Morning All,

Intheseshoes ? Lol?s at K?s mum providing updates over the fence!!! Glad to hear you?re still getting out and about though?..

Scoot, you are supermum! Your DD is v. lucky ? my DS gets Sainsbury?s if he?s lucky and then I complain as I?m waddling around about how uncomfortable I am. Your 1st time does sound horrendous. It won?t be anything like that this time ? positive thoughts are coming your way?.

Tam ? good luck!!!

LG&T ? as TYG says below. We clearly have a ?right? one in our midst . Good luck with the sweep today!

Pinkjenny ? congratulations to you!!!

Still nothing here. Not even a bl**dy twitch. I?ve arranged things to do this week ? if I keep myself busy, the baby is bound to disrupt my plans. When I say keeping myself busy, what I actually mean is lots of lunch/evening dates with friends. Same thing isn?t it?

InTheseShoes · 21/05/2007 11:43

Morning all!

Pinkjenny, glad to hear that all is well with Alexa, sounds like madeindevon has good advice re: congenital hip dislocation, hope all goes well at AlderHey, you will be in the best place there.

Good Luck cinnamontam, sounds like you are next!

Madeindevon, we are massive Liverpool fans here too, and Wednesday is my due date also (although the hospital say Friday) - my Mum reckons the excitement will bring on delivery, especially if it goes our way. While I was pregnant with ds the Reds won the Carling Cup, FA Cup, UEFA cup and Super Cup, I think the Charity Shield as well, so there's a good prescedent for Wednesday there! If we win, I might have to shove a Gerrard/Kuyt/Peppe in the name...

Been to Tesco and Matalan this morning, ostensibly to get lo a "neutral" jacket (got a white/cream knitted cardigan, best I could do) but also ended up buying myself a maxi-dress , a black shirt dress and the most fabulous shoes - red with hig heels and a gingham peep toe. See, I am really optimistic that one day this baby will actually be out...

I am really trying to keep my mind off the fact that ds has gone on his school trip today, for some reason I feel anxious about it, even though I bullied dh into going as a parent helper. Of course, all day, I have been having period-y type pains and back ache, but this is psychosomatic.

Like you Jonah, I am filling my days with different activities to take my mind off the lack of baby (haircut, lunch, also thinking about a pregnancy treatment at the Beauty Bar). I'm at the hospital a week tomorrow to arrange a c-section if the baby hasn't arrived.

Only two weeks of May left!

twelveyeargap · 21/05/2007 13:14

Lovely dress, ITS. I really want one like that, BUT at 5ft 3, I have a feeling that most of them will be trailing the ground on me.

Bleedin' rain. Boo. I can't get into any shoes apart from Birkenstocks. Not great in the wet...

Going to watch "Miss Potter", which I got for DD at the weekend and hopefully the rain will be gone by the time I need to return it.

twelveyeargap · 21/05/2007 13:16

Mind you, a maxi dress could create an interesting public breastfeeding spectacle, wouldn't it? Some sort of large pashmina thingy would be required so you could take down one side of it...

Mrsjaffabiffa · 21/05/2007 13:36

tyg, enjoy the film, I got it for my b'day and watched it last night. It was lovely! I like Renné Zelweiger though.

twelveyeargap · 21/05/2007 15:18

I'm obviously unstable. I cried during the film.

OP posts:
Mrsjaffabiffa · 21/05/2007 16:09

Can't say I didn't have a wobble when he died. BUT I put it down to lack of sleep and baby blues.

madeindevon2 · 21/05/2007 16:23

quiet here today.
just watched "lost in translation" considering watching another film now......may as well be lazy now. it wont last.

madeindevon2 · 21/05/2007 16:24

not seen potter film yet but might have to get that.
watched " a good year" recently which i thought was very good.

MKG · 21/05/2007 16:31

Hey all, still pregnant (damn it!)

PinkJenny--congratulations!!! Glad everything turned out o.k.

Tam--I hope you get this baby out today

LG&T--I hope you sneeze your baby out soon.

I watched Dream Girls over the weekend (skip it) and I also watched Notes from a Scandal which was really good.

I have been so tired that I can barely do anything productive. I think it's my body telling me to save up energy, but at the same time life goes on whether I can get up or not.

Minipop · 21/05/2007 17:53

Hi there
Hope you don't mind a newby highjacking this thread!

