awake at 4.15. dh gets up at 5.15...im still awake so i get up with him have cuppa and a chat and take him to station at 6. im due at sisters to wait for the sky man at 7.30 so no point going back to bed i think. going to sisters was actually a good thing as i had nothing really to do at hers so i dosed on the sofa from about 8.30 til 11 when the sky man turned up! so not feeling too tired.

happy bday mrs JB!! 30! i remember mine....my bday is in august and my dh (not married or engaged or anything at time tho) organised a surprise party with my mums help at her place/garden and it was fantastic. even my best friend from spain was there. oooo the memories!!

thanks for all your comments about step children. i think (hope) they will all come around eventually. the oldest one saw me just after xmas briefly as i was in the car when we took her to change her xmas pressie (it was a telly which wasnt working properly!) and she was civil. even said "you too" when i wished her a happy new year! made my new year that did!!

dont feel like doing anything today. im 38+5 today. come on baby....get a wiggle on....im ready for you now!

madeindevon2 · 14/05/2007 13:00

lgandt .....good luck for the sweep! blimey 6th child on the way.....are you going for some sort of record!? big families are great tho. my mum married a man with 4 children and i already had a sister. (i was 12 at the time) and it was/is great having lots of siblings. family parties are a riot! we cant all fit in one house now tho as we all married and there are 4 kids (soon to be 5!!) (mum and dad (i call him dad not stepdad) wisely downsized on the house when we all moved out) very happy childhood in sunny devon. i will be back there one day full time...id love my LO to grow up there.....

dorisdaily · 14/05/2007 13:04

pinkjenny - my MIL turned up at the hosital 30mins after i had my dd and demanded to come into delivery suite and dh let her - this time i tried to get an injuction but dh put a stop to it! if she comes anywhere near me this time i'm gonna hit her with something large and heavy!

InTheseShoes · 14/05/2007 13:04

Oooooh, pinkjenny, there's a lesson in there for all of us about texting - I'm trying to think of something you could text back to her that is innocuous but lets her know that she's sent that by mistake, something like "sorry, sounded which Jenny out about what?"

You've done the right thing, now stay nice and calm because you need to be lovely and relaxed on Thursday.

dorisdaily · 14/05/2007 13:05

sorry i don't post v.often but MILs make me mad!

madeindevon2 · 14/05/2007 13:07

pink jenny..how madening for you. i honestly dont want anyone other than dh coming to the hospital. im hoping wont be in longer than one night anyway but thats beside the point. well done you for saying what you think. i love mum to bits and want her to see baby asap but id rather wait and have visitors on my own terms in my own house.

madeindevon2 · 14/05/2007 13:11

blimey these MIL are a nightmare! what gives them the right eh! i saw something on here recently about a MIL insisting she was going to be at the birth!!! i mean....WTF!!
mine has her moments but she isnt that bad! (just the little things like putting things in the wrong cupboards because thats where she thinks they should go.....hahhahah. i dont mind tho....her heart is in the right place)

ShowOfHands · 14/05/2007 13:34

Can't stop, back to hospital for check up now but will post later.

Birth announcement and pics posted.

cinnamontam · 14/05/2007 13:39

Happy Monday all...

Come on TYG - I jumped on to see if anything had happened. I was sure of it. Classic about your DD. My best friend called me in tears the other day cause her 12 year old got her periods. We both freaked out

Scoot - you still feeling those pains?

MrsJB - Happy Birthday Hope you have a great day

LG&T - good luck with the sweep

MadeinDevon - we bought an Amby Hammock for our Bean. All the stuff we read sounded great so I got one secondhand off Ebay.

Really hankering for a McFlurry now...might have to jump in the car or get DH to go later

Pinkjenny · 14/05/2007 13:44

Oh my lord - Mathilda is beautiful. I'd like to order one like that please.

SOH - never mind going to the hospital - get back here and tell us all! But no scary c-section stories, they can wait til after Thursday

Ladies - thank you for your kind words and solidarity. Mil are a pain in the bum, and fil is even worse!

largeginandtonic · 14/05/2007 13:45

Hello >

The midwife was lovely she did a sweep and i scored highly Bishops score that is Cervix soft, central and she managed to geta finger round it and disturb the membranes. The baby jumped a mile when she did it, obviously not a fan of having his head poked!

So i see her next monday for another sweep if this comes to nothing and then will be seen at the hospital for induction. She said best not to induce though as it can irritate the uterus and make labour too fast. Something i need nooooo help with. So sit and wait then.

Just had sausage and chips from the chippie, mmmmmmm Mc Flurry would be lovely for dessert though (god damn it scoot!)

MIL's sound like a pain! Mine is lovely, i have offered her to be at the birth but she doesnt want to. My mother will be there with bells on though, she loves to see me in a bit of pain She is lovely really

cinnamontam · 14/05/2007 13:48

LG&T

Sorry you didn't hear 'Goodness me, I can see the head, why don't you just start pushing now'. That would have been nice i know. Fingers crossed (not your legs) that the sweep gets things moving for you.

InTheseShoes · 14/05/2007 13:55

SOH! I have just sobbed at your announcement, you write so well! Congratulations to you and Mr SOH and welcome to the (quite frankly) absolutely gorgeous Matilda, she is quite the most beautiful little girl I have ever seen! Very well done indeed, looking forward to hearing from you again soon. xxxx

InTheseShoes · 14/05/2007 14:01

LGT - sounds positive with the sweep - good luck!

