Oh YAY LG&T. It's SOMETHING isn't it? It's a sign.

Oh, bought DD some brown mascara as a compromise. The heavy black round her little pale face is a bit much. She seems happy.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 14/05/2007 19:04

Oh you've joined the blobby jelly gang lg&t, WELCOME! Still waiting for the loss of mine to mean something. Hopeful that tommorows sweep now the plug has gone could actually do something.

Stop it, still 4 days to EDD so NO moaning.

DD gone to get curry menu from the Tandoori down the road. Hehehe. DH in agreement. Reckon he's thinking of his two weeks off.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 14/05/2007 19:14

Yay, go for it TYG, if it works I will be seriously jealous........ nothing bloody seems to work for me.
I am sat looking at a large pineapple, tempted to eat it but after 3 last week I'm not sure I can face it. Baby doing the highland jig at the moment Ouch it really hurts, pineapple may make it worse.

Oooh LGT! Sounds promising! Keep us informed!

scootermum · 14/05/2007 19:58

Have been reduced to a blubbering wreck by SOH's birth announcement,(for the second time today-the first involved a screaming DD, Sheeting rain, a jobsworth traffic warden and some numpty who couldnt park within the lines resulting in me having to get DD into the car from the wrong side and hurting my back in the process..and its now four Mcflurries as a result as needed something to pick me up after all that!)

Mathilda is really a stunner I think..and that was quite some birth SOH..Well done to the three of you for getting through that lot!

So who'll be next I wonder?Pebble with her pains, TYG with her tightenings, curry and rumpty? largegandt with her show? And where is MKG today?Oh its getting exciting now!
(Or me for that matter as DH has managed not to sort out his dual band roaming and is probably as we speak somewhere in Montmartre supping Stella Artois like its going out of fashion whilst his lady wife is here, still with the ruddy pains and now with a crocked back to contend with..NUMPTY!!(CM on standby for DD, NCT pal on standby for me, am hoping will not have to use them..)

Glad to hear the little man is doing so well Cam!Well done you!

Hi to everyone else..

Have bought myself lovely M and S dinner tonight, and a lemon drizzle cake for afters..if it werent for the fact that was heavily pg would be quite enjoying my night home alone!

scootermum · 14/05/2007 20:00

Also- glad you had a good day Mrs JB..who was it called your kids the 'jaffalings'?...really made me giggle..

SKYTVADDICT · 14/05/2007 20:11

Congrats to all who have given birth.

Can someone update the list of who has popped and who hasn't? I'll never catch up.

Just going to try and download some piccies of Callum.

Not been around much - post C Section been difficult and I have been resting as much as poss. DP been a star.

SKYTVADDICT · 14/05/2007 20:35

I've added one photo, but its not a very clear one. I am needed to feed AGAIN!

Just quicky my birth story reads the same as SOH's but without the ambulance ride. If I had chosen the midwife led unit we would have been blue lighting it too!

Will try and put a better photo on tomorrow

Pebblemum · 14/05/2007 20:50

If one more person tells me what i need to do to get this baby out i think i will scream It feels as though my private life is common knowledge now

I have been drinking raspberry leaf tea as if it is going out of fashion, ive been attacking dh at every opportunity, dh is fed up with the sight of my nipples and im suprised i havent turned yellow with all the pineapple ive been eating and yet this LO is still determined to stay put. The closest ive got to having a curry is the cury sauce from the chippy because the real hot stuff does funny things to my insides and i dont want that happening when im in labour lol

I cant think of anything else i can try and so ive resigned myself to the fact this LO is not going to make an early appearance after all. Ive also decided that my big fat tum must be so comfy that she would much rather stay in there than come out into the horrid weather we've been having, must say i dont blame her though, im fed up witht he wind and rain myself

largeginandtonic · 14/05/2007 21:38

nothing going on here. Am crouchy, may just go to bed.

Scoot your dinner sounds yum, your back does not sound good though. Hope you manage to rest it tonight and not have to call th CM for Lily. Think calm stying in there vibes to the baby, it does work.

ITS lots of luck getting the baby out, curry Tried that one last night. All it did was slightly unblock me, sorry if TMI.

SKYTV he looks soooo little on that big bed! Im very glad you are resting lots and DP is being a help. You must have had a rough time too if it was like poor SOH.

DS#4 fighting sleep on the couch, MIL not fighting it at all

I need a wee again, troop up the bloomin stairs for a thimble full, may get a commode.

