I’m creating this thread so that we can continue the October 2018 baby bus. Only one page left on ours and once it completes we can’t share this link so getting this done now .... all aboard!

@milknosugar1 I have a book and CDs from my sister that I want to use. I'm also considering a class, it's the same people doing our antenatal classes so will get a discount. I've heard positive things and can't see how it can hurt!

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 01/06/2018 12:06

Anatomy scan went well this morning; nothing was brought to our attention anyway. Still team pink and am just so, so grateful everything is moving in the right direction

So glad to see everyone’s scans going well. I also had mine and everything looked perfect, couldn’t believe how clear the picture was. Midwife said I have strong ab muscles so she’s sitting down by my pelvis still 💕

Exciting to see all the scans! Mine is Thursday and I finally have a little bump and can feel a few tiny flutters (although maybe just wind!).

twobambinos · 01/06/2018 16:48

Awe it's lovely to see the photos. Great that it's all good news so far. Fingers crossed it will stay that way. Good luck to everyone else waiting for the scans.

@penguina hope yours went well.

@2ndPGchimp We had the 3d 4d too it's a bit weird but nice to see. Counting down to the next scan now.

I'm feeling really exhausted at the moment and we have such a busy weekend ahead all things I would usually look forward to but the thoughts of it alone now are enough to reduce me to tears.

I did buy a lovely 3 pack of baby gros today. Must stop buying clothes.

Have also had the growth bump spurt others are talking about but a lose top and strangers still wouldn't guess. A fitted top they would. Won't be able to be concealing it for too much longer I don't think.

Has everyone their names decided on? We don't even have one between us that we like. I know there's plenty of time yet but at this stage on my dds they had names. I think or maybe I'm just remembering what I want to.

ShuffleHopStepFlapStep · 01/06/2018 18:11

Aw, lovely to see the scan pictures!

Does anyone have any experience of antenatal yoga or pilates? I've been struggling a bit with back, not helped by pre-existing dodgy hips and was wondering if trying to improve or at least conserve some core strength would be a good thing.

Reading this thread, I'm thinking that I should be buying things or sorting things that I've kept from DD. I suppose I'm still getting my head round the fact that it looks like it will really happen this time (22wks today).

I have decided to get [[https://www.johnlewis.com/shnuggle-baby-bath/p1935549?sku=234304443&s_kwcid=2dx92700027454056325&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpvbdpfiy2wIVEZkbCh1IUgUxEAQYASABEgIEV_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds]] bath though, based on a couple of glowing reviews from friends and because it's supposed to be pretty back-friendly. Also, I think it's cute!

Havetothink · 01/06/2018 18:58

Does anyone else have people thinking you're due already? I was big with my first baby, this is my second and I am just huge at 21wks. It's getting embarrassing, people are starting to ask when I'm finishing work/due etc and I can't tell them the answer without their jaw hitting the floor and the shocked expressions, one person even apologised then scuttled away Confused

ShuffleHopStepFlapStep · 01/06/2018 19:30

Oh dear Havetothink. No advice but that sounds hard to deal with. Are people being rude, or just failing to hide their surprise? I'm sure you can't be that big, are you quite small and carrying 'all forward'? This is why I try and keep it completely neutral and polite and only comment on pregnancies in real life once the woman has mentioned it herself first!

Hayleyxmx · 01/06/2018 19:34

@ShuffleHopStepFlapStep I bought the shnuggle bath with a grey/silver back from John Lewis too the quality is amazing and surprisingly John Lewis was the cheapest place to buy it, good choice 🙌🏻😊

ladydolly · 01/06/2018 20:15

@havetothink yes! I was also massive with my first and even bigger now, people's eyes are like saucers when I tell them I'm not due until October. I try and get in before them and say 'I still have 3 months but look like I'm ready to pop'

I'm doing preggo pilates, I'm hoping the core work will help my back support another ginormous baby! I love it.

I did daisy birthing last time which is like hypnobirthing, I had a section in the end but my sis did it and swears that's what helped her deliver 2 x 9lb+ babies.

We have a first name, yet again it's the only one we even remotely agreed on. Still working on middle name.

23 weeks on Monday and movement is all still very low so guessing she's still breech.

I have a long haul work trip this week, back on Friday then on holiday Saturday morning. I'm dreading the long days and the overnight flight, did one at 15 weeks and it was awful :( At least these are the last ones.

Havetothink · 01/06/2018 20:39

I'm 5 4, usually a size 10, and I carry fully forward. No-one has been intentionally rude (although one person did joke and call me fatty today, but didn't mean any harm), it's just physical shock that they fail to hide when I say October. Doing my best to hold it in but I think my stomach muscles are shot. I'm quite worried about how big i'll end up and how I'll carry on. This is my bump today at 21 weeks 4 days, anyone similar?

What a lovely bump Smile But goodness, if that's 'really big', I'm gonna start feeling self conscious now! If say we are off a very similar build and bump-structure.