I have been lurking for a few months now - I am due on Saturday with my first. Even though I have not posted myself until now, just reading all your posts has been a huge support for me - knowing that I am certainly not the only one getting bloody frustrated with pre-labour signs that come to bugger all

Just found out that baby is LOP and now shitting myself that I am likley to have a long and painful back labour with a higher chance of intervention. Any advice welcome!

I have also bought a maxi dress and a shirt dress, wishfully thinking that it won't be long before I fit into them..[hmm}

twelveyeargap · 21/05/2007 17:56

"Please baby, come out in the morning. Preferably after I've had a decent night's sleep. Start coming around, say, 5am so that DH doesn't bother going to work."

Positive thinking... Honestly, I've been in a state of misery half the day about ending up with an induction. You'd think I was two weeks over, not two days. Feckin' eejit.

twelveyeargap · 21/05/2007 18:01

Hi Minipop. Welcome. Glad you've decided to "out" yourself.

I had an OP labour with my first, although it being 12 years ago, there really wasn't much talked about foetal positioning. Am told the research started being properly collated around 10 years ago. Anyway, I digress. I did have an epidural in the end - after about 10 hours of contraction in lower back every 3 mins lasting a minute. HOWEVER, I delivered on my back, didn't tear, no forceps/ ventouse. So it's not all bad news.

I think the doulas on MN would probably advise you to spend as much time between now and the birth (including your labour), on your hands and knees or even on your left side, to encourage the baby to turn. No reclining on your back etc. Labouring on all fours or say, sitting on a birth ball and leaning forward onto a bed/ beanbag/ husband/ whatever will ease the pain in your back and it helps to move the baby's spine away from yours.

MKG · 21/05/2007 18:02

I everyone!!

I just had some brownish-tinted discharge. For the love of God someone tell me that this was a bloody show and I can get myself geared up for action.

twelveyeargap · 21/05/2007 18:08

Yay MKG! Yes, I bet it was a show. On DD, mine looked like the spotting you get at the very end of your period, iyswim, so browny looking.

And, if you want some good news, my labour started within an hour of that happening. Fingers crossed for you! Keep us posted.

Great this happens exactly when I decide to clean the house for the first time in who knows how long, this baby decides it's gonna get ready. I've been ready for weeks, and now he decides to get ready. Not even born and already doing stuff just to piss me off (LOL at the impeccable timing) Oh well it's probably best that I have something to do other than sit around the house waiting.

Minipop · 21/05/2007 18:11

Thanks, TwelveYearGap. I had a feeling this would be case, so today I dug out my Yoga in Pregnancy and Pilates DVDs that have been collecting dust under the tv for the last two months . Lots of cat stretches and 'sending golden light' to my womb

MKG - sounds like things could be moving. How exciting! I have nothing except constant lower back pain today. I had so many 'signs' a week or so ago I was 'sure' baby would be early. Now I reckon I will go overdue as it all seems to have calmed down

scootermum · 21/05/2007 18:16

Evening all,

NEWS..Lwatkins has just texted to say they are talking about inducing her!...(she had to go in earlier for her bp to monitored)How Exciting!
So she may well be next unless Tam gets there first...hope she comes on with news soon..Feel very of her having Mars there..Your dancing was clearly very effective BB!

Oh and Lilkel is in hospital for something un baby related I think-but is otherwise ok..her section is booked for Friday..

Happy Birthday to S TYG..Good Mummy making cake..I cant be arsed making so much as a sandwich today!

Love those shoes Intheseshoes-my friend has them I think..

Snort at Supermum Jonah..DD has had to eat today, half a dry pitta bread, some bolognese, 6 biscuits and abotu 2 grapes..and I cannot be bothered arguing with her..she will probably end up with rickets or something..

Any news from largegandt anyone? The sweep must surely have done the trick..

Lol at the Liverpool fans..My DH and Dad are die hard Sheffield Wednesday and if a boy it was going to be Chris after Hillsborugh legend Chris Waddle..and for ages DD was Christine, for the same reason, but thankfully DH saw sense..I like Freddie MadeinDevon-Keep it!

I lost all confidence when I got back from hossy PinkJ..think it is quite common-also you will be tired so that can affect how confident you feel-you sound like you are doing great though..hoping it all goes well at Alder Hey..

Hi to everyone ive missed-sorry, vacant y'see..

