Thanks Derlor, Am referring to the 'red book' and all the various tests et. DD is 4 and my HV hasn't asked to see her since she was 2. Is this normal? shouldn't they be going through the various things listed? Should I phone and ask that they see her? Not that I am worried about anything just that I wouldn't like to think anything was being missed.

Seansgirl · 14/05/2007 21:23

The socks and shoes definately

BadZelda · 14/05/2007 21:24

No one's evaluated mine since she was about 5 months...they cancelled the eight-month check as they were so behind with appts! (she's nearly two and a half now). Having said that I'm not too worried, as there is a HV, language therapist and MW at the local one o'clock club, and they are all v satisfied with her progress...as was doc when she had her MMR injection. Does make you wonder why the red book though....owner's manual we call it ;)

derlor · 14/05/2007 21:24

OK i've finished - a bit controversial probably but well who cares!!!

  1. seeing my other LO's faces when they meet their new sibling.
  2. not "oomphing" every time i get up/sit down
  3. not burping ALL the time
  4. easilly puting on my own socks and shoes
  5. smelling my new baby - i LOVE baby smell (not the bum end obviously!)
  6. walking without feeling like a baby is going to drop out of me with every step i take.
  7. not waddling
  8. WINE
  9. cycling 10)playing properly with DS and DD (without saying "mummy can't darling")
BadZelda · 14/05/2007 21:26

Annobal - sorry to hear that you've had such a difficult time over the last few days. Sounds horrible. I hate hospitals and it must have been scary not knowing what was going to happen. At least things have calmed down a bit now...

Seansgirl · 14/05/2007 21:29

LOL BZ hadn't thought of Owners manual - am not worried just - like you said what is the point?

derlor · 14/05/2007 21:31

OK don't know about England but things have changed recently in Scotland and we are now only routinely seeing babies -
weekly till 6 weeks
6-8 week check
for all immunisations
then if no problems - letter/phonecall at 2 years to ask about any concerns - if none then
pre school boosters.
and that is it - IT'S SHITE AND IT MAKES ME MAD!!!!!!!!!
unless you are an "at risk" family ie mum has PND or have social work involvement or mum/dad has drug or alcohol problems then you will not be seen - it is up to you to come to baby clinic if you want to see HV
can you tell i DON'T agree with this lack of imput????????

Seansgirl · 14/05/2007 21:31

Think its a lovely list, its a very unselfish list! No 10 esp, close to my heart, feel very guilty about that

Seansgirl · 14/05/2007 21:35

Wish we had you as our HV Derlor, you obviously care ! It doesn't seem quite right that there is less input - apparently at school they have cut back on the checks they have there our DDs new school were telling us - they we also very about the lack of input.

Think I will go and have a bath and chill

Night night xx

daisybump · 14/05/2007 21:36

What a lovely list Derlor.....I think most of us would agree with those points, especially the smelling your LO, but mainly I'm looking forward to getting myself back and getting rid of this shouty mad hormonal witch who appears to have taken over my body.....and I'm sure DH and DS feel the same!

Seansgirl · 14/05/2007 21:37

Thanks Derlor, sorry if it made your blood boil. Sleep well xx

daisybump · 14/05/2007 21:39

I never even got a reminder about DSs MMR and pre-school booster...I had to phone and badger them for an appointment and he only had it about 6 weeks ago (having started school last September). When the HV came around the other day, she said that he wasn't even on the system....and we registered with the GP here two farking years ago

hollyandalice · 14/05/2007 21:42

Evening everyone! I have just eaten my dinner after getting home from tesco, am knackered now! Bought loads of meat for dp and filled the freezer with it so I don't have to cook once bubs is here!

Annobal, hope you are feeling better, that's really shitty for you being in hosp. Bet you are glad to be home xxx

Had a phone call from the surgery as I was walking out the door and I am anaemic so need to take iron supps. I have been taking spatone and everything! It's obv not hardcore enough. Also I have a horrible black patch on one of my legs behind my knee and the veins are bulgey and it looks awful. I can't look at it or touch it it makes me feel sick! Is this varicose veins?

daisybump · 14/05/2007 21:46

Sounds nasty Holly....never has a varicose vein so couldn't comment.....you should get it checked over by your GP or MW though.

derlor · 14/05/2007 21:49

Oh Holly - lie down and get your legs up above your head NOW!!!! stay like this till the vein drains and repeat as necessary oh and eat LOTS of beetroot for anaemia x
oh i feel SO nursey tonight

derlor · 14/05/2007 21:51

Daisy about DS not being on the system - what a pile of shite excuse that is!!!!!!!!!
OH I AM ON FIRE TONIGHT. I'M STEALING FOXY'S MRS GRUMPY TIARA!!!!!!!!

hollyandalice · 14/05/2007 21:51

It's making me very ! I am 25 ffs and my body has been ravaged by pregnancy! I have really dark stretchmarks from the top of my boobs down to my knees, I am fat, my pelvic floor has gone and now this! I look 40 and it's really depressing me! Am going to mw on thurs so I'll get her to have a look, I can't even look at it myself.

NattyThomasandEllen · 14/05/2007 21:53

hullo!

  1. being able to reach the bottom of my freezer with out hoisting my bump over rim