Thanks Lady and Milk, have definitely decided to give preggo Pilates and/or yoga a go.

Havetothink · 01/06/2018 22:49

Thanks ladies, I don't have much to compare it to, there's one other woman at work who's pregnant, weeks further along than me and barely has a bump so I just seem like a hippo by comparison.

Milknosugar1 Yes I've been feeling more or less ok pregnancy wise now first trimester is behind me, other than the the odd hip pain or bit of reflux, but my hayfever is just miserable this week. I was half hoping pregnancy would make it magically disappear but I guess not.

Shuffle it's nice to think anyone has a bump similar to mine. When people are constantly saying you're huge it's hard not to think you're a giant heffalump if there's no-one to tell you differently.

EffRam · 02/06/2018 13:15

Half the time people tell me I'm really big (I'm 19+5) and half the time people say oh you can't really see it yet... I'm taking this to mean I am perfectly average!! I think I look quite similar to you, @havetothink, and it depends where you carry it and what you're wearing how obvious it is. My husband keeps saying I look massive and I keep saying, you ain't seen nothing yet...

I would also second pregnancy yoga. I've been going weekly since 12 weeks and really notice it if I miss a class! I also do yoga for adriene antenatal yoga sessions on youtube. Great for the back and just general well being, I think.

So lovely to see everyone's clear scan pics! My 20 week scan is on Tuesday! I am v scare-cited. My husband can't come so my mum is coming. I think she's quite looking forward to it. I am hoping everything is ok, of course, but also that maybe the husband will book a private scan so he can come (and I'll get to see baby again!).

@biscaytrafalgarfitzroy exactly the same with flutters that might be wind... so hard to tell Grin I have felt actual kicks (I assume) maybe 3 or 4 times over past month but mainly just little flutters.

Have good weekends everybody! I have to finish writing a chapter of my thesis to send to my supervisors (I was meant to send it yesterday, oops) and I am SO procrastinatey. I have bought myself a doughnut to eat when I'm done as motivation...

EffRam · 02/06/2018 13:18

PS We have not bought anything at all yet. We have a baby box because it was free. Having some work done on the house (fitted wardrobes/new boiler) and so I'm pretending it's that because I don't want to have extra stuff in the way and when it could get grubby, but really I am just a bit overwhelmed by it all - I am also irrationally superstitious but I know that's silly! My sister-in-law is giving us some bits and I guess I'm banking on family passing on clothes so I am only thinking about buggy shopping and we will probably go July/August when work calms down.

unicornchaser · 02/06/2018 14:12

Not sure how many of you are in Scotland, we have these Jack & Jill markets here like a huge indoor baby car boot sale.
Got a travel cot, baby swing, 15 bibs, 10 next/m&s baby grows & sleep suits, a snow suit, 3 Moses basket sheets and pair of dungarees for £50! All seem practically new so really pleased Smile

ATP1000 · 03/06/2018 21:59

Hi everyone, I’ve been super busy at work, have been meaning to say hello for a while 👋.
It’s great to hear all your news, finally the morning sickness left at around 18 weeks and I have been able to work, I have a lot of catching up to do this summer.
All is well with the baby, it’s defintely a girl, confirmed at the 20 week scan. I have a fibroid close to my cervix so have a few more follow up scans starting with 28 weeks. Also got to have whooping cough vaccine and flu and anti D. Otherwise all good!
I havent bought anything yet, am waiting for a pregnancy pillow to arrive this week and am narrowing down the prams. We need a fully lie flat car seat which is taking a bit of research!
Good luck to everyone with 20 week scans coming up and hooray to everyone who have reached 20 weeks!

Quick question to all, is everyone now sleeping on their sides? I've a preg pillow (which I hate as it's so restrictive!) and trying to lie on my side but got some real problems with my shoulders so I'm waking in agony every hour but know I shouldn't be sleeping on my back anymore Sad
And the physio referrals at my hospital are about a 6-8 week waiting list 😩
Not sure if the guidance is slightly over exaggerated though about not sleeping on your back?

ATP1000 · 04/06/2018 10:10

Hi @unicornchaser I normally fall asleep on my left hand side but spend most of the night on my back. Today was the first time I woke up with dead arms and hands whilst on my back, I was up at 4am 😣 and took ages to get back to sleep!
I’m taking that as a guide that I should try to spend more time on my side. The pregnancy pillow arrives this week.
Maybe try a different normal pillow for your head to adjust the height of your head and gap to your shoulder? I know how painful it is though so it’s not easy.

Thanks @milk, that may give me some leeway to get a physio sorted! I think I would probably be woken anyway if it was putting too much pressure & reducing oxygen flow.

It's horrid, got told last year I had pinched nerves in my shoulder which got released but back and worse than ever and in both shoulders now. I think the increased weight on my boobs/belly pulling down maybe?! But typically changed jobs this year and don't get private health care anymore so need to wait on good old NHS waiting lists!
