scoot, sounds really promising. Hope dh makes it home. What a nightmare about the visit from bloke yesterday. Bit scary but I'm sure it will be fine. Are you sure it wasn't a nosy neighbour from up the road sussing out the competition?

Thanks tam.

Thanks for the info re slings, have a friend who swears by them so really want to give em a go.

MrsJB bloody nora midwifes can be a bit of a pain in the arse you could always ask DH to do the sweep for you ;)

Scoot you really need to lie down and have a rest thank god your DH is on his way home think we might have another baba before too long.

Juicy I am in Poplar so dead close to Whitechapel does that mean you are having your baby in the Royal London? Give me a shout my email [email protected]

cameroonmama · 15/05/2007 17:10

Scoot, take it easy, sounds like things are hotting up! i'm glad your dh is on his way home..

Spooky about the random man, as MrsJB says probably just a nosy neighbour

MrsJB, sometimes these french ladies have no manners at all

Sending out some small tiny newborn baby vibes to get some things a starting..

Sumsey · 15/05/2007 17:57

hello all.

i went to midwifes today expecting a sweep as i now 40+2...she said they wont until i am 41 weeks so that mean sunday at least DH will be home to watch our DS. in the meantime she is making an appointment for me to see my consultant in case the sweep does not work (i have flatly refused induction throughout this pregnancy...last was a majoe cock up that ended in a really traumatic c.s)

had some promising niggles yesterday but as always nothing happended...apparantly midwife said baby is not even engaged

Sumsey · 15/05/2007 17:58

sorry just so fed up today

twelveyeargap · 15/05/2007 18:08

Scoot, really glad DH is on the way.

Sumsey, 2nd and subsequent babies often don't engage until labour starts so don't worry too much.

Sumsey · 15/05/2007 18:11

well thats what i always thought but the midwife made out it was such a big deal!!

twelveyeargap · 15/05/2007 18:50

She's making you feel really calm and relaxed then.

Pebblemum · 15/05/2007 19:23

Evening all

Scoot hope you are ok and that dh gets to you soon, you need lots of rest and pampering whether you are in labour or not

I really really thought it was my turn today but obviously im still sat here so i was wrong, yet again. I managed to jump on dh this morning and about two hours later i started getting pains, nothing major at first but they were gradually getting stronger and closer together. This afternoon dh took me round B&Q and other 'fun' places and all the time i was having to stop because of the pains. I was trying not to make a big deal out of them though as dh is in charge at work tonight and didnt want to worry him if it turned out to be nothing. Anyway managed to pick ds2 up from nursery still having pains some of which took my breath away and then suddenly half hour later they stopped. My bump feels very strange (heavy, achy etc), ive felt a bit off colour all day, well actually for the past three days but today has been the worst and ive been feeling very tired, went into my bedroom earlier to lay on my bed and fell asleep for half hour but the pains have just gone away. Its so frustrating

I had promised myself i was going to ignore all pains but today seemed so promising i let myself get my hopes up. I do not think i can go through another week or so of this (edd in 7days but ds2 was 8days late), my patience is wearing thin, i feel like a hippo, i cant lay down without either getting cramp, having trouble breathing or needing to get up for a wee every half hour, and feel as though im stuck in limbo until this LO arrives. I feel I cant plan anything in case I go into labour and let people down even though i know most people would understand. I dont even get to see my midwife until my edd date so no hopes of a sweep until then and im pretty sure she wont do one then anyway as they usually like to wait until you are 41+. Im really hating this last stage even though id promised myself i would make the most of being pregnant as this is my 3rd and final time of going through it. Sorry to moan but im feeling so the bloody weather doesnt help either its so miserable and grey outside its matching my mood

scootermum · 15/05/2007 19:28

Honestly some midwives...youd think they'd have a good line in being reassuring partic when we are at this late stage in the game, but noooo..
Im NOT in labour..DD going to cm's for the day tomorrow and I am staying in bed all day with This morning and some DVD's and a bag of popcorn..not giving birth..Not not!

Dont think man was a neighbour, not from the village anyway, as its not big enough not to know everyone really..but yeah maybe from next village along perhaps..annoying if so as it has made me a bit nervous really..he could have just called the estates and booked in properly..Well all doors locked now so we are quite safe..have to wait up for DH coming back though as he forgot to take his keys..would've liked to go to bed really but will get the poorly blanket out and snuggle underneath that instead..

