Hello all and welcome to this month's thread!!
Let's all stop feeling sick and start expanding now

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Furrymummy · 11/06/2007 20:39

Hey everyone - beckle congrats on the scan
Been worried as past few days had brown discharge, last time I had this I miscarried a few days later However, DH did some research and apparently it often occurs at the end of the 1st trimester as your body gets rid of the blood that was once cushioning the beanie. So completely normal! Am some what relieved now

Housemum · 11/06/2007 23:58

Caz10 - do any of your local branches of New Look have the maternity range? Ours does - I picked up a really nice summer top for £3 on their sale rail - worth a try.

MacDoodle - this is number 3 for me, I am shocked at how my shape is changing with this one. I've been keeping an eye on my weight, have gained 2.5 lbs at 11 weeks, but so many clothes don't fit now, and there is a definite shape change going on...

macdoodle · 12/06/2007 00:06

Yup boob are massive (and they were big to start) - and have recently lost 4 stone gone to gym had hourglass waist and flat tummy which just seems to have vanished in 11 short weeks Problem with clothes is cos so proud of weight loss and new figure was only wearing nice fitted clothes so nothing really loose or elasticated dug out some "fat clothes" but just miles to big everywhere else really - tried some maternity stuff in town really dreadful - have ordered some NEXT stuff we will see...

Castanet · 12/06/2007 07:55

Good morning, all! Had my nuchal and it brought a 'little' surprise..... there are TWO tiny ones in there!!! Still in shock as was all prepared for the worst case - missed mc. Don't know why, guess the general lack of yucky symptoms i.e. ms etc. Nuchal reads were great 1.3 & 1.4 and apparently all other measurements were good as well. However, given my age, will still go for CVS , for my peace of mind. The sonographer told me that the pregnancy is considered 'low risk' due to good numbers. BUT - can't do bloods as no-identical twins. So, will hope for the best.... The face of DP was priceless when he saw the screen.......... haaa......

peanutbutter · 12/06/2007 08:02

Castanet !! Congratulations - what fantastic news! Did it come as a complete shock to you or are there histories of twins in the families at all? How lovely for you and your dh

Becklespeckle - well done on your scan yesterday, I'm really pleased for you. Look forward to seeing your little one on your profile

I've got my scan this morning 8.40, but it's in the same hospital where i work so I can just wander down in 20 mins or so. Everything will be a blur until I get into the imaging room and the sonographer says it's all okay. Fingers crossed for me.

buzzybee · 12/06/2007 09:46

Have decided to take DD with me to the scan next Tue. She is so excited - but hadn't considered that it could be terrible if its not good or something tho...oh dear don't think I can not take her now so fingers crossed!
Wow twins!!! I do know I don't have more than one as had a scan at 8 weeks to date it. Congrats on that!
Sadly have put on about 5kg and according to what I've read should be less than 2kg oops! That's what comes of being ravenously hungry all of the time. Also seem to have this awful taste in my mouth which I try to wash away with food. Chewing gum also helps with the taste but at the same time stimulates my apetite so not much better lol!
A friend gave birth last night to baby boy called Victor 1 week early - going to see her tomorrow, will make me extra specially clucky I know.

Neuro · 12/06/2007 10:16

Good morning everyone
Wow Castanet HIGH FIVES! That is brilliant. What a surprise. And congrats to others who have had their scan. I'm envious. Got to wait til Friday. I am having some funny feelngs in my tummy, last night and today, not painful, just a bit odd, but i think they are muscular as they feel sort of towards the outside of my body. I dunno. Just really nervous today. And forget my skinny jean talk of yesterday, this morning my tummy is really sticking out and realised when i caught sight of myself in a shop window this morning that I definintely look preggers. But seems to depend on outfit at the time.
Sorry. Me me me!
This waiting for the scan feels a bit unbearable today. Must practice patience.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK
good luck Peanutbutter this morning

Housemum · 12/06/2007 10:36

Congratulations Castanet! Hard work for you but very special - I have a friend with twin boys and they are gorgeous, it's so cute seeing them together. DH is a twin, but non-identical so that doesn't carry down the line via him - I had a scan at 6 - 7 weeks so know it's only one I think - I presume one won't pop out from behind and say "boo"!!!)

skidaddle · 12/06/2007 11:57

Castanet - that is brilliant - congratulations!!!

