I have recently found out I am pregnant and I believe baby would be due 6th January 2019. I know it is such early days, but are there any other Mums-to-be out there who have just discovered they are pregnant and who will be due next year? Sounds crazy saying that!...

I'm worried we have twins, too, @helbel42! I am SO bloated and that, plus twins being on both sides of our families (although apparently my side only matters and only if they're fraternal), I thought it was also worth checking rather than constantly wondering up to the 12w scan.

blorgzorb · 22/05/2018 07:30

I'm so tired I could cry! I'm utterly, utterly exhausted and I need to walk the dog then go to work. All I want to do is crawl back into bed and sleep all day. I think this might turn out to be our only child...

loopdeelou · 22/05/2018 07:56

That's lovely @helbel42 must have been reassuring. I'm also having mine with window to the womb @KimBeau not this coming weekend but next. Fingers crossed all with be okay.

Hi guys, can i join, been lurking between here and the January 2018 thread on the pregnancy board. I'm 5+6 with baby no 1. Had my booking in appointment last week, very early as was worried about potentially being in contact with toxoplasmosis so they wanted to do bloods early, waiting on results so trying not to think about it much until my results come back. My midwife said if you want the Downs Syndrome screening the scan has to be done between 12 and 13 weeks.

stegosauruslady · 22/05/2018 08:28

Morning!

@blorgzorb Any chance you can plan in a nap? With my first I used to snooze for an hour straight after work, then get back up for the evening. It really really helped! Now, I nap between 2 and 3, right before the school run. It means I can be somewhat human and have an evening with DP after the DDs are in bed.

My sickness is so bad. I haven't had it this badly before! I feel green and am dry heaving all morning, then the slightest bad smell can set it off again in the afternoon/evening! This baby had better be cute. Grin

I had my boring paperwork type booking appointment over the phone, which was nice (I'm with one to one midwives). My actual appointment is in a fortnight and will apparently just be about getting to know my midwife, as she will be the only one I see all the way through including the birth! Bloody brilliant.

According to 'Expecting Better' now I'm 6 weeks there is only a 10% chance of miscarriage...which is a lovely statistic to know! Thanks, whoever recommended it, I loved it!

Frenchiemamax · 22/05/2018 09:11

Morning ladies. Also suffering with nausea today, I wish I’d just throw up surely it’s better than this constant sicky feeling! Hope you all manage to get some relief today Flowers

Jebbs · 22/05/2018 11:02

Hello all. Well I seemed to skip the morning sickness you ladies have and have gone straight to the vomiting... Dinner went down the sink last night as brushing my teeth set me off. Hmm Doesn't help that I also have a wonderful cold.

Random question for you all: Does anyone feel really gassy like you need to burp all the time?

Frenchiemamax · 22/05/2018 11:09

Hi *Jebbs, sorry to hear you're suffering too! No actual vomiting here, just lots of nausea. I have also had lots of gas, much to my DH's delight Wink

SP84 · 22/05/2018 11:22

I had the same @Jebbs, been feeling pretty fine apart from a lot of bloating and one bout of nausea on the day AF was due (i.e. at 4 weeks) then have been vomiting this morning (6+5 today).

Am so glad I work from home as I didn't have to hide it from anyone. Text DH who was (unusually) sensitive and lovely. I'm sure it's what he wanted to hear at work, ha ha!

I read Expecting Better and it made me worried that not being nauseous was a bad sign. She kept going on about "the more nauseous you are, the healthier the pregnancy" which made me think that the converse must be true - no nausea = unhealthy pregnancy!! Daft, I know.

Ash1992 · 22/05/2018 11:38

Feel really sick at work today . How can you hide it when you haven't told your work colegues

SP84 · 22/05/2018 11:46

Stomach bug? Ate something dodgy last night? Sorry you're feeling rough at work :(

Ash1992 · 22/05/2018 12:45

@SP84 I've been eating really healthy it must be the hormones that is giving us gas etc. I haven't actually been sick just feeling very nauseous it's horrible

ohhellojo · 22/05/2018 13:08

Hahaha @Jebbs my OH has to burp me all the time. It’s hilarious!

blorgzorb · 22/05/2018 13:49

@stegosauruslady a good idea but we're moving house this weekend and every spare moment is being used to pack! Terrible timing....

helloworld88 · 22/05/2018 14:08

Had my booking in appointment today with my midwife, she seems lovely! Said there are lots of newly pregnant people in my area recently, not sure if that's a good or bad thing! Just got a lot of forms to fill out and leaflets to read, she's also booked me in for a home visit next month! Is this just to see we're living somewhere that's safe for a baby?