Pinkjenny, I realised that I have never told you that I had a very positive experience of C-Section (and mine was emergency for foetal distress, after a 48 hour labour with three lots of pessaries for induction. Oh, at 12 days late as well.) He was out in a jiffy, gorgeous, breastfed, slept well, I bounced back amazingly well, and drove (with a GP note and permission from the Insurance people) at 3 1/2 weeks. No infection from the scar, no lasting impact.

Tips: get active asap. Come off the morphine as soon as you can bear it. Pretend that your sectioned stomach is actually hurting because you have been exercising loads, your muscles are sore as a result, but joyously you have now a 26 inch waist. The pain is easier to handle IMHO. Concentrate on the positive and not the negative, which was, I think, a bit easier for me to do as I had had a scary five minutes before being wheeled into theatre. Keep your strength up, and accept any help offered (even if it is your MIL)

largeginandtonic · 14/05/2007 14:28

SOH!!! Im so glad you posted and all is well in the SOH household. I just want to give you a huge hug, your post made me cry. Im so pleased you have the lovely Mathilda but am so sorry you had such a traumatic birth. An episiotomy and a section is just as bad as it gets, which im sure you dont need telling. Rest lots and snuggle Mathilda.

Please let me know if i can do\send anything to help. Im on the end of the phone if you need me. You are indeed the cleverest mummy to produce such a sweet little, sneezing baby. ( oh and J too )

Lwatkins · 14/05/2007 14:57

Afternoon All

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPY Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Bithday MmmmmmmmmrrrrrrrsssssssJafffffaaaaaaaaaaBiffa
Happy Birthday Tooooooooooo Yooooooooooou!

SOH glad to hear your ok lovely, great birth announcement and Mathilda is scrummy!

Cam good to hear from you to, hope you resting lots.

LG&T I hope sweep works, I shudder at the thought of going overdue. Your doing fab, do you want to borrow my salad utensils and go in for him yourself?

TYG pmsl at your dd with all her makeup. Reminds me of sneaking out the house when I was 12 with it caked on! Our school had a no makeup policy though so we spent all day trying to keep our heads down, being told to wipe it all of and then re-applying it all. Cost a bloody fortune! Ah, good times

Hello to everyone else, happy monday.

Had my pains again last night and this morning. Is it normal to have constant period like pains with sharp pains every few minutes? But then they stop, seems to only happen when I'm relaxing and lying down in bed. Very confusing.

juliewoolie · 14/05/2007 15:20

LW I've given up trying to figure out all the aches and pains and whether or not they mean anything!

SOH your little one is gorge so sorry you didnt get the birth you had planned but at least you are all together at home safe and sound.

To all the Mc flurry fans I have just found a new Ben and Jerry's flavour which will blow you away was at friends on sat night and nearly eat the whole tub myself! It's called Glastonbury.

Re MIL dont even get me started!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 14/05/2007 17:11

THANK YOU ALL for your lovely singing and birthday wishes, they have made me chuckle. I have had a lovely day shopping with dsis and friend, enjoyed a nice lunch. It's not so bad being 30 (aghhh) after all.

lg&t, really hope your sweep works. I see the MW tommorow so will have another one I'm sure.

SOH - Your Mathilda is just beautiful, well done you, you are very brave, clever and just a truly lovely person. Your Birth announcement made me cry.

Hope everyone is ok. xxx

Another whinger here for the SOH birth announcement.

It's great to have you back SOH.

Nothing happening here. Got waxed, hands and feet pampered. Got in car, huffed and puffed all the way home with on/ off pains in belly, trying not to get hopeful and then let an enormous fart. Then another one.

I scoffed a packet of those AquaDrop sweeties before I went out, the ones with all the aspartame in them. Irritates the bowel. Doh.

MarsLady · 14/05/2007 17:48

I'm over on your side of the hill tonight 12YG. So if labour starts just holler

twelveyeargap · 14/05/2007 18:01

Ah, and I was over your side last night, scoffing steak in Monkey Nuts like it was my last meal.

MarsLady · 14/05/2007 18:07

You could have said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Monkey Nuts!

Leaving now. So... I'll be there till about 8 so holler loud!

InTheseShoes · 14/05/2007 18:44

Right, I mean business now. I've just eaten a whole pineapple (well, ds has had 2 slices begrudgingly). DH is in Poole, therefore it would be the worst time to go into labour, therefore I am laughing in the face of Fate, and launching Operation GetOutOfTheWombNaturallyPleaseDarling. Tomorrow's tea will be a curry, followed by another pineapple and ditto Wednesday. DH will be greeted upon his return by his wife attired in an alluring bedsheet (only seductive thing that fits these days) and a smile on Thursday night, with a bottle of Viagra on standby.

largeginandtonic · 14/05/2007 18:48

I have just had a SHOW..... wahoooooo. Means nothing i know, i know. Still if you cant get excited about a bit of blobby jelly exiting your body what can you get excited about?????

twelveyeargap · 14/05/2007 18:50

Have ordered a pineapple with my Tesco order for tomorrow and have told DH he's on "husband sweep duty" (nudge, nudge) tonight.

"You only want me for my labour inducing possibilies," he sez. "Yes," sez I, "and your point is?"