Pebblemum · 15/05/2007 19:30

Am feeling very now, was just reading through the birth announcements and noticed one of the June babies has arrived already Its not fair it should be us lol. Now i know how the April lot felt when some of our lot queue jumped

cinnamontam · 15/05/2007 19:31

Oh Pebble - sounds like you are having a rough time. The stop/start thing must be hideous. Sending baby come out vibes your way. Failing that then a peaceful nights sleep

cinnamontam · 15/05/2007 19:32

Scoot - at the strange man.

And woman if you have afro hair then you definitely need to give me some hair tips cause I've never seen hair so glossy and straight as yours was at the London meetup . Extremely impressed!

scootermum · 15/05/2007 19:33

Well it does sound promising Pebble..its no picnic this last bit is it?And you are right about the feckin weather..im sick of it, it hasnt stopped raining here for 3 solid days and my hair is huge..DD fell over outside today and had to go to toddlers with a wet bum...Cant dry any washing and we will soon run out of clothes..Think will stick heating back on for a bit, but I hate doing that..once ive switched it off for summer I dont like switching it back on, feels like admitting defeat!

scootermum · 15/05/2007 19:36

Ha!But that was after about an hour with GHD's and a ton of products. And not a drop of moisture in the air..one drop of rain and Im sunk!
Was watching an old episode of Friends before and lamenting that the Rachel cut is no longer fashionable-think I could've achieved that with a bit more ease as it was quite shaggy really..missed my time I think..

Pebblemum · 15/05/2007 19:48

I was thinking of putting the heating on too, been feeling quite cold today but ds2 has just dragged his quilt into the front room so we can cuddle up and watch a film together, hes a boy after my own heart that one lol. And once hes gone to sleep im going to get the spare quilt in, make sure i have a nice pile of munchies and drinks next to me and veg out, only thing missing will be a nice commode so i dont have to get up to the loo Hopefully i will feel a bit more human by the time dh gets home

Im keeping everything crossed that one of us actually goes into labour soon, i think we are all suffering now. Is it me or does it seem as though the May babies are an awkward bunch, first we have a few scares, then a few early arrivals, then half of us seemed to be in the breech club and now they are all messing us around and dont seem to want to put in an appearance, just playing tricks on us with all this false labour rubbish lol

DaisysGotABigBump · 15/05/2007 19:50

Sorry ladies for us lot jumping the queue....buy Nannyjo had OC so was probably induced for health reasons....the rest of us will be hanging on forever I'm sure...except Lilkel obviously

Good Luck to you all and Big Congratulations on the babies born so far!!

Pebblemum · 15/05/2007 20:01

Thats ok Daisy some of us did it with the April lot so its only fair some of you queue jump too And as long as all the babies and mums are healthy it doesnt matter when they arrive, im just getting fed up with waiting for mine to put in an appearance

scootermum · 15/05/2007 20:05

If only id thought before I left work I could ve got us all some giant inco pads..would've saved loads of trips to the toilet

DaisysGotABigBump · 15/05/2007 20:19

Can you throw some giant incontinence pads in the June direction....
....I'm getting a wee leak every time I stand up and had to suffer the indignity of the code not scanning on the Tena Lady I bought yesterday and the cashier holding them up and shouting her manager over . I'm sure that's TMI from someone you hardly know.

and that's wee as in small....or as in wee...whatever

scootermum · 15/05/2007 20:23

If I call into work will get hold of some, from Tena lady size to huge nappies..none of us will ever have to get up in the middle of the night again! But you will need some mahussive PJ bottoms to go over the big nappy ones..they are very large indeed!

DaisysGotABigBump · 15/05/2007 20:24

fingers crossed for more babies soon....

cinnamontam · 15/05/2007 20:51

You can get adult nappies can't you?? For people who are that way inclined...shudders

Pebblemum · 15/05/2007 21:18

If you look on ebay under adult nappies you can sometimes find the 'kinky, rubber' type (not that im that way inclined i found them by mistake, honest )

LupinsBigLump · 15/05/2007 21:56

Hello ladies, sorry you are all feeling bit pooey, know what you mean about the weather and hair - if i had the time my ghds would be getting a hammering atm, as it is i just look like a wreck with frizzy hair thats not had enough sleep, we have had our heating on for the odd hour last few days it has been getting a bit chilly- our house is great in the summer stays lovely and cool but winter is freezing

I accidently stumbled onto the adult nappies on ebay ewwwww most strange

Hope your babies arrive soon xx
