Hello, girls, ben feeling rotten this afternoon but feeling okay now.
Hope you are well! Boy that list is getting really long!! Welcome Betty!

buzzybee · 27/06/2007 07:51

Beachbunni, I guess my reasons for not telling work are threefold: first I work for a Big 4 CA firm so very male dominated and conservative. I'd rather they looked at my face and listened to what I was saying rather than looked at my tummy (or GF, touched it!!!) and appeared to listen but were actually thinking "she's not going to be here much longer so I won't take her seriously". You may think that sounds far fetched but I've seen it before! Second given I'm not in a relationship there's going to be a fair amount of surprise and I guess gossip about me. I'm a senior manager here and this is the last thing most people will be expecting! And finally, I'm still not 100% sure what I'd do if it came back as DS positive. If I did decide to terminate I'd rather share that with a select few people rather than the world. But you're right I will have to take at least 1 day off but can probably manage that without too much problem - I had surgery for Endometriosis 2 years ago so a day off for "womens problems" would surprise no-one.

buzzybee · 27/06/2007 07:52

Has everyone else told their work / work colleagues then?

MotherofZ · 27/06/2007 08:06

Yep told my work place at 8 weeks or more like they figured it out! Was getting such bad morning sickness, that every morning when I walked into work the smell of the 'cleaned' offices would trigger of my ms. I'd spend a good while in the ladies loos and by the time I came back, my make up had all run etc (looked awful!)....and when it was happening every morning people more or less figured out I was having ms!
Thankfully the ms has stopped now...feel so much better..is this the start of the bloom...???

skidaddle · 27/06/2007 08:39

buzzy - totally understand why you don't want to tell work - is there someone there you really trust there that you could confide in - that way they could fight your corner and make excuses for you if necessary -it's much easier for someone else to do it for you.

Beachbunni - now that is a bit much - lifting your top and kissing your belly!!! especially when it is at that inbetween stage when it could be mistaken for just being a podgy!! What did you do? Just smile politely?

Welcome bettymama

Got rip roaring urine infection
But pleased actually because I was feeling so bloody god damn awful and just felt like I was moaning all the time anf the thought of feeling so hrrid for another 6 months was panicking me ...so started antibiotics yesterday day off today got my brazilian at 10:30 then gonna go to bed till midwife appt at 2pm and hopefully will start feeling better

Neuro · 27/06/2007 10:34

Macdoodle i had my last brazilian two weeks ago and OUCH the increased blood flow downstairs made it so painful, so i won't have that much off in future. 9 months = no periods and no painful ladybits waxes HURRAY! Anyway good luck with yours which would appear to be starting any minute now....
Buzzybee - I'm in a male dominated office but i'm the one that dominates them. However your office sounds a bit scary! Don't blame you for keeping secret. I havne't told anyone at work yet, except for the nice accounts lady. She thinks everyone has already guessed but only because my tummy sticks out a bit. Think no one is saying anything as they prob wouldn't dare suggest a woman has put on weight!
So good luck avec le amnio. Not an easy decision I am sure.
Anytime you want some high fives from another single pregnant lady, just yell (or type). I can't say i am looking forward to explaining why i will be a single parent as it somehow looks careless even though i totally planned it. So i won't! I'll tell them it is a planned, assisted conception as i did not want to miss the boat. If anyone can't be happy for me then they can just keep their comments to themselves. As long as the people around you that you love think it's good news, that's all that counts.
My jeans are even tighter today ARRGGHHH but my hair looks great!
Have a nice day all X

suey2 · 27/06/2007 10:35

I told everyone at work when i was 6 weeks- as i am the boss i wanted an excuse for being cranky and not have everyone think i was turning into the bitch from hell!

mimicakey · 27/06/2007 10:37

I think it's hilarious when people touch or point at my belly because I have to explain that bubba is waaaaay lower than they think!

MotherofZ · 27/06/2007 10:46

I've had a few people at work come up to me and ask me if I am preggers and I love winding them up and pretending I'm not and saying 'Are you telling me I'm fat??'..they quickly run away!

MamaMaiasaura · 27/06/2007 10:48

lol moptherz - that is funny

skidaddle · 27/06/2007 10:50

my God all you mad women with your brazilians - can't think of anything worse, in fact makes me eyes water just thinking about it

  • and when you've got a UTI to boot !!!

Neuro - it's so funny - no-one dares to mention the word pregnant just in case you're not! Think it took about 7 months last time for people to assume. I'm still waiting for someone to ask me if I'm pg and me reply, no - why? with a hurt/confused look on my face - don't know if I'll be able to pull it off in reality though

skidaddle · 27/06/2007 10:51

crossed posts motherofz - we are obviously as wicked as each other

skidaddle · 27/06/2007 10:52

lovely scan awen - mine looks a a big splodge of tomato ketchup

Housemum · 27/06/2007 10:54

Mimicakey - would be VERY gross if people started touching you lower??!!

Have consigned last-but-one waist with buttons to the box at the bottom of the wardrobe (wore my jeans for half an hour this mornign and realised it just wasn't working!) Have one pair of trousers to go then it's maternity all the way...

Anyone else find that they went from looking fat to looking pregnant overnight?

MotherofZ · 27/06/2007 10:57

cute scan pic - my one shows the little one sticking it's arm up - like a little wave!

MamaMaiasaura · 27/06/2007 11:03

thanks skiddadle & motherofz - havent managed to show my mum pic yet so really wanted to share With ds1 I had scan at 8 weeks and 20 weeks and I never realised how developed they are at 13 weeks.

I am looking like a hobbit at the moment with a fat belly - no hairy toes (shaved ) Cant wait till bump develops into proper preg bump. I still had a small jelly belly after ds - does that stop you looking pregnant and make you look just fat?

skidaddle · 27/06/2007 11:07

shaving your TOES? What is the world coming to??? Think jelly belly soon subsides as nice hard uterus pushes outwards

MamaMaiasaura · 27/06/2007 11:10

only my big toes god I must sound like a right hairy beast.

Neuro · 27/06/2007 11:15

Awen - LOVELY PICS!
I will post mine next week when i've come clean about being preg.

MotherofZ · 27/06/2007 11:16

how you going to shave your toes when you have a big bump?
i remember asking my hubby to cut my toe nails towards the end of my last pregnancy...

MamaMaiasaura · 27/06/2007 11:18

Dont knwo waht I am going to do about tending my lady garden either No way am I leaving it to go naive espicially as I hadnt tidied when ds put an early appearance in. I was sooo embarrassed

MamaMaiasaura · 27/06/2007 11:19

native not naive

Bettymamma · 27/06/2007 11:20

Thankyou for the welcomes - boy you lot are busy on this thread!

Awen - I shave my toes too don't worry. and I've turned into a hairy yeti recently. Duedate and hairy monster buddy!

I don't mind people looking at my tummy but staring at my boobs is quite annoying. My boss was doing it yesterday and then said "this really is the best thing since sliced breast" and then corrected himself quickly. Bless him - the old perv.

Told work officially yesterday. They are mainly men so they didn't have a clue. They are like yours buzzybee - once they know, its all downhill. Haven't been taken seriously since my dd. They've been quote "expecting this"!!.

Bettymamma · 27/06/2007 11:20

my lady garden is more a shrubbery!
