I have recently found out I am pregnant and I believe baby would be due 6th January 2019. I know it is such early days, but are there any other Mums-to-be out there who have just discovered they are pregnant and who will be due next year? Sounds crazy saying that!...

Hi everyone so I took another test yesterday and the line is defo getting darker and confirmed it with a digital Clearblue. After having a previous miscarriage I am terrified but feel so lucky that it’s happened again so quickly. Not really got any symptoms yet, with the miscarriage I had no sickness at all and in a strange way I’m actually hoping I get a bit this time so it reassures me (I prob won’t be saying that when It happens 🙈) only thing Ive been getting over last few days is gas pains in stomach which I got last time too 😳😳

Hope everyone else is well today xx

@Upsydasiy I'm the same with the early morning thing. My alarm usually goes off about 6:30 and I eventually get up at 7. Now I'm awake at 5 almost every day! Is it any wonder I'm exhausted!

Has anyone had to tell their boss yet?

Upsydasiy · 08/05/2018 07:47

@jellyfish2010 ha that’s what I was saying this morning to DH

Not told my boss yet trying to hold off, you?

Different topic but how’s everyone coping with lack of caffeine? I’ve managed to cut it out apart from my morning coffee. But think that’s because of the sickness. Not sure how I’ll cope when this settles as I’m a big coffee/tea drinker 😂

LeeCee · 08/05/2018 08:07

@jellyfish2210 not planning to tell my boss till after the 12 week scan. Will be difficult but no reason to tell them before then really - no risks in my workplace

@Upsydasiy I switched to decaf coffee and it's actually really helped. I think a lot of mug addiction is the taste/habit so hopeful I'll be ok.

No nausea yet - boobs still sore and no bleeds though so just trying to relax and trust the bean is still there. Will try to get to the GP this week so that will hopefully reconfirm also

loopdeelou · 08/05/2018 08:16

I keep waking up feeling nauseous but nothing has been coming of it yet. I imagine being sick will be around the corner.

I haven't told work yet and don't plan to for ages. I don't think they'll take it that well as I travel extensively for my job and they'll know there is no way I can go back to the job after having a baby so it'll be the end of me working for them.

LeeCee · 08/05/2018 08:20

Yikes @loopdeelou that's a big change! Are you ok with finishing? Or will you be looking for something else?

Upsydasiy · 08/05/2018 08:26

@LeeCee I’ve bought decaf ready as well for when I start to fancy it again. I’ve been feeling pretty sick though so ice cold water is the only thing I’ve wanted to drink.

Funny how we want symptoms then don’t when we have them. I’ve been vomiting pretty badly then no vomiting at all yesterday which made me panic 😂 I should have just been happy to have a vomit (not nausea) free day 🤢
Woke up this morning feel pretty green but think that’s more hunger!

@loopdeelou sounds like you have some big changes coming up. Hope you feel okay about work 🤗

loopdeelou · 08/05/2018 08:27

@LeeCee it's ok. It was only ever going to be a short term role as the travelling isn't sustainable but it's given great experience which will help me move on to the next thing I want to do. So all is okay. I just don't want to tell work though as everything is going so well and I don't think they'd have imagined pregnancy was on the cards so think it'll be a shock.

Me too, with the early morning insomnia. I'm up a couple of hours before even the 6yo! I'm quite enjoying the time to read before the day starts though. I think I'm mostly waking up because I'm hungry, which sucks on school run days as I don't get chance to eat until after the school run!

I work as a self employed tutor, so no boss to tell here.

We told the DDs yesterday, they are beyond excited, it was so cute. DD3 (6) didn't believe us at first!

jellyfish2210 · 08/05/2018 10:08

I have an obligation to inform my managers as soon as I know I'm pregnant because of the high risk environment I work in. I told them this morning and actually they were quite happy for me. Thankfully they have to keep it to themselves and I have made it very clear that I don't want others to know until my 12 week scan.

We have a lot of people in training in the office at the moment so I think it will spur the bosses on to light a fire under everyone else which will actually make my life easier! Currently doing my own job plus half of everyone else's!!

As for the caffeine that is not an issue for me. I never tried tea or coffee so haven't got that to contend with and boy am I grateful!

LG93 · 08/05/2018 11:09

Just turned down crispy creme donuts - what's happening to me! Just felt nauseous just looking at them!

kitcatdog · 08/05/2018 11:42

I'm getting the early morning thing too. I'm only 4wks. Does anybody know what causes it?

jellyfish2210 · 08/05/2018 11:48

@LG93 I feel you! I took my DH to our favourite restaurant for his birthday and I struggled to eat my favourite meal!! Gutted!

laurs2309 · 08/05/2018 12:10

4.30am wake up for me every morning at the mo, wake up needing a wee then can't get back to sleep. The nausea is kicking in too which is making me really fed up. Seems terrible to wish time away but bring on the second trimester!

ohhellojo · 08/05/2018 12:43

@jellyfish2210 how far along are you? I’m also in a high risk job and should really tell them, but I bloody love my job and I’m dreading telling them because they’ll instantly take me out of it. I feel completely fine whilst working atm so I don’t see any negative impact on me staying in my role for now. I also mc last year pretty early on in my pregnancy so I don’t want to cause any fuss about it before the 12 week scan says it’s all okay.