Good luck everyone else with upcoming scans

Bouncingturtle · 12/06/2007 13:35

Castanet - fab news!!! You must be over the moon, what a wonderful surprise.

Well, Furrymummy has had name change, in honour of a successful scan. Turtle was indeed bouncing all over the place and waving.
I've been dated at 12+2 weeks, so EDD is now 23rd Dec
Was dead pleased, Castanet, like you I was worried that they were going to diagnose a mmc as well, because of the discharge I was having. It was so amazing, my first thought was that Turtle doesn't look like a turtle any more s/he looks more like a real baby
Neuro, hang in there Friday will come quicker than you think - believe me I know. Sending you lots of good vibes

peanutbutter · 12/06/2007 13:51

Another successful scan here, i'm so bloody relieved! A perfectly clear image of the little one, exactly the same as the photo of ds as it happens. Had a huge lump in my throat and if dh had been there i definitely would have started blubbing. Next scan is 31st July, with the alphabet test on 10 July then Glucose Tolerance and Anti-D appointments both in October.

Oh, and they put me back a week so I'm coming up 13 weeks now.

skidaddle · 12/06/2007 14:29

great news bouncing and peanut - think we're nearly all there now - just neuro and pecka and buzzybee to go? Or have I missed anyone out?

Have been feeling extremely horny recently - almost worryingly so - feel like i've had a little glimpse into the male sex drive and how powerful it is - poor old dp is probably dreading my return as he'll know I'll come home demanding all sorts

Anyone else suffering from this 'problem'?

Neuro · 12/06/2007 14:51

Skidaddle - yes, the Horn-o-meter has gone up on Planet Neuro which is unfortunate as I am single. I do have a lover, or two (ahem), and wondering if it's morally ok to get some hot action in?! It's not like I look that pregnant and it'd be a shame to waste my new found porn star boobs. I dunno if it's wrong though?! I do feel a bit like an animal though...
Do you think it's another of nature's tricks to make sure you keep your baby's father around when you're pregnant and supposedly vulnerable?
Bouncingturtle and Peanutbutter CONGRATULATIONS! i'm very happy for you.
I"m calming my nerves by listening to Wham, George Michael and Saturday Night Fever.
Wham and a large bottle of fizzy water are really doing the trick.

skidaddle · 12/06/2007 15:39

neuro - not remotely wrong - in fact i am quite jealous as my horniness seems to be directed towards all sorts of people as well as my dp. There's supposed to be a biological reason for early pg horniness - something about fathers killing offspring that aren't theirs so best to hedge your bets and shag everyone in sight Enjoy!!

Bouncingturtle · 12/06/2007 16:13

Neuro - go for it!
Skidaddle - I've been having some rather erotic dreams lately , but due to icky discharge don't really want to get down to it with DH until that has stopped! Sorry if TMI!

Neuro · 12/06/2007 16:23

Right then...looks up dogging sites

Bouncingturtle · 12/06/2007 16:25

Oooh kinky

Neuro · 12/06/2007 16:27

Ahem. NORMALLY i would only do it with the lights off and my nightie pulled down immediately afterwards. How do you think i got in this state in first place?
But lately....i've gone very wrong in the head!!!

mad4girls · 12/06/2007 18:24

hello ladies
not too great today as dd2 had her genral anesthetic as she having some teeth removed she was grumpy at first but is definately going back to school tomorrow as she is fully recovered now bouncing all over the shop as per usual anf going to bed in 10 mins as she gave me a headache

on a great note i 100% definately felt a good boot, flutters and then what felt like a sumersault was defo baby as 15 wks today and felt both of the others at 15 wks(bubbles is making bubbles right now knows we talking about it) kept me awake last night and kept me thinking while dd was in theatre, think the nurses thought i was on drugs coz i had this big smile plastered on my face the whole day nothing could spoil today.

