I have recently found out I am pregnant and I believe baby would be due 6th January 2019. I know it is such early days, but are there any other Mums-to-be out there who have just discovered they are pregnant and who will be due next year? Sounds crazy saying that!...

I feel totally normal today. At 9+3 weeks I have my fingers crossed it's the morning sickness easing off. I don't remember when it let up with DC1 but it was about 15/16 weeks with DC2.

In other news I spilt hoisin sauce down my uniform Hmm

Good luck for scans today.

blorgzorb · 30/05/2018 14:33

Has anyone told work yet? I'm 8 and a half weeks. I had to take the day off today because I feel so drained but I'm feeling really guilty! Don't know whether I should say yet or not.
I had my booking in appt but had to take some time out of my work day to do do and I'm having shorter lunch breaks to make up for that but if I just tel them why I went I wouldn't have to.
Such a conundrum. It feels like such a private thing for me and I'm not sure I'm ready to share the news yet Sad

Frenchiemamax · 30/05/2018 14:50

Not yet @blorgzorb I think I might just tell my manager tomorrow in case I need to have any last minute time off/rushes to the toilet! Can you just tell your manager and no one else?

Hope your scan went well today @waitingforbubbles xx

jellyfish2210 · 30/05/2018 14:55

I work in a high risk environment so I had an obligation to tell my manager as soon as I found out. Thankfully he is bound by confidentiality and the changes to my job were so minimal no one would notice. It has worked out well as I have had my booking appointment and have another appointment next week and have been able to take time off without having to make up the time which I would've struggled with as I'm so tired all the time!

peaches1991 · 30/05/2018 15:06

@Upsydasiy I've had the same - spent most of yesterday on fluids in hospital. Fingers crossed for us both that we're over the worst of it. Did they give you any anti sickness?

waitingforbubbles · 30/05/2018 15:10

Good news from me too :). Got to see the little blob and the heartbeat ❤️. They could see a small cyst which may have been causing pain but nothing to worry about apparently, and also a small bleed but again they weren't worried. Feels so reassuring ❤️.

January 2019!
Babit5485 · 30/05/2018 15:12

@waitingforbubbles lovely news! 😍

blorgzorb · 30/05/2018 15:13

Thanks @jellyfish2210 and @Frenchiemamax for responding.
I could tell my team leader but it's a small company and she's very inexperienced with this (I'll be the first person to ever go on maternity leave at this company) and I think she'll tell our directors who work with us in the office day to day.
I already know they'll be good about it (very good at abiding by employment laws) but one of the directors isn't keen on children and thinks people have them as an extension of their ego so perhaps she might be a bit unhappy with me. She'd never say that of course but I know her feelings from previous conversations.

I might tell them tomorrow. I'm off for a week from Friday so might be a good time to let them know so I can scarper afterwards hahah.

blorgzorb · 30/05/2018 15:14

@waitingforbubbles ohh how cute! I was trying to resist an early scab myself but I might have to go for it!

blorgzorb · 30/05/2018 15:16

Hahaha scan NOT scab Grin

Frenchiemamax · 30/05/2018 15:21

bubbles thats amazing news I'm SO glad everything went well!

LottieMcG · 30/05/2018 16:08

Fantastic news ladies who've had the scans today! Brings joy to all I think! Were you recommended somewhere for private scans? I live in Hertfordshire and was just going to google reviews of ones nearby; I think you've convinced me to go myself in another week or so!

LottieMcG · 30/05/2018 16:13

@blorgzorb I had to tell work straight away as I work in a helicopter (not exactly the safest environment) and everyone at work will work it out within a few days when they realise I'm not working nights or flying 😒

blorgzorb · 30/05/2018 16:44

@LottieMcG that's SO COOL! Working in a helicopter! I work in a super boring office Envy
Frustrating it means everyone gets to find out though!

Leliana · 30/05/2018 17:47

My scan was fine!!! Lovely little blob and a lovely strong heartbeat. Measuring 7+1 So broadly fits with my dates. Very relieved!

waitingforbubbles · 30/05/2018 18:36

Thank you @blorgzorb @Babit5485 @Frenchiemamax .

@blorgzorb I wasn't going to have one if I didn't need this one, but actually I think 9 weeks is quite a nice time, very reassuring and it is a bit more than just a tiny blob ❤️. Would probably go private next time at this stage. My 12 week should be much less nerve-wracking now!

Pyxie · 30/05/2018 18:55

Congrats on all the lovely scan news!

I had my booking in appointment today, got my dating scan booked in for 28th June - seems so far away.

Leliana · 30/05/2018 19:03

@lottiemcg I just Googled "reassurance scan [my town name]". There were a few within a half hour drive, so I checked out the websites and chose one that had sonographers who were experienced midwives. I was glad to see a midwife today: she was very reassuring, and gave me good advice about which hospital to book at. I'd suggest you try to find a scanner who is a midwife if you can!

Re: the chat about telling colleagues: I'm not going to until around 12 weeks. There are some potential risks in my job, but I'm happy that they're relatively low, especially at this stage. And I'm not having any symptoms that are impacting on my ability to work yet.

How much maternity leave is everyone taking? I get an excellent deal until 6 months and then very little thereafter, so I'll just take 6 months (plus any accrued annual leave - will hopefully work out to be not far off 7 months).

Daffodil2018 · 30/05/2018 19:24

Congratulations and good luck to all the mums-to-be!

I am 8 weeks tomorrow, due date 12 January. I am 34 and this is my first. I was a bit underwhelmed by the first GP appointment, which literally took 5 minutes - she asked about 3 questions and didn't even give me a pregnancy test! I've got my first midwife appointment on Saturday morning though so hopefully that will be a bit more in-depth. Then the 12 week scan on 4 July.

Feeling fine so far, slightly nauseous from time to time but I haven't been sick yet (touch wood). I am just so dog-gone tired - I am having naps whenever I can fit them in plus 8 hours kip a night, but most afternoons I feel like I'm wading through treacle. Also super spotty - haven't had spots since I was a teenager so I'm not loving that! Looking forward to the day the pregnancy "glow" finally kicks in, lol!

@Leliana, all being well I'll be taking a year. I get full pay for 6 months so am going to try and live on "half rations" and eke out my money for a year. I have a little bit put by in an ISA so going to try and build that up over the next 7 months too. No idea how much I'm going to be spending once the baby arrives. Something tells me it'll be more than I am imagining!

Ozzyseb · 30/05/2018 19:36

I'm so pleased everyone's scans went well today! I've been checking back all day to see!
I know most of you are feeling nauseous/sick but I literally can't stop eating. Half hour after dinner I'm hungry again Hmm

Again I'm so pleased everything went well today for everyone and you all got to see your little baby's Smile

LottieMcG · 30/05/2018 19:57

@Leliana thank you will defo look into it with a midwife, thank you! Xx

PumpkinPatch000 · 30/05/2018 20:09
