@northernbelle84 I’m Co Durham too :)

@Poppy2507 I’m pleased everything went well with your scan, hopefully it’ll help you relax. I’ve been really anxious too

I’m starting to get annoyed with my line manager, I know it’s still early but I feel like he is ignoring the fact I’m pregnant. I was denied an overnight stay before a meeting the other day which meant I was out the house inc travel for over 16 hours and I was totally done in by the end of it. I’ve emailed today to say I’m not feeling great and have scheduled someone else with me tomorrow so I’m not lone working (usually do about 5 hours solo on a fri morning) and I haven’t heard back.
Does anyone know when risk assessments are supposed to be completed?

BunBunMum · 17/05/2018 16:08

Ive already had a risk assessment (at 12 weeks) @Nevada54 but I work in a lab with chemicals etc so makes sense to do early. With office work and line working they are going to review things in the 3rd trimester x

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 17/05/2018 18:24

I work in a primarily office environment and have had my first risk assessment (last week 14W) and they will continue to do them periodically until I finish for mat leave.

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 17/05/2018 18:27

Sorry meant to say; there is no legal requirement to conduct a specific RA when you are informed of an expectant mother - but there is a requirement for a generic risk assessment for employees in general which must consider the likes of expectant mothers. Most companies will have pregnancy risk assessments however as general practice.

LastNightsMakeUp · 17/05/2018 18:34

@Nevada54 these might be useful for you www.hse.gov.uk/mothers/faqs.htm / www.maternityaction.org.uk/advice-2/mums-dads-scenarios/pregnant/health-and-safety-during-pregnancy-and-on-return-to-work/

I'm not working this time but during my last pregnancy my job involved fairly regular 24 hour working / on calls. Whenever I did one my morning sickness would come back, I'd get migraines, my bp would shoot up and I generally felt awful for the next few days. Long story short I went to my GP and he basically was very cautious and wrote me a note signing me off on calls from 22 weeks for the rest of my pregnancy.

LastNightsMakeUp · 17/05/2018 18:37

@Saraswati there are some posts on the nub theory group sent to the admins that post them anonymously. I wish I hadn't have added my pic though as they couldn't really see well and I got a 'leaning towards boy' only from one person so now I'm having to sit on my hands not to book and pay for a private gender scan at 16 weeks! I'm too impatient!

LastNightsMakeUp · 17/05/2018 18:38

Congratulations @Poppy2507 and welcome

Deedoll · 17/05/2018 20:42

Haven't posted on here in a while but thought I'd let you know how my scan went today. Looks like I've got a naughty one on my hands, baby was upside down with its face looking at my back and wouldn't budge!! So only just managed to do measurements EDD is still 28th November and heartbeat was really strong. Just disappointed we didn't get a 'full' view of baby but least I know they are ok.

Has anyone started buying baby bits yet? Must admit I have when I see a cute outfit or an essential item on offer Smile

TinyPawz · 18/05/2018 00:18

@Deedoll I've started getting bits in, well big bits actually but hope to have the majority of 'stuff' in over the next few week then will tackle xmas for my Dd. Everything to be & wrapped by end of October.

Anyway so have the travel system, wardrobe and reusable nappies so far. Probably won't start to look at clothes until after 20weeks and I know what flavour I will be getting. Unless I come across some nice unisex stuff.

Saraswati · 18/05/2018 07:01

You are all so organised! I haven't bought a thing yet, I probably won't until later as we are having an extension built on our house so don't have a lot of storage space. I have been watching some snuzpods on eBay though so will grab one if I see a bargain! Off to a big m&s today so might see if dd wants to choose a sleepsuit for the baby.

Dd's birthday is new years eve and there's Xmas too so want to get that sorted in October before the baby is born as I known won't have a second to think about it afterwards!

Deedoll · 18/05/2018 07:23

@TinyPawz oh wow you are super organised! What travel system did you get? I'm thinking it'll be either an icandy or the egg strollers.