TYG you are a lovely mummy buying her some mascara Im sure it is those kind of things you remember forever as a kid. Your steak the other night sounds yum, im not having it as i cant bear it cooked. Im a scare the cow with the oven type of steak eater, no point if you have to have it cooked through

MRSJB, no more jelly from you then? Hope you have had a lovely birthday today. A baby tomorrow would be nice, no?

Night all, am pooped. Off to read some old Harry Potter, getting very excited about the new book coming out soon. With only 6 children under 8 im going to enjoy reading it cover to cover in a couple of days

scootermum · 14/05/2007 22:03

Gaah, just wrote a lovely long post and lost it all..
he looks great SKYTV...sorry to hear your labour so hard, but glad he arrived safe and sound in the end..

Turning in now, night all..wishing for babies for those that want them sooner rather than later, and sleep for those that have them already, and no baby for me quite yet if you please...

twelveyeargap · 14/05/2007 22:56

LG&T, I only eat steak medium rare. There ain't no pregnancy policeperson going to make me cook it through! If there's no blood on the plate then it's not worth having IMO. AND I had a Corona with my dinner. Have been scoffing pate like it's going out of fashion as well. Norty mummy.

SKY - I can't wait to see your other pictures of Callum. From what I can see he's lovely.

No curry. DH rang me 15 mins after I expected him home to say he was just leaving. Argh. Had to drag out the fish fingers again else DD would have been eating at 10pm if I'd waited to phone the Indian. I was not amused, but he was very apologetic - which is nice, becuase he usually tries to find excuses. Perhaps it was my death stare that did it. Either that or he felt sorry for me, standing there mashing potatoes looking like a whale and wishing I could push a baby out.

MKG · 14/05/2007 23:02

I just wrote a long post and it is missing now.

Happy birthday MrsJaffa!

Soh your pictures are gorgeous and your announcement was great.

I've spent the whole day sleeping. I just can't get myself to wake up. The past two nights I've had lower back pain like when my period comes, but nothing has come of it.

I hope someone else has a baby soon. (Please let it be me!)

drkgpink · 15/05/2007 01:09

think i've just about caught up.

congrats befnal

Pinkjenny · 15/05/2007 07:52

Just as the mother in law debate gets going, now my own mum wants to 'sit outside' while I am in theatre. Never mind the fact that I go in at 9.30am and she can't actually see me til 2.00pm! God love her.

Going to get my bikini line (or crazy bush) waxed at 11, which I absolutely hate having done. Then I am going to have a McDonalds lunch (including the obligatory caramel McFlurry) and buy a new chest of drawers and bedside table for the spare room. I might even buy a couple of breastfeeding tops! Woohoo, what a thrilling day I have planned!

InTheseShoes - thanks for the reassuring words re c-sections, fab advice. Went to meet the anaesthetist and the OB doctor yesterday who were both absolutely lovely. My new greatest fear is that she won't breathe when she comes out, as apparently this is more common when a baby is delivered by section. Poor baby, one minute all comfy and snuggly, the next someone grabs you by your feet and pulls you out. So now I'm worried she'll be in shock and have to go to special care. God help us all when she is here, if I thought I was a worrier before, there's no hope for me post-Thursday.

More babies today please!

twelveyeargap · 15/05/2007 08:39

Pinkjenny, mums are mad. I try to tell myself that I won't be like that, but you never know.

Mine is funny about being "first" to be told when the baby comes. I mean, FGS.

Very exciting that you'll be having your baby on Thursday though!

largeginandtonic · 15/05/2007 08:45

Morning all

No babies overnight then? We have all slowed to a crawl (which is how most of us is moving anyway) Any chance of a midweek pick up in the pace?

Im soooo fed up, went to bed early but had to get up and wee at 11.30, again at 1.05, ds#4 climbed in our bed soon after cue me sleeping on a knife edge. Not easy when you are the size of a house and to turn over now (frequently as i go numb after about an hour) i have to go on to all fours. Followed by another ds getting up for a wee at 4 and then me again at 5!

DH then starts shouting at ds#4 for coughing and waking him up at 6!!!! Im not a happy bunny. My back is killing me still, the baby must be in an OP position i think. I have been bouncing on my birthing ball and walking lots, please turn baby. I dont fancy another OP labour, dd was and it was not good

Im a misery this morning, no? May do the school run and go in to town to pick up bank card (finally in).