castanet- big congrats honey cant believe you will have double the fun
how far are you now about 13/14wks?

about the twin thing its actuley non identical twins that run in familes identical ones are just random, my dad is a non identical twin and the way it works is it skips a generation ie hes not very likely to have twins but i have a 1 in 6 chance of twins (this is my 6th pregnancy i mc twins in 2000, so for me twins would be very scary) and we had scan at 9 wks and defo only 1 although dp kept looking very worried and said he thought he could see another blob he was right but it was my fibroid, he looked very relieved

i had to change my scan date ysterday too was 17th july but mangaged to get in on 19th as dd1 gradutation on that day as she starts juniors in sept, glad i mangaged to get in as they break up from school a few days later and although i considred taking kids, now they have switched me to consultant care(due to fibroid) i have to wait to see a dr as well this time, which means will be there about 3 hrs could not stand a confinde space with no toys and grumpy dp for that long, plus we have to get 2 buses there and 2 buses back or a 45 min walk, v jealous of all you drivers out there, hard not having a car and everyone always assumes you have 1, very irritating

PeckaRolloverAgain · 12/06/2007 18:28

Hi everyone, have had my scan today and it was great

Sonographer spent ages showing us the baby and even had me get up and cough and wiggle my belly aroudn a bit to wake the lazy so and so up. Was so cute when it woke up cos it had a big stretch then started to bounce around

I got put back 1 day so can finally join our list with a date of boxing day and with the knowledge that my little baby is safe and well

Castanet · 13/06/2007 07:21

Thank you all for your kind words! Yep, thrilled and terrified in equal amounts at the moment, still worried as to what CVS will tell.... Hoping for the best though. Having nightmares of ballooning into size of a super tanker, rather soonish....
EDD is Dec.23 but apparently with twins you'll never know, they tend to arrive early, so 34 weeks onwards is a pretty good guess. Saw them on the scan, one was posing in perfect position for the sonographer and kept punching the air/fluid. Boy? The other was floating comfily and took no notice of the fuss whatsoever,. Girl? .
I so hope all will go well.........

Bouncingturtle · 13/06/2007 08:58

Awww pecka - that's so sweet!!!

Mad4girls, sorry to hear about your dd2's op, glad she's feeling better!

Castanet - my brothers (twins) arrived 10 days early. The youngest came out ass first (which explains a lot ), but apart from showing earlier than she did with me, she didn't get particularly huge!

BunnyBaby · 13/06/2007 10:23

Hi Girlies.. Catching up on your messages as haven't looked since last Friday. Well done all who have had their scans and welcome to the newbies too!

I'll be 16 weeks this Saturday and can feel bump lying on my back, and baby moving around when I go to bed at night, which is lovely. Will be brill when DH can feel it too!

Have had to be careful with water retention and salt which was responsible for my 5lb weight gain which dropped off when I changed my lunch choice.

Still in pre-preg jeans, but I was overweight prior to pregnancy, and have been trying to make sensible food choices.

dundeemarmalade · 13/06/2007 10:56

So excited by everybody's scan updates - it feels like we're all getting somewhere now.

Bump bands have become essential now as no trousers will do up - it's quite hard making the mental leap from 'slimmer = better' to 'it's okay to be round', especially when I've worked really hard to stay relatively slim (though will never be less than buxom) and now I have no control over what my body's doing. i guess that's all part of the growth process too.

Am mighty envious of all those with sexy feelings/dreams - hoping this will develop soon and will chase the nightmares away. is anybody else woken up by awful dreams every blinking night?

Housemum · 13/06/2007 12:49

Dundee - I don't have awful dreams but just weird and vivid ones - so I wake up feeling exhausted from the effort of dreaming!

Skidaddle/neuro - sorry if TMI but the middle trimester can be VERY good horny-wise. something to do with all those hormones meaning an increased blood supply round the vagina - mmmmmmmm......

Ho-hum, after those thoughts, back to garage sorting before I lose the will to do it...