DD and I have been to Bumps and Babes, (orginal DD version today) and then to a friends house..am not much company today though as feel a bit vacant..cant concentrate on anything..im in the zone according to B and B girls..
DD has been very clingy but very sweet and keeps giving me lots of kisses which is gorgeous..

Have returned home to find that the numpty estate agent left the door unlocked after they showed some viewers round today and somehow has managed to break one of my plant pots..if I could be bothered I would call them and give them what for, but as it is, they can think themselves lucky!

Have got bad lower back pain..really hoping this isnt it as DH has exam in the morn and it would be such a waste of loads of hard work if he had to miss it..

InTheseShoes · 21/05/2007 18:17

thinks positive bloody show thoughts for MKG

Add me to the DVD watchers - Sex and the City series 6 for me this afternoon. I'm not a huge film fan, but get me into a series...

Welcome Minipop and well done for outing yourself! This thread is very reassuring I must say, it's nice to know that all around the world there are women having the same "God I'm so huge I can barely move off this sofa to reach for another cake/biscuit/scone" thoughts and reacting dramatically to every sciatic twinge and mild bout of indigestion.

Got my ds back safe and sound from his school trip, thank the Lord!

scootermum · 21/05/2007 18:21

Hi Minipop..welcome aboard!

I had my show with DD as was in labour so this might be it MKG..Plus you were cleaning-which is also a sign..hope this is it for you hon..

Right TYG-Am visualizing a nice 5 am start to your labour...am confident that if we all think hard enough your DH wont be going in to work tomorrow!

twelveyeargap · 21/05/2007 18:22

Just texted LG&T. Nothing doing unfortunately. Her induction is booked for Friday if nothing happens.

at your estate agents, Scooter. I have fallen out with many in the past. Particularly when we were renting and one company thought it was ok to turn up unnannounced to show new tenants around. Because DH and I worked, they assumed that nobody would be in in the afternoons. They arrived one day and DD was home from school and had the door locked (like the good girl she is) and told them to bugger off. I went through them for a shortcut. Un-effing-believeable. Same company also left our basement doors unlocked about a week later. I was not amused.

Best of luck to your DH for tomorrow.

Unfortunately scooter I wasn't cleaning due to some innate urge. Just got sick of looking at the house.

I hope Lwat is ok.

Lwatkins · 21/05/2007 19:43

Evening All.

Just got back from the hospital. Quick rundown of events. Checked bp last night on my dads machine and it was fairly high (by my standards anyway). Had midwife apt this morning at 11 and when she checked it, it was still high (checked x2). So she took a full blood count and told me to go to the hospital for bp monitoring at 4pm. Went in and got it checked every 10 mins or so for a good hour and a bit whilst also being strapped to that bloody ctg machine thing - god I HATE them! Bp was fairly eratic and high then low then high etc. They spoke to a consultant and he told them to book me in for an induction. They then got my blood results back and my bloods were a bit funny too. Overalll outcome is I have pre eclampsia (not too serious, quite mild) and have to go in to hospital at 2pm tommorrow for an induction.

Really nervous, have butterfly's in my tummy and my hands are shaking. It's all come as a bit of a shock as I was thinking that I was going to be late etc and now all of a sudden it looks like I'll have a baby by wednesday/thursday!

Anyone been induced and what is it like, advice please?

largeginandtonic · 21/05/2007 19:50

Good evening ladies

Hope Lwatkins is ok, poor thing. So scary these things happening with your first.

TYG sending labour at 5 vibes, might keep a few for me too.

MKG wahoooo, a show indeed! Lets hope so and we ahve baby news soon from across the pond.

Nice dress and shoes ITS, i dont buy anything till after the baby is out, i find it far too depressing not being able to fit in to anything. Im not looking forward to it, at least for now the lack of ankles and giant boobs are balanced out by my whopper bump

The midwife was lovely, she gave me a sweep and was quite vicious with it. If all else fails im to go in to hospital fri morn at 8.30 for an internal. If that shows im favourable then they will break my waters, if not then i will be monitored and sent away again! They wont use the pessary or drip to do anything incase my uterus becomes over stimulated. Bloody brilliant

So here is hoping i go in to labour before Frday! Hve eaten a whole pineapple and have had a show (more)

Hope Tam is ok and her LO is out, lucky lady.

DaisysGotABigBump · 21/05/2007 19:51

Just passing, on my way to June, and lurking for baby news.....hope it all goes well LWatkins for tomorrow. At least they've caught it. How exciting for you though....Good Luck