LG93 · 08/05/2018 12:49

@laurs2309 I here ya! Think it's worse as nobody (other than DH) knows so can't even vent about feeling crappy or get any sympathy - just have to try and hide it and carry on!

jellyfish2210 · 08/05/2018 12:55

@ohhellojo I am only 6 weeks. But I work with radiation and our policy documents state that as soon as a female employee finds out she is pregnant she is is required to inform her line manager. I knew I was pregnant for two weeks but wanted to wait until 6 weeks before I actually told them.

My symptoms haven't been too bad, but the 3pm exhaustion hits and it will definitely help knowing that my manager will hopefully go a little easier on my afternoon workload. They are obligated not to tell anyone else though.

Notevenmyrealname · 08/05/2018 13:19

I did a test which came up positive on Saturday and my due date is 8th January so I’m five weeks today. It’s my fourth time (although I only got to six weeks on the third occasion). I’m excited but because of last time, I’m trying to be fairly pragmatic. I have two wonderful little girls already so have an idea what to expect but I’m older now so am nervous for other reasons.

I’ve not really had too many symptoms. A bit of spotting and some insomnia last week but nothing else yet. I escaped morning sickness with both my other children so hoping this time goes the same way.

I’ve been trying to lose some weight recently but obvs no more calorie cutting for me now which is just fantastic. I’m not going mad cutting things out but I will miss alcohol as I don’t drink that often but really enjoy it when I do. I spotted for a few days a week or so ago (I now think this must have been implantation) and presumed I was starting my period so bought a bottle of wine. I had two glasses last weekend but then when the spotting stopped and no period came, I started to suspect something might be up. I now have half a bottle of wine sitting on the kitchen counter calling to me. I’m going to have to find some decent recipes that I can use it in and burn off the alcohol rather than waste it completely by pouring it away. My biggest vice is tea; I can have anything from 3 to 10 cups a day (although this nice weather we’ve been having has reduced it quite a lot) so I need to cut down on that.

I think I’ll give it a few weeks before I tell my family but won’t tell MIL until after the scan as we might as well announce it on prime time TV as tell her. She’s a massive gossip so it would not be a secret for long.

loopdeelou · 08/05/2018 13:28

Congrats @Notevenmyrealname. Your MIL sounds like my Mum! The entire world would know so I'm holding off on saying anything!

Accidentally told my MIL on Saturday because I told her I had to go to the pharmacist for some pregnancy-friendly hayfever meds! Doh.

My nausea has eased off a bit which is fab, as with my first I could barely eat anything other than monster munch til around 12 weeks - it was so bad. I got worried it was a MC so tested again but my line is still stronger than the control, phew.

The tiredness is hitting me - my husband works away most of the time (scotland - and i am Southampton!) and the bank holiday weekend in the heat with a 14 month old who has just learnt to run was EXHAUSTING. My DH moves back around October for a 2 year project- I cannot wait. Really missing his help, especially at weekends.

stegosauruslady · 08/05/2018 14:22

Bleugh central with me today...morning sickness seems to be hitting me mid-morning and lasting until lunch. I'm only 4 weeks, I really hope it isn't going to get worse!

We are in the middle of helping DP's sister move from about an hour away to round the corner from us...so she will be chief baby sitter for this one! Grin She is staying at ours tonight and we are going to tell her...I can't wait!

blorgzorb · 08/05/2018 14:42

I'm still drinking my morning coffee but for some reason can't stomach my afternoon coffee anymore.
Seem to have evening sickness rather than morning sickness that gets worse if I don't eat!
Been waking up at about 5am after a night of vivid dreams and crawling into bed at 9pm. Feel like such a lazy bones at the moment!
Anyone else desperately trying to squeeze in stomach crunches when they get the chance?! I'm TERRIFIED of my body changing shape. Spent my 20s working in a looks orientated career and I can't quite shake off my anxiety about getting stretch marks and putting on weight Shock

laurs2309 · 08/05/2018 14:57

@LG93 yes I'm the same, only my dh and mum know. I was thinking this morning that I feel a bit lonely as apart from on here I can't really talk to anyone about it. Dh has been amazing but just doesn't really understand, and my mum lives a few hours away so I can't pop in for a chat or anything.

Listen to me sounding all woe is me, I'm so lucky to be pregnant I think I need to just snap out of it and realise that! 😀

Jebbs · 08/05/2018 14:57

Hello, 5 weeks today for me with my first. Been quite lucky for symptoms so far (fingers crossed) but alcohol had been harder - not because I want to drink it but because we've had people over, bbqs etc abd we don't want to tell everyone yet. I've been taking a glass when I can't avoid it then searching for a way to ditch it without it being obvious. Blush
Not missing coffee (though still drinking tea).