Jebbs · 22/05/2018 14:24

@blorgzorb Good luck! I moved last weekend so know what you're going through. Are you doing it solo or do you have a moving company to do the heavy lifting?

loopdeelou · 22/05/2018 14:39

@Jebbs I am burping constantly! As soon as I woke up this morning I started burping uncontrollably. It was so weird!! Then my nose started running as I seem to have developed a cold. My DH said he's never been more attracted to me 😂

blorgzorb · 22/05/2018 15:44

@Jebbs thank you! Solo (with help from some family), have already said I won't be doing any heavy lifting though, my back is aching just from lifting my 2 year old nephew up the other day so I won't be going near any furniture hahah. Hopefully no one else will realise why I'm slacking or slurping down cans of ginger ale like they're going out of fashion 😅

emdoc · 22/05/2018 15:50

Hi everyone, just caught up after we were away for a week on holiday! So sorry to those of you who have had losses ❤️

Since we went away, I’ve been taking anti-sickness meds every evening and I think it’s helping, I missed two nights and the following days were the worst for sickness by far and the only vomiting. I keep wondering if I can stop but there’s really no day when I think I “want” to/can afford to be sick so I’ll keep going for now.

Holiday was lovely and I didn’t feel too sick, did lots of hiking (and at altitude!) and I did Notice my legs felt heavy and I felt more exhausted than normal. I’m hoping things improve as the second trimester goes on, some of my friends who kept really fit during pregnancy I think said 2nd was way better. I want to ask them now but would look quite suspicious!

We have seen our friends several times lately and I have a feeling they’ve noticed I’ve not been drinking on more than one occasion so they probably suspect but nobody has said anything.

I have my dating scan tomorrow, I’ll be 7+6 by my dates, a bit nervous but also excited! Really hope everything is fine. My brother is visiting right now and doesn’t know so if we get bad news could be tough. @helbel42 what a lovely scan pic, I hope ours looks like that!

If good news tomorrow, I think I’ll tell my parents soon!

Jebbs · 22/05/2018 16:48

@blorgzorb My method of getting out of it wasn't glorious... Was so tired in the lead up to it that I hadn't finished packing. Did that while the others were loading! Not really to be recommended as a method.

To all you ladies who share the burping thing: Thank you! I thought it was so odd and neither the hubby nor I had ever heard about this before!

polkadotjersey · 22/05/2018 17:00

@blorgzorb We're moving this weekend too! Hope it all goes smoothly for you.

My dad and stepmum are helping us with the move and it'll be the last time we see them before they go on holiday for a month so we're agonising over whether or not to tell them. I'll only be 5+2 so very early and we haven't told any other family yet. What have other people decided to do about telling close family?

sexnotgender · 22/05/2018 17:20

We’re moving in a few weeks too, thankfully husbands work are paying for a removal firm to do it for us.

blorgzorb · 22/05/2018 17:41

@polkadotjersey good luck to you too! Thank goodness it's a bank holiday weekend.

@Jebbs I like your style! It may well come to that....

sexnotgender · 22/05/2018 17:52

Impressed by how accurate these suckers are! Tested today as obviously I’m a loon, I’m 5weeks today and they’ve been bang on each week with the output.

January 2019!
Jebbs · 22/05/2018 18:45

@polkadotjersey Regarding family we told my parents when I was at 4 weeks as I was going to stay with them without DH and we were afraid my mum would guess. Assuming all goes well, this will be their first grandchild as well as our first so we wanted to tell them together and in person.

We're planning a trip to see the other side of the family in July to tell them the good news once the 3 months are up.
