2 days off work as i can hardly move.
The joys of pregnancy

Curlygirly · 02/06/2007 17:23

Hi everyone.
Had my midwife appointment thru and wouldn't it just be during the one week this year we are away. Just knew that would happen. Have re booked it for the end of the month. Have scan next week so that is something to look forward to.

As for grobags. Best invention ever.

mad4girls · 02/06/2007 17:52

hello
cazzybabs-know what you mean about no chance of overheating, we only have gas fires in living and dinning room no centrel heating here, also your normally get 2scans here 1@ 12wks 1@ 20wks but because i had an early dating scan at 9 wks they said i didnt need a 12 wk one, how unfair is that, as dd2 said when looking at 9 wk photo "thats not a baby just a blob" so it would have been nice to see a shape of a baby.

having peacful afternoon as my mum took dd's out just stuffed my face with kfc twister yum yum, terrible i know but keep craving them.no wonder i look like a whale already

pecka-glad your still around we were getting worried about, sorry your feeling rough hun.

on a more worrying note i havent been sick for 2 days (v.strange)and getting a bit paranoid that all is not well as always been sick during all my pregnancies right till the end, hoping its just because been having lie ins due to not having to get up for school, will be very worried if not been sick by monday.
