Evening ladies
Well what a turnup. Little Alana-May decided she couldnt wait after all and shocked us all by deciding to make her appearance a day early
Just a quick report on events, i will post pics on Thursday (its ds1's birthday tomorrow so doubt i will get on here)
Waters went with a huge gush at 1.45am, another lot went again about 4.30am and although i was getting the odd contraction it was nothing regular. Had been told by the hospital to wait until they were lasting a minute and coming at 5min intervals, this didnt happen until about 6am. Phoned hospital back and was told to have breakfast and then leave home at about 7am. That was fine until i hung up and my contractions seemed to get stronger and were coming every 3mins, cue mad rush to get to hospital with me having visions of delivering the baby in the farmers fields enroute
Got to hospital at 7.30 found out I was 4-5cm dilated. I was so disappointed, the pains were so strong i was sure i only had a few minutes left. Anyway i mentioned that i had wanted a waterbirth so we changed rooms, i got in the bath at about 8.45 and Alana-May was born in the water 26mins later at 9.11am, weighing 7lbs 3oz (she looks just like ds2 did when he was born and she only weighed 1lb more too, so much for me having a big baby }. She is perfect!!
She went straight to the breast and has been feeding well, she is so alert, she only fell asleep at 4pm preferring to just lay there looking around. She seems a contented baby so far but im sure that will change.
Ds2 came to visit us in hospital and just kept smiling at her and saying the baby's come out lol. ds1 had gone to school so he had to wait until we came home at teatime to see her, he is over the moon that he has a little sister at last Think she is the best present he could have asked for and she doesnt share his birthday so hes pleased with that too. Both the boys are staying with MIl tonight so i can rest, ive slept a bit but the afterpains are quite strong at the moment, have sent dh out to get some more paracetamol.
And no matter how gorgeous she is (i cant believe ive got my little girl at last ) I am not going through that pain again, no way lol.The poor thing still keeps being called 'he' or 'little man' etc but i guess we will get over that soon.
Oh and when we got home we saw the neighbours had put up pink banners and balloons everywhere which made me get a bit teary, it was such a nice gesture and totally unexpected!!
Hope all of you in labour or missing in action get results soon and all those still waiting for those first labour signs goodluck and fingers crossed it happens soon