Am not fit for company today. DH keeps asking me every 2 minutes "are you ok?" May answer him one of these days....... "Noooooo im bloody not!", my back aches permanantly, i cant do anything comfortably not even sleep, people keep making helpful comments like "ooooh 40weeks and 1 day over now then", "if you could go in to labour now that would be great, i wouldnt have to...such and such", Every one else is looking forward to this baby coming out (i am too dont get me wrong) but it is not them that is going to have to go through agony to get the end result is it?

Just ignore me, clearly i need some sort of chocolate injection, or perahps Caramel Mc flurry???!!!

largeginandtonic · 15/05/2007 08:48

PinkJenny im your text buddy for Thursday, i get to hear before all the inlaws surely? Heee heee what do ya think they would say about that! Best to keep it quiet maybe......

Pinkjenny · 15/05/2007 09:07

LG & T - I shall text you immediately under the bed covers! You must get a caramel McFlurry - its compulsory.

TYG - has anyone told you how quickly the carpal tunnel will go after the birth? Mine is driving me mad now, and I'm sick of sleeping with my hands over the edge of the bed.

largeginandtonic · 15/05/2007 09:23

Yhe carpel tunnel takes a little while to go PJ, it is like the swelling. You would think that as soon as the baby is out it all vaishes but it can get a little worse as all the hormones go crazy. You will be on lots of pain killers after the c section though so it should make it easier for a few days. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Take lots of pepermint tea too for the gas build up you get after. It really works. I was looking forward to my section if only to avoid the after pains, the pain killers post section are fab Ask for them frequently even if you feel ok, it is better to keep them built up in your system than let the level drop. It is a bigger hill to climb to build them back up again IYKWIM.

It is still raining, consequently my hair looks like a bloody hay stack (think Scarecrows cross Sarah Jessica Parker)I hate the rain.... How is yours holding up Scooter?

Pinkjenny · 15/05/2007 09:38

LG & T - comments duly noted and peppermint teabags now firmly ensconced in hospital bag.

juliewoolie · 15/05/2007 09:43

Morning girls,

gawd is it ever going to stop raining.

LG&T feel your pain poor you I think we are all just getting totally fed up now I guess we just have to think we are near the end.

RE dodgy hair I am really worried about the frizz in hospital do you think I can get away with plugging in my GHD's or will they have a hissy fit? Am I being a bit shallow to be worrying about my hair when I have just given birth?

PJ I was meant to have a section too and I was told the exact same thing about taking all the drugs they offer you I was also told to buy gigantic granny pants that go nearly up to your belly button as they are the most comfortable thing to wear. I was also told about getting out of bed and the best way to do it will trawl through my emails and find it for you.

There is far too much talk on here about golden arches might have to go off and have one for lunch today.

InTheseShoes · 15/05/2007 09:47

Morning.

Had some vague period type pains in the night, but was probably the pineapple working its way through my system...

Me and ds slept in this morning (why will he not do this at the weekend??) which is never a good start to a day! Am now having a relax on the sofa with Mumsnet before venturing out to do some shopping with a mate this afternoon.

Have a good day everyone!

juliewoolie · 15/05/2007 09:48

Ok here is the advice that a friend mailed to me about c-sections hope it helps.

Have you got Big Pants? If you have a section, and frankly if you don't, you'll want the Big Pants in ginormous size for a while. They help keep the Big Pads in place and are much nicer than disposable pants. If you have a section you won't want regular pants for a while, even boys shorts style aren't going to cut it. Get thee to M&S and buy Big Pants, up to your waist, in 100% cotton and black. Which you can then chuck in the bin after a bit.

Also, trapped wind is a problem if you have a section and is so so so so SO painful. You get the pain in your shoulder, referred pain. Peppermint tea/cordial is a must!

Oh and to get out of bed, and remember this, lift up one leg and bend your knee 45 degrees, then put your hands behind the knee and lock them, and then pull towards you. Your tummy muscles are wrecked for a while and gettin gout of bed is hard, but doing what I've just described means you use your leg as a lever and is pain free!

What else. Sneezing is very painful. If you feel one coming, rub along your left eyebrow and it will go. Weird but works. Or lick the soft bit of the roof of your mouth.

My general advice would be to take all the drugs they offer for a few days, and get top ups before you feel any pain. Get out of bed ASAP, and stand up straight. The temptation is to lean over to alleviate the pain, but will make your recovery slower.

Oh, and get a nanny. HA HA HA. Seriously, if you have a section you are going to need some help for a bit longer than most. So line up your mum, inlaws (snigger) etc etc.
