I have recently found out I am pregnant and I believe baby would be due 6th January 2019. I know it is such early days, but are there any other Mums-to-be out there who have just discovered they are pregnant and who will be due next year? Sounds crazy saying that!...

Good morning!

I'm not too tired, but so ill. It seems to be easing off by lunchtime but any strong smell in the afternoon will set it off again for a little while. Constantly drinking water is helping, as is snacking on fruit.

My middle DD (9) is off on a school residential trip today! She was super excited before school.

jellyfish2210 · 09/05/2018 09:51

@wasthataburp I booked my midwife appointment when I got my positive test. They didn't ask how far along I thought I was or anything and just gave me a date. I was picky with my dates as I have to fit them in around work so it's ended up being the 21st, I will be 8 weeks then

wasthataburp · 09/05/2018 09:53

@jellyfish ok thanks - i think i will call up today as im going on holiday soon so might get app before going away

trukevoli · 09/05/2018 09:56

Keep trying to catch up but finding it hard to post. Currently having my car cleaned so using the time wisely.

Only symptom is soreish boobs and my appetite has gone down. I had a very easy pregnancy last time so hoping for the same this time.

Currently debating names with my OH we had a girls name picked out last timw which we didnt get to use and now i am now keen on the shortened versions so have made my own and he doesnt like it. Got 8ish months to persuade him though.

I have booked my midwife appt buy will need to change it as i am now going to be moving house at the end of the month to a different surgery.

Hope the sickness isnt too bad today for you all :-)

trukevoli · 09/05/2018 09:59

Oh and tiredness i feel so so so tired. And my child doesnt sleep! 3 years old a morning of nursery an afternoon of softplay evening in the garden fell asleep at 9! So did i.

laurs2309 · 09/05/2018 10:16

Has anyone had to take time off work yet? I felt exhausted this morning and started dry heaving when I got out of bed so I phoned in sick.feel so much better now after going back to sleep for a couple of hours. Was going to wait until 12 weeks to tell work but now thinking maybe I need to tell my boss sooner so I can be flexible with my hours and work from home sometimes. Trouble is I don't trust him, he shares the personal business of other members of the team with me so I am sure he would drop hints to others.

laurs2309 · 09/05/2018 10:17

Forgot to say, hats off to those of you with other children to look after whilst feeling sick! 👍

loopdeelou · 09/05/2018 10:25

I got up today feeling 🤢. It hasn't yet past and I feel awful. The room is spinning and I feel like I have a serious hangover! I'm lucky that I am working from home today (though I haven't yet done much) and can sit on the sofa. I was determined to wait until 12weeks before telling anyone but am changing my mind by the hour! I'm not sure I'm going to get through a week-long trip I have for work next week. Think they might suspect from my green face and seriously bloated stomach.

I caved and bought some maternity shorts yesterday 😂. They're way too big at the moment but so comfy. I can't believe how bloated my belly is. I feel like I look 5 months pregnant already!

Hi everyone! I'm 4 weeks exactly today, due around 16th Jan (can't believe i'm saying that!!) Hope its going well for you all so far xx

ohhellojo · 09/05/2018 10:33

@wasthataburp I went out for a ‘day sesh’ with my friend at the weekend and managed to keep suspicions down by maaaaajorly watering down my drinks. I had the weakest sloe gin and about 2 litres of lemonade and then fobbed her off saying I couldn’t finish a pint of shandy (which I made the barman make with a ridiculous ratio of lemonade to lager). I also had two milkshakes, a couple of mocktails and a large coke to match the amount of drinks she had. We ate a ton aswell. I’m pretty sure she just thought I was being a pussy rather than trying not to declare my pregnancy lol I know drinking whilst preggo is definately frowned upon, so obvs don’t drink if you don’t want to, but I think it worked pretty well by diluting it and keeping my news to myself :)

Upsydasiy · 09/05/2018 10:54

Panicking today. My sickness has subsided. (Which I should feel lucky about) but it’s makinrg me think something’s up :(

UpTheBumNoBabies · 09/05/2018 10:59

Sneaking in here with a name change.
Just had a bfp and it has scared the hell out of me.

Newish relationship. Both already have dc's and both said no more 🙈

Pearcrumble · 09/05/2018 14:02

@wasthataburp I rang the local midwife unit and they estimated me to be 4/5weeks, said they would pass my info to the booking clerk who would send me a letter with a first appointment in a month's time, so will be 8 weeks ish. A serious test of my patience, I feel like I just want to know what's going on in there!