I'm not going to find out what we are having so it's all whites, greys and yellows for me. Want to get the majority of shopping done by October so I can just relax until they make an appearance 😀

TinyPawz · 18/05/2018 08:21

@Deedoll silver cross freeway.

Deedoll · 18/05/2018 09:11

@TinyPawz oh they are lovely

NoCatsHere · 18/05/2018 10:32

tinypawz you are so organised! good work. We have a lot from the first two boys, and I prefer unisex clothes even now they are 7 and 3 so we don't need anything different even if it was a girl. We have whites and reds, monochrome and grey and bright things from before so baby will be fine in that. Trying hard not to buy anything as I promised my OH that a third baby doesn't have to cost anything!!!

The only think i might watch off eBay is cocoon baby or similar and a pram as we got rid of our baby one, we only have a stroller. Although the school run isn't far so i reckon i'll try and so wraps most of the time if i can. I'm almost getting excited now, if i don't hear today from the hospital i reckon my bloods will be ok and can tell my 2 ds tomorrow.

But i might be more organised for christmas, otherwise i reckon i'll be panic buying everything!

Nevada54 · 18/05/2018 10:52

So organised! I’ve been browsing and watching a few things on eBay..but I was doing that before I was pregnant too Grin

I think I’d like to go for the Silvercross Pioneer, I’m after an all terrain travel system

MeredithShepherd · 18/05/2018 14:34

Wow organised! We’ve bought a changing bag and a sleepsut that says born in 2018 in it and that’s it! We’ve chosen the pushchair (bugaboo Fox) but not bought it yet!

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 18/05/2018 14:36

We've got the Moses basket as it was the last one of the one we wanted on sale. Nothing else yet. Smile

pipsqueak126 · 18/05/2018 14:42

It's funny, there are certain items I'm focusing on and other I've not even thought about - like car seats and buggies - but then again, my sister might lend us hers so might not need to worry anyway! One thing I'm interested in, after a few of you have mentioned stashing up, is reusable nappies. My friend just gave me a link to our local government scheme for them, where you get a voucher for a real nappy pack. Hopefully other local governments do something similar? It looks a really good deal! In terms of 'building up a stash', are you looking on ebay etc for them? I'd be wary of second hand nappies, but is that just a misconception that people haven't washed them properly?!

Melaniesunflower · 18/05/2018 16:26

Tinypaws, you're so organised!!!! I've bought nothing. We're hoping to move house over the summer, so I think I'll need to wait till we get our new place (and some money)

mrsmistergav · 18/05/2018 16:59

Sorry for the double post. My phone had a special moment!!

CVB1990 · 18/05/2018 17:11

Wow hearing how organised everyone is makes me feel super unorganised!! Ive got two sleep suits which are my little pony cos I’m 28 and still obsessed with little pony haha! I’ve not even looked at Prams yet, we’re off to Florida in just over a week so hoping to get a lot of clothes over there. Got my early gender scan next Sunday... Can. Not. Wait. 😃

Emelene · 18/05/2018 17:38

My DH just looked at me in complete shock and said "you've got a bump!" ... even though I had told him for at least a week, he hadn't noticed. At least he followed it up with "you look lovely" so he's in my good books. Grin I'm 15+4 today.

sarahhh1984 · 18/05/2018 18:18

I've bought my new pram. Next job is to clean up the old one and see if we can sell it. Other than that I don't think we'll be buying anything else until after 20 week scan. If it turns out to be another girl, we've got a lot of clothes already. Although as DD was born in April a lot won't be appropriate for a winter baby so I'll need to sort through it all.

Don't really need to buy much as we still have everything from DD. Only other "big" thing is a new crib as our last one was rubbish. Still don't feel organised though! Have loads of birthdays in October and November (including DH) so want to try to buy for those as well as Christmas in advance if I can.