@laurs2309 I haven't had to take time off yet but I'm wondering how long I can keep it up without letting some of my clients know (I'm a gardener/work on a couple of smallholdings). I am turning down extra work and trying to surreptitiously shirk the heaviest stuff, which I feel guilty about. At the end of the job I go straight to bed and stay horizontal for the rest of the eve! I would like to be honest with people and avoid all the white lies, but feel it's too early to share and also worried about people not wanting to employ me anymore.

I knew work would be difficult later on with a bump but naively didn't expect it to be a dilemma this early on! How is everyone navigating the work thing?

laurs2309 · 09/05/2018 14:11

I've managed to book a drs appointment for this afternoon so I'm going to see what my options are for the nausea as I can't carry on like this. I am miserable and I can't just take the next 6 weeks off work. I was reading up on vitamin b6 earlier and it sounds like that can help but it says to get advice from your doctor or midwife before just randomly buying it. Would rather try that before going down the medication route. Sods law that just before the appointment I am now feeling much better though!

@pearcrumble having a physical job must be tough!

Notevenmyrealname · 09/05/2018 17:18

I think it’s usual that they don’t book your mw appt until after 8 weeks in case anything happens before then. Last year I didn’t make it that far but I remember feeling like it was ages away when it was only about three weeks but it was into the following month. This time round, it’s booked in for the end of this month so it doesn’t feel like I’ve got too long to wait as May is pretty busy for me anyway.

Upsydasiy · 09/05/2018 18:19

@laurs2309 sorry to hear you are struggling. Hope the gp can help!

Frenchiemamax · 09/05/2018 19:00

Who have you all told so far (if anyone) about your pregnancy? I want to tell my Mum but keep talking myself out of it!

LG93 · 09/05/2018 19:06

Sorry to hear some of you are feeling crappy.

Had some spotting today and the usual cramps. It was the tiniest amount of spotting but naturally panicked 🙄 took a test as soon as I got in from work to check I was still pregnant - I am, and lines are looking stronger so think I need to just try and relax.

Out for dinner so will be nice to treat myself to something yummy and hopefully tempt my appetite back!

jellyfish2210 · 09/05/2018 20:05

@Frenchiemamax I am just over 6 weeks, due 1/1 and so far have told (in order): DH, my parents, his parents and my boss (I work with radiation so high risk job).

I am planning a trip to visit my siblings next week to let them know, i will be 8 weeks. And after that I want to tell some close extended family. Then it will be only after the first scan I will tell everyone else.

Keeping it a secret is so hard though esp when I'm so bloated and feel like a whale, it would be nice to tell some of my colleagues who would sympathise!!

jellyfish2210 · 09/05/2018 20:05

@laurs2309 did you get on ok at the drs?

Penelopepitstop2306 · 09/05/2018 20:18

Hi everyone, can I join please? I'm 4+4 today with my 1st baby. I found out on Monday and have just been trying to take it all in. DH and I have been trying since November and am so shocked it took this month, I was certain we had missed it this month. I'm a bit lost as to what I'm meant to be doing now I've found out. I've book a GP appointment for 22nd May. Is that the right thing to do? I'm not sure how you get on the midwife service, does the GP refer you?

I don't have many symptoms. Have sore boobs but not too bad and get twinges and crampy sensations at times. I had some unusual CM but all back to normal now. Sorry TMI Blush. Any advice is greatly appreciated from those more knowledgable than me. TIA. Smile

Frenchiemamax · 09/05/2018 20:20

@jellyfish2210 wow! Doesn’t it seem like once you’ve told one person you don’t feel you can stop telling everyone? Haha I’ve told my mum this evening she was over the moon. Hope everything is going well for you 😘

Frenchiemamax · 09/05/2018 20:21

Hey Penelope congratulations! I didn’t need to see the GP, just registered for the midwife today at GP reception and they’ll contact me soon to book me in. Hope it goes well for you xx

peaches1991 · 09/05/2018 20:28

@Frenchiemamax Just DH, and then yesterday had to tell HT at school because of timetabling till next year. Made it clear that's it's very early and he is to tell no one! The plan is not to tell anyone else until past 12 weeks

jellyfish2210 · 09/05/2018 20:54

@Frenchiemamax oh yes, I just want to tell everyone that I meet. We have only been trying since January and I didn't think it would happen this quick, I'm just so excited, but definitely best to wait. Though feel like I'm avoiding people in case I spill the beans. I'm a terrible liar, haven't seen my bestie in a couple weeks and I know when she sees me she is going to see it written all over my face!!
